Very tasty soup and pleasant cafe

I had a great lunch here with my elderly parents. The staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly and we were served quickly. The menu had a wide range of options for all appetites and dietary requirements. Our meals were generously portioned, fresh and tasty. The coffee was really good and the cakes were delicious - the lemon meringue pie was amazing! There was a lively vibe at the cafe, with a wide range of ages. I loved the interior design too. Our waiter told us that it used to be a bank. We'll be back!

Delicious brunch menu ... glad we booked a table as very busy.

Experiencia muy extraña esta mañana. Estábamos sentados alrededor de la 1 pm y dimos nuestra orden, sopa y sándwich cada uno para mi pareja y yo. Alrededor de 20 minutos después, la camarera nos preguntó en un estado de pánico qué relleno de sándwich había solicitado, confirmé el relleno de pollo. 10 minutos después todavía no nos habían servido, así que le pregunté a una camarera, ella consultó con la cocina y dijo que nuestra comida era el siguiente para salir de la cocina y se disculpó. 5 minutos más tarde a la pareja en la mesa de al lado, que había llegado 20 minutos después que nosotros, se les sirvió su sopa y bocadillos. 40 minutos después de haber pedido, nuestra sopa y sándwich llegó. Mi sándwich era pequeño, teniendo en cuenta que era de £ 10. 50 . A mi compañero le sirvieron la sopa equivocada. La camarera se disculpó por el retraso ya que estaban ocupados. Después de que me quejé amablemente anularon uno de nuestros pedidos de sopa / sándwich y pedidos de bebidas, aunque esto nos pospondría volver, lo cual es una pena ya que vivimos en el lugar y hemos estado un par de veces antes.

Buen café y el personal, pero tenía los huevos Benedict y era muy acuoso. No habían secado los huevos escalfados, lo que significaba que el muffin se empapó mucho. La salsa tampoco estaba genial y uno de los huevos estaba exagerado.

Popped in for breakfast one Friday morning, really lovely food, Great atmosphere. Very much recommended.

My daughter and myself had a lovely lunch today in Moyra Janes .... delicious food, very well presented by attentive staff. Ticked all the boxes for us.

He estado usando este café por más años de los que recuerdo. Normalmente una buena experiencia, pero sin duda no hoy. Conocí a un amigo para almorzar. Reservamos una mesa para 12. 30 . La camarera vino a nosotros a la 1. 30 para decir que necesitaban la mesa de vuelta para las dos. Esto nunca ha pasado antes en las numerosas veces que he comido aquí. Sin embargo estaba ocupado en ese momento tan justo. A la 1. 35 pedimos té y pastel. La camarera nos recordó que la mesa era necesaria a las 2 en punto. Dijimos que lo sabíamos, pero todavía nos gustaría té y pastel. A la 1. 40 la camarera volvió para decir: “Este es un suave recordatorio de que la mesa es necesaria a las 2 en punto. ' A la 1. 45 ella puso el proyecto de ley sobre la mesa y dijo 'la mesa es necesaria a las 2 en punto' Justo después de la 1. 50 Ella se acercó para decir que las personas que habían reservado la mesa habían llegado y estaban esperando. Dije que terminaríamos el té y nos iríamos a las dos. Ya había varias mesas vacías en el restaurante y la pareja que supuestamente estaba esperando nuestra mesa ahora estaba sentada en otra mesa. Mi amigo y yo le preguntamos a la camarera por qué tanta prisa cuando las mesas estaban vacías. Luego habló muy alto sobre la legislación de restaurantes que solo permite a las personas una hora y media en una mesa. Era muy grosera así que decidimos irnos. Dejamos una propina en la mesa y caminamos hacia la puerta. La camarera corrió detrás de nosotros gritándonos que volviéramos a tomar la propina y 'seguir teniendo un día encantador' de una manera muy sarcástica. Toda esta experiencia arruinó nuestra tarde. No se mencionó cuando reservé la mesa que sería necesario después de una hora y media, pero ese no es el problema aquí. No necesitábamos recordatorios cada 5 minutos de que la mesa era necesaria y ciertamente no necesitábamos la respuesta muy grosera y sarcástica de la camarera al hacer una pregunta simple. Me temo que mis muchos, muchos años de apoyar a este restaurante con muchos amigos están a su fin si este tipo de servicio y actitud continúa.

Moyra Jane's is a Pollockshields institution, a consistently good place for brunch, a quick snack, longer lunch, or late afternoon treat. Can get busy at peak lunch hours.

Popped by today for a quick lunch before catching a train home. I told the girls I was in a hurry and, by the time I'd washed my hands, the soup was already on the table. Very friendly staff, fast service, delicious soup (good ratio quality-quantity).

Popped in to kill a spare hour. Staff were really friendly. Nice little space outside that isn't on the main road so a little quieter. Absolutely no complaints about the breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to come again.

Absolutely delicious haggis, neeps and tatties, and a wonderful key lime pie and chocolate & caramel cake. And the lattes were simply delightful!

