Another great visit to Mowgli. Chat bombs were great. We got a selection of dishes for £25 a head. Great service., bright and cheery atmosphere. We sat in the window swing seat which was lovely.

All style no substance. Went in because it looks good from the outside. Was sat in an uncomfortable swing chair with no back support (chairs have that for a reason). Food was really inventive compared to an average Indian restaurant but ultimately not very good. Waiter told us to order 4 dishes between 2 people. Decided to ignore him and 2 was so much we could barely finish.

My fiancée and I find Leeds' Mowgli to be our happy place. Each time we go we appreciate it more. The staff are very polite, friendly and attentive, and this has been consistent over our three visits over the last two years. The people next to us also commented on this so I just think its all due to the culture that Nisha Katona originally set out to create. If you follow Nisha and Mowgli on social media you will understand. Last time I bought the beautiful glass water vessel for just £5 and I use it for the dense leafy twigs I get with the flowers I receive with a little water in to help it last a good while. Whenever I set off out of my place I remember that that £5 went entirely to Nisha's foundation in India and I'm really happy. We always try to taste something different and have never been disappointed by anything as its all so delicious.

The service was really good but the food was not good at all . The quantity was way too less and the prices were overhyped. The roti bread was half cooked . We also ordered the mango lassi ,it tasted a little bitter at the end of the sip . Nothing personal just it is what it is !!

Resturent was nice and clean, it’s definitely different to usual Indian restaurant, food is served as Indian Tapas, served beautifully, it’s bit bland for my palate but I’m sure it’s perfectly fine for Most people. It’s definitely worth a visit 👍

First time visit for my mum, for her 80th birthday. She absolutely loved it. We received a warm welcome. All the lights looked lovely. Seen quite a few negative reviews, but our food was all absolutely delicious, served piping hot. The lamb curry was gorgeous and the lamb just melted in your mouth. The yoghurt chat bombs are amazing! We also had a prawn curry and gunpowder chicken. Everything was fantastic. All the staff were lovely too. When they found it was my mum's birthday they brought her a lovely chocolate pudding with ice cream. Nice touch - thank you. Would definitely recommend.

The decor is nice and staff well mannered and knowledgeable . The food however is poor to say the least. The lamb chops although succulent were beyond bland and £10 for 2, come on now Mowgli. Our chicken dish again was absolutely tasteless. I would go as far as to say it didn’t even salt or pepper on it. Onto the fish and prawn curry dishes The fish and prawns were ok but again the sauces they came in tasted like they were bought from the supermarket. I am pretty sure Mowgli’s has a target customer in mind but all the food we ordered had no depth of flavour and tasted completely spice-less. Please Mowgli, sort this out as it quite embarrassing and I will definitely not recommend or visit again until you do.

Possibly the poorest curry I have ever eaten. The rice was one congealed lump, the chicken curry completely tasteless. The only plus was that it was quick. Stupid swing seats in the windows. Suggest that, unlike me, you try one of the three much better curries within 50 metres. Really annoyed that I didn’t.

Been here a couple of times and it’s great. The food is fantastic with a lot of choice for anyone. I’d recommend 3 dishes per person and my personal favourites are the ginger chicken, lamb chops and monkey wrap with chips. The place is lovely inside and feels very warm with a good atmosphere. I would say that the portions are a little overpriced for what you get but that’s only a little fault. Will definitely return. Thanks

I have to agree with other reviews. We were very disappointed on a number of issues. Food was served on cold metal dishes and when the curries arrived they were warm to the touch. I had the lamb which was bland, watery and had only a very mild flavour of the spices used. My wife had the Chicken ginger which again lacked any flavour. It is such a shame as I have had Indian street food and this was definitely all about the hype and not about serving quality food. I have had better Lamb curries from Lidls. The pluses were that the staff were good and the decor excellent but I didn’t come for that I came for good food which this restaurant fails on.

