Mr Wok Thai Noodle Bar in Plymouth

We were recommended Mr Wok by our family and we couldn't have been more impressed. Thai is usually a 'no go' as my wife is a coeliac (gluten free) however gluten free options were clearly marked on the takeaway menu, and ordering online was easy (including marking individual dishes as gluten free). This made the booking experience a lot more simple, as no need to ring the restaurant to go through all of the allergens in each dish!We had Pad Thai with chicken, Thai basil beef and a special rice with beef. All were delicious and more than enough for the two of us. We also ordered two slices of cheesecake (gluten free of course) which were also very tasty. All of this (including delivery) was just shy of £30, which we thought was very reasonable. Delivery driver also followed COVID secure distancing on drop-off.We will definitely order again and will recommend to others too!

The food was fresh, colourful and warming. There was plenty of sauce which was beautifully balanced. Great variety, fast preparation, friendly staff and brilliant value for money. Well worth a visit!

I absolutely love Thai food. I have been out to Thailand many times and adore the food, so I have tried most Thai places locally, this is the best! The food is incredible and priced so it’s affordable for anyone, my personal favourite is the chilli beef but I also love the satay skewers! The staff are always really attentive, can’t wait for the fish bar to open again after Covid lockdown!

We recently at here and the food was excellent. Full of flavour and good portion sizes. We were pleasantly surprised and will certainly be visiting again soon.

Los últimos 2 pedidos, parece que los conductores de entrega no pueden recibir instrucciones ni mirar el ticket. ¿El anterior fue a la dirección incorrecta? ? ¿Solo 2 pubs en nuestro camino y solo 1 con nuestro nombre? El intento de hoy fue mejor. Llamó desde el automóvil estacionado en la parada de autobús afuera de nuestro pub preguntando dónde estábamos. ? Le dije que mirara y viera una puerta y al lado está la puerta del pub. Pasó por delante de la puerta y subió por la calle. ! ¿Están empleando numpty? . . Yo culpo a los navegadores por satélite.

The wait times for takeaway are always quite long but definitely worth it. The pad thai and spring rolls are always really fresh tasting and delicious

Hola, la experiencia de trabajar en Mr Wok no ha sido la mejor, por decir lo menos. Como me despidieron por un turno que en realidad no estaba programado (bastante ridículo) sobre el texto, puedo agregar, sin previo aviso ni advertencia. Cuando me preguntaron los motivos de mi despido, recibí respuestas mínimas y todo lo relacionado con el desorden en un turno en el que ni siquiera estaba presente. Toda esta experiencia de trabajar en Mr Woks como limpiador no ha sido buena en absoluto. Muy poco profesional y desorganizado. Los limpiadores son culpados de todo lo que está mal con el Sr. Wok, incluso cuando es un fontanero que ha roto sus lavavajillas. Esto se ha roto durante meses y hoy recibí una foto de esto por una de las razones de mi despido de un gerente que nunca he visto o que incluso me ha hablado en persona. Iré al consejo de los ciudadanos sobre este despido injusto. No recomendaría a nadie que trabaje como limpiador para esta empresa.

Recently ordered a takeaway from Mr Wok, I ordered the Thai green curry. The sauce was spot on, I ordered a medium and it was what a medium should be which is nice as a lot of places go far hotter than asked. The rice was sticky and just to my liking. The let down was that it was full of onion and not much chicken. Will definitely be asking for no onion next time. Lots of pepper which I liked but far too much onion. Will definitely be going back again though

The food was absolutely delicious, and the customer service was fantastic. Very friendly environment and the food came out very quickly!

Three of us came in, the restaurant seemed a bit busy but our food was still delivered surprisingly quick and the staff were very nice and friendly

They have about twenty stools at the shelf benches between the entrance and the counter, obviously intended for people who eat in. Twice since Christmas (once after Just Eat persistently thwarted efforts to order online), we have tried eat in. We enjoy the food here but, each time we were told we’d have to wait a long time, first about an hour and today 25 minutes. What’s the point of having provision for and inviting people into an empty space only to tell them they’ll have to wait so long, even when the fresh cooked tasty meals are constantly being produced in direct line of sight within handful of minutes each. They should abandon eat in or have a large unmissable digital clock out by the pavement warning the public and intending customers just how long they will be kept waiting.

