Very disappointed with my second visit to Mr man's. Constantly asked if we are ready to order. Starters were given out without correct explanation meaning someone ate someone else's starter so had to wait for another one to be prepared. My ribs starter wasn't even ribs, it was battered chunks of grisly meat. They missed a main meal, which would have been remedied sooner if they came to check. When it arrived the only apology was a joke that they didn't want to serve it raw. Value for money was terrible, i will not be back.

Love Mr Man's. The food is delicious and the team are very welcoming.

Combinado con una encantadora bienvenida de vuelta y servido por la gracia y los modales atentos, educados y genuinos, no podría ser mejor. Esperamos con ansias el año nuevo chino en un par de semanas. Eso para mí es uno de los años más destacados. Maravillosa comida, ambiente, fuegos artificiales y bailes del León, todo hecho con gran dolor.

Fuimos hoy para una celebración de cumpleaños. Las primeras impresiones fueron que la habitación estaba bien, pero muy, muy frío. Algunos clientes se sentaban con abrigos o bufandas mientras comían. Era un menú buffet y era muy caro por lo que era (£ 22 . 50 por cabeza). Había cosas notables que faltaban y que uno esperaría en un buffet chino. Sin arroz sin mariscos, sin patatas fritas, sin algas, sin carne crujiente, sin pato. La comida que estaba allí era tibia y tenía un sabor medio. Ciertamente no vale la pena el dinero. El servicio fue lento y no se dio información sobre dónde estaban los cubiertos o cuándo obtenemos nuestra comida. Tomó casi 20 minutos para tomar nuestro pedido de bebidas, y no estaba ocupado en absoluto. Nadie parecía preocupado. La señora que se despidió parecía encantadora, pero eso fue todo. Este restaurante ha estado allí durante décadas, así que tal vez la complacencia se ha arraigado. Muchos de nuestros miembros nunca habían estado antes. No creo que volvamos a ir. Es una pena porque habíamos oído cosas buenas.

Visitado un sábado a la hora del almuerzo. No había ambiente en el restaurante, ni música, y solo unos pocos clientes más. La comida era lamentablemente de muy mala calidad, e increíblemente caro para el estándar. La carne se servía en salsas no descriptivas, los fideos eran tibios y nos quedamos esperando tanto tiempo por nuestra cuenta, que tuvimos que ir al escritorio a pagar. Nunca más.

We absolutely love this place and have been dining here for 27 years. Our first date night was here and we return at least once every few months with our children and extended family. It’s a great place for a family celebration dinner as the kitchen can cater for large numbers. My husbands 21st birthday dinner and 40th birthday dinner and celebrations were held here. The food is consistently of high standard with great quality meat and shellfish with a varied and interesting menu. Always hot and freshly made. Capital spare ribs and shredded chicken with lettuce leaves and seaweed are our favourite appetisers. Our children (now 12 and 19) always say “Mr Man’s” !! when we say where do you wanna’ eat ? The staff are so welcoming and pleased to see us and booking isn’t always necessary (but definitely advisable for 4 or more). Thank you Mr Man’s for being consistently a memorable and throughly enjoyable evening out !

I tried to reserve a table today for 19:30. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very rude and completely put me off reserving a table for today or for any future occasions.

Disappointed with the food, very anglicised. Service was okay. I like the layout of the restaurant. I would expect authentic Cantonese food in a decent restaurant.

Sunday Buffet has a great choice of dishes. Normal menu as well, including Vegan options.

We went to Mr mans in nottingham for a double birthday celebration,the place is getting tired and could do with a refurb .the car park was a good size .the food was of good standard but rice was slightly bland to be fair .I think it is over priced for what it is but it is a restaurant !! Wasn't too happy as they do not do a child's menu which is very strange ,also be aware that they automatically charge a 10:% service charge on top of your bill which I find shocking as its not great .it expensive for what it is ...we will not be going here again:!!!!

Food was delicious, it was a busy evening so the service was understandably slow Disabled toilets are kept locked, disabled people shouldn’t have to ask for somebody to unlock the toilet constantly, this was ridiculous and I felt like a child asking for permission each time. I asked if it could be kept unlocked and they said no. Definitely won’t be returning

I went for a family meal and we are hindus and therefore cannot eat beef. We ordered a chicken sizzler and they bought out a beef one, which we all ate and didn't find out until the bill came. The waiter tried to gaslight us into thinking thats what we ordered and we said the word "beef" sizzler but as hindus and It being against our religion we would never utter such a word. We did not get an apology nor did they take it off the bill until I had to ask, he looked me dead in the eye and said unfortunately you will have to pay for it. He took it off and I took the service charge off of course!!! be very mindful and always confirm your order and triple check allergies and any intolerance with them please. Overall the guy with the face mask was very nice, everyone else had a dull personality which is okay, but working is hospitality no one wants to be around that type of energy, do better.

