Mr Chan's Chinese Restaurant in Redbridge

Food was tasteless think the lemon chicken was frozen Birds Eye crispy chicken & lemon sauce was tasteless even the egg fried rice lacked any flavour. Add to that very sour waiting staff verging on rude & the owner barking out orders we definitely were made to feel like an inconvenience. Prices fair but that reflects the quality of food won't be visiting there again thats for sure!

have eaten chans chinese style food off and on over the years , most times satisfactory , BUT THE OTHER NIGHT 30-45 minutes (about 8 pm )after eating/sharing our 3 separate dishes i felt really , really thirsty/ parched , this went on every 20/30 mins till i hit the sack close to midnight , must of drank over 2 liters of liquids. Now i am thinking that may be my last time i go to chans ps its A CHINESE takeaway ONLY .

Worst Chinese I’ve ever experienced! We are regular customers of Ming Garden, Buckhurst Hill, however it was closed this week so had to find an alternative on Just Eat… what a big mistake that was! The whole meal was inedible, the curry tasted of flour, I have simply never seen ribs served the way these have - small bits of chopped up rib - they consisted either of lumps of fat / super chewy meat (how I imagine dog to taste like) … the crispy beef looked like it had been microwaved! We spent £35 on the worst meal ever! We are now ordering an Indian from the Coriander at 9pm! Will stick to what we know is good in future!! Please avoid!!!!!!!!

We put in a large order for new years and everything was delicious with great portion sizes. The duck, shrimp noodles and egg and chicken fried rice are highly commended, the satay chicken was tasty too! The best chinese I had all year

The delivery driver, i beleive his name is BABU, as he told me, was creepy and made me feel really uncomfortable. He was talking to me inappropriately, trying to look past me into my house at what I had. The food was awful, it was late, cold and tasteless, I wouldnt even feed this to my dog. What a serious disappointment

I was horrified when I got my delivery, the order was wrong, cold and disgusting, so I went down there to sort it out as they didnt answer the phone. The kitchen was horrifically dirty, noone was wearing a mask, I am sure I saw a mouse in the kitchen. Also to add insult to injury, there delivery driver who drives a white BMW, but now drives a Black Yaris (as he dropped a take away to my friend) made me feel uncomfortable, he was more interested in what I had in my home and car on the front. I wouldnt be suprised now if he attempted to rob me. They hire petty criminals and there food is shocking. STEER CLEARRRRR!!!!! There are so many chinese restaurants choose someone else

Had a meal from there in lockdown. Found it very good. Helpful and attentive man on the counter. Very quick service.

Drivers feel they can take their own tip without asking food dry and bland my dog enjoyed it was looking forward to some nice food sadly disappointed

Had the bbq ribs which werent bad and the duck - duck was tastelesss and rubbery - wasnt crispy at all - was under cooked in fact! Will not be going back!

Average Chinese takeaway. Always hot, even when you've walked home with it. I would like to see less plastic, where has the tin foil containers with the cardboard lids gone.... bring them back Mr Chan help the environment.

I write this comparing with what I get in my locals, this was a very greasy offering of poor quality and greasy, inedible mush. We will not be going back in a hurry even if it was free!

I went their yesterday evening and ordered a take away.This is my first time going their i ordered number 224 it is Special Seafood Ho Fun . It was nice and fresh and quality is a thumbs up.The food is not oilly and is lie home cooking . Great.Thanks.

Simply the worst food and experience of my life. Came down from Manchester for my cousins birthday she lives here and wanted Chinese. The food was not what we ordered, the duck was all fat and grissle, the food was completely saturated in oil. Ordered grilled prawns in garlic sauce to receive something which resembled soggy omelet and when called to complain was told this was the dish?!? Customer service was atrocious! Sent the food back to not even receive a call out of courtesy, had to call back and was abruptly told no refund. My cousin spent the night on the toilet after only a few mouthfuls. The whole of Woodford needs to know about this place.

I really think these guys need to try harder. They always seem rushed and confused with the order that you give them. Then the order in generally not exactly what your ordered and the food not really worth the money as you have Dynasty and the White Swan close by, same price, superior food.

Been our favourite for years for s takeaway. Usual order is Special Egg omelette, special Chow Mein, sweet sour chicken, chilli fried chicken and chips. I was told 45mins to an hour for delivery but was shocked when it arrived less than 20 mins. Don’t know who was cooking last night but apart from the chow Mein with slight flavour the other dishes were cooked fresh but seemed to be missing the main flavour. I did call and advise them and the lady apologied with no offer to replace or compensate but I wasn’t really after that but if this happens again I will personally return and get a refund. Such a shame and disappointed

Normally we use Dragon Palace Chingford but they are closed on a Monday - positive they turned up on time - no more positives - everything about this meal was bland from Singapore fried rice ( never tasted anything so disgusting in my life) pasty sweet and sour chicken balls which were far too big - crispy chilli chicken hardly any chicken just batter - noodles hmmm

I have ordered before from Mr Chans and it has been ok. This time it was disgusting, I left it all and put it in the bin. The chicken tasted of fish. Will not be ordering again.

Great little place, they do take orders over the phone which at lunch times does help speed things up when on a time budget, At lunch times they do a range of mains in the same box ,So if like me you like a curry and rice you will get a half rice and half curry and a great price

Don't expect any kind of customer service, a robotic, military style taking of your order is what you will get......

Regularmente nos oder comida para llevar desde aquí y creo que es cada vez mejor. La comida siempre es fresca y no grasa y también llega en un tiempo razonable.

