Tuve una comida encantadora aquí. El restaurante es barato y alegre. El personal era educado pero sin interés. La comida estuvo muy buena. Barato y alegre.

Under new management: place seems cleaner and more organised. The chefs are part of the management, and the quality of the food has gone touch higher. The food is full of flavour and value for money. The service is much better. Their food has less ghee and cream, yet full of aromatic flavours.

This restaurant reminds me of an Indian Taba (motor services). If you've ever had food from a Taba, it is exceptionally good, which can also be said about Domain. The flavors, spices and quality are perfect. Domain is also very cheap. Negatives though are plentiful, the seating arrangement is poor, so be prepared to wait. When you do get to sit, expect a wobbly chair, a dirty table, a menu which not been wiped since the year 2000 and to top it off, I don't think the owner can speak English. The list can honestly go on. My advice is to go try the food before health/cleanliness services close it down.

I don't care what the table service or the wait is like the guy who runs it doesn't really need that many customers and gets a bit fed up so you may as well get used to it because these people cater in a big hall a couple of miles away and cook delicious catering event Indian food and have done for months and months if not years and they advertise in the Desi food chain shops the pink ones which is why my Dad always came back to eat here, and why my Mum and I still do the same. If you really want to know what the service is like ask for something specific and watch them find it somewhere for you. Like achaar etc. Also the food is cooked fresh and they do not use packet garam massalla I can promise you. Fresh whole Indian spices. Yum Yum. Which is why when I get paid my Carer's Allowance on a Monday these days I say to Mum let's eat out and we tend to end up here so far about once a month.

Visited with family member and we had the whole place to ourselves! Ordered chilli paneer and daal makhni with methi parathas. The chilli paneer was awesome, crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, very moreish. Daal was very tasty and parathas, albeit good, with lots of fresh methi, sadly, not like my mamma's methi wala parathi, which comprise of many crispy layers and lashings of butter (after all that is what a paratha is all about!!); Domain's paratha is much less buttery, similar to a filled chappati with one side buttered only, probably better for the waistline. Service was swift and so was arrival of food. Total bill came to £14 for 2 and we had left over paneer, daal and paratha, which the lady very kindly put in takeaway containers. Unsurprisingly, this place is packed to the rafters in the evening and weekends. Will definitely recommend and visit again.

The mixed grill was of good quality but there were only 2 small pieces of kebab, chicken tikka, lamb chops. There were no chiicken wings etc so a bit disappointed at 8quid although the flavours were bang on. Keema naan spot on too. Ive been told the butter chicken is great but ill try it next time. You can taken your own soft drinks and your own alcohol which is even better and the offie is 6shops to the left. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the curries on that menu. Have been here several times from across the other side of Brum as the meat is non-halal and dishes taste great! Decor is basic and it's run quite well even at busy times. Don't expect a 4* sitting experience, but do expect great tasting Indian dishes at a good price. We sometimes grab a takeaway after visiting local shops and the food is just as good as it is when eating there. Bring you own drinks. Another great place for Thali food at a very reasonable price. It's not posh, although they have recently changed to bigger chairs, it's not luxurious. It's just yummy Indian food. Chat papri, saag paneer my goodness very good spices, and proper portions. The staff are undervalued because they can't afford too many. Obviously. They are surrounded by Indian sweets shops. Tonnes of competition. Good food at a good price.

I am shocked at the reviews - I have been living in a different country for many years and always love visiting England for its lovely food of many cultures - One of my family members recommended this place so I decided to visit it with friends - However the service was very bad and the waiting staff and manager for some reason were very slow. I waited half an hour for a drink which I had asked for many times. People say it is good value but its not, as you waste your money eating food that tastes less than average and there are many better restaurants I could have gone to nearby. I wasn't happy about the service hence why the long review as it was not pleasant having grumpy waiters serving you less than average quality food. This was the worst restaurant I had been to on my holiday here in England last year.

We (I, my wife and 2 daughters aged 5 and 1) were invited to a group booking as it was my cousin sister's 18th Birthday Celebrations. As we entered we encountered an upset couple that were leaving and their exact words were 'Good luck in getting served'.(bearing in mind the place did not even looked overly packed) At the time I didn't think much as my uncle had booked a few tables adjoined together. However, we were waiting to be escorted but no one came to welcome us, so we just carried on and walked till we found our table. Now this is the pointed where I started to get hot and bothered. As we were all chatting away looking at the menu, not one staff member had approached us to ask us what we wanted to drink. It was quite hot in there. There wasn't even water jugs on the tables. Waiter finally arrives, and does not even apologise for keeping us all waiting. The 1st thing I ordered were drinks for myself and my family and for fresh water, and we all also placed orders for food.As we were chatting away my kids started to get agitated in the heat, my wife kept asking me when the drinks were coming, this was getting really annoying now. The starters arrive and still no drinks. I asked the serving waiter what is happening with the drinks, and he just said I will ask and get back to us. My kids were crying at this point as it was really hot. My brother and aunt approached the manager and asked what was happening and the manager just looked at them in mysterious mode and responded that he thought that we were bringing our own drinks. Honestly the service was ridiculous, and staff were rude and clueless. When the drinks arrived they didn't even bring all the drinks we asked for including my children's drinks it was just plain stupid.Going to the food. There was some munchurian that didn't taste bad. but a lot of the vegetarian food I encountered on our table had a lot of dairy ie paneer etc in it, there was one sabji that was nice. Its an okay menu for lacto vegetarians but not great for vegans. Also they do not serve Roti, they only serve Naan, which is pathetic for an Indian restaurant.Overall not a great experience

