The atmosphere was like a pub and smells like one, the only thing was missing was a couple doorman at the front door. The food was quality was not what I expected for the desi currys this place was not worth the visit. I could not wait to leave as the drunks where getting louder. It's not a family or child friendly place due to alcohol being served. Disgusting!

Shababs has cut down on potions, used to be large. Plus now charging for which spice levels.

Properly authentic balti from the OG. Chicken Tikka chili masala was amazing at medium heat (felt hotter) loads of flavour keeping you coming back against the spice. Have a nan to calm Will be back

I went there because I heard it was a great restaurant that was even featured on the BBC. I ordered the signature dish, The Hairy Biker Chicken Balti, with naan. The sauce tasted really good and the chicken was great too. But what gives this low score is the staff attitude. When I finished eating and paying, I realized I wasn't local and handed over the previous person's bill of £45. I was embarrassed and said no, and then he apologized and calculated it as £25, but it didn't seem like a mistake. Any normal employee would know that what I ate wasn't worth £45, but what they held out while looking at the screen was an attempt to deceive me. It appears that the staff's attitude and different mindset from the original may have played a role in the lack of customers, which does not live up to its reputation. If you are a non-local traveler, I recommend going somewhere else as there are many other restaurants in the Baltic Triangle.

Had a good experience here last night. Service was attentive & whilst there was a delay in some of the food arriving, the boss came over with an additional dish for us to try , which was not sought by us, and this was delicious & a nice touch. The food was overall very good. The ‘Table Naan’ was impressive but let down by what appeared to be the use of margarine rather than ghee, which was the only complaint we have on the food. I would definitely recommend this place & would also definitely return.

Terrible food! You get more taste out of water than from a curry here

So I was at my friends house very hungry at midnight while he was sleeping and I was craving a decent lamb curry. So went on just eat and saw this place shebabs come up so was looking through the menu and was sold by the pictures and descriptions of the meals. Saw the prices which felt like London curry prices but I was locked in. Ordered lamb curry bhuna and lazeez fish kharai. So I saw the waiting time go from 30 to 59mins and after 10 mins I thought can I wait that long so cancelled. To find a closer place guess what I get a call from the restaurant saying how come you cancelled the food is on its way I explained why I did it! He said it’s made now and as you will get your refund back from just eat just pay our driver on our card machine. You don’t want to waste food So I felt a bit bad and he said they are a small business and will lose out. So I said fine I will pay your driver now the food came and I had to put the rice on a plate so I can taste both currys one by one! Not expecting too much when I took the first bite of the lamb curry with that egg fried rice I had a smile on my face that this is exactly what I was craving for and it tastes sooo good! So then I put half of the fish curry thinking even if this don’t taste good I don’t care because of how good the lamb curry was! To my excitement and bite the fish kharai was also sooo tasty and nice! That I had to come and put a review for this place which I normally never do! So thank you for the amazing food! Thankfully even tho I cancelled still got to not miss out on how amazing your food was.

The food was so disgusting, couldn’t even cut into the chicken. Wouldn’t even give it a 1 star and for the price of the food aswell absolutely outrageous. Don’t waste your money.

Visit if you want food poisoning! I went last year, and my entire family was ill afterwards. Terrible service too, made us wait 1hr 30mins between starter and main. Place is rowdy, full of English people drinking beer. It's not a nice place for a family.

Fabulous place - always busy, but they always find space for me!

Haven’t eaten here before but needless to say it won’t be the last. We ordered poppadums for the 4 of us and instead of the onion salad and sauce being separate they were put in a serving dish together. Yummy. We all ordered different meals in different strengths, nothing was a problem. Everything was served piping hot. I ordered the table naan bread and yes it did fill the table. Everything tasted gorgeous even the bread was so delicious and really light. The staff were good we didn’t get hassled. Just asked once if everything was all right and they left us alone. For what we ordered the bill was really reasonable. We went there to start our evening. The next time we go the meal will be the evening.

This is the place that made me understand what a good curry was! I'd suggest checking it out if you're in the neighborhood. Parking can be a pain... But it's well worth it!

