Mr Woods Cafe in North Tyneside

£4.10 for a regular hazelnut latte. Go elsewhere for a coffee. I couldn’t believe how much the coffee was here I was flabbergasted.

Dropped in for coffee and have to say it was the best I’ve had for years. Scones were very good also. Definitely recommend and will visit again.

Superb, apart from the little 'chair monitor' who made people feel uncomfortable by moving them tables after they were settled. Wouldnt mind but tables people were moved from remained free. Just something stupid that spoilt the experience. Ps, we werent the only people this happened too

Went here to have a drink with a friend in the morning. The atmosphere was odd to say the least; nightclub music playing, extremely hot and dark . The windows were steaming up which is a concern given the need for ventilation during a pandemic. Had been an old favourite!

Love coming here for a hot drink don’t drink tea or coffee but love the hot pear or hot cranberry they do nice sandwiches as well

Myself and my wife use this cafe on a regular basis. On arrival we ordered 1 tea ,1 coffee and a scone ( its usually 2 scones) I presented the lady taking our order with 2 loyalty cards showing that as we had enough stamps (between them ) then we were entitled to a free coffee. She said that as my stamps were not on the same card that i could not have the free drink . Saying that as customers were forgeting to bring there cards and using another one the owner would let let me add the stamps together As i have gained these stamps buy spending my money in this cafe then i feel let down . Surely an explenation of the rules about using these cards in the future and still giving us our entitled drink would have made better business sense . As it was we walked out without buying ANYTHING and will not return . How many loyal customers have they chased away ?

We were visiting Tynemouth market on a Sunday and came across this coffee shop. It was a hot sunny day and everywhere was busy but we managed to get a table outside at Mr Woods. You go inside & place your order then the waitress brought it out to us. We only had coffee and fruit scones which were lovely but you can also get sandwiches, paninis etc. Will definitely go back here next time we're there.

Great prices, produce and plenty of seating inside or out. Lots of snack style food items to choose from

I struggle to find decent coffee in the North East and Mr Woods is one of the few places that do a decent coffee.. I usually drink macchiato but today it was flooded with milk not quite a cappuccino but somewhere in the middle.. Plus this branch does not have toilets!!! Weird

Stopped here for coffee & cake with my son... delicious... staff were lovely, in particular Janet, so warm & welcoming. Next time I’m in the north east I will definitely be coming here

This café / coffee shop over looks the ruins of the castle and is situated at the end of the high street. It has plenty of outdoor seating and is large inside too. Staff were engaging and friendly and the snacks tasty. Very happy to recommend.

Stopped for breakfast on the way to work. Good location - in the centre of North Shields, right next to the Metro station. Good range of hot and cold food and drink on offer. Service was quick - ideal when you don't have much time.

Mr woods sermine is not great as the serving area is to small . Staff cannot work effectively to help customers in my opinion. Disappointed you are allowing dogs in but your happy to let us buyour and then sit outside in all weatherooms.

I love coming here. It is my first choice for coffee in North Shields. I always prefer to support local businesses when I can. The staff are great and friendly and the coffee is tasty. Good choice of cakes, though I wish there was a plain scone on offer as I don’t like fruit or cheese. The choice of sandwiches could be improved if they were able to make them to order, or even made on the day in another shop and delivered to other stores daily.

Called in when shopping in Shields as have visited Mr Woods in Tynemouth and found it good. By the way why are both cafes lumped together in one site? Anyway as we approached the door I thought it was closed for renovation as the floor was wet and looked worn and patchy with all the tables round the walls. However I seen some customers at tables so went in through the open door which remained open for the duration of our visit despite the weather being cold and wet.This may have been to dry the floor or keep the staff cool. Why the floor was being washed at 2 PM was beyond me, surely this should be done at closing time.

Close to the Castle and Priory you will find mr woods who serves a perfect cup of tea, knows his coffees and does tasty sandwiches and cakes. His ice cream is delicious as well. Sit outside and see the Castle while drinking your tea.

I find all Mr Woods cafe's very reasonable and the staff are always very pleasant and make the visit enjoyable

Me hubiera puntuado más alto, si este fue basado en el Señor Woods en North Shields como siempre recibir un buen servicio de este café. Sin embargo, la semana pasada visité el Café wallsend y me emocionó y horrorizados por el servicio! Nos tratan como si fuéramos un inconveniente a la tienda, y los miembros del personal parecía discutir entre ellos quién iba a servir! Nos decían que si queríamos crema y no 'hola' o 'despedidas de su personal grosero miembros completamente Espero que el dueño lee esto y empieza a visitar la cafetería wallsend más a menudo ya que es dejar que la reputación del resto de los cafés!