Monday lunchtime set menu. Food was nice but only four customers so no atmosphere. Most staff were wearing face masks which we found off putting

Visited mid Sept 24 the buffet choice was not as good as our group had expected. Can’t fault the service and the atmosphere.

An authentic Chinese restaurant with 35 years of experience. Really friendly staff m, make you feel at home. The portion of the dishes are really good and just the right amount so no waste. Authentic Chinese food without adding too much sweetness. All in good savoury, Unami and freshness taste. Very clean restaurant. Lots of parking.

I took my mum here for her birthday and it was a really nice place to eat. We went at 12 and had drinks and chow mein. The staff were all friendly and the restaurant was well kept. The food was on the expensive side but it was nice for a special occasion. There are a few steps to get to the tables, so this may be worth keeping in mind if you have any accessability needs.

Good place for a gathering ... food was good, can be a bit tight sitting depending on which corner you sit in ... overall spacious though !

This restaurant is in a nice setting next to Wollaston park, which is well worth a visit. Nice restaurant and food was nice but oh dear sone of the staff need to learn how to smile. You feel like you are an inconvenience to them. They look like they have found a £1 and lost a £10! They need to learn how to smile.

Great food but on the expensive side

Not been here for a few years but shouldn't have worried, great food, great service and great staff. Certainly the best Chinese Restaurant I know of in the area.

Went here with family to celebrate my wife's birthday. Had a set menu for 6. Starters & duck courses were very good. Main courses i found a bit disappointing. Service was quick & friendly. I thought it was expensive, but for the "best chinese in Nottingham" maybe it was to be expected.

My family used this place 20+ years ago, it was regarded as one of the best in Nottingham, sadly it's really gone down hill, the food is just like takeaway Chinese but sold at premium prices. My guess is it's changed hands at some point 💔

We have been many many times as a couple and always have set menu S2! This time we came as a 4 and had the same menu! We were booked in at 6:30 on Sunday 25th! We were served by a number of staff but the initial server was really grumpy! The mixed starter was double the amount you’d get as a couple, for 4 ( as expected) The Duck consisted of exactly the same amount for 4 as we got for 2! There really wasn’t enough hoisin sauce ( 1 container) we requested more ( we were charged extra for this which was unexpected) The rice arrived ( once again a serving for 4) the other dishes appeared the same size as we’d had before as a couple!!! In other words, you are paying for 2 extra guests BUT not receiving the additional portion sizes you’d expect?! We will return as we have been coming for 35 years! We feel rather let down on this occasion

Please avoid at all costs. Horrible undercurrent of senior staff bossing junior staff about. We gave our drinks waiter a tip as he was very pleasant and actually smiled. This was visibly taken off him when we left. Try the Mandarin in Nottingham a much better experience. Food watery, service and atmosphere appalling!! Would give it zero if I could…. Chinese canteen food at very best! Read the reviews before visiting this place…..

Please avoid this place at all costs. Food watery, atmosphere non existent and the staff were very patronising. I was waiting for Jeremy Beadle to appear the waiter was that crap!

Used to be regular many years ago but was recently at Sunday buffet and was disappointed, few staff even though they tried there best ,empty food trays not being refreshed often enough, cheap and cheerful does not agree with this high end restaurant, saying that my heart will always be at mr manns

Went to have a meal on my birthday in June 2024 with my daughter, very disappointed with the food. 2 set menu was served with egg fried rice that was served in one bowl to share. No flavours or taste beef looked rubbery on the plate which we never touched. First time I’ve paid money in a restaurant after taking one spoonful . Staff were so miserable kept starring at us throughout. One lady came after a while when she saw us not eating asking how the food was. I told her the food was not what I expected based with a friend recommendation. Paid my bill and left the place 😞☹️

Recent visit for birthday event, thought the interior looked tired. The reception felt like walking in to an office with a desk covered in paperwork, no atmosphere and the bar not open. The staff were really great and the food came out quickly. The prices seem to have gone up considerably and doesn't reflect in the quality of the food. Wouldn't go back.

