My partner and I ate here the other day and it was perfect absolutely amazing definitely can't complain, food was top notch, people are very pleasant. Lovely experience would definitely recommend

Nice to find a pie mash shop in Rochester. We're Londoners and haven't eaten in Pie Mash shops for some 40 years and was not sure what to expect. All we can say it was average and the good thing was the price. Not too sure we'd go again. but the experience wasn't horrible. Just I think we're used to better.

Authentic pie and mash. South London born and bred and brought up on pie and mash, this place is the real thing. Pies made in house, not bought in from manzes / Goddard's. Nice rustic mash and thick liqueur. Tea only £1 which is a bonus and the pie and mash is reasonably priced (£5.80 when I went in sept 2024) Staff really friendly, and they also do a vegetarian version (my partner had it and said it was nice. )

Being a Londoner in Kent this is a godsend the food is delicious and very friendly staff…. My only one criticism is for such a nice restaurant the toilets could do with a sprucing up there very run down. But that is the only downside

No where else in Medway can you get a decent Pie, mash & liquor Keep coming back, it's great food.

Nice, clean place with plenty of seating and friendly staff. I would have given 5 stars because I demolished the whole plate but I think there are a couple kinks that need ironing out. The pies need some gravy inside them as they're a bit dry but the flavour is good, maybe a couple more varieties of pies and a homemade gravy would make this place even more of a hot spot.

Came to Rochester for a shopping trip and saw this lovely pie and mash shop. Food was great, liquor was thick and tasty, service was brilliant. It is cash only, but staff advised there is a cash machine nearby, that charges for withdrawal or the post office is free. Highly recommend for value and a lovely cuppa to boot.

Before traveling to Rochester, I found this restaurant with good ratings on the Internet. There is no need to wait for a seat on weekdays at noon. The table distance is spacious and comfortable. After ordering at the counter and paying, you can find a place to sit and wait. The food will be delivered by the store staff. The prices of the meals here are very affordable. I was surprised when I ate eel mashed potatoes for the first time. It had a completely different flavor! Since it was my first time to visit, the clerk explained the menu to me very kindly, which I really appreciate. The dining experience is good, but the only drawback is that I can't pay by credit card (fortunately, I brought cash🥲). I hope to have the opportunity to try other pie dishes in the future.

Eaten from here quiet a lot and always been bang on ,but today sadly it was a disappointment. The pies just didn't Taste as they should pastry wasn't that nice and filling taste completely different ,

Great traditional P+M. Pies were really decent quality which isn't always the case at traditional P+M shops, loads of filling. Staff friendly & efficient.

Great pie and mash and liquor in Rochester tea and soft drinks etc can't say more than that apart from good value lunch. Can also have ells.

This pie and mash is as good as arments at the Woolworth road and liquor is blinding someone's done their homework and got it right 5 stars

I liked it, lot's. I took a friend who lives not too far away who didn't know about the Cathedral Pie House and he said he'd definitely be going back. I do recommend popping in for a bite to eat if you are in the area.

Lovely double pie and mash for two with liquor and cup of tea run by a guy who knows abouts pie and mash. Wish they did decaff tea and coffee.

Had a home delivery today. Not hot and did not need blowing on! The Large size Liquor is small. Heaven knows how little you get if you order a small Liquor. Not impressed

I grew up in South East London and grew up loving pie, mash and green liquor. I have tried many places looking for a plate that takes me back. So often the pies are crispy, or have too much gravy or the liquor is watery. For a birthday treat in the past, we have travelled to Manze's in Greenwich but now we have found the Cathedral Pie House in Rochester which is on our doorstep!!! It is as authentic as you can get!! We did takeaway for my birthday this year and even after warming it up at home, it is was perfect. We used the microwave to heat up the mash and to make sure the pie crust wasn't hard. The liquor was heated on the hob... it was perfect. Can't wait to go back and eat in....

This is one of my favourite pie and mash shops and I know on its day it can produce pie and mash second to none . So it pains me to say I’ve got to write this review and cancel my old glowing review . This is because , on the last two visits the food wasn’t up to scratch . What happened I don’t know. New cooks maybe ? But such a shame . The last straw for me was anaemic pies half cooked with dry lumpy mash ? Come on ! You can do better than that .

Bit hit and miss had it about 10 times since moving, sometimes the mash is a little too smooth and tastes a bit like smash ( I believe it is made fresh ) Other times it has a few lumps and more akin to regular pie and mash shops. Liquor is bang on Chilli vinegar is a bit of a let down don't really get much chilli from it. Pies 9/10 have been brilliant can't fault them inside the pie is already seasoned so go easy of the salt..... but for a local one to Kent it's probably the best I've had around here.

First time in the pie and mash shop on the high street. Authentic pie and mash isn't easy to find, lots of pretenders and tryers around Kent. Some come close but not quite there. Was in the Rochester area so thought I'd try. I spoke to the young man about his recipe and was impressed but even more so when I got my plate of 2 pies, single mash and liquor. I was very impressed with the whole meal. Excellent pies, liquor and mash as you'll see in my photo. Will definately eat here again and have told family and friends to try.

Unarguably the best pie and mash I've had since our last visit to Manze in Deptford. Great food and a great owner. Cant give enough stars .

Absolutely horrible went in there before to have food wasn't great and then went In there today asked the lady if my son could use the toilet and hes only 5 and because my other 2 chikdren came in with me and needed the toilet a man came out and had a massive go at me and my children that if we weren't paying customers we were not allowed to use the toilets. He upset myself and my kids and saying there were other customers waiting even though there was barely anyone in there and told us very rudely to get out I won't be returning for anything there again as it clearly isn't family friendly nor considerate towards young children I would not recommend this place if u want good service or kind customer care. I ended up in tears over the whole thing and found his attitude appalling. Also extremely overpriced.

Being an East Ender, brought up on the "food of champions", what a pleasure to find pukka pie & mash in Rochester, also with eels (stewed and jellied). Every bit as good as most London shops and a whole lot closer to home. Lovely job, keep it up and good luck. I keep meaning to take photos, but just get stuck in instead. They are simply getting better and better every time.

Best Pie Mash in town and has the proper traditional taste

I've wanted to try this place for ages, two visits in two days says it all. Excellent pies, liquor really traditional, the mash brilliant. I enjoyed the hot eels, not so keen on the jellied. I also took a takeaway. One of the best if not the best I've been too.

I will never go back .small amount of mash .plate cold. Over £17 for 2 pie and double mash.x2 and two cups of tea. I got ripped off.

Me and my wife have been brought up on pie, mash and liquor in good old London town. And it makes a lovely change to find a great pie and mash shop in Medway. We've even tried to bring our children and grandchildren up on the stuff. This pie and mash shop is the only one that we've been to in the Medway towns and we've ALL actually enjoyed the whole plate full. Emmmmmm. No offense to the others that try to pull it off, but some of there efforts of good old pie and mash, well I've just gone through the motions of eating as much as I could just for the sake of me being hungry and just trying it. LOL But anyone that knows there stuff, will always know a good bit of the English persons meal. 🥰 Emmmmmm, lovely jubbly.

Fantastic pie and mash. Best I've had.

They are good usually and I go there quite often. But be always careful when you’re paying they overcharged me and I had to ask for change twice and recalculate and then got my right change back with an apology, though I think the lady on till tried to trick me.

They had their teething issues when they first opened like all business. But since then, they have had it down to a tee. There’s consistency every time you go (unlike some other establishments) which is great. You’ll enjoy it. Only slight quibble is that it’s cash only. So I always go to the post office a few doors down before to withdraw.
