We ordered veg lentils, was very delicious. The spice level was spot on. We found the portion size small, The waiter advice us to order 2 , 3 portions per person. It would be very expansive. No tandoori nan bread.

Great food. We had a lovely waitress, she helped us move after we were swiftly left at a table in the middle of the restaurant. I was using a walking frame (a rollator) which was clearly visible. There was nowhere to leave it at the table we'd been allocated. The waitress helped us move to a more suitable position, where I could put my frame, out of everyone's way.

Disappointed with our visit, the interior was basic not what we were expecting, and had uncomfortable seating and lacking in atmosphere. The staff were not very attentive although very pleasant. The food was tasty, enjoyed the small tapas style dishes, not a patch on Dishoom which is of a similar style of eating experience.

Unfortunately, but food was a little disappointing and curry was very watery, literally 4 little pieces of meat innit, where we’ve asked about meat option. £25 per head, drinks, kids meal (kids butter chicken was very spicy) We found it to pricey for what it was. For £80 you would expect to have a great service experience but it was very disappointing. We got a attitude from the waitress when I’ve asked to change a table, ( she tried to sit us down by the main kitchen entrance and main bar with 4 year old and 5 months old in the pram) She didn’t like the fact that we came with a pram because the restaurant it’s pretty small inside but still manageable so I didn’t understand where this attitude came from. I would say 3 starts out of 5. We had better Indian food and honestly I don’t think we will be back again. Sorry! We loved the idea of the place and the inspiration. But that’s all.

It genuinely blows my mind that this restaurant chain was founded by someone of Indian heritage. the replies to comments here saying that the recipes are “founders” recipes. how???? because the food and vibe feel like a parody of Indian culture created for Western Instagram feeds. all aesthetic, no authenticity. The food is bland, watery, stripped of flavour, and completely detached from any real Indian cooking. if you’re going to use gimmicks like steel tiffins and swings, at least make food that can back them up. and the name “Mowgli”? A monkey logo? the steel tiffins? It’s textbook cultural appropriation, except this time, it’s self-inflicted. just repackaging your own culture into a quirky theme restaurant. There are countless small Indian restaurants in Leeds serving good tasting food even if not authentic. they might not have swings or million tiny bulbs, but they know their flavour. don’t need to rebrand their heritage as an aesthetic. what a pity.

Went with friends who'd been before and had a lovely time. Service staff were friendly and attentive, and explained how the food worked for those of us who hadn't been before (think tapas but Indian!) - our table's food did end up arriving all at once in the end though, which was appreciated. The labelling of low carbon dishes is a nice touch, and definitely contributed to my choices. The food was also delicious, with a massive choice for all diets.

This was our first visit to Mowgli in Leeds and it was a delightful experience! We opted for the sharing feast, and every dish was absolutely divine. The flavors were vibrant, fresh, and perfectly balanced, giving us a true taste of Indian street food. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, making it the perfect place for a meal with friends or family. We highly recommend Mowgli, especially the sharing feast for those wanting to explore a variety of dishes. The service was attentive, and we left feeling satisfied and eager to return. After months/years(!?) if walking past Mowgli on our way to the train station and saying "must go there", my wife and I managed to go in January on a rare weekend without kids. The food and service was so good that we had to revisit with child 2 in February - sorry child 1, you're at uni and don't get the treat :-(. The experience is a bit like Indian tapas, and the serving staff will help you choose the right number and type of dishes. We don't like overly hot/spicey food, and to our taste it's all lovely.

The restaurant is very pretty and the service was ok but the food was such a let down. The angry bird had no flavour and neither did the gunpowder chicken, I expected spicy full flavours but this was so bland. The curries were flavourless, not spicy and very thin sauce. The roti were dry and very small. Really dissapointed.

Would have given it a -5 rating if I could. I thought eating out venues were at crisis. Nisha Katona must have absolutely shed loads of money if she is employing people like this. Was made to wait for close to 5 minutes to be seated. The manager made eye contact 3 times but ignored me. Then when I was eventually seated, she made eye contact numerous times and decided to wipe down empty tables and set them up (they weren't used for the duration of my dine) instead of taking my drinks and food order. I ended up waiting close to 10 minutes for my order to be taken. It's a shame they employ people like this - how she is a manager is beyond me. On a side note, the food was fantastic. Absolutely loved it but I DEFINITELY will not be going there again. I will also be telling all friends and family to avoid unless they want to be ignored and made to wait around for no reason. If you want to go to a nice Indian restaurant where they don't treat you like lepers, go to Tamatanga in Leeds - they know what customer service is.

