Banu in Birmingham

Rice watery , masala cold n without flavour and cheese narn with 0 cheese despite asking for it to come xtra cheesy .... Really disappointed and a waste of money not even eaten half of it

The restaurant over charged me by £100, and when I asked for them to refund me the £100 they said “we can’t do it until my brother is in at 12:00 tomorrow to bank transfer you” which sounded dodgy to me. So when I asked for cash in that case they said that they can give me cash but I had to give it back the next day and they will transfer me the money back again so that they didn’t pay VAT on the first transaction. When they arrived at my house 45 minutes later the man tried to argue with me that I should wait for tomorrow to get a bank transfer from his brother and I told him no we agreed cash and he reluctantly pulled the cash out of his pocket and gave it to me. To add insult to injury the food was cold and not great to be honest. He had told me that I would receive the bank transfer by 12:00 the next day and that he would phone to arrange picking the cash back up. 12:00 came and went with no transfer, so I texted and called to chase this up to which I was told “it will be sometime this evening now, we will call you when we are outside”. I told them no I’m not just going to sit in and wait for them to call me at whenever works for them as I have other things to do and he said that it is the only way and they will be coming this evening. I asked that since they have put me out so much that they should at least refund the full transaction including the price of my meal. This prompted him to start raising his voice down the phone at me and start insulting me with things like “so you’re this kind of guy then” etc. When I told him I don’t appreciate him having a go at me when I’ve had to chase them down to sort this out he ended up eventually just hanging up on me. Avoid this place, so dodgy.

Prawn biryani was not nice at all - tasted of oil and onions - no flavour I specifically rang to ask to make it spicy too. And the mint sauce was veryyy sweet. Curry was nice

Food was nice other then the 6/7 pieces of chicken the curry’s, used the 25 percent off looks like the chicken was taken off that percentage.

So I bit the bullet after reading reviews about the food being bland or mild. I ordered pilau rice, Balti curry, onion bhaji and veg samosa… Sooo… Pilau rice - was nice, abit bland compared to the normal pilau rice from other restaurants but nice anyway. Balti curry - honestly, I kid you not. Tasted like a Korma. No spice at all, no flavour, smelt nice but never had such a bland Balti curry in my life. I was so disappointed. Onion Bhaji - actually tasted nice.. well apart from the edges which were burnt! So had to pick them off. Veg Samosa - well guessing you guys ran out cause I never received them, instead I received a vegetable substitute no idea what it was as again! It was burnt! BUTTT there was one in the bag which was less burnt than the rest and honestly it had a nice flavour so I wasn’t mad at you swapping it, but would have tasted loads better if you actually didn’t cremate it. All in all, nice place, food is far too bland for my liking and to burn the starters. That tipped me over the edge, I mean… maybe I was really unlucky, but I know I won’t be returning.

Ordered the lamb Biriani and a lamb curry, the biryani was very oily and the meat was very tough. The lamb curry the flavour was great however the lamb pieces were very tough and almost like they were pre-cooked and added sauce.

Absolutely amazing food. We ate in here once off a groupon deal and it was so amazing I’ve ordered take away tonight. Lean tender chicken with no gristle or fat, the egg fried rice super tasty and the keema and garlic mix in the naan was perfect. I had the garlic and coriander chicken and cannot fault it. I’m very found my new regular take away. Thank you guys

So 3 weeks ago we was looking for somewhere to eat, I rang Banu who were happy to accommodate my group of 4, we had been to the theatre and got soaked on the way out. We were greeted upon arrival by a lovely man who I never caught his name, he provided us some heaters to warm us up, we ordered food and was not disappointed, the best chicken tikka starter I’ve ever had, it was fresh , hot, juicy and flavoursome! The mains were just as good. Tonight we ordered a takeaway and it was just as amazing! Thankyou again

no taste in the food the delivery boy told me the restaurant is 47 years old only tomatoes all over it is surely not indian food.The chef is 100% dose not comes from India please don't call it indian. It is my humble request. Please search or visit indian to check how curry is cooked in. india.

Loved every bite! Fantastic, I've found a new favourite takeaway 👌 I am fussy with my curry because most places just don't know how it should taste, but this place is spot on.

Ordered the just eat bargain deal for one which allows any traditional curry starter naan or rice. I asked for madras, instead got a balti, I selected an extra naan instead of a naan and I got no extra naan and no starter - at least they could’ve gave me a starter if no extra naan. The delivery guy was nice and friendly however so that was a positive.

This is the third time I’ve ordered from here and it was delicious (and I’ve got a menu now so I can cut out the middleman’s commission). Delivery time was prompt enough within reason, it’s just kinda far from where I live.

Food is always perfect and hot. Always make the food to the spice level that you can handle/want. Service is very fast too. Vegetarian food is brilliant in general.

