Mucci’s in Kensington and Chelsea

Authentic Italian food is a term that gets used regularly but in the case of Muccis it definitely applies. The meal we had at Muccis on a night out not so long ago was excellent. We tried many dishes, they were all delicious, I can’t fault any of them. The Cicchetti menu is quite large and varied. At one point I mentioned to a member of staff that we planned on ordering several dishes and sharing some of the dishes between the four of us as I was wondering if the dishes would be big enough to share. The staff member recommended us doing this and kind of intimated that’s the point of cicchetti (sharing multiple plates of food). We mostly ordered from the large cicchetti menu, and I think most dishes would be fine as a main for one but could also be shared as we did. All the dishes we had could be described as high quality authentic Italian food. The restaurant is very smart and well decorated, it has a modern Italian feel to it. Its located in a nice part of Chelsea on a high street. Parking might be a bit tricky as it’s a busy area, but we had no problems as we were dropped off by a driver. I particularly enjoyed the Tonnarelli seafood. I normally don’t like mussels, but the sauce was excellent so I enjoyed them very much. The pasta was al dente with this dish which added to the authentic feel of the dish. I also really enjoyed the wild boar pappardelle. The pasta with this dish was less al dente and seemed to have been cooked more as it was softer all the way though which is more to my taste. The starters were good and I can especially recommend the Zucchini fritti and Calamari fritti to nibble on. After the excellent Cecchetti we thought we would try a pizza. So glad we did. We tried the Robin Hood pizza. Wow! One of the best pizzas I have ever had. It had spicy salami, portobello mushrooms, basi and two types of cheese on it. Maybe I had drunk too much wine at this point so I will need to go back and try this pizza again. Wish I could click and collect their pizzas. In the photo I took the pizza may look a little charred, but I can assure you that it tasted amazing. The staff were helpful , polite and generally very good. The first member of staff that looked after us was great until he seemed to forget to bring us the second round of starters we asked for. After about 10 minutes we asked another member of staff where’s our bruschetta? He brought it to us in 5 mins and we didn’t see the first member of staff again. Maybe he finished his shift. The menu seems very rigid. We asked if we could have 4 bruschetta if we paid more instead of the standard 3 (there were four of us) but was met with a stern “no”. We also asked if we could have the pizza cut into 4 pieces and again got the stern “no” as they use a machine which cuts 6 slices. A very minor gripe. Overall, I have to give Mucci 5 stars, I really enjoyed the food and the whole experience in the restaurant. I would like to thank all the staff who work there. They were very considerate and caring towards my elderly mother. They also gave my uncle a small treat for his birthday. The whole restaurant joined in with a round of happy birthday. I look forward to going there again in the new year.

The food, staff and atmosphere was lovely. My boyfriends 30th so we came with family and friends, our drinks were always full, our plates tidied and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. An absolute pleasure and we will return.

Good points……good pizza….very attentive staff…. Bad points.,…way overpriced for what was delivered - eg 22 for calamari small portion….very noisy - loud music - our sign language is poor…..table of 4 braying 20 somethings next to us sounded like a horse stable…..they did not need sign language as they shouted at each other……so for a retired couple who enjoy eating out in reasonably priced restaurants and having a conversation, then this is not the place for you…..if you’ve are under 30 enjoy!

A wonderful pre show meal, fabulous atmosphere & very friendly servers, we went early in the evening so had star treatment from Giovanni! Fabulous pistachio ice cream! Expensive with a £30 pizza!

The Italian food was excellent. However, I was disappointed to see that their drinks menu featured two cocktails with bizarrely racially stereotyped names and appearances, namely the "Fu Manchu" cocktail served out of a glass which was a caricature of an Asian person's head, and the "Sangria Zulu" cocktail served out of a similarly stereotyped glass of an African person's head. I emailed the restaurant directly about this before posting this review, and they responded with a link for me to purchase one of the mugs, which missed the point quite spectacularly.

Well we won't be going again! Never in my life have I been to a restaurant where you get the food delivered when it's ready rather than with the course it's ordered with. We got chips with our starter and were told that that was the way they worked! Add to that, with more staff than customers you would have thought the service would have been excellent but sadly no. They were too busy chatting to each other and we had to ask for the drinks we had ordered to be delivered. Finally, I thought oversalting food to get customers to drink more was outdated but if that wasn't the reason, I have no explanation for having focaccia with my salt or fish that had been salted to the heavens. Defo not a place I would recommend on any count.

Food is slightly above average, and if the prices were significantly less, you’d potentially return, however when paying ~£25 for a bolognaise, you’d expect it to be brilliant… which it wasn’t. Other competitor Italians in London are far better & significantly better priced

Basically an obscenely and overpriced Pizza Joint. Food was good but ridiculously expensive with Starters masquerading as Main Courses and when presented with the bill a Cover Charge of £1.90 per head had been applied and when I asked the waiter what the Cover Charge was for he replied rather sheepishly that it was for the table cloth...Really! To conclude, if you want to be well and truly ripped off with extremely small and very expensive portions of food, lacklustre service and a farcical cover charge then this is the place to go otherwise I suggest you avoid.

Having gone past this restaurant many times it always seemed interesting from the outside. Having seen the ratings/reviews on gmaps though I would check it out. It was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. The place is not that big and the ambiance not that amazing considering the prices. Also one of our waiters (and it was just one of them) had a strange approach asking and challenging our menu choices. He was a bit intense. For the prices charged at this place this should not ben happening. There are much nicer places on King's road from an experience ambience and service perspective.

The staff here are just wonderful, top service and lovely chat whilst I had lunch alone - highly recommend the seafood pasta and the panna cotta!! Don’t leave without trying them