Food was great. Although the rotis were very expensive for what you get. I would get the rice next time. We had a great waitress at the start. She helped us order, offered suggestions, knew the alternate names of the dishes, was fast and adhered to any requests we had. But then near the end of our service, our waitress changed, likely because our original waitress clocked out. This waitress that I can only describe at your typical slightly overweight British woman, was very rude and offered disgusting service. She ignored any of our requests and was rushing for us to finish. Every few minutes she would ask if we are done or like to order, even after saying we would like some time. There was still food on my plate. She gave us the bill without any request and came to collect payment just 2 minutes later! She also never cleared out our table, despite it being flooded with empty glasses and plates. We had to wait until some other gentlemen did it for her. I would have liked to tip the original waitress but the second one I don’t think should be working there at all! I get better service at Wetherspoons.

nicely decorated and set up, good service from the staff. But the food was far from good. We had a set meal for 3 of us. it came with the smallest chapati I've ever seen (the size of a good biscuit) and there were 2 of them for 3 people. small portions. the starter was inedible and i eat anything and everything. Mains were watery in consistency. The only large portion was a potatoes dish. I don't go to an Indian restaurant for potatoes. Everything is gluten free, great if you can't tolerate it so maybe that's why the dishes didn't do it for me in the taste department. Soda water very expensive, same as a coke. Surprised there are so many top reviews. so guess its just me!

Mowgli is somewhere I keep coming back to, partly because of the gorgeous street-style food and also the atmosphere. The staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable about the food that is served - the waitress that we spoke to said that as part of their training, they work in the kitchens so they can experience the food at every stage of its creation. We had the lunchtime sharing menu, which was delicious and gave a sample of a good amount of dishes. The tiffin box was chef’s choice, but we were told we could request certain dishes if we wanted - it had to be the house lamb curry! All in all, it was another great meal and a smashing addition to a great day out.

Really nice restaurant ambience with fairy lights, lots of windows and mirrors. The staff were very friendly and fast. They take any kind of food allergy very seriously. We ordered the tiffin, which was nice, not remotely spicy, but you can request chilli. The evening we went this included 2 chicken dishes, a potato dish and rice. I had a paneer roti, which was tasty, kind of sweet. I also had the chat balls which were full of yoghurt, and I was expecting pain puri. Food is kind of bland, but that’s likely why it’s so popular. It was full. The drinks are unnecessarily expensive: no beer on tap just bottle or can of very average lager (we had cobra and estrella).

A Disappointment for Authentic Indian Cuisine As an Indian myself, I was deeply disappointed with my experience at Mowgli in Leeds. While I understand the need for restaurants to sometimes adapt their recipes to cater to local palates, Mowgli's interpretation of Indian food felt like a complete departure from authentic flavours, bordering on misrepresentation. It feels like they are capitalizing on the popularity of Indian cuisine without delivering the true experience, ultimately doing a disservice to the British public by presenting a distorted view of Indian food. Don't get me wrong the vibe, ambience and service is top notch but the food is sub par the reputation Mowgali carries. To give an example "Goa Fish Curry." Having tasted countless versions of this dish throughout India, I can confidently say that Mowgli's rendition bears no resemblance to the real thing. It seemed as though neither the chef nor the owner has ever actually tasted a genuine Goa Fish Curry. The complex blend of spices, the subtle tang of coconut milk, and the fresh taste of the fish were all absent. What I received was a bland, uninspired dish that lacked any of the characteristic flavours of Goa. It's one thing to tone down the spice level for British tastes, but it's quite another to fundamentally alter the dish to the point where it becomes unrecognizable. Mowgli seems to have crossed that line. They are not simply mellowing down the spices; they are changing the entire flavour profile while still using authentic Indian names, which I consider misleading. While I appreciate the ambiance and the concept Mowgli is trying to create, the core of any restaurant is its food. In this regard, Mowgli falls far short of expectations. For anyone seeking a genuine taste of Indian cuisine, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. Mowgli is, in my opinion, robbing British people of the opportunity to experience the true richness and diversity of Indian flavours. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst experiences of Indian flavours I've had in the UK.

Really tasty selection but just not quite warm enough it took us a while to work our way through the dishes and so as weren’t piping hot it cooled very quickly- the metal plates whilst super stylish don’t help. We didn’t finish everything part due to temp and because we had probably over ordered. We weren’t asked for any feedback as to why.

Tommy was fantastic and made sure we were understanding in the portion size before ordering. Food was brilliant and service was really fast.

Excelentes instalaciones. El lugar tiene un gran revuelo. La comida es preciosa. Grandes opciones, incluyendo muchas opciones de verduras. Platos bien presentados y coloridos.