I took my wife and son for lunch and the entire experience was excellent. The staff were caring, attentive, friendly and professional and the food was absolutely delicious. I had never been there before, but I will definitely be back and I would highly recommend this wonderful eatery.

Outrageous charge for a small pot of tea and two rounds of toast with butter and jam....£7.90! Restaurants and cafes in the area charge a max £6.00. Ridiculous wild overpricing. Will not return there.

Moyra Jane’s came highly recommended, so thought I would give it a try. The first time I visited here was last year on a lovely warm day when myself and my husband sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful lunch in the sunshine. We were so impressed by the quality of the food that we have returned on numerous occasions and have taken various members of my family, including my 94 year old mum who loves it just as much as us. We visited again today for lunch with our niece and the food was amazing as always. The staff are so lovely and friendly and can’t do enough for you, even when I asked for a combination that wasn’t on the menu it wasn’t a problem. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great quality and well presented food served by amazing, friendly staff. There’s an old saying “You get what you pay for” and this is absolutely true in Moyra Jane’s. Give this place a try, you won’t be dissapointed. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Arrived with my daughter in law and my 3month old grandson in his pram. Cold late morning and we’d just been to have baby’s immunisations done. He was upset naturally having two needles thrust into his upper thighs without warning. We were also stressed trying to comfort him, however did manage this and he fell blissfully asleep in said pram prior to our arrival at this cafe. Great we thought a nice coffee and snack in the warm after our 20 min walk calming the baby. No! Sorry we said? No you can’t bring a pram let alone a baby in here there’s no room! How utterly ridiculous and unwelcoming let alone derogatory to families! We said we would sit outside in the cold (wish we hadn’t) and ordered 2 coffees and 2 bacon rolls. They were average and unremarkable. We order 2nd round of coffee as it was still cold out. The cost? £24….. git a grip you’re a cafe serving average food and drinks. Overpriced and unwelcoming won’t be back!!!

Perfectly decent place in the southside which appears to have cornered the market of the over 70s ladies who lunch. Food is decent and staff are pleasant however it is shamefully overpriced I’m afraid! £10.50 for a baked potato?? Come on, who are you trying to kid??

I was served mouldy bread - it was dealt with very efficiently but I only wanted soup and a sandwich- probably won’t be back without an inspection of the bread - fresh bread isn’t difficult

I've love this Brasserie for years!

I used to eat here years ago and it was good. Therefore I specially booked for lunch with a family member from London. We chose the smoked haddock dish, the most expensive on the menu at just below £17. It consisted of a small dish of cheese sauce with a few flakes of haddock, 2 quarter slices of bread, butter, and a small handful of salad. My nephew got dressing for his salad - I got none. This took 20 minutes from ordering and was a great disappointment. Catching the attention of the waitress to order up coffee. and tea was also difficult. Very disappointing !! We won't be back.

Staff couldn't have been less interested if they had not even been there!

Booked for 3 friends to have lunch today, 11.30 as one of my friends was working at 2.00pm. Service excellent, staff always friendly and food very nice but after 1 hour we were advised by our waitress that our table was needed within 1/2 an hour. When waitress advised us of this she asked was this ok and I replied "not really" but this was ignored. Please advise customers when they book a table that there is a time limit on how long we can stay as we had to leave today before finishing our drinks.

Visited here recently & had an excellent Sunday brunch. Sat outside as we had the dog, and we were well looked after. Staff were attentive & friendly while the food was swift, hot, plentiful, and well presented. Well, work a visit.

Simple menu and the food was great. Relaxed and warm ambiance and the service was absolutely top drawer, we were made to feel very welcome.

I’ve eaten here in the morning often and always enjoyed the experience, service and food. I tried going on Saturday evening and it was such a nice experience . The food menus is simple but well prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. The cherry on the cake was the service which can make or break an evening and in this case, it was excellent. Rowan was friendly, attentive and very helpful.

Extremely pleasant staff, very friendly and warm. Spotlessly clean eatery. Tidy and fresh loos. Tasty coffee. Phenomenal freshly prepared fruit scones with too much cream and jam. My diabetic nurse consultant hates you good folks!

It was quiet in the evening but the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will be back to sample their menu.

We were asked to leave 10 minutes before we were told to as "the other booking had arrived" we were only there for under an hour for lunch and a catch up. Felt as though we were being watched and waited on to leave I couldn’t even finish my coffee. Bearing in mind there were atleast 4 empty tables around us. I understand that people book in advance but Iv never ever been rushed out of a cafe in my whole life.

I would give it 10 stars if I could! Though I understand that I just was lucky to catch this vibe of cozy, homie cafe, where everybody knows each other, chat, laugh, even staff and clients talk like friends. The food is great, prices are affordable. Now it will be one of my most favorite places in Glasgow. P.S.(for owners): To make the place even better, current tables and chairs could be replaced by more antique-like, though it's only my humble opinion.