Ordered a takeaway was told 30-40mins turned up after an hour of waiting and one phone call to the shop. Then we couldn't believe the look of the noodles they were shocking looked black dirty and greasy tasted awful one mouthful from the container was enough more then enough in fact straight in the bin order a chicken in garlic sauce from the "chefs special" it was awful far too much ginger in couldn't taste anything but a am over powering ginger taste chips looked like they had been reheated a few times and the chicken in the special rice didn't look like chicken and the pancake roll was soggy due to it covered in grease disgusting pointless ringing and complaining as I wouldn't want them to cook for me again not one dish we had was ok waste of money still Hungary looks like I will have to make a sandwich. AVOID unless you like greasy food and dirty old chip fat oil!!

I had a takeaway from here which was ok but nothing to get excited about... very average Chinese with re-heated dishes... not one I would rush back to or really want to use again.

There are loads of takeaways round this area but Mr Chan's has fast become a favourite. I usually order via the Just Eat app. It always says minimum 45 minutes. Food is usually here within half an hour. Always piping hot. Always fresh. Lovely chicken. Great soup. Huuuge pancake roll. Enough for two so we just order the one roll now. It's great food. Not had any issues at all.

Get a take away every month or so from Mr Chan's and must say its fantastic. None of that MSG nonsense, just clean Chinese.

Iv ordered from here previously and really enjoyed the food. This particular time however I was really disappointed, the food didn't taste fresh, all the dishes were rubbery and over done like they had just been reheated and for too long. The delivery time was also suspiciously quick, within 30 minutes...how could you cook all this food fresh and get it here in under 30 minutes. After placing my order I realised I made a mistake and called up straight away to change one of my items, they quibbled, hmmmmed and ahhhhrred about it like as if it was already made and ready to go when I had literally just ordered.

The meal was poor quality and was not fresh but microwaved, the Thai green curry with beef was the worst, very hot and over spiced, did not taste like Thai curry at all, the beef was rubbery. The house special curry was watery and tasteless. And the Spicy Chicken wings were stale. We phoned to complain and returned the food that was completely inedible, and was refunded the costs. This is the second time that I have ordered from Mr Chan's and I have not enjoyed neither experience, the previous owner use to cook amazing food but not any more. Would not recommend Sorry.

Food was nice and arrived quickly, within 30 minutes. Arrived nice and hot, tasted nice and fresh. The only thing I was abit disappointed with was the seasonal veg, it was only box Choy in a sauce, I expected more vegtables to be included like broccoli, carrots etc.

Good Chinese food, a lot better than most

The food quality is always really good from here and they always deliver on time. But tonight they went above and beyond when I accidentally ordered the food as collection when i needed delivery and their delivery driver came out after closing time to deliver the food to us. Would really recommend this restaurant as their food is amazing as is their takeaway service

The whole meal was disgusting. I always order from Mr Chans and never normally have a problem. The duck fried rice just had lumps of duck fat in it. The mixed h'or dourves were all cold and dry. The sweet and sour pork was really gristly. The whole meal got thrown in the bin.

their food is delicious and really fresh. We ordered some fried items and they were lovely and dry. No oil soaked paper bags and no horrible smell of leftover Chinese food. We have just move to Loughton, this is the second time we order from Mr Chan's and I think this is our new favorite!

Haven't use Mr Chans for a bit as the quality dropped. Tonight our food was fresh and full of flavour. Great news cause I couldn't find a Chinese take away that was as good

The only thing I enjoyed, was the prawn crackers!! Everything tasted of dirty oil and grease!! Very unhappy with the quality of the food. Will not be ordering again. And it is way too expensive for the quality they are serving.

No carrots in the crispy chilli beef and the cucumber for the aromatic duck was very dry like it had been cut for along time.

Just not my cuppa tea. Maybe someone else's but the food didn't taste good to me at all.

I order from here quite a few times, the food is always good and delivery is fast. I would say this is the best Delivery here in the area only thing is small amount of sweet and sour sauce, order extra!

Spring rolls are terrible. Tiny, tasteless, cold & with virtually no filling. I'd rather have one big, well filled spring roll. Chicken in the green pepper dish is too soft and wet. Sweet and sour Hong Kong chicken is nice though.

I ordered sea bass, and the sauce of sea bass was all over the carrier bag, whoever packed the sea bass in a container he did not pack the food properly obviously, and that's why the sauce came out from the container. My husband phoned the restaurant about the situation, and they offered only the sauce instead of the same whole sea bass freshly cooked again. When my husband asked them why cannot you do the same menu again, and then they explained that "the sea bass is an expensive fish that is why we cannot deliver you the fish again, we can only deliver the sauce of the fish" .....very cheap explanation. Definitely we are not ordering the food from them again .

Meal was half an hour late with no apology, but ordered on a Friday night for 1840 so maybe very busy. Very oily, chips, squid, pancake roll, special fried rice. Boiled rice nice and good portion sizes. Sweet and sour chicken very good and not too sweet.

Food never arrived. After 1.5h waiting for it, I called up and they said they rejected the order. Not what the app said!!

Order was late, rang up answered by somebody who couldn't understand & spoke very little English, then walked away from the phone & left it. When it did arrive I only accepted it as I'd already paid by card. The order was wrong we ended up with pork chow mein instead of chicken we only found this out when we were trying to chew fat & gristle. I would have rang up to complain but after the last phone call it would have been a futile attempt.

Always had a good meal from here but two Saturdays running the food has been stale and dry quite a long wait for delivery even though we've ordered fairly early evening, shame we have been disappointed.
