Having been to Mowgli in Liverpool & Cheshire quite a few times I was really disappointed with the Birmingham restaurant & wouldn't return again. Having recommended this restaurant to my work colleagues based on previous experiences I felt unbelievably let down & embarrassed, the food was lovely but was shocking. We booked for 7 people in advance, midweek, & paid our £5 per head deposit, table booked for 7pm, we arrived 5 mins early & stood at the door for 5 mins before anybody came over to help us then to be told you have no booking & then walk away to carry on serving other customers, then a gentleman appeared, found our booking & asked us to wait again & read the menu stood at the door whilst he prepared our table, eventually we got seated & then after approx 25 mins of reading the menu with not even a drink, we asked to place our food & drink order, eventually the drinks arrived after another reminde, then by 8pm the food arrived but we had no plates so the waiter took it away & somebody else came back wit it, no check in that we were happy, offer drinks etc, in the end we had to go and find somebody to get out bill & then to finish off get up again to find somebody to pay as nobody appeared. We were sat close to the window & could see people coming into the restaurant & then walking out again as nobody available to welcome them. In summary food lovely, service, the worst Ive had in any restaurant for a looooong time!

Me and my girlfriend have been to Mowgli before and we enjoyed the experience the first time, so we came for a second time yesterday! And unfortunately we left with dissatisfaction and the thought, “We should’ve maybe gone somewhere else.” We hadn’t booked, and when we got there and told the waiter this he seemed immediately quite standoffish and hostile, as though this was quite a major personal inconvenience. Thankfully there were seats so we sat down but whenever he appeared at the table he seemed irritated and unenthusiastic to speak to us and generally left a mood of aggravation on the table by the time he left. I don’t expect much from a waiter, but to seem genuinely annoyed to wait our table? I understand everyone’s human and sometimes fitting two people onto a table at 2pm Sunday might be difficult, or maybe he was simply having a bad day, but it left a bad taste. Further, he sat us on an unbooked table right behind him, which was right next to another unbooked table (no one sat there for the entire time we were there), and there were many other unbooked tables which no one ever sat down on! His frustration seemed uncaused but somehow rooted in something we’d done, and his irritated nature whenever he came to the table never failed to leave a lingering thought of, “What gives?” “Why the standoffishness?” The food arrived and was nice! Fish curry wasn’t really to my taste but that’s nothing against the dish itself, and my girlfriend’s paneer curry and the slaw she got on the side were both delicious. The rotis were an amazing accompaniment also. No complaints about the food! Still I’m not coming back to Mowgli any time soon. Might seem like a minor nitpick but the waiter left quite a bit of discomfort whenever he arrived. We had to reaffirm to ourselves a few times if we’d done something to offend but his irritated demeanour seemed to start when we said we hadn’t booked a table, only for him to seat us on an unbooked table literally right behind him, with an empty unbooked table right beside it, and empty unbooked tables basically all over the place. What gives! Overall for the price we paid (£47 total for 2 curries, a bowl of rice, a bowl of slaw, (all of the above served in quite small bowls), 2 rotis, 2 coke zero’s, a service charge, an a donation to charity) we left dissatisfied. Thankfully the waiter who gave us the bill (the receipt says that this was “Kieran” who I must thank!) was much more cheerful than the other waiter. Maybe I’ll go to a Mowgli again but for now I’m sticking with other places around Birmingham.

Whilst out shopping and having ended the day at the station, being very hungry and tired this little place caught my eye. I was not disappointed, great food, cocktails and quite a gem of a place. I will definitely visit another, I like theme element!

Fortunately we were with family who had been to a branch of Mowgli before so could guide us through the menu. Even so I’m not sure I ordered the best options but the tamarind fries were very good. Service was efficient on a very busy night. The birthday girl got a free chocolate brownie with large sparkler, which was a nice touch. We had booked a table but still had to hang around outside the restaurant until our table was available. They really should have an indoor seating area for people who are waiting.

I had been to the Liverpool restaurant and was underwhelmed with the food, but decided to try the Birmingham restaurant after a night at the theatre. The restaurant in Grand Central was beautifully decorated and the staff were very friendly. I had eaten Asian food before and spent 10 days in India, so was looking forward to a quality product and new fresh flavours. The meal had small portions, the roti was under cooked and leathery, the rice was sticky and the whole meal went cold within minutes which suggested the meal was not cooked from scratch, but rather boiled in the bag or microwaved. You couldn't smell the kitchen and there was not an Asian staff member to be seen. We paid £68.00 for 3 of us, we felt the whole experience was over priced and of poor quality. There's a saying "if Asians don't eat there, it cant be any good". I wish I went else where! Beautiful venue, but poor portion size and value for money.