A little underwhelmed after the good reviews and the Hairy Bikers thing , food was ok the best thing was the bread , really good garlic Naan , I was expecting more of a gravy style Balti but it was not at all , the chicken was thigh meat which was good but the sauce was just ok , my wife had a mixed grill again it was ok not much on it though , the place looked very tired but the staff were pleasant .

The portion of the food is fair for the price but I wouldn’t say it taste the best the curries are a bit salty and has too much of a herb taste more than tasting like a curry. I would recommend for people who like salty food.

Shababs is well known for his balti dishes, we had tried their balti paneer, dal fry and rice. Dal fry is fantastic but paneer is ok. Must visit once.

We came here for an authentic balti after reading the other positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Absolutely fantastic curry - one of the best I have ever had: fresh, delicious and just the right amount of heat. Next time in Birmingham, we will come here again. Highly, highly recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a good restaurant open at 4 AM in Birmingham, especially since I had an early meeting. The food was delicious, and it was a treat to finally try this famous Birmingham spot. However, I was initially planning on ordering delivery because of the early hour, but I was shocked to find that the menu prices on the delivery app were actually cheaper than dining in! This was confusing since I'm aware that delivery apps typically charge extra commissions. Additionally, I ordered pulao rice, but they brought boiling rice instead. The server presented it as "Here is the Pulao rice," which was quite confusing!! . Overall, a great experience with a curious pricing twist and a small hiccup with the order.

What can I say.. Shababs was a fantastic Balti house and one of the last original remaining In the balti triangle, the Chicken tikka started was tender and not at all dry which it sometimes can be. The lamb saag was flavoursome and right amount of spice, great staff and will return again... top marks and thank you..

I recently visited Shabab’s Restaurant on the Ladypool Road in Birmiingham with some friends from Oxford, and I have to say, it was one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this place is in serious need of a health inspection. First and foremost, I was horrified to see rats scurrying around in the kitchen. It's hard to enjoy your meal when you know there are rodents running around where your food is being prepared. To make matters worse, the way the meat was stored was utterly unsanitary. It looked like something out of a horror movie—definitely not the standard you would expect from any restaurant, let alone one that’s still in business. To top it all off, the owner was incredibly arrogant and dismissive when we brought our concerns to his attention. Rather than showing any concern for the health and safety of his customers, he shrugged off our complaints as if they were nothing. It was clear he had no regard for the dining experience or well-being of his patrons. Unfortunately, the aftermath of our visit was just as bad. All of us fell ill the next morning, a direct result of the appalling conditions we encountered at the restaurant. If you value your health and your dining experience, I strongly advise you to stay far away from Shabab’s. Save your money and your stomach—there are plenty of other places that actually care about their customers and maintain hygiene standards. Avoid this place unless you’re looking for a recipe for disaster! Really disappointed……

We wanted to eat at the Balti Triangle and we were absolutely right with the place. Spectacular food and very attentive service. We ordered chicken and lamb with rice and the naan. Highly highly recommended. Of course, it is far from the city center, we walked and it is a somewhat peculiar area very different from the rest.

First time I’ve ever left a review. Korma was green and soupy and masala fries were just cold chips in an open day in the bag. We also had a mixed grill which was cold watery meat. Thought we’d give them a go but not again.

ordered at 6.03 for a delivery window between 6.45 and 7.00, at 7.05 the just eat delivery updates to deliver and enjoy your food even though it had not been delivered. phoned the shop was told that its on the way, 20 minutes later still no food, phone again told the driver is 4 minutes away.food turns up , chips delivers in a tray and cold.

The food was very cold on delivery considering it had recently left the shop, it had to be reheated which wasn't very nice. The chocolate barfi we ordered had melted every where so we had to throw it away 😭 ... Delivery was a little late however when I called the restaurant the guy I spoke to was very polite.

Popadoms were greasy, rice was awful and the chicken was cold

main meals, ingredients and flavour good. Let down by lack of poppadoms, cold chewy chips and a rock hard nan bread. Asked for cauliflower without potatoes, not received. Actual meals worth buying again.