Brilliant food and the alcoholic bubble tea was really fun. Great value for money and exceptional service! Would definitely recommend Mr Wok to anyone looking some extremely good Thai food.

Always a favourite with me and my Wife now my two Girls Love Mr Woks Meals so no surprise when I Ask my Daughter what she wanted for her Birthday Tea “Mr Woks Please” came her reply so thank you again for a superb meal went and picked it up as they are very busy at Weekends and didn’t Disappoint always freshly cooked and very tasty always takes me back to Thailand when I taste there food Thanks again

Having eaten at Mr Wok's a fair few times we thought it was high time we actually left a review! Mr Wok's has never disappointed. The service is always very good and the food comes quickly, without it leaving you feeling like you've eaten fast food. The dishes themselves are always wonderful, packed full of flavour and always piping hot. It's lovely to have places in Plymouth where you can get authentic Thai food, a great portion size and at a really great price. We would highly recommend the Massaman, Panang and the Pad Thai. Now both being pescatarian both the veggie or prawn options are beautiful. Great to find a bit of variety beyond feta and butternut squash!

Mr Wok is considered one of the best Asian-Thai restaurant in Plymouth! They have never failed me whenever I dined! Kudos to the team.

I always have eaten king prawns with noodles and extra prawns here. Chef puts attention to detail in his cooking and ingredients. Great prices too!

Have been twice now with my girlfriend to this establishment and would rate 5/5 each time. Had the kway teow noodle soup the first time which brought back memories of my time in Malaysia and Thailand. It was surprisingly authentic in comparison to other places I have tried and would definitely order again. Second time round I ordered chilli pork noodles from the chef’s special part of the menu which didn’t disappoint either with the pork cooked really well. My vegan girlfriend had the Bangkok hot box twice in a row now with tofu and can’t get enough of it. Anyone out there wanting a spice challenge order this meal and ask for the maximum spice range!! My girlfriend is a spice veteran and said it was one of the best spicy noodle dishes she’s had!

One of the best Thai food places I have been to and certainly the best pad thai I have had in Plymouth. The ambience of the noodle bar is incredibly cozy and the manager is so welcoming and lovely. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Piss taking chef gave me 4 prawns in my noodles meal. obviously cant count very well. Love Mr Wok, just feel that they are moving into a fast food franchise direction. So that means standard budget ingredients and skimping on them as well. Coconut milk rice is getting watered down. Crackers should be free for every order over £15 as u pay £1 per delivery. Mr Wok, your rinsing it with your taste and your customers with their wallet. Dont mind your prices, but do mind your slacky attitude.

Back again and always good. Both had crispy chilli beef noodles. Well sized portions & really tasty. Great value at £7 each

I love Thai cuisine. I was looking for good food in the area, unfortunately I did not find. a friend recommended this place to me. I will definitely come back here because I love nudle in a box. portions are large and very tasty. My 18 month old son ate nudle and he was very happy. my daughter too.

Serendipitous find on the way from ferry terminal to train station, late at night. We were looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat and were about to give up when we glimpsed this place. Great food and brilliant value for money

This a low quality fast food noodle place. Does not try to do authentic Thai dishes. Soups are watered down. Flavours are scrambled and dumbed down for a western taste. Even at their prices, nowhere near value. Disappointed.

I like the food here, I really do. I just think 3 hours is too long to wait, especially when only part of the order turns up and it’s really cold. Unfortunately this is not a ‘one off’ this is the 3rd time in a row. I thought if I got in early and ordered at 4.45 I could feed the kids before 8pm this time. Sadly not. As much as I like their coriander prawns me and Mr Wok are breaking up and I will be seeing other restaurants.

The food here was perfect, we came here just before dropping my daughter at Uni.

Collected a couple of Thai basil stir fry boxes. Well fit for purpose. Ready 10mins from call and no delay despite a lot of other orders and organised frenzy in the kitchen. Only £6 each so we got some other stuff too. Tasty and good value. Got glared at by bouncers from corner pub for pausing on the double yellows. All good clean fun.