Don't bother coming if you are a group of 6+. We came for lunch on a quiet Sunday, and were informed by the staff that we could only have the £25 set Tapas menu, not order anything off the main menu. There were only about 3 other tables in the restaurant, it was quiet, and we asked if we instead could split into two groups of five. They said no, it was either the £25 set sharing menu or nothing. We booked over the phone and this was not mentioned. Had never been to Mowgli's before this but I will definitely not ever go to one again. Not great for people with dietary restrictions or allergies, go somewhere else if you want a group meal.

Visited on a weekday afternoon on a work trip to Leeds. Easy enough to get a table. Loved the decor and the service was friendly and quick. Ordered the Mango Lassi, Paneer wrap and Bhel puri and took the Mowgli house keema to go. They only had cardboard takeaway boxes which are not ideal for curries and the waiter was kind enough to advise me before hand so I didn’t have curry accidents in my way back. The mango lassi was great, Bhel puri was good as well. But the wrap was disappointing, since firstly it’s not even a wrap, just three long pieces of paneer and a bunch of leaves thrown onto a chapati with some sauce and didn’t taste great. Found the entire food experience a bit hit and miss. The vibe is lovely though, but won’t be going back for the food.

The Food was dreadful. The restaurant may look nice on the inside but don't let that fool you because the food was atrocious. On top of that they have a cheek to put on a service charge. Don't go here because the curry's taste like a microwave tesco meal . I wouldn’t be surprised if they do not even have a chef and it’s the waiter just putting ready meals in the microwave and into his tiny tins. The food is way overpriced and the portions are tiny and too top it off tastes horrible. No flavour watery and like the chefs spice rack consists of only the same 2 spices. Don't let the “good” reviews fool you. You’re better off eating cardboard. And it gave me diarrhoea. Eating here is basically letting them rob you in broad day light. Words cant describe how disappointed I am :( .

Went to Mowgli for lunch yesterday and had the sharing menu (£25 each) plus tamarind fries because they’re delicious. Everything we ate was lovely, served hot, great variety, super tasty. Harley was a dream server - understood my prawn aversion and the perfect balance of friendly, knowledgeable and attentive but without interrupting the flow of our chat (which mainly consisted of us both repeating ‘this is amazing - try it’). Service charge is included in the bill, but is optional and when I checked, the team do get it so hurray for that! Didn’t take a single pic as I was too busy eating it. We have just finished a touring holiday with four days in Leeds. We predominantly eat Indian and Punjabi food and looked forward to Mowgli. The food and service was good. BUT the noise was incredible! Thumping musac which, in my experience was probably twice the statutory level. Together with decor of a concrete ceiling, hardwood floor and half the restaurant, glass, facing the road and not an acoustic tile in sight. Sorry but we will not be returning. Staff need acoustic ear buds.

What a great place! The restaurant itself is lovely, warm and welcoming as were the staff who were all fantastic. Perfect balance between friendly and efficient, attentive but not overly. Food! Was really good, great variety of dishes and lots for vegetarians / vegans. The only dish we thought needed a bit of a re think is the stuffed loaf with chick peas which was too big, and a lot of soggy bread. Otherwise every other dish we had was exceptional. Drinks - very well priced and tasty mocktail. The red wine list was ok, the pinot noir tasted cheap however (it was the mid priced option). BUT, this place is a real gem, we'll be back for more. Thank you!

Was really looking forward to going to Mowgli as had read good things about it. We opted for the sharing menu for 2 at £25 per head. The yoghurt chat bombs starters were far too big for one mouthful and were not pleasant at all, filled with cold bland yogurt. We were served 5 (which is difficult to share between 2 as you can't cut them in half!) The fries and the chicken starters were ok but tasted exactly the same, as they were both drenched in the same overly sweet tamarind sauce. The tiffin box was the most disappointing as the portion size was tiny (for 2!) and the curries were all lukewarm. The roti breads were tiny and we needed more. Service was indifferent and no apologies were given when we mentioned that the food was nearly cold. Nice restaurant interior decor. Nice toilets. Won't be going back for a second visit though.

