We had a very warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. We only had coffee and cake but they were all superb and the waitress was excellent. I’d certainly use this cafe again.

My husband and I popped in for a cup of tea during the Sunday of the Christmas dickens weekend. The lady who served was pleasant but the other member of staff was rude to 3 older ladies who were having tea. Their friend who wanted to join them was told to go outside as they were closing at 4pm. The time was 3.15 Plenty of time to serve an elderly lady a cup of tea with her friends and wash up a cup. We love the Dickens weekend but would not return here for the dried up cake and miserable staff member. The shop must have had a good weekend financially and should treat customers with respect and be grateful for the extra footfall.

Found this small cafe tucked away at the top of the high st , when all the trendy cafes which have sprung up in Rochester recently are charging up to £8 for a sandwich it was refreshing to find a more than reasonably priced placeThe food here is excellent and I would highly recommended the Welsh rarebit, lovely tea served in a pot with loose tea not tea bags , unfortunately the only thing that slightly lets it down is the service They do not even acknowledge you when you come in and the general service is at best abrupt ! We first ate here last Summer, which was nice so we decided to return at the weekend. The cafe still has a nice feel/setting (personally feel its far better than Tiny Tim's visited earlier in the day).Couple of things I felt let it down this time. It was a very busy weekend due to the Xmas Market, we were seated fairly quickly, but then 3 others were seated at our table also. I wouldn't have minded sharing a table but i should have been asked, not instructed it was happening. Secondly the chocolate cake (appeared shop bought) my husband had (see pic) was tiny, half the size of other cakes but still charged at £3, which was overpriced Overall though we still enjoyed our lunch visit. Its still a lovely setting and the jackets potatoes and coffee were good.

The tea was nice, came in a large pot & brewed nicely. The cream tea could have had better jam. The bad points: The cakes were very dry, would have been better buying some from a local shop. So myself and family took a visit today and was happy with the food and drink but the customer service was something else. My mother and I had ordered a hot sandwich each and wanted to ketchup. The lady who served us only asked my step dad specifically if he wanted any sauces and left to quick for my mum and I to ask. When she finally came back my mum asked nicely and the lady was so rude and said well you only asked for brown sauce and stropped off and literally smashed the ketchup on our table. This lady seemed to sound rude to all her customers and probably has no idea in just how rude she comes across. A shame for a cute little cafe.

The tea rooms have a lovely ambience and the afternoon tea was delicious. The staff particularly the older blonde lady have a terrible manner. She banged things into the table whilst serving us and other customers. I watched her take the payment from another customer without any thank you or goodbye. My granddaughter wanted to take the pot of jam as she hadn't eaten it and we were told that it would be 50 pence extra. We decided to leave it. I notice other customers have complained about this too! I think it is bad business to upset customers over a pot of jam that cost pennies wholesale! I think they would be better not serving it in the jam jar and putting it in the same pot as the clotted cream which you clearly wouldn't take with you if you are taking any uneaten cakes home from an afternoon tea. I also over heard them mocking a customer who had phoned them enquiring after booking a table once the call had finished.

My son and I spent a week in Rochester at the beginning of August and we had a snack lunch at Mrs. Tickit’s Pantry on one of the days. This is a very “superior” type of tearoom, with very pretty, fine bone china and "real" loose tea with a strainer and no teabags! My son had a Welsh Rarebit for lunch, which he said was very good, and I had a cream tea, with two scones and sufficient jam and cream. (I very much dislike cafés which are niggardly with these). As well as very good homemade food, we particularly appreciated the general ambience of Mrs. Tickit’s, which on balance was our favourite of the places we sampled for lunch. The lady, one of two sisters, was very friendly. Anyone who chooses Mrs. Tickit's for lunch for lunch will not be disappointed.

Rochester High Street is awash with eateries. The one's closer to the middle of the High Street tend to fill up rapidly at lunchtime, and we walked past several at about 1 o'clock on a Saturday in early October that were full. Walking as we were towards the Medway Bridge, and very close to the end of the High Street, we stopped and looked in to Mrs Ticket's Pantry. A few customers but tables available. The menu displayed a wide range of foods so we decided to lunch here. Taking a table in what is a relatively small establishment, we were rapidly served by a young woman who took our order for 2 cups of tea and 2 tuna mayo panini's. The tea arrived in a beautiful china teapot, with matching cups and saucers, and I was especially impressed to see that tea leaves had been used and not the standard tea bags. Well done for this! The panini's followed, and were nice with a side salad that was substantial. The whole bill came to a shade over £10 which I thought was good value for money. We left happy, and will return!

Excellent food and service. The tea was excellent. The scones were a great size and had a perfect taste and texture. Will be back as soon as possible to try other menu items.

6 of us went for the meal on a Sunday, aiming to have a roast, a little disappointed they didn't do chicken. Those in the group who had the roast said it was delicious and well worth the money. Would recommend this place.