Ordered a prawn box ended up with chicken !! Is nice and hot but that’s what my partner told me gutted the place didn’t read order properly was looking forward to it to thanks again for the wrong meal with what was paid £20 for two and wrong order wasn’t happy at all

Brilliant pad Thai. Best one I have a had in Plymouth to date. Would 100% reccomend anyone staying in Plymouth to try this place out.

What a rare find! Don't be put off by the name, the food is amazing! Great authentic Thai dishes and a large range of vegan options as well as meat options. Bubble tea and homemade cheesecake make this place all the more special. Try the Massaman curry, the best I have ever had! Cheap, fantastic service and food is simply the best I have tasted.

Always go here when I have a Thai meal because you know it’s going to be Delicious For starters I had the chicken Satay nice and succulent pieces of Chicken with plenty of sauce then I had the Thai Green Curry with Monkfish loads of Monkfish no skimping there it was enough for two and to complement this I had my Favourite Crab rice which is to die for loads of crab and it was fresh as I could faintly smell the sea Gorgeous the staff are always very friendly as always Smilingthanks for a lovely Meal

We have had this delivered through Just Eat several times now and it never dissappoints. The food is absolutely delicious, very high quality, freshly cooked and generously portioned, and very good value too. Delivery time is also reasonable - we have never waited more than about 45 minutes. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

I ordered ONE bubble tea, had to wait 30 minutes and it hadn’t come so I asked for my money back, meanwhile people who came in and ordered food after me had finished and left whilst I was still waiting. I asked how long it would take as I was in a rush and I got a poor answer where the member of staff said dunno depends how long they take in the back. Overall I’m really disappointed with my 30 minute wait and not even getting the drink and the poor, careless attitude of the staff.

This is our fourth time here in a week. The food is amazing. Don’t be put off by the fact it’s a small place that resembles a surf shack.....you certainly won’t be disappointed if you give this place a try.

Firstly, the waiter was extremely courteous and attentive. He was cheery, came straight over to check we were OK and then took our drinks orders. He offered us the extended menu and seemed genuinely happy we were there.

Sadly I think this is the truth about this place, the food is definitely not cooked in a Wok.. try it you will see what I mean

I've visited Mr. wok many times and I have always been very happy with the food and the service. My favourite meal is the Bangkok hot box. The food always comes with a smile and a friendly face!

So I’ve just discovered the noodle life and wanted to come here for ages. The noodles were absolutely lush, staff were lovely and service was on the whole really nice.

I love rice noodles and would eat them as often as I can get them . These were good , Thai See-ew box with prawns Excellent flavours , quick efficient and fast service Thank you

We ordered a takeaway for delivery and firstly realised that the spring rolls had been missed from the order. I phoned up to inform them and asked for some prawn crackers to also be sent. I received no apology and actually the guy couldn’t have cared less. I was just told to eat the food that we did have first as if it was acceptable! He informed me that they are not ‘allowed’ to give out free prawn crackers anymore, even when they have messed up our order. That was one thing. We started to eat the food that had been sent (a street box and 2 noodle soup bowls) and it was terrible. All of the dishes were completely bland and dry. To be honest, after ordering from here previously, we expected much better and were shocked at the poor standard. I rang up again 35 minutes after I had first complained that the spring rolls were missing (they still hadn’t appeared at this point) and was told that I would need to ring back tomorrow to speak to a manager. I find it very hard to believe that on a busy Friday night, no one could deal with my complaint. Poor overall to be honest. Don’t feel like the food nor the service we have received was worth £26.

I went into the entrance to Mr Wok on the North Hill side and although it is a small unit with the eating area in a bar formation down either side of the room, it is great for a decent hot meal and the service is really quick. The crispy chilli beef with steamed rice is fantastic and the staff are always friendly when I've been in there.

The food taste great and authentic, especially the chilli beef great choice of cocktails and deserts. I’ve ordered the food for delivery quite a few times but sitting in the restaurant for the same price was a treat. The manager bloom greeted us and she was really helpful and polite. I will be visiting this place on a regular basis.

First time taking away food from here crispy prawn and 3 in flavour sauce/crispy chilli beef with egg noodle and sesame chicken with steam rice so for the size order chicken Satay and spicy pork cake my fav and it’s just as good as eating in the service is always good when coming here seeing a few comments down below about ‘bad service’ made me want to say as regular customer it’s always on point.

