Mr Cod in Reading

DO NOT EAT HERE. It is the worst service I have ever received in my life. We waited 40 minutes for our food and we realized they didn’t even had prepared it. They forced us to get something we didn’t order. Honestly, please don’t waste your time nor your money.

As a muslim i definitely look for a halal and obviously this branch is halal. I ordered fish and chips and fish burger. I like that it is not oily. Great experience.

Wrong food order arrived. Only received a partial refund even though we couldn’t eat the food that was delivered because of the sauce that had been used. When I asked why I had to pay for food that hadn’t been eaten no reply received.

Chicken was pink, only thing good was the burger but I’m even questioning that.

I pay a delivery fee and yet had to go outside and collect my order. I could have been ready for bed! my porch light was on and there is no reason why I should receive a phone call instead of a knock on the door! I then didn't have the code as was not expecting to travel and had to come back inside and get it. as I said, I paid for delivery!

I ordered two wraps and specifically asked for them to be plain. I got home and both had mayo and lettuce in them. If you specialise orders make sure that they are actually completed properly!

I haven't tried the other menu items, but I can trust the basic Daegu fish and chips. There is so much variation between Mr Cod's branches that it almost feels like it's a completely different restaurant, but I've been eating at this branch for over ten years and it's still very delicious. The moist, non-greasy fish and the crispy, not-thick batter are perfect. This is also recognized by local friends who are serious about food.

it is not a byriani, it's basically peri chicken and rice and didn't come with curry as described. was okay though, periperi chicken and chips were good.

There were NO tissues, cutlery or dips included. Order 3 meals and came without any drinks. Would avoid this place.

Chill atmosphere Polite staff One of the few places open until late (1pm) even on a Sunday! And ofc can't be a brilliant chippy without. Great chips 👍👍

Specially for Asians as we know what Biryani is and how Biryani is But I bought Boryani from them trust me it’s just A boil Yellow rice with some Garnish of Green Onion and with Fried chicken in it just wasting money. And price is 5.99£ I swear I bought From Biryani boys it’s just 3.50£ and it’s really delicious

Using just eat as delivery service is disgusting saying delivered order when they’ve not done so , contacting store to complain is no help no accountability.

The quarter pounder burger was terrible. The bread was soggy, the beef was undercooked, and it had no flavor. The kebab roll was genuinely the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten. There wasn't wasn't even doner meat—just half a beef patty with a dab of mayo and one piece of shredded lettuce.

Ive had mr cod a few times and The fish was soggy not crispty not happy

I recently ordered 20 protions of Fish and Chips for a Wine Tasting @rdgbiscuitfactory on behalf of Thames Valley Wine School. The order arrived when it was meant to and everyone raved about the food, with everyone asking where it came from. Highly reccomend.

They will always get the order wrong and forget an item especially in a delivery but happens in collection too. If you call to say an item is missing they will shout at you on the phone. Incredibly unhelpful and extremely rude. Their chips are always stale no matter what amd tatse like cardboard. The only saving grace is its cheap but their prices keep going up so no point in spending any money at this place.

Ordering on line is based on trust. This Mr. Cod does not have. There is always an item missing from the order. First time I thought it was an honest mistake. Second time, a mistake. Now, third time, I know it is a policy. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me three times: fool to buy from Mr. Cod. 🤧

I loved that fresh Fish and Chips with chicken wings side.

They don't even give fresh food. You pay for food and they give you 2/3 times fried chips that are so dry and not tasty.

I brought these from Mr Cod Whitley street branch 20 spicy wings and a cod fish. When I opened the box the spicy wing were so old and stale cooked in old black oil.I can’t believe how anyone can serve these old spicy wing’s. Rock hard even my dog looked at them and walked away.Over priced money grabbers.

Really blown away by the food and service in this store. A* throughout! We ordered 3 Chicken Tikka tower burgers, which were simply mouth-watering delicious.. it was really good, spicy, well flavoured, not over powering or just chilli. Very very good. My daughter had the haddock and chips, which was also delicious, the fish was very fresh, and soft. The chips were great, soft and I could actually taste the potato! Portion size I would say was large, we came home with a left over box of chips. Overall our experience was very good, and I will be recommending to friends and family. We will also be back very soon!

The chips were lovely - thank you. Half of my chicken burger was soggy and fell apart - I put that half in the bin. I ate the ‘dry’ half only.

I gave up on this chippy after witnessing them opening a huge cardboard box labelled “PALM OIL”, peeling the plastic off a huge yellow-orange luminous cuboid of grease so big the worker could barely carry it, and awkwardly shoving it into the fryer basket. The sight of it made me feel quite nauseous.🤢 Please use vegetable oil instead.

Chips are generally ok but often a poor dismissive service. Prices now very high you are better off going to Ephesus if you like kebabs or PFC which is better value. Really need to work on quality. Chips portion size now half of what it used to be. Feel they need improvement strongly enough to post this review.

I called the shop and they advised that the original driver didn’t turn up, so then it was designated to another driver. The driver that did deliver it was very apologetic. It was just eats mess up though. Not the restaurant. Food arrived chilled because of the delay. The chips were quite small for a large portion.

I ordered chicken wings & chips in Whitley wood branch. The wings were very hard and small. It seemed to have been fried a long time ago. All in all , it was a very poor meal

Food was very cold and batter wes very soggy, been sat for a while, will not be ordering from there again