It's always great eating here. If you have an occasion you'd better book ahead as they can get very busy. I think I'm sure a visit soon🤔👀😋

Friday 17th May table for 9 never looked @ the menu took the first set meal option, just feed us, food was good & plentiful, enjoyable night, everyone left happy, total bill with drinks £354.30

Good food, would like to say great, except few dishes were off the mark, i.e. prawn toast lack-lustre and more toast than prawn, rice portions were small yet noodle portions were huge!! Decor definately needs updating, sad seeing cheap napkin serviettes, what happened to the classy Mr. Mans? Place seemes as run down as the staffs faces, only time anyone smiled is when got tip at the end..

This place serves chinese food. The portions were surprisingly small and was average in taste. We were a group of 10 and ordered 10 portions of rice. Rather than served with individually bowl-portioned rice, was given 2 half filled large bowls. After dishing out to everyone, we only got 3/4 small bowl each. When we asked for more rice, we had to pay more. This is ridiculously expensive at £3.80 per bowl of boiled rice. Service was slow. The chinese male waiters especially were particularly rude. We asked for a photo politely, he replied “i’m a waiter, not a photographer”. He reluctantly took an unnecessary 34 similar pictures of us. I would rather them telling me they are sorry for not being able to help with a simple photo than showing us the attitude. Doesn’t project a good image for the restaurant. Hostile. Don’t think will return again. Can think of some other better options elsewhere in Nottingham with better food, service and atmosphere. Could have been so much better. What a shame.

Party of 7 for a Sunday lunchtime buffet, efficient service and gorgeous fresh, hot food. Excellent choice of dishes for starters, mains and dessert. Will definitely return.

Stunning place with brilliant food. And there is a whole separate gluten free menu which is ace and a great wine list! It's expensive but it's a good treat!

Sunday buffet was cold and not much choice....dated decor

The one in the city center is excellent and absolutely authentic. The one in Wollaton is your average chinese english restaurant. But þe city center place really is the dog' b.... Try the xialong bao ( pork dumplings with stock inside the dumping )

Hi the only thing that is restaurant down was the state of the gents toilets stank of damp and dirty doors One of the walls had an onerous damp problem In wich looked uninviting and un hygienic Expensive restaurant you would expect better

Beyond disappointed! Staff are sullen and place has a dreadful atmosphere. Had the set menu and soup was a congealed mess, the rest of the food was expensive, bland and tasteless. And I’m sorry, but £4.50 for a small bottle of beer is just daylight robbery. Also, as others have said once you finish eating your main meal, they rip the tablecloth off and leave you with a clear cheap plastic covering. Then ask if you want to desert, which owing to this I declined when usually I would have had both dessert and coffee. Not one of the group we went with enjoyed it and we all said we would not return….if you are thinking of coming here, think again there are so many nicer places than here!

Other priced and poor quality food. I been here a few times with my partner and we get the same food and spend £60 max between us. Went there today and spent £104. Bbq sauce taste more like a “burnt” taste rather than a Bbq. There was hair in my food. Made me feel a little suspicious when my food came out 5 mins after ordering it.The toilets are horrible smelt horrible and had poo stains inside. Lemonade was flat. The staff look miserable but talking to them seemed really nice and polite.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand Chinese food and what they gonna be like. They are always patient to explain to you. 5/5 for value. Averagely 25-30 per person will make you really full. The portion of the dishes are really good. 5/5 for taste. Really authentic Chinese food without adding too much sweetness. All in good savoury, Unami and freshness taste. They got true “Wok Chi”. 5/5 for environment. You got parking there and dining in a mansion like building. Clean and we don’t see greasy floor here, which is uncommon for Chinese restaurants because of their ways of cooking.

Very over priced and rushed Went for evening meal and were seated as soon as we entered. 1 of our party went to the loo on the way to the table which seemed to agitate staff who seemed annoyed they had not taken a menu at this point. We were asked for drinks and gave the order as we sat. We were then asked 4 times in the space of approximately 10 mins if we were ready to order (we hadn't even received a drink at this point and were still looking at the extensive menu). Food arrived promptly and was OK (nothing spectacular - can safely say I've had better quality from local takeaways). Before we had finished our 1st course, several staff were watching our table and were extremely quick to remove plates, etc, before issuing the next course (the general theme of the evening). As we were finishing our last course we were asked twice if we were done, when we did say we had finished, 3 staff decended on our table and took plates and cutlery, checked our drinks (physically picked them up to look what we had left) and whipped the table cloth away, before being asked twice more if we wanted desert. To top it all off, we were told that if we wanted to keep the disposable plastic chopsticks that came with our meal, these would be at an additional cost. Not the service or quality I'd expect for £50+ per person for 2 courses and would not recommend or return.