My order was late by half hour my food was cold I had to reheat it up, I called the restaurant 3 times after it was shown on the just eat app it was delivered but it was not….my son who is autistic had to eat his food late it was ordered around 9.30pm but arrived at 11.00pm I would like a full refund for the hassle you have caused me.. I’m a unhappy customer also when I phoned the restaurant they said they had only one driver

The food was good, which is why I’ve ordered from this takeaway before. However, this time will be my last. I placed my order at 2pm and the items did not arrive until 4pm. There was no update provided in the meantime regarding the delay, which I find completely unacceptable. While the food quality remains good, the delivery time was appalling. To make matters worse, no goodwill gesture was offered, such as a refund of the delivery charge. I won’t be ordering again.

Havnt been back for a while good as ever consistently good food, not a complaint wish the nanns were slightly bigger, Balti dishes are never floating in oil balance of spice and flavour is just sublime, been eating Baltis for 40years and this place is one of the best keep doing what your doing if it’s broke don’t fix it like some have tried and failed 👍🏻

If you want a traditional balti cooked and served in its own pan, this is the place to go. There are many other balti restaurants nearby, but after trying most of them in the last 20 - 30 yrs, Shebabs has come out on top for me. The Balti menu is extensive, but I have found the balti chicken mushroom & spinach to be the most flavourful, but the other options are great too👍. Oh, by the way, bring your own booze to this place as it does not serve alcohol.

We had an awful experience and it was entirely due to the manager’s behavior😤.It was clear they had no interest in customer service or professionalism. What made it worse was how they treated their own employees yelling at the servers in front of customers and making everyone visibly uncomfortable. A good manager should lead by example, but this person clearly has no idea how to handle customers, staff, or even basic responsibilities. If this is the leadership, I can only imagine how miserable it must be to work here. We won’t be coming back, and I’d recommend avoiding this place until they find someone who actually knows how to manage a restaurant.

Hice un poco de investigación sobre las casas de curry antes de mi fin de semana largo en Birmingham y me encontré con shababs con algunas buenas críticas sólidas escritas. Se encuentra en el famoso triángulo de Balti y este lugar ha resistido la prueba del tiempo desde 1987. No quedan muchas de las casas Balti originales en el triángulo. Vine con mi esposa, hijo, hija, cuñado y cuñada y mi sobrino y su novia. El restaurante no es grande, pero es cómodo y nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y el personal era atento cuando era necesario. Todos tuvimos varios entrantes y se acordó que todos los disfrutaron. Tuve que elegir un Balti famoso y opté por uno de cordero y me gustó mucho y estaba lleno de sabor y era la cantidad correcta de especias para mi paleta. Optamos por dos de los Nan’s de mesa para los ocho y nunca antes había visto panes Nan tan grandes, son enormes y eran más que suficientes para todos nosotros. Probaron mantequilla y no estaban demasiado cocinados. Los precios me parecieron razonables y no tuvimos ninguna queja sobre la noche. Nos divertimos mucho y tuvimos una gran experiencia.

For me one of the best Indian food places in Birmingham. The waiters are very friendly and help you choose based on your preferences. The establishment does not sell alcohol but you can bring it from home or buy it at a nearby store. The account is for 6 people.

Food very good. Think the balti bowls we had needed scraping. I realise balti bowls have to be seasond as I have some myself but there was baked on food on ours. The glass on the tables need to be taken off and cleaned on the underneath also the seating and floor needed a deep clean would recommend the food

we rarely leave reviews on Just Eat but this was the best curry we've had in a very long time. seasoned perfectly, amazing quality, big portions. My biryani will last another two meals! My husband's naan was perfection. Lamb Handi incredible. Chicken Pakora was small but perfectly flavored. Can't wait to eat here again. Probably in person.

Lovely food, friendly delivery

Brillante casa Balti. Vinimos por algo de comida antes de un concierto. Aunque ocupados, nos sirvieron rápidamente como solicitado. El personal es muy amable y atento y un gran ambiente. Tenía carne y espinacas y un pollo balti. Las abuelas eran increíbles. Sabor increíble, gran mezcla de especias y texturas. Sería un visitante semanal si viviera en Birmingham.
