I recently visited this restaurant in Birmingham, and I must say, I’m thoroughly disappointed. As someone hailing from Kashmir, I take pride in my culinary heritage, so I was quite taken aback when I saw their Rogan Josh being labeled as a "Lucknowi dish" on the menu. This is a glaring error! Rogan Josh is, in fact, a signature dish of Kashmiri cuisine, not Lucknowi. The fact that the restaurant misrepresents this fundamental aspect of Kashmiri food left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. The lack of knowledge about the dish’s true origins suggests a lack of respect for the cultural significance and authenticity of the cuisine. As a diner who values genuine, informed culinary experiences, I expected better from a place that claims to offer quality regional dishes. It’s not just about the food; it’s about the education and understanding behind it. To anyone considering this place, I’d advise caution if you’re looking for an authentic culinary experience. If they can’t even get something as fundamental as Rogan Josh right, I’m skeptical about the rest of their menu. Hopefully, they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary corrections.

As always Asha’s didn’t fail to impress. Very friendly and professional staff - prompt service and very attentive. The food was just incredible as always. I highly recommend the chicken keema which is the best dish I have tasted anywhere. I had to order an extra portion to take away…. In fact I always do as it’s so delicious. The rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed their food too and I was surprised by the staff with a lovely birthday cake at the end of the meal. Thank you again Asha’s for yet another special birthday meal. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I visited for a birthday meal. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was fabulous. The service was excellent even to the point of - unasked - taking back the chai my wife ordered as she had stepped away from the table and bringing a fresh one when she returned to the table. We paid for the meal and then the waitress arrived with a plate with a generous slice of cake and ;happy birthday' beautifully piped in chocolate on the plate. Portions were generous and the main with rice and naan was all we ate that day. After visiting Asha's everywhere else pales into 'if you want'.

Describes itself as fine dining...No it is not. Very average at a premium price for Indian food, there are far better places in the city. Service was slow and incompetent. ( waitress split some table water, apologised, but did come back to wipe it up!) Food was certainly not at a 'fine dining' standard. Wine was as expected for the price point. Will vote with my feet & wallet and not return.

The food fell far short of what we expected from a Michelin-recommended restaurant, leaving us quite disappointed. We had the four-course Valentine’s Day menu, which wasn’t cheap, but the quality was surprisingly poor. I ordered the fish curry, and my partner had the lamb dish. The fish was overly sour and salty, with no depth of flavor. The lamb was dry and tough, and both the starter and main course tasted almost the same. Overall, the dishes felt a bit greasy and lacked variety in texture and seasoning. To top it off, the chocolate dessert was overwhelmingly sweet, making the experience even more underwhelming. The service was good, a lovely lady who served us was probably the only highlight of that valentines meal.

The staff is very unprofessional, we went with our friend to have birthday dinner celebration, they gave us very small table in the middle hardly the size of my forearm , then we ordered platter and they charged 44£ and only 4-5 pieces of chicken and prawn that too very cold and at the end they charged 10% discretionary service charge which I saw first time on the bill of 153£ which they charged 168£ , then I asked them to take it off and the staff took off with a very cunning smile , and they lied us all tables are booked and we were there for 2 hours but none of them turned till 10.30pm and they were keeping in small table just to be thinking ordinary guest . They are only milking the customers by show off the pictures of celebrities visiting their restaurant which makes them big headed, the manager never bothered to greet us . I would never go to such restaurant with such third class food.

We visited this restaurant on Valentine’s Day and, unfortunately, the experience felt quite rushed. The service was overly fast-paced, with each course arriving almost immediately after the previous one, leaving little time to enjoy the meal. While the food itself was not bad, it did not meet the standards of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The dishes felt mass-produced rather than carefully crafted, and the overall experience seemed focused on serving as many guests as possible rather than delivering a refined dining experience. The butter chicken lacked depth of flavor and tasted predominantly of cream, while the dessert was uninspired—more akin to a store-bought chocolate bar with mismatched fruit components. It was clear that the menu was assembled for efficiency rather than culinary excellence. Given our frequent dining experiences at Michelin-starred establishments, we had high expectations, but unfortunately, the service and food quality did not align with that level of prestige. While we appreciate the effort to accommodate guests on a busy occasion, the execution fell short, and we would not be inclined to return or recommend it based on this experience.

We visited Asha's for our anniversary dinner with family(Husband & Kids), and it turned out to be a memorable evening. Food: The food was phenomenal, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. Each dish was crafted with care and exceptional taste. Ambience: The decor was nice and quiet, providing a cozy atmosphere perfect for a family celebration. Drinks: The drinks were very fancy, adding an extra touch of elegance to our evening. Special Touch: A delightful surprise was the slice of cake with an anniversary message, which added a personal and thoughtful touch to our celebration. Overall: While the decor could be a bit more impressive, the excellent food, fancy drinks, and thoughtful gestures more than made up for it. I will recommend Asha's and look forward to visiting again.