Just way way over priced... the place in Northumberland Park is a disgrace...they dont even stock cream !!

Una hora tarde última tarde viernes google cerca de tiendas de café mostraron un montón de otros lugares de cierre en 1600, pero como era ya 1540 que estaba buscando un lugar que estaba abierto un poco más tarde y el Sr. Woods afortunadamente, así que nos encontramos. Dieron un asiento con vistas al mar, gran café (personal agradable y fuerte plana blanca) y encantador. Estaban bien. Traybakes Sin duda, volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en la zona.

Right in the heart of North Shields love going there for a hot cranberry or hot pear drink £160 love it, they also do maple syrup and apple, they also have lovely cakes yum yum

This place always feels the most basic of the Mr Woods chain. Having said that the standards of the food and cleanliness are just as high. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Always good for a quick bite or a chat with friends. Excellent value for money. Grab a seat when you can !

Highly recommend the White Hot Chocolate. Also a very good choice of cakes, Chocolate Orange being my favourite. Good cosy seating area and also offers blankets if you want to sit outside.

This was our favourite cafe until it was refurbished. It lost all its charm but that's a personal opinion. The friendly regular staff have been replaced by staff who seem robotic in their duties. Cappuchino coffee is now usually 1/2 a cup of froth unless you point this out when purchasing. In my opinion the scones have always been of a poor quality - no "home baked" here. Never the less it seems always full, probably because it's got the best aspect in Tynemouth. We are attempting to find an alternative elsewhere, it's not easy!

Always get great service and a warm welcome here when I visit. Prices are far lower than the nearby Costa and the coffee is so much nicer. The beans used taste delicious and rich. Cannot fault this place at all, will always be my number 1 stop for coffee!

I came here for coffee after a walk with my parents. It's in a nice location, on the corner with nice views over the bay. Coffee and cakes great, good value too. Recommended.

Really love it here the coffees and the milkshakes are so good and there cakes and ice cream is good too,really recommend it here and the people who work there are really nice.

We've called here several times on on our visits to the area, we have never been disappointed, the staff are always friendly and the service good. We enjoyed a lovely coffee and a warm mince pie this time, just the thing after a walk on a cold November morning. We will visit again on our next trip to this lovely part of the coast.

Went for a coffee and slice of cake. Waitress advised do not take cards for less than a fiver. This is a cafe! I do not intend spending more than a fiver in this type of place. It is 2015 after all. I left without the coffee as had no cash and I went to a cheaper cafe round the corner who accepted my card. I will not return to Mr Woods.

As a regular in the cafe we have never had any problems and staff are friendly but my visit today with was appalling we were disgusted by the attitude of a member of staff who served us with absolutely no manners and was very rude. Also the woman standing in as supervisor for the day was very rude when we complained about the terrible attitude of a member of staff. What happened to customer service and the customer is always right??!! Very dissapointned today and will be seeing the manager as the one standing in today had nothing but attitude and redness! Certainly nothing to be proud of and will loose alot of good custom

Great place to sit outside and watch the world go by while enjoying a coffee and a cake. Often very busy on a sunny day but worth the wait.They also have a reward coffee scheme,buy 6 (used to be 10)and have the 7 th free.I do find the sandwiches bland but they do jam (or Nutella) sandwiches for kids.

Popped in to get a quick coffee and was pleasantly surprised, good coffee friendly staff. Good choice of snacks, cakes and light bites.

Been to this cafe many times, thought it was time that they got a review! This is a great little place to go and it really does appeal to me. They do great coffee over a descent range. The decor is stripped back urban, industrial in a simple colour scheme with fashionable lighting. The seating is comfortable and well arranged. Service is always quick and all of the staff have been more than pleasant every time we have called in. Kids are welcome and high chairs are available for little ones. Dogs are welcome to sit outside.

Coffee and food is always very good and good value but the rules regarding where you are allowed to sit with your dog I find a bit odd? Only certain seats are available for doggy people but if these seats are occupied by non dog owners and the rest of the place is empty you have to leave. Makes me feel less inclined to make the trip there as you cannot tell whether you will be "allowed" to stay.............other cafés that allow dogs are less strict so I shall be going there I think, just to save on embarrassment :-(

I go for a milkshake several times every week, which tells you all you need to know about the place, friendly staff and quality of what they serve me. They also have a café in Tynemouth that I visit occasionally

No hesitation recomending this coffee shop as the prices are pretty decent, the staff are always friendly and mist importantly you get a decent tasting coffee :)

I had the best tasting coffee I have had for ages and very much enjoyed a slice of carrot cake. There was an excellent choice of cakes and it was hard to decide what to have.A very good cafe and well worth a visit. Friendly staff who knew lots of their customers, so the locals must return regularly. I will definitely return.