The food was absolutely amazing and tasty. The staff were polite and helpful. I got a Groupon deal which was easy to redeem. It's unfortunate there wasn't more customer to add to the atmosphere but other than that, we had a pleasant experience and really enjoyed the food.

The dishes were not cooked to usual standard. The nushroom rice was not the recipe i am used to,it wasvery greasy. The biryani sauce was not to the usual recipe. The Rogan Josh was greasy did not enjoy our meal . In fact we didn't fìnish it .

Ordered takeaway. I was staying in a hotel in city centre the food was 10/10 and the delivery driver was friendly and courteous. Phoned me once outside hotel no problem. I highly recommend

After a late night munch and this was definitely the right place! I usually stick to the same restaurants but branched out and I have no complaints. The deal is good value for money, generous sized portions and full of flavour! Also got my curry perfect as written in the comment box. Will definitely order from you guys again

All very satisfactory food of reasonable quality it’s just a bit ordinary and average. Have had much better flavours and food TBH. Asked for extra fresh coriander as it’s always missing off the curries and STILL I didn’t get it. Ah well the search for the perfect Indian takeaway continues..

First time ordering from banu and was absolutely gorgeous food, I had king prawn vindaloo and the prawns was really big and juicy, worth every penny, although they forgot to put the salad in to go with the started so rang them and they offered to come bk and deliver the salad which was really nice of them but I said no worries saves you coming bk out just for the salad and they said thankyou and just mention it nxt time I order and I will be definitely be ordering again and one time go and sit in. We received a warm and friendly welcome and service (and have done whenever we've visited over the years). They have a wide variety of dishes (both vegetarian and non vegetarian), and so you're bound to find something on the menu you would like to try and enjoy.

Ordered a chicken tikka bhuna using Uber eats and didn’t like it much. Onions could have been cooked for longer to make them softer and the chicken find have much flavour. Don’t recommend this curry

Banu is a small family run business... The missus and I went out for dinner. Customer service was great. The staff were very friendly. We had food from the set menu. Both missus and I enjoyed our dinner; zero complaints from us. I can see us coming back here again.

Let me start off by saying I ordered food online. Heres what I ordered: Chicken & Egg noodles King Prawn noodles Chicken Curry Chicken Biryani Do you know how they made the noodles? These guys literally must of went to homebargains brought those 3 for £1 noodles or some next corner shop and dunked the chicken and prawn with a some kind of sauce and called it homemade noodles. It was absolutely vile. Next the Chicken curry and my god was this the worst I've ever seen. I felt as if they dumped dog food in a box and said "here eat up buddy". They put a bunch of veggies in the curry which I didn't ask for and also curry was sour instead of mild. Chicken biryani - this was absolutely disgusting and went straight into the bin. If you are looking for Indian cuisine or ordering late at night. Stay very far away from this place. Never ever will be ordering again. £40 gone straight in the bin.

Best Indian food in Birmingham.

Don't go there if U expect authentic Indian cuisine . Ordered chicken biryani and tikka mixed grill through the Uber app. Food arrived quickly but unfortunately I don't like it Taste is bland and not spicy at all. Can see that restaurant is focused to bring Gori customer.

The food was lovely, but there was barely any meat in the Korma like 4- 5 chunks and lots or sauce. There atmosphere was quiet due to it being New Year’s Eve so we was able to do new years count down with my BBC app. Although it would have been nice for them to have some music on in the background. Lovely service man.

Food and people very nice but the restaurant needs up dating. Needs a paint brush. Quite cold. Toilets need cleaning regularly floor sticky.

A warm welcome and very friendly staff, continually checking we were happy with our food. We were, it was absolutely delicious ! Soft drinks only, sold on the premises. Not sure if you could take your own alcohol, might be worth asking, we weren’t fussed at the time. Decor basic, but we didn’t mind that, we weren’t dressed to impress. Would definitely eat there again, thank you Banu !

Get takeaway regularly from here and it's great.

I've been eating at Banu for over ten years now and have enjoyed good, friendly service and splendid vegetarian food. The place has a sort of old-fashioned charm about it and isn't too noisy. In my opinion, it is also reasonably priced. This evening, I had a three course meal followed by a nice coffee served with delicious silky cream as requested. For my main meal, I had noodles with korma sauce and it was just the ticket. I'd recommend Banu if you're visiting Birmingham alone or want a meal out with a friend or partner.

The only Indian takeaway I’ll order from. The service is always great and the food is consistently delicious!

’ve not eaten in the restaurant and I’m not sure why because the food that arrives as a takeaway is fantastic! The curries are the best I’ve tasted, proper old school! Drivers very friendly, would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go to the restaurant !!
