This was the nearest pub to our campsite so seemed a good choice for us to have Sunday lunch. The first thing that hits you is the old/stale smell as you walk in. Yes, it’s obviously a very old pub, its layout and decor is very 70s. When we arrived the lady on duty was very friendly and welcoming. We got drinks and had a look at the menu which didn’t inspire. Plus we felt the prices were quite high so we moved on! Shame really, this place needs to move with the times!

Our family group covers four generations, there are meals to suit all tastes. Great menu, lots of choice. Specials are just that, definitely not your ordinary pub grub. Staff are lovely and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. The food is excellent value for money.

Having waited for an hour for our food to be served, we were mortified to be presented with frozen fish, chips and peas. The food was definitely not home made. The Ploughman’s lunch was sparse and had no meat or pork pie on it. The drinks came to £14 which consisted of two lemonades, one coke and one half a larger! The pub is very dated and smelt damp.

Visited at the weekend and even though we had booked a table we were an hour and a half early. Margaret greeted us and eating earlier was no problem. Myself and partner had fillet steaks, perfectly cooked and all for just £16.95 each. I could not fault the service or the food, so will definitely visit again. Many thanks ☆☆☆☆☆

Traditional type of pub, serving the old favourites like pie & chips, chicken & chips, etc but the chef also does several Persian specials. The prices are excellent and the food is cooked well and is tasty.Best price for a fillet steak that I can find and it's cooked properly (I have mine rare).Staff are very friendly.Well worth a visit.

Food ok, average pub grub, not a huge selection of beers etc, but ok. Prices were mid range, and pub could do with updating. Very old feel, but not quaint, more tired and dated. Budget eats, certainly not for a special occasion, more pensioner outing

Had a lovely lunch here following a short walk up to Mow Cop Castle. I had a Persian Lamb dish which was delicious. For four of us with drinks, mains, sweets and coffee, the quantity and value for money was exceptional. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again.

Booked in here for my step mums birthday tea. We called ahead to make sure we could have Persian food as we read mixed reviews in terms to the times they serve it. Lady was lovely and made sure they saved enough for us. It was lovely we all enjoyed it and even my toddler tried some of all our dishes and enjoyed it. We met the chef too who is Iranian and we had a lovely conversation and it was a warm and lovely atmosphere we will definitely return.

Step back to a pub that believes in good food and a pleasant if rural atmosphere and the Mow Cop Inn fits the bill. Service is friendly and quick even for a party of eight of us for Sunday Lunch. This pub only opens three days a week but its reputation is excellent, food superb and atmosphere brilliant. No pounding pop music to disturb the pleasant ambiance and possibly not for younger people unless children with adults. Good selection of ales on offer along with a goodly collection of shorts. So if at a weekend you need a break on the way up (or down) from the Castle call in, and you will be pleasantly surprised. We were.

This is a delightful country Inn off the beaten track but not too far. The Persian menu is excellent and I should know as I have tried all they have to offer, they also do excellent steaks and other meals to suit everyone. They also do roasts on Sunday, lamb or beef and the vegetables are cooked so you can taste them and are not mushy like some places. It is a family friendly pub which can be packed or just comfortable but it only opens on Friday to Sunday also bank holidays. I must tell you I go every week if i am able as I like it that much.

Travelling through the area, looking for somewhere to eat, came across this pub. For a Saturday lunchtime it was amazingly quiet, which was worrying. However, we received a warm welcome; drinks were fine except being a part time pub, didn't have everything on tap, but we were there for the food. All meals (6) arrived well prepared and presented with fresh salads, warmed bread rolls, etc. Suspect everything (apart from salads) had come from freezer, but it didn't matter.A very enjoyable lunch. Thank you.

Every so often we call into this pub for a delicious 'proper' roast dinner. The food is first class with the lamb being our favourite!Being a bit of a traditionalist I usually go for the homemade apple and berry crumble with custard. The staff are friendly and pleasant, always making us feel welcome. We will no doubt be back again in a few weeks.

Got in asked for table Got drinks nothing was explained about ordering system !!! Had to go back up to ask for menus !! Ended up looking on line as no kids menu in it ... Ordered at bar as no one came to us !! When she did take my ordered she disappeared and started taking food out ... Had a chat with someone then came back to take rest of my order. Food arrived had to then wait for cutlery, food !! there was no love gone into making it !! Looked like it had been chucked on the plate , roast dinner was fresh from frozen potatoes .Didnt touch the veg as it looked like it was days old meat was dry and horrible !! If that had been the first time I tasted lamb I would never eat it again ... Fish was over cooked again fresh from frozen... They took are plates didn't even ask how are meal was ...when we left no one said goodbye it broke my heart having to pay so much for the worlds worst meal ... It wasn't even busy in there avoid avoid avoid ...

Visiting family in Staffordshire this local pub had a good selection to please everyone. We chose from the specials board - Horesh Esfenach was a Persian style chicken dish with tomatoes and spinach served with rice. Others in the party had lasagna and chicken cordon bleu which came with chips. Wine was reasonably priced - we chose a pinot grigio. Simple food, nicely cooked and very pleasant, efficient service. I think food is only served at weekends so best to check.

Excellent meal, we went on Saturday Night. What a change to see something very different on the Specials Board.I had a chicken dish with spinach, tomatoes and orange juice - excuse my ignorance I cannot remember what is was called, it was delicious, the chicken was so tender, You can tell how good the food was all 4 of use cleared our plates completley - and the portions were more than generous, we did have to wait a little while but then thats what you have to do if you want "cooked fresh" foodWould recommend this pub, excellent, bit of a treck to get there - especially when you don't come from round there ..... think it may have been our friends taking us on a mystry tour...

The gay person that answers the calls needs a new job maybe working in a dessert shop isnt for you, try something different like ann summers? You clearly have no customer service skills. Rude!

Really appalled at the customer service tonight, used Kings before and would have recommended to anyone, not anymore. Made out to be a liar that they had knocked on my door they definitely hadn’t because we were literally right next to it and in the window. The driver explained he’d gone to the wrong house to me when he came back to deliver, the guy on the phone at kings needs to learn to tell the truth. Said he couldn’t refund me because the food was already cooked, don’t see how that’s my problem! Won’t be ordering from here again now.. doesn’t give you the option to reply. You’ve been my house for years, your driver went the wrong house, your problem!
