Mr Yummy in Birmingham

It's cheap and cheerful. Can't go wrong with the food here, not the tastiest Chinese in this area but still very good, they will serve you with a complimentary bowl of soup and spring roll, which is nice.

This is the first time I've seen a place in the UK where people throw drinks or spoons at people, or get angry when taking orders. I was very dissatisfied, but the food... was really delicious. I ate 7.5 pounds of tomato and egg rice because they said it would only be paid in cash... wow, that was crazy. It's the #1 packaged food I've eaten recently. There was a lot of rice in the soup and this was... so delicious.

Average food quality. Not Very delicious but friendly price for students.

Excellent establishment. Everything freshly cooked in house, portions are exceptional value, absolutely filling. Staff eager to help although very limited English. Menu is extensive but easy to order from. Downside is cash only. Would very much recommend the chicken curry with egg fried rice, and equally the kung po chicken with egg fried rice. Chopsticks and a spoon provided with every meal.

The food was quite tasty. We ordered fried rice along with chow mein ,The portions of the meals are very generous compared to other places, we went twice already and we really liked it

Been here multiple times now. Student friendly prices. Exceptional service , I always receive my order in under ten minutes! Today I waited two minutes for my customised order of rice to be cooked from scratch ! Fantastic place for students. It allows me to treat myself to a take out ❣️ 100% would recommend. Excellent !

I have been craving noodles for a long time and oh my ! This dish surly is satisfying. The portion is generous and tastes great. Cash only unless you have Chinese paying app.

Disappointed by the customer service. Mind you it's never been good but never this bad either. They speak little English which is fine cuz you can just point at the menu but they treat non-Chinese customers differently. No basic customer service skills, no communication. The only times I've felt welcome here was when I would come with my Hong Kong friend. The girl who took my order looked almost bothered by my presence there but smiled at Chinese customers. Rude tone too. Ordered kung pao chicken and the A1 option. When I got home I realized she didn't give me the chicken dish but another beef one. I don't know how she misunderstood since there's no beef dish next to it on the menu. They used to put a tea egg in the rice but not anymore which is disappointing. They sometimes give free soup with your order. Except that today I had to ask for it even tho the takeaway order before mine got free soup and so did everyone at the tables inside. The food itself is good, tho the A1 option was just decent, the "sauce" is just red oil that sinks to the bottom and doesn't give much flavor so I wouldn't recommend it. Good if you want to try more "authentic" Chinese food but you'll probably be treated differently if you're not Chinese.

friendly and homely ambience, especially appreciated on a cool rainy evening : ) the spicy lamb is exceedingly delicious and fried with passion, definitely shall return for it. the hotness could be adjusted, I think different degrees of hotness would certainly add to the subtle nuances of this famed dish of the northern provinces. lovely and reasonably priced 💞

What an amazing good meal for a very responsible price, if you want a good Chinese meal and have a budget this is the place to go

Family run eatery with authentic Chinese food. Good portions and reasonably priced. Lots of UoB Chinese students here attest to the authentic taste and flavours.

Nice restaurant love the food smell as I enter the premises and the food is superb and amazing. I love the same order as I had it lots of times before and the prices are affordable.

I originally rated this 5 stars based on my first visit, but I've been here 5+ times now & it's a 3 at best. The mixed seafood in oyster sauce (£8.90) was great but the beef in black bean sauce and chicken teriyaki are BAD. The beef tasted soapy and the chicken teriyaki was in bland brown gravy. The portion sizes are good but the food is bland, go to cafe 55 or Woodstock cafe instead. The most seasoned bit is defo the free spring rolls on the side.

After reading the positive feedback I'm amazed! Mr yummy? More like oh my gosh my tummy! Yukky! The chicken kung po wasn't too bad, no better than a microwave meal tho! The beef brisket with green peppers/rice! GHASTLY we had to leave it! cold, covered in lard, just horrible. Its in my top 5 least favourite eateries in Birmingham as of now! PROS,? The rice was pretty decent and the establishment was clean and it was cheap.

Great food. Little bit pricey for what it is but portion size was decent. Food was piping hot and tasty. Worth a visit. However only take cash. Ordered a chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken, both of which were tasty and seasoned well. If you’re in the area and looking for a tasty takeaway, visit here!

Nice food and efficient service- only waited 10 mins for food. Please be aware it is CASH ONLY. Very reasonably priced and the sweet and sour chicken was delicious. Will be going back to try more dishes!

Guy at the counter was on his phone and totally ignored me for about 4 minutes and I had to interrupt his conversation to actually serve me. Then he didn't listen to my order. SuiZen's down the road wasn't open which is much better and I was hungry. What an ignorant guy. And he didn't give me the free soup either!

Had a problem with the pizzaI phoned them and they sent another one straight Away. It was lovely would and the kebab would recommend it to anyone

Very nice authentic Chinese food in the heart of Selly Oak, food is tasteful and portions are great, quick service. Staff doesn’t speak much English, but you can communicate somehow.

Simple comfort food done right for a reasonable price . No complaints; won’t get sick of the place. Unfortunately given the staff doesn’t speak English , it may be an issue catering to non chinese speakers. I hope they improve this aspect of their service.

It's one of the better Chinese restaurants in Selly Oak, you can see the kitchen and it is very clean which is nice to see. The food is decent quality at a fair price.

Great little authentic cafe, big portions for £7-9, several veggie options, hand gel at the counter, friendly service although limited English when we went but easy enough to communicate our order. Of note, it's cash only. Great for a late lunch/early dinner. Would definitely return or order delivery.

Delicious, had spring rolls and vegetable noodles for a very reasonable price, and was not disappointed when the bag was full with about 10 spring rolls !! Just to note that this restaurant is cash only! Thank you to the guy on the counter for being so understanding, will definitely be returning

Excellent service and friendly staff

A Chinese Restaurant for Chinese people. Order by numbers and pointing at the menu and don't expect a warm welcome. Felt they would have preferred it if I took the food away with me but it was all good. I had steamed pork with green beans (no. 20) which was unexpectedly tender and tasty, and the portion was enormous. Disappointed not to have had the chance to get back there this week. Not your average takeaway - prices slightly high but eat-in dinners are good value.

The food is so so good and the portions are really generous! There are so many options on the menu as well.

Haven't tried the food, just purely went there for bubble tea which I was very disappointed with. The only bubbles they have to offer are tapioca and their tea is very watery.

Price to portion ratio it's very good! Although all the Asians got a free soup I didn't, I cant say the food is authentic, but I tried several dishes, and the quality was very good!

Excellent warm service, it offers free starter soup. I've tried almost all the Chinese food restaurants in Birmingham and This is the most normal Chinese food I've had in Birmingham. Don't be cheated by those so called Chinese food which are greasy and full of sugar and starch, they are not Chinese food.

Food is of great portion, delicious. If you don't take away, it will offer you starter soup, and serve you with good looking dish. I love the Sichuan cuisine cooked here, highly recommended.
