Great service and quality food. Worth a visit. Beer garden is also really nice.

Excellent menu of a wide variety of homemade dishes that were cooked, served and good value for money. We had chicken curry, lamb chops, sea bass, crepes suzette and banana split. The background music and memorabilia were just right. A really enjoyable meal with great photo opportunities - a family of 5. Maybe consider changing the name. Thank you

Nice place to have a good meal, it's a bit dated but worth a visit

The four of us from Germany came across this restaurant by chance near our bed and breakfast accommodation. We were so impressed by the food, but also by the ambience and the warm hospitality that we ate dinner there three days in a row. We were thrilled by a very good pizza, excellent fish dishes and a great pork steak. Prices overall were slightly lower than in the center of Torquay. The inn contains a variety of pictures and statues from the film industry. I had never seen anything like that before. The four of us can only recommend the restaurant to everyone. Many thanks to the owner and the friendly staff.

Very good interior and atmosphere, just need little bit face-lift. Food is good and tasty just maybe little bit small portions, but enough for who like just eat and not overeat.

Lovely tasty food, great service and a quirky decor!

The food is great but the place is worth a visit for the decor alone! Crammed full of movie references and even star likenesses that will be sure to spark conversation! Food is a unique mix of grill,fish and pizza which should please most people. Having enjoyed one of each type of food on our table we can confirm the quality is good throughout. Highly recommended.

Very lucky to have this restaurant and beer garden on our doorstep. Great food and very friendly service. Music was a lot more interesting than in most places. The only downside for me was the slightly excessive Americana, but that is personal taste of course.

Stumbled on by chance to have a drink in the lovely beer garden, ended up eating there! Just wow 🤩 We both had the grilled meat skewers , chicken and lamb with chips, rice and salad. Meat succulent, chips and salad spot on and the rice, just amazing… never had rice taste so good. My new favourite place, looking forward to trying more things off the menu. 🌟 Great decor! It was quiet but it was early and to be honest suited us stumblers!

Average food at an above average prices.

A lovely restaurant we just went as a last minute whim. The decoy was amazing and the staff very efficient and friendly, this all led a well cooked and presented meal. We could not fault the place and would recommend anyone to try it.

We got a place without any problems. The service was excellent. Unfortunately it was so drafty that we were really cold. That was unpleasant, but the friendly waitresses couldn't have changed that. The ambience in the old Hollywood style was something different and special. There was nothing to complain about about the food.

We stumbled across this place as we were walking back to our hotel, and booked a table, we were pleasantly surprised at the selection and then the quality of the food, the grilled mains were well seasoned and well cooked, the service was perfect, the staff were attentive especially to our 4 year old daughter, the deco is not to my usual liking but very fun with lots of old movie memorabilia. A great little place, definitely worth eating out there.

Best steak I’ve had in a long time. Perfectly cooked. They phoned me to check how I wanted it cooked as I forgot to add it in the notes. Great service. Still delivered on time! I agree with the other customer review that it would be good to update your “Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings” to indicate that they are covered in breadcrumbs because I was surprised by this the first time too. Some BBQ wings would be a nice future addition to your menu as the wings were a bit too spicy! Keep up the good work! 🙂

Like many others, found this down the road from our hotel, really recommend. It was very quiet (Tuesday evening) but staff & food were great, decor is great fun, & music pleasant but not invasive for conversation! We have driven past many times on other trips & wondered about it-give it a try, it’s worth it.

They clicked the had been delivered option before it actually was. According to my partner his burger was amazing 😍. I ordered the chicken wings as I have strange dietary requirements . No where in the description does it say they are covered in bread crumbs/batter. I unfortunately can't risk eating them because of a gluten allergy, I assumed when the description said chicken wing it would just be an uncoated chicken wing.

Awesome steak, perfectly cooked. Quick delivery too. Would prefer the peppercorn sauce to come in a separate pot but no big deal. I enjoyed it. Will be ordering again!

Thanks, that was lovely. May I suggest the calamari is not packaged with the salad next time ? (The calamari was stone cold and needed reheating). But that was a superb meal.

Very nice staff.. I went there on a week day so it was me and one other table of people & it’s a big place.

Food was okay but not great, staff were friendly but not very attentive, especially given we were the only table for early dinner, chips and onion rings cooked from frozen. Underwhelming but great decor.