First off its £25 for a Rogan Josh. so I'm expecting something spectacular. It was a very basic curry, I'll say southern style, so 6 lumps of lamb in a very spicy hot curry gravy, but the type of heat that isn't subtle, just raw heat if you know what I mean. Very disappointing. If it was normal prices, I'd still give ot a 1 for food. Place was fine and service ok .. overall a 2 ...

Overall, my experience at Asha’s was extremely disappointing. We booked a private room for a group of 10, with a set menu costing around £61 per person, totaling over £600. What left me truly frustrated and upset was the fact that we were not allowed to take home the food we hadn’t eaten. Despite there being a huge amount of leftovers, we were told it wasn’t permitted because it was a set menu. It’s shocking and wasteful that they would rather throw perfectly good food away than let us take it home. For the price we paid, this felt completely unreasonable and left a very sour taste to an already underwhelming experience.

Very nice restaurant, service was good, the waiter was very nice. The food was good, The Padpadi Chaat was ok (expensive for what it was), the sev were fresh and phulla was nice too. The Aloo Tikki was very very good, for mains we had Kadrai Paneer tasted lovely asked for spicy (wasn’t so spicy) but the sauce was absolutely lovely tasting with large chunks of paneer and Chicken Chettinadu again a lovely dish, cheese naan was very good and tandoori roti. The kids had fries which were not on the menu and a Trio of Ice Creams. The chocolate ice cream was amazing! It’s nice inside however, I feel the food was very good but seemed like something was missing and quite expensive! Presentation of all the dishes was very good. £124 including one Lassi and One Diet Coke.

Everything was superb except the tarka daal which was dry and overcooked.

Amazing food and service. The butter chicken is the best I've ever tasted. It's both spicy and sweet and that's quite wonderful. Sadly the furniture, tables, and crockery would benefit from an update.

cocktails were nice but the price was a little high for me personally (£12.75 for the cheapest). I think for other people these prices wouldnt be as bad, but for me it felt a little much for one cocktail (i got a mojito). two of the staff members were a little rude to us, however they were quite busy so that might be why. But one of the staff members were absolutely lovely to us.

Ashas was a lovely restaurant with very high quality food and sophisticated decor. Perfect for a special occasion without being fussy. Plenty of partially concealed tables which were well spaced out, and they were very welcoming to our young child. It was nice to go and see why it is so popular in Brum. It is quite expensive, but it's a higher quality than your standard curry house with large portions. Look on the First table app as they often have a table available for a 5.30pm sitting which gives you 50% off your food bill if you pay £6 for your reservation, and took a welcome £40 off for us.

Second time here, met up with friends, food was ok, service and staff were excellent, over priced for food...

Dining experience was the afternoon tea at Asha’s in Birmingham. Handful of teas available, was surprised that you could only get a refill of your original selection of tea and you had to pay extra for the iced tea. Tandoori masala tea was cold and it didn’t go down too well when asked for the refill to be hot !! Service wasn’t what I would have expected from this restaurant. The only thing positive I would add is the food, both the savoury and sweet options available were tasty and very enjoyable with the vegetarian choice being the better option.

This restaurant has a really good reputation. It's perfectly positioned just off colmore row. Decor and ambience are all high end. Service is perfect. Prices are more than other Indian restaurants but ashas is known for being better than the others anyway. So slightly higher prices expected. I really liked it. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants around.

We have been before and this time was a little disappointing with the food quality. I didn’t know this until I got home but we got over charged for having more drinks than we had and the service charge was not removed. Disappointing experience.

Very very expensive since the prices have been hiked up. The food is nice but the prices are insanely high for Indian food. Since Tom cruise has visited I expect they think they can charge through the nose. They also added service charge on top of the high prices as well as unknown charity donation.

Excellent staff but ridiculously overpriced. £25 for a main dish and then nearly £9 for rice?? London restaurants would not have the temerity to charge so much. Living on reputation and social media hype I guess.

Food was absolutely terrible. Worst mixed grill I have ever had. Ordered a baby cow mixed grill, and the Meat tasted reheated from days before and was still pink inside. The lamb kebab was rock solid. The chilli chips came cold with no taste of potato as it was fried to misery, with no sauce on, just a red batter, thats tasted like it was made the day before. No difference between the normal chips Food was absolutely terrible. Worst mixed grill I have ever had. No difference between the normal chips. Cheese naan, came with virtually no cheese in. Dissapointed paying more for essentially a plain naan. Would have been better off going to soho tavern, or the grove, where the food tastes miles better. Ordered a coke, and recieved a diet pepsi, with no word from the bartender that he had changed my order.. Cheese naan, came with virtually no cheese in. Avoid this ‘place’ with a 10 foot pole.

Been coming here for years, turned up tonight and a very rude man was dismissive and said there was a 25 mins wait, which was fine. He kept changing the time so we decided to go somewhere else, as we left another waiter tried to stop us, physically grabbing and squeezing my wrist, very wrong and surreal. After 12 years will not go there again