Husband and self looking for our breakfast. We had not booked but they were able to seat us it the busy brasserie. Mothers Day was in full swing. Full breakfast and Eggs Benedict washed down with fresh orange te and coffee. Cooked to perfection and served with smiles. Interesting Special Board proving food for thought. Although the menu and atmosphere looked good, we were to told someone (no name) had rung up the day before and cancelled our booking. So no table was available. When all 5 of us had turned up (and no one had cancelled) still no option of a table. Make sure you confirm your booking before arriving to avoid disappointment.

This cafe is reluctant to serve folks always full but with loads of empty tables!!!!! Never answer their phone although they are open and clearly not busy. Given up trying to get a table....maybe keep tables for certain folks who know Very disappointing attitude for running a cafe

Was here today and had the most amazing Lemon Meringue Pie. It was like eating fluffy clouds My hubby had coffee and walnut cake which he said was fantastic. The same lovely girl served is as in previous visits and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you .

This is a long standing local cafe which hasn't changed much over the years, which is definitely in its favour! It's one of the few places you can actually get a 'regular' cooked breakfast as well as some more imaginative brunch options. In this occasion I had the cooked breakfast, with all your usual fare of bacon, sausages, potato scone, scrambled eggs etc. They do a really good job of this and not greasy at all, all ingredients taste very fresh and good quality. My partner had the kippers with poached eggs (again not something you see a lot these days), the fish was full of lovely smoky flavour as it should be. The coffee is also of really high standard, they do all this without a sniff of pretentiousness. They also have a wide selection of bakes and everything is very reasonably priced. Very cosy and welcoming traditional cafe. (I forgot to take pics but it was all very well presented).

We booked a table for 2 people for 1.30pm. We had both arrived on time. I had just taken my coat off after less than 5 mins there when we were asked if we were ready to order. Yes, fortunately we were. While eating our lunch, and having only been there for half an hour, we were approached and told that they needed our reserved table back for another reservation at 3pm, so we "have 50 minutes left". There were a few empty tables and no-one was waiting for a table at this point. Immediately our lunches were finished, the waitress took our plates away and asked if that was everything. I asked if I could see the menu for desserts. She brought one menu over, held it herself while pointing at the 4 or so desserts, while reeling off the available cakes. I would have liked, as is normal elsewhere, to perhaps browse the menu, have a look at the coffees, etc. Not here. I ordered a cake, it was promptly delivered. My friend and I left at 2.50pm, no longer wanting to be made so uncomfortable and unwelcome. There were quite a few empty tables as we left. Another party of 3 people arrived on-spec as were leaving, and were given a table. Meanwhile we tried to find somewhere else (more welcoming and less odd!) where we could now go to have a cup of tea and finish our chat. We were 2 middle aged women, having a catchup over lunch and tea, not drunk, not loud, not one complaint from us, and we rushed our booked lunch to accommodate them. Even tipped them - why? Won't be back. If you do go here, CHECK when you book or arrive, or even halfway through your meal, whether you have a time limit. I won't need to, I won't be going back to this strange place.

I loooove moyra's Jane. I get a coffee ☕ ☕ ☕ ☕ every week here. The cakes look scrum diddily scrumpumtios yet never got one. I recommend waffles with syrup and full breakfast. 😋 😋 😋

Had a lovely Lunch with my Daughter. Suggest you book at peak times as it justifies its popularity. We had Chorizo Macaroni Cheese and a New Yorker Ciabatta sandwich. Both were tasty. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Been there a few times, doesn't disappoint.

This neighbourhood restaurant is fine for a coffee - indoors or outdoors - and the staff are pleasant. The main meals are OK, but you could eat as well with a readymeal from the Sainsburys round the corner. With the boom in cafes and restaurants in nearby Nithsdale Road and almost-as-near Shawlands, MJ's has increasing competition from increasingly picky customers!

Went today for quick meeting over lunch. And this wee place nevers disappoints. As an eaterie It just works on all counts. Its decor is smart but not overdone, the high ceilings and tall windows allow natural ambient light to flood in. There's a friendly, relaxed vibe, helped in heaps by the genuinely engaging staff. The food is as good as it looks and it's presentation is first class. I had the Cullen Skink, traditional Scottish fayre. I daresay even Cullen natives would have loved it. Thick with haddock, it was delicious. My friend loved his home made soup with fresh bread. Good tasting coffees followed. ( We both worked hard at ignoring the urge to scoff down their renowned cakes and pastries). The price was very reasonable for the quality of the food... and the chilled atmosphere. - Highly recommended

This is a lovely intimate cafe with a good menu for quick soup and sandwiches or a larger lunch or meal. Reasonably priced and portion size is perfect! Staff are friendly and attentive. Cakes and biscuit selection is great and the larger meringues are out of this world. Super awesome wee place. Parking is on the street or a small parking area across from the cafe. A few tables outside for the lovely autumnal days or in the warmer summer weather. Covid aware with sanitiser and staff wearing masks. Can pay by cash or card. Would recommend a wee visit!