This was my second time at Mowglis having ate at the Brighton restaurant . The food quality and presentation as always was excellent. However a point for concern was the presence of mice in the venue, which when pointed out to staff when paying our bill was met with faux surprise and complete indifference. Undoubtedly l will continue to eat at Mowglis but will definitely be avoiding the Birmingham franchise.

The yummiest food I have had in a long time! Every dish was delicious, the Sticky Chicken was a standout as well as the Roti. Cocktails are all a must try and make sure you have desert as well, the Salted Caramel cone was soooo good! I would say booking is essential as it gets busy from 5pm, service was attentive but relaxed and the restaurant had a really good vibe. You won’t be disappointed!

I have read much about this restaurant chain and have wanted to try it for ages. Looking round Grand Central in Birmingham and about to go for texmex, I spied Mowgli. A very pleasant waiter explained how the concept and we were soon poring over the menu. We chose butter chicken, chicken pops and a chicken roti. All were delicious, especially the chicken pops. The staff were very pleasant, the service was good and the room was busy for a lumchtime. We would go back in a heart beat. The only complaint the lighting was dark, which made the menu hard to read (out came the phone torch).

We celebrated our friend's birthday on Tuesday and had a brilliant evening. The food was lovely, the venue was perfect, staff members Frank and Ryan were very attentive and certainly enhanced our night; Ryan even sang "Happy Birthday" to our birthday girl when he brought out her candlelit cake. Well done guys! The venue is very relaxed and beautifully lit which set the mood for the evening. Two of our party had not been to Mowgli's Birmingham before but, after such a lovely experience, they will certainly be going there again and introducing their families and friends to it. If you want a good evening out with good (but not expensive) Indian street food, hop on the train then just pop upstairs in Grand Central to Mowgli's - you won't be disappointed. Four very contented Mowgli-ers! ***Advisable to book a table***

Awful service. 9 of us arrived in plenty of time for our 8-10 slot. Table wasn’t ready, we acknowledged that it was really busy, so not too much of a problem. We had to shuffle along a bench seat as there were highchairs stored, had to ask for them to be moved. It must have taken about 20 mins to take drinks order! They took ages to arrive, then we ordered food. We were told it was a tapas style menu, food came out when ready, our expectation was that we’d be eating our food at different times, ok with that. At no time were there apologies for the delays, no expectations set. Some food arrived before 930, for two people,(our time slot was almost up at 10 pm) Others after that, all together. We were so hungry. Given extra sides as an apology, but not required. The food was absolutely delicious though, we all tucked in and thoroughly enjoyed all the different flavours. What a shame though that our recall of the evening is one of poor service.

As others have said very bland and boring. Definitely not the tastes of Indian food never mind street food. The lamb cops- one was rare and one was chewy and both full of gristle fat. You’re lucky to get two bite fulls. The wrap was 3 pieces of poor quality paneer and lots and lots rocket leaf. The bhel poori they served is an insult to the dish. Mango lassi is mango straight out of a tin. All round poor. I ve tried it now but now again for a very long time if ever.

Advertised as home cooked authentic Indian street food. Although the food was acceptable I'd say it arrives in containers and is dinged in a microwave. The food was sadly lacking and gave both my partner and myself chronic heartburn. Having eaten Indian food for a number of years this was more like eating A ready meal from the chilled aisle from the supermarket . On a plus side the service was good and the staff attentive.

Never had Indian tapas before and while it’s quite expensive, it’s a nice experience. The setting is very pretty and we were well looked after by the staff. The food did take a really long time to come to the table, probably an hour from when we all sat down, but it was all hot and tasty. We ordered 6 plates for each couple (there were 6 of us) and there wasn’t much that went uneaten so it was the perfect amount of food.

We have enjoyed India food in many restaurants across the country, but we're totally blown away by experience at Mowgli in Great Central Station in Birmingham. The service was awesome and the food was the tastiest we have ever had in any Indian restaurant. We had two tiffins. One container is rice and the other three are curries. Best we have ever eaten and it was gluten free! We're going back again this coming weekend.

While the decor and the customer service was good, the food is nothing like authentic Indian street food! The portion sizes were small and to charge almost £4.00 for a single puri is unacceptable. We all enjoyed the Yogurt Chat (chaat) Bombs and the portion size was fair. The House Chicken and House Lamb dishes were at best below an average authentic curry; neither tasted fresh, so assume frozen or processed. House Chicken sauce was thin with grit like spices; as for the House lamb it was tough and tasted sour. Appreciate bringing street food into a restaurant is not straightforward - true street food style means rice or roti (naan/puri) is included in main dish curry price.

He probado muchos restaurantes indios en el área de Southfield de Northfield, pero desde mi reciente visita al restaurante Jafrany se ha convertido en una de mis casas de curry favoritas.