I came here while spending a week working on Soho Road. The decor of Domain looks lovely which is why it was the first restaurant I visited on Soho Road - one thing that struck me after the reviews was that some people were saying it is the 'best Indian restaurant they had been to in Birmingham' however this restaurant doesn't even have a full Indian menu - The thing that really disappointed me was that when I asked for Chappati I was told that they don't serve chappatis, they only serve the naans (which I don't like as they are very fattening!) and Naan's disguise and block the taste and texture of the daals and sabjis that I like eating. I am from China but I know quite a bit about Indian food as I visit a lot of restaurants with my mum (She is Nepali and has many Indian relatives, and is herself a great Indian cook).I wasn't expecting anything great at Domain but even the basic dishes weren't as fantastic as they could have been because the overpowering naan, and this restaurant didn't serve chappatis which is a common Indian bread all over India. The other thing that struck me was the restaurant was not very busy so they should have served me faster, but they took a long long time and I had to remind them what drinks I had ordered, more than a few times. The person serving me was very snappy and rude, it was like it was a problem for him everytime I reminded him.Considering the competition of where Domain is situated on Soho Road, there are three very popular restaurants/eateries all just meters away from Domain, all of which I visited that week and they all offered a very tasty full Indian Menu with great customer service. Domain offered nothing of that sort. The customer service needs to be drastically improved here (One of the reasons I am giving it such a low score) and maybe a second look at the menu by it's management to see what the competing restaurants are offering just within walking distance of it.

we went tonight with work colleagues. the decor is nice, quite trendy and modern. Nobody welcomed us or came to talk to us, they just pointed where we had to go. Had to ask for drinks, there was no interaction from the staff, we could tell they were rude from the first second. There were some good options for the food, meat, fish and vegetarian. Nice daal and paneer, very tasty. Good selection of vegetables, everybody was happy. The prices are reasonable even in the a la carte menu. Shame for the effortless staff who ruined the experience

I visited this place when I returned to Birmingham for a week for an assignment - I've eaten Indian food in many countries and many restaurants in India, UK, France, USA etc The food at Domain was nothing to shout home about, it was average and in terms of the other restaurants I visited that same week (Chandni Chowk, London Sweet Centre and Nakodar etc) this restaurant's food quality could not compete with them. Even in terms of pricing it can't compete with say London Sweet Centre which offered a very tasty meal thali for literally the same price. I don't normally give restaurants a two star rating unless something is very wrong - Let me just say that the customer service was not very kind here.

I happened on this place by accident whilst looking for a Caribbean restaurant .Went in not knowing what to expect. We ordered a ladies & gent thali( vegetarian & meat). You get a selection of 7 dishes including rice , yogurt, a lamb rogan josh , chicken tikka, a couple of vegetarian dishes, a dessert & fluffy nan!!All for £4.99!!!It was the tastiest ,freshest Indian food I'd ever had. I've been going back for the last 2 years. Tried so much on the menu, all amazingly tasty. The service by the waiter from Nepal is always courteous .We've seen people take alcohol in which is always going to be cheaper. You get water or there's a selection of exotic juices & fizzy drinks. In a town full of Indian restaurants including Lassan I really recommend this place.

I have been to this restaurant at least 3x already which is quite a lot for me as I don't go very often.Normally I just go for 'max value' meal, in this case the (vegetarian) Maharani Thali, and having had it it was delicious and very good value for £4.99, 2 veg curries, daal, rice, yoghurt, naan, sweet, stuffed and satisfied! Then I went again and my parents wanted to try some of their other mains - very delicious! Pleasantly surprised. This time it was their chaat specialities.Yesterday we went for an early 'Father's Day' celebration, and I just wanted proper Indian food (our family's from India) and had Paneer Chana with Paneer Kulcha. It was perfect. I left very happy. My parents had a yoghurt drink - Lassi, it was really yum.For good portions, genuine Indian food, at good prices, where you can also wander round the shops and buy anything and everything Asian, a good place to have a YUM lunch/dinner Domain's would be hard to beat. Highly recommended.

I came here a couple of times and the food while it is nice, it isn't to the standards of the competition next door (Chandni Chowk) it's certainly not of the excellent standards of Nakodar which is just across the road from it . The worst thing however was the service one night, when a friend of mine booked this place for a party, when we arrived there was around 10 of us with family, we asked for soft drinks and the manager looked at us and questioned us "Didn't you bring your own?" We had to ask 3 times for drinks and the place wasn't even busy - okay so you serve decent food but why not have good customer service and look after your customers? As a customer if I don't get decent service I won't come back and I certainly won't recommend it either.

Absolute bargain, the food and service were good as well. There was the five us, we went straight for the main meals and decided to have Popadums whilst we waited for our main meal as we weren't having any starters, we had to remind the waiter to bring the popadoms and things were put right straight away. I always find if things ain't going to plan best to ask straight away rather than wait till the end.For the mains came we had two butter Chicken dishes, two plain rices, one balti chicken, one chicken noodle and two butter naans. All the food came at the same time perfectly cooked, although the balti chicken lacked onions, green peppers and lacked a bit of taste, not the worst or the best I have ever had.I asked for some fresh onions and fresh green chilli's, these came straight away and an ample portion. We managed to finish most of our meals and chose not to have any desserts, as there is an Indian sweet shop opposite where we were planning on going afterwards to get some galub jamuns. The bill was a very pleasant surprise at £32.30, it seemed like Christmas had come a little earlier this year. I paid the bill and went home to enjoy some galub jamuns.

Service was poor. Unattentive staff poorly trained and lacking moral. Would definitely give it a miss next time. Avoid at all costs.

Very disappointing experience. Joined friends for a meal. I ordered tandoori fish, my meal arrived late, had obviously been forgotten. Was served with 4 chunks of white fish with a red something drizzled on top, salt granules and a few strips of lettuce. Was dreadful, could not eat it. There was only one waiter, service was slow and portions small. Would not go back.