I've been eating at Mr Man's for over thirty five years. Not been for a while, was saddened to see it in decline, it was a great fine dining experience but now no better than my local takeaway so sad.

We came to this restaurant as a family of 10, a mix of adults and young people, for my wife's birthday celebration. The staff were very attentive, friendly and served us well. The food was plentiful, cooked well and delicious. As it was a busy Saturday night we had been previously advised that our table would be required after 2 hours. So that came as no surprise. The cost was reasonable in my opinion for the surroundings, food choice and quality. Yes, the table covering was paper, the wipes were packeted and cold but I don't see those as negative issues. A very enjoyable experience and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Incredibly sad to see our favourite restaurant decline in such a way. Been coming here for nearly 30 years. The reason being, it stood out. But whilst the prices have increased the lovely white table cloths have been replaced with paper. The dish warmers no longer in use. The spoons for the rice no more. The hot towels after starter replaced with nasty hand wipes. The lazy Susan only on certain tables. The portion size’s massively reduced. The decor… the same as 30 years ago.. untouched. Whether it’s complacency, because it it still busy, or a genuine need to cut corners, I don’t know, but sad is all I can say. Not entirely sure we will venture into the 4th decade there.

Very busy early. Clearly a popular Nottingham eaterie with a lively atmosphere. Service was good from the outset and staff were friendly and attentive. Booking slots are for two hours which for us was just about right for us to enjoy our meal at our pace. The food was delicious but no better than anything else that l have had elsewhere. Our highlights were the aromatic hdlf duck, the sweet and sour pork ( hong kong/ cantonese) style and the king prawns with cashews. The egg fried rice and special fried rice wasn't the best I have had..a bit bland . Prawn crackers weren't supplied as a free entrée as I would've expected(*) but the mixed houvres d'ouvres were very nice but the quantity of the serving could've been better. The main downside to think establishment is it's pricing. It's really, really expensive. Three adults way in excess of £120!! This restaurant is charging more than Chinatown (Soho) prices where the food is generally of better quality and more authentic. To summarise... A nice place to eat but you'll have to be prepared to spend a lot of money for the experience so because of this we can't afford to give it better than 7/10. Sorry 😞

What has happened to your restaurant Mr Man?? Not as good as it was. Service was rushed, confusing and rude. Not in attitude but with reaching over people to serve and then clear, and despite being empty seats where they could clear away from, they chose to clear away all the dirty plates next to me, while I was trying to open cards and gifts. Proceeding to stack dirty plates and drop dirty cutlery on gifts and cards. Were in such a hurry to dispose of the table cloth, we had to be quick to collect any belongings. Left bewildered about what was happening! Now on the hunt to find a new favourite restaurant to celebrate special occasions at.

Food was great. Did the Sunday buffet, veggie options were a little limited but what was there was delicious (I had three plates of curried veggies and Singapore noodles). The service was great and the plates were exchanged very quickly, just a little noisy and chaotic on big round tables but that's the nature of big group activities I suppose. Also very accommodating to children

We stumbled upon this place after having a spa day in Nottingham! From start to finish, the customer service was amazing! It’s a proper authentic Chinese restaurant with the most amazing food and dishes. The crispy duck, chilli crispy beef and chicken fried rice was my fave. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

I went to Mr. MANS to celebrate my birthday. The serene atmosphere of the surroundings, with the tranquil sound of the small waterfall and birds singing in the front garden, brought a sense of peace. The presence of two stone Chinese lion statues added to the welcoming ambiance. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the owner. The menu was simple and easily readable, with prices listed next to the dishes. Our ordered dishes were promptly served. For appetizers, we enjoyed mussels and wonton soup. The mussels were exceptionally large and fresh, while the wonton soup was flavorful, containing about 4-5 wontons. Additionally, we ordered the hot and spicy chicken, Teochew rice, and Szechuan hot fish. The Szechuan hot fish is my favorite, but it's important to note that the dish can be quite spicy due to the chilies. It might be challenging for those with a lower tolerance for spice. Overall, I look forward to returning again.

Super location at the periphery of Wollaton Park. Have to book in advance, very popular for good reason. Excellent food, atmosphere and service.

The food was okay however for the buffet they charge £6.50 for 'under 2s' so I had to pay £6.50 for my 1 year old daughter who ate probably 1 fork full of noodles and 1 grape and a tiny bit of apple. They didn't show us a menu of prices before.