Always come to mr wok after work for a stir fry and absolutely love the food ! The service is always quick and polite very nice girl working behind counter she’s very friendly and pretty too! Asked for her name (Kimberly) she’s an asset to your business !

Customer service here is absolutely atrocious. The moment myself and friends walked in the door we were TOLD not asked but TOLD to shut the door within 15 seconds of walking through, then to be spoken to with an awful attitude and no manners when ordering food. No smile, no welcoming hello, made us feel very uncomfortable and came across very unwelcoming. The young girl then got my order wrong and was very rude when I politely asked for them to correct it. Such a shame because the food is delicious.

Visited during a long weekend away to Plymouth. Was by far the best place to get a nice bite to eat in the city centre. Freshly prepared food, with great flavours. You can even pick your spice level for dishes prepared which is great. Loved the Bubble Waffles too with 22 different flavours of ice cream to choose from! Amazing place, will be back very soon.

If you're ordering takeaway and getting it delivered from this restaurant, please avoid at all costs. After placing my order at 6:45pm, by 8:00pm it still hadn't arrived. This was mid week and I was incredibly frustrated as they also didn't answer the phone when I attempted to make contact. Fortunately, I received a refund through the merchant I ordered through, however, this wasn't before they attempted to say it was on the way, making me wait a further 20 minutes before I gave up. Notoriously bad for delivery time and customer service.

We ordered though Just Eat as we normally do. The food at Mr Wok is normally fantastic... And for the most part, it still was very good... Except for 2 things... We ordered spring rolls, and got fried squid instead; as well as the Thai Green stir fry from the chefs specials had little to no Thai green curry paste in! I rang up to mention this and about the wrong dish, but was told "I just don't think you like our recipe"... Now, I work in hospitality, and I will never complain or send something back just because I don't like it. But when the food is advertised as something but is simply not that? C'mon now. It could be as simple as just not adding the Thai Green curry paste, or perhaps not enough. But it just tasted like a plan stir fry with watery soy sauce at the bottom. (Don't get me wrong, if that had been a dish in itself, the food is still good!!)... Just not what was ordered. The spring rolls got delivered 45 minutes following phoning up, but while not a great waiting time as we live 5 - 10 min walk up the road, I understand that this is delivery and I'm sure the company was busy with other orders as well!

I have been ordering food from Mr Wok since it first opened and have never been disappointed. It is consistently delicious and is my favourite place in Plymouth to order take out on the weekend. My favourite dish is the Thai noodle box and crispy squid. Keep up the good work Mr Wok :)

Cracking Thai food at a great price, quick and friendly service, quirky seating admittedly but it really does exactly what it says on the tin....a little gem.

ate here yesterday afternoon after wanting to try it for a while. stunning food from start to finish. crispy fried squid has incredibly light batter, the ribs melt in your mouth and the satay sauce could be eaten by the bowl full!! however, the absolute star was the Thai green curry with monkfish tails- one of the best dishes I have ever eaten

Found this noodle bar after looking on trip advisor, we loved it minutes from drake circus, we had sweet and sour noodles, on recommendation from the manager, we had bubble tea I had strawberry with blueberry bubbles, my daughter had strawberry with passion fruit bubbles, oh my god they tasted amazing.

Every time I order take away from mr wok they forget something in my order. Don’t get me wrong, food is okay...amazing pad Thai and good prices! It’s just that every time I have ordered a take away there is something missing. The staff don’t really seem to care either, so customer service not the best. Maybe ordering from just eat isn’t the best idea?

It’s not a fancy restaurant but it’s a good place to have fast food but good quality. The problem is the service, the waiter was very rude, because of her I would not recommend this place.

We had Mr Wok takeaway for the first time last night after wanting it for a long time.we were not disappointed and will be regulars from now on. The food was fresh and fragrant. We ordered Chrispy chilli beef, two special fried rice boxes and Thai green curry pot, which also came with steamed rice which I didn’t realise, well there was plenty left for the two of us for lunch too. Great value for money and extremely tasty food.