First visit to Mowgli Leeds and while the restaurant was really lovely we unfortunately found the food to be quite underwhelming. We had the mango lassis, chaat bombs, lamb chops, butter chicken and roti. Portions were small which we didn’t mind but the food lacked any real depth of flavour. Disappointingly the curry used chicken thigh and was a little too sweet for our palates. The potatoes with the lamb chops were probably our favourite item. Staff in the restaurant were great, helpful and attentive, and we very much enjoyed the food, but… Why metal plates, which cool the food so quickly? One of the joys of cuisine from India in particular is the vegetarian range, so why a dish with an unappetising meat substitute was there is at least strange. Plus, the use of chick pea flour makes Indian food great for coeliacs (who would always avoid the breads but would otherwise not have to ask), yet half the vegetarian dishes contained gluten. Really? C’mon Nisha - you can do better than that…

Major downside was the swing seats. Dumbest idea I've ever seen in a restaurant. Very uncomfortable to sit on, made eating quite restrictive and I was ready to leave before we had finished eating as I was so uncomfortable. I have always wanted to go to a Mowgli restaurant and finally whilst in Leeds I thought lets give it ago. The food was good and thrown in amongst some basic dishes were some flavour explosions I did not expect. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff mostly good. However would I return? I would say no and some might feel the same once you been to the restaurant. Please see the reasons why below: 1)Pricing - I was charged a service fee that usually you only ever get when they seat large parties, I was also told I would be paying a fee towards Mowgli's charity of choice. I have my own charities and this should be an option. Also there were only three of us dining and I would not class that as a large group for the service fee. We did not get anything extra for that fee so less than impressed. For 3 small people we had to order about 6 dishes plus a rice and two lots of roti to feel like you had just eaten a meal and I had a brownie this cost us over £76. Good value for money? I would not say so and even beyond the price you aren't getting any extra bells and whistles for the price or service fee, just averagely good service. 2)Some reviews grumbled about the portion size but they were small but I managed even for someone who can consume their own body weight in food. I did however found some of the dishes we had ordered inflated in price for what they were. Chicken curry with three pieces of chicken in a small dish half filled for approximately £10? Some dishes were acceptable on price but at least half our dishes I found inflated in cost for what they were. So the smaller portions mean you have to order more dishes and this will cost you. On average it cost £25 per head for three but that was with only me having a desert and two soft drinks. So with a few drinks thrown in and deserts you will welcome a bill of over £100 easily. I mean its Leeds not London!

A great place inside, decor is excellent. We went late afternoon when it was still light outside and I imagine it is even better after dark with all the lighting inside. Our first visit and the menu was explained to us as similar to tapas. We were recommended to choose 3 different things from different parts of the menu. I chose the meat Tiffin Box which comprised of two different chicken curries, rice and a dish of spiced potatoes. The food was tasty but was let down by not being hot enough. It was only warm when I got it and by the time I’d finished eating it was almost cold (I note that other reviews have mentioned this issue so maybe it’s something they need to look at). I was going to mention it to the waitress but she simply collected the empty dishes and never asked if everything was okay. Another thing also mentioned in other reviews is the price of drinks. £5.50 for a 330ml bottle of Cobra is a bit steep. It doesn’t state the size of the bottle on the menu but for that price I was expecting a 500ml bottle. Overall experience was a little disappointing as I had been looking forward to going after it was recommended to us by friends. That said I would go again and give it a second chance.

I was quite disappointed with my experience at Mowgli. It had been our list for some time, especially after seeing Nisha on the Great British Menu. Considering the tiffin box is front and centre in the menu I had high expectations. The 3 dishes we received in it were not complementary nor were they particularly tasty. Also we had 2 veggie dishes in what was sold as a meat tiffin box. The only dish we genuinely enjoyed was the monkey wrap. The flavours in this were great. Avoid the swings unless you want an awkward dining experience and some back pain. Briefly fun but quickly not. I would not recommend visiting.