A parking is amazing. The service and the staff are good. The only issue wabout 7 or 8 chips on the play. The food wasn't enough to decide that they were charging other than that. Tasted quite nice but nothing you can't get from kebab house but lovely place to have a meal

Wow!! We tried this place on the off chance and definitely weren't disappointed. Steaks were succulent, starters plentiful and the prices for all were just right. Would definitely come back!!

Good was amazing Service was super attentive and polite Prices were very reasonable. Decor is unexpected but quirky. They went the extra mile for us and put out some birthday banners. Lovely place with exceptional food. Spring rolls, Mixed grill, gammon and banana split were all perfect.

Poor quality food. Chips were made from black potatoes, and the onion rings were soggy. Gristly meat and soggy bread. Worst kebab meal that we've had in 7 1/2 years in Torquay.

Stunning food in a lovely family run setting. Couldn't fault it. Would definately travel a distance to eat there.... Staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Geweldig sfeervol restaurant in jaren 50/60 stijl met allemaal foto's en beelden van zangers en filmsterren uit die tijd. Heerlijk gegeten. De restauranthouder en zijn vrouw en personeel zijn zeer vriendelijk en gastvrij. We hebben daar zelfs 2 x geten heerlijk gegeten en genoten vd sfeer vh restaurant.

Sadly very underwhelmed during the visit. Food was edible, but not great. Staff even admitted the chips were frozen and the steak was from a supermarket! Peppercorn sauce was bland and watery. The wine was nice. Overall, not good value for money in our opinion.

Simply the best meal we had in our holiday inTorqauy area. Fantastic service and food was 1st class. Highly recommend.

First time visiting here. Wow. Popped in on the off chance of getting a table and we were sat down straight away. My wife and I both had the steak diane . We both changed the peas for a bit of side salad which was no problem at all. I've got to say it was one of the best steak meals I've had anywhere. (Trust me I've eaten a lot of steak meals.) 5 stars all round. Will definitely return when we are back around this area.

A large Menu with very good food, excellent and friendly service, and a very interesting interior, especially if you are a film buff.

Stopped nearby yo stay, this restaurant was recommended, although a bit pricy we had the most terrific food here. Would definitely come back to Mr cooks. The curry I had was delicious. And open late all week.

Had 3 meals altogether. Pizza for the kids, (half and half which they catered for). I had the t-bone steak which was lovely. However my wife oredered the sirloin steak. The steak was previously frozen which you could easily tell once it came out. The steak was ordered medium rare, but because it had been previously frozen it was grey once cut into and dry. When your paying £25 for a steak you would at least expect it to be fresh not frozen. Not much of the steak was eaten unfortunately. Shame really because the staff were second to non and absolutely brilliant. As for the place itself.....absolutely stunning. Just such a shame about the expensive frozen steak which really let it down. Id probably go back but wouldn't order steak again.

Lovely service from the staff who do a great job. Food was OK, nothing outstanding. Don't get me wrong there was nothing inherently wrong with it, but it was just ok.

Mr Cook was just down the road from where we were staying. It doesn't look particularly special from the outside, but inside it's absolutely wonderful especially if you're of a certain age. Famous film posters and photographs, film memorabilia, and musical instruments on the walls and ceilings. The background music is of that age that goes with the surroundings, and creates a wonderful atmosphere/ambience in which to eat your meal. There is a very good variety of well presented, excellent food and the staff are all excellent at their job. We found the service was excellent, and we went four times in the seven days we were in the area. The prices were very reasonable.

We order delivery's very often. the food is always red hot, need to wait 5 minutes to cool down which is brilliant. Always get all my order. Delivery drivers always so lovely and friendly. Food is always on point. Never had an issue. All food we've tried as been so nice so pretty hard to recommend one.

Paid £26 for a piece of steak and chips and at least a 1/3 of it was fat and gristle. Ended up giving it to the dog

Don't be put off by the odd negative reviews by some of the keyboard warriors on here. This place is fantastic... Nothing wrong with the decor and the staff are lovely. Prices are way cheaper than similar places in town. Fantastic food. Great decor. And excellent value for money. Update 9/4/23 Just came back again... Even better than before. Warm friendly staff and great atmosphere. Food is amazing. If you love meat... Go for the mix grill.. you won't be disappointed.

We go here as a family once a month from Exeter. They have a very friendly family atmosphere. The food is the best you can find in Devon. They have a spacious garden, it is safe for kids to go. Give them a try which they well deserve.