This place has really blown up in last few months and everyone seems to be on about it. Mr wok is extremely affordable for the quantity and quality of food they are serving. Most mains dishes are £6 and starters £3-4 with a few specials £7-8 it’s a real bargain and gives you a real taste of Thai

My partner and I regularly order various dishes on a frequent occasion. The food never fails to impress, we absolutely LOVE it! However its' gaining popularity has meant the waiting periods at certain times of the day are very unreasonable. We have waited nearly two hours for a delivery before. Again, the food itself is incredible, it's just a shame they have let themselves down a bit with the customer service side of things.

Restaurant side is what I am reviewing not the takeaway. Honestly it’s freshly cooked food, genuinely priced and service with a smile and desire to please. No wonder the students love it... everyone will love though! Fresh fish platters and buckets are amazing. The Bubble Waffles send the kids into space with excitement and are such great fun! Go see for yourselfs... fab fab fab

My housemates and I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for somewhere that would deliver... and we were amazed! I'm a huge noodle lover and this place just made my love of noodles even bigger. Generous portion sizes, cheap, tasty, fresh and always delicious.

I have been ordering from Mr Wok for several months from JustEat. The food is always delicious & the service fantastic. There have been a few times where my order has been delivered within 30 minutes of ordering. There has been a couple of occasions where something I’ve ordered has been unavailable & the staff & Mr Wok has always called me to apologise & offer me an alternative. Definitely one of my favourite takeaways/restaurants in Plymouth.

Went for lunch and ordered chow mein and some other rice dishes . But as I looked at the drinks menu on the side I was looking at smoothie and asked if I could have one but they didn't do it then one as a bit disappointed as I didn't know what to drink after that but luckily there was some Apple juice other than that it was very good food . Just a bit disappointed about the drink variety .

Stopped for diner before taking our ferry to France. Delicious fresh tasty healthy food. Very kind smiley polite helpful staff. Nice relaxing setting. Will definitely return! Most recommended.

Visited with a friend during a trip to Plymouth, it was a Friday night so we were not surprised to be informed there will be a wait of up to 45 minutes for our food. We accepted this and ordered anyway.

I went with 2 other friends and we were not expecting much to be honest. The place is small, but once you taste the food you'll want to come back for sure!! The food is freshly-made and so delicious!! The staff is really nice and helpful and even after receiving the food one member of the staff came to check if everything was okay and if we were enjoying the food, which we so were!!! They also have VEGAN options!! I Recommend it 100%

I shouldn’t get too excited about any place just because it has high ratings here; that so often leads to disappointment. This place is good, for what it is, producing freshly cooked nice tasting food. It is exceptional value, and that is a big factor in the inflated reviews. However, is absolutely not amazing, and cannot compare to a truly excellent restaurant, but another case of ‘good for Plymouth’ raising expectations.

I have regularly visited the restaurant and must say the food never fails to be delicious and of the best quality.My service experience has always been quick and easy thanks to the Thai waitress which is always smiling and taking care of her customers.This combines for an all around outstanding experience.Everyone should know about this place.

The food was amazing, tasty, warm and fast. However, I would not want to return solely due to the rude, hostile and abrupt service. The girl at the till made the order very difficult and when ordering a drink she claimed ‘you’ll just have to wait because we are busy’. Tap water was also not an option as there is ‘only 1 glass’ in the whole restaurant. She was impatient and seemed extremely bored/annoyed throughout and when giving us our food, slammed the cutlery and plates down in a huff. As a waitress myself in a local restaurant, I was embarrassed to receive such treatment.

We went to this restaurant for the first time this week and was so impressed with the food and service we have been back two more times in three days. We have tried a different dish each time and have not been disappointed. The food is excellent and whenever we are in Plymouth this restaurant will be our first place to come and eat at. We love it.

I love this place. The staff are so friendly and helpful and there are a wide range of fish dishes on offer. The daily specials are great value and the starters are delicious. I recommend the sticky ribs and sweet corn fritters. (Nice size portion of hungry!) The range of fish on the menu is refreshing. The crab fried rice was packed with flavour and the Thai green curry with monkfish tails was incredible. Definitely my new favourite place to eat. For a fun treat the bubble tea is worth a go and the smoothies are lovely too.