We enjoyed our Mowgli experience. The food was outstanding - fresh flavours and interesting flavour combinations, all cooked perfectly. It was a little on the expensive side, but when the food is that good it is worth it. We'd highly recommend the Chat Bombs and Sticky Chicken. We, as a couple, had seven dishes between us which seemed ample. Service was decent (though we did have to ask for cutlery) and the menu was explained well to us with it being our first visit - questions about the menu were helpfully answered. Drinks were too expensive though - I ordered the Cobra beer in a bottle for £5.25, but was disappointed when it arrived as a 330ml. I think that ought to be specified on the menu.

This place has really good presence from the street and looks inviting. We dined as a 3 for lunch without a reservation and were given a nice table immediately. A nice selection of food on the menu and the butter chicken was really tasty! The staff were attentive and polite and the food is excellent value for money. A draught beer option would be nice, bit overall a great experience.

Me and my wife came in for our anniversary meal, our waitress Emma was amazing she explained the menu terrifically and looked after us all evening. Emma recommended the sticky chicken which my wife loved, we will be back happily and would hope Emma would be our waitress again :))

Wow wow wow - visited as a group of 8 we opted for the sharing platter( although we had to ask for this menu) and it didn’t disappoint! Each dish was absolutely amazing- brought Indian food to a whole new level. One of the group had the gluten free option- again was delicious. The wine was a good price and the service was fantastic. Will definitely return

Never seen such charlatanry before. If you want to see what the Indian restaurant scene would be like after a famine please go to Mowgli. If you want a curry that is 70 percent water please visit Mowgli. In addition, if you want an extortionate service charge and a forced donation to a mysterious charity, please go and maybe you can be “squeezed in” by the patronising front of house member. You may choose to sit on the swings which you’ll be needing to swing on because entertainment will be pushed at the forefront due to the rumbling stomach you will have. You may choose to sit next to a cackling bunch of hipsters who know nothing about food. All in all, if you want to participate in a Mowgli sponsored hunger strike please go an enjoy the street food or maybe go for a Greggs and you’ll be better off.

We had a lovely evening here and enjoyed trying the different dishes. Service was friendly and attentive. The decor is great and made for a fun dining experience.

Nice place, good atmosphere. Food was similar in taste with different dishes. Very small portions for the price. Tamarind potatoes were drowning in the sauce so soggy. Not a lot of meat in the curry dishes

I love Mowgli... I love the food and I love the attitude. And the swing seats. The staff are great. And the Chat Bombs here in Leeds are the best I have ever had!

Been here multiple times and it's always amazing, great choice of gluten free food and they're always super helpful! Separate menu and you can always ask questions! Also the food is just some of the best I've ever had at an Indian I'd eat here every day if I could! Also, as long as you book before hand to make sure a table is free, it's wheelchair accessible! And the staff are always good to help change your table if you forget to specify beforehand!

Waited 20 minutes to be seated Then had to ask someone to take our order We were put near the door so it was cold and draughty Some of the dishes were luke warm After looking forward to this for sometime it really was quite disappointing.

I loved the deco and staff were friendly but the food was disappointing for my first trip there. The rotis were very hard, small and hard. The potatoes used in the dishes were identical and the same spices used throughout.

Wow Very impressed. The food and place was excellent. I had the chicken tika, it was the best I have ever had. Rafa ( front and back of the house gaffer) runs a very professional ship. The staff were so polite and helpful and treated you like a valued customer. Ellie, the new member of staff and her first night , was being trained by Rafa and the team. She will do very well, with her polite and professional manner. Use this lovley indian restaurant. You will have a lovely night out.

Poor service manager doesnt know what he is doing poorly ran. I feel sorry fornthe waiting staff as the get left to deal with complaints while managers and owners hide away.