Excellent. Brilliant place. Busy in Leeds when I visited as it was the Light Night Festival. Mowgli's is a great place to dine: the staff are exemplary, the place is divine - lit up with lots of twinkly lights, it has some tables with swings to sit on and the food is top notch. I have to make a special mention for my server, Tommy. Tommy was an absolute sweetiepie, polite, charming, very knowledgeable re food portions and menu and just a super lovely person. He could not have been more welcoming or helpful and he made me smile, felt I'd known him years. What an asset to the company. All the staff were great. The food is good portions. I chose two which was more than enough, had to take some away with me in the end. I had fenugreek tamarind fries and the Mowgli Paneer. The paneer had a spicy bite and the fries were moreish and out of this world. Very impressed all round with Mowgli's. The loos - very, very nice loos, are downstairs. Good choices for vegetarians too. I loved this place and will definitely revisit. Very highly recommended.

Quality fine dinning in the heart of Leeds city. Perfect location to eat some food after a day Trip to Leeds city. Food service is amazing as they use proper tradition way to serve food. One of my favourite were lamb chops.

We ordered the set menu which is a steal at £25 for all the food you get! The food was delicious and the drinks were also good ( I can definitely recommend the Mango Mocktail!) Service was prompt and good, atmosphere was lovely, I don’t have any faults!

The food WAS lovely other than.. after discussing my aversion to coriander with the waitress, and asking which items did/did not have it.. every single one of the 5 dishes we ordered came out covered with coriander. I understand coriander is a common ingredient in Indian food, but to up to 20% of the population it tastes very bad and can make food inedible.

All style no substance. Went in because it looks good from the outside. Was sat in an uncomfortable swing chair with no back support (chairs have that for a reason). Food was really inventive compared to an average Indian restaurant but ultimately not very good. Waiter told us to order 4 dishes between 2 people. Decided to ignore him and 2 was so much we could barely finish.

My fiancée and I find Leeds' Mowgli to be our happy place. Each time we go we appreciate it more. The staff are very polite, friendly and attentive, and this has been consistent over our three visits over the last two years. The people next to us also commented on this so I just think its all due to the culture that Nisha Katona originally set out to create. If you follow Nisha and Mowgli on social media you will understand. Last time I bought the beautiful glass water vessel for just £5 and I use it for the dense leafy twigs I get with the flowers I receive with a little water in to help it last a good while. Whenever I set off out of my place I remember that that £5 went entirely to Nisha's foundation in India and I'm really happy. We always try to taste something different and have never been disappointed by anything as its all so delicious.

The service was really good but the food was not good at all . The quantity was way too less and the prices were overhyped. The roti bread was half cooked . We also ordered the mango lassi ,it tasted a little bitter at the end of the sip . Nothing personal just it is what it is !!

Resturent was nice and clean, it’s definitely different to usual Indian restaurant, food is served as Indian Tapas, served beautifully, it’s bit bland for my palate but I’m sure it’s perfectly fine for Most people. It’s definitely worth a visit 👍

First time visit for my mum, for her 80th birthday. She absolutely loved it. We received a warm welcome. All the lights looked lovely. Seen quite a few negative reviews, but our food was all absolutely delicious, served piping hot. The lamb curry was gorgeous and the lamb just melted in your mouth. The yoghurt chat bombs are amazing! We also had a prawn curry and gunpowder chicken. Everything was fantastic. All the staff were lovely too. When they found it was my mum's birthday they brought her a lovely chocolate pudding with ice cream. Nice touch - thank you. Would definitely recommend.

The decor is nice and staff well mannered and knowledgeable . The food however is poor to say the least. The lamb chops although succulent were beyond bland and £10 for 2, come on now Mowgli. Our chicken dish again was absolutely tasteless. I would go as far as to say it didn’t even salt or pepper on it. Onto the fish and prawn curry dishes The fish and prawns were ok but again the sauces they came in tasted like they were bought from the supermarket. I am pretty sure Mowgli’s has a target customer in mind but all the food we ordered had no depth of flavour and tasted completely spice-less. Please Mowgli, sort this out as it quite embarrassing and I will definitely not recommend or visit again until you do.

Great service, amazing food. Went for our Anniversary tonight with our son. He summed it up beautifully... "that was the best restaurant we've been to!" Mocktails were great, food never disappoints. Well done Team Mowgli!

Possibly the poorest curry I have ever eaten. The rice was one congealed lump, the chicken curry completely tasteless. The only plus was that it was quick. Stupid swing seats in the windows. Suggest that, unlike me, you try one of the three much better curries within 50 metres. Really annoyed that I didn’t.

Waited 2 hours for the food to be delivered. I was told 45 mins to 1 hour when I placed the order. Rang up after 1 and a half hours told 5 mins. 30 minutes later it arrived! The food was good. But the service was terrible.
