Great seafood and fantastic team.

Tonight (22/01/25) I had the pleasure of dining at Mourne, a delightful seafood restaurant in Belfast, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! As visitors from London, we were eager to explore the local culinary scene, and Mourne did not disappoint. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor beautifully reflects the coastal charm of the region, setting the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Now, let’s talk about the food – it was absolutely top notch! Each dish showcased the freshest seafood, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. We sampled a variety of offerings, and every bite was bursting with flavor. The highlight for me was the Hake, which was cooked to perfection and paired with seasonal sides that complemented the dish beautifully. The wine selection was impressive as well, with knowledgeable staff on hand to recommend the perfect pairing for our meal. It truly elevated our dining experience. Overall, Mourne exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a lovely ambiance made for a truly memorable evening. We left feeling satisfied and excited to share our experience with friends back home. We can’t wait for our next visit to Belfast, as Mourne will definitely be at the top of our list. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy top-quality seafood in a fantastic setting!

We chose Mourne because we were looking for a light dinner after days of celebrations. Because of that we intentionally stayed away from certain dishes that would have probably been very tasty and that are often named in reviews. We were hoping instead to start with oysters, which apparently they do extremely well. Unfortunately when we got in they told us they were all out of them. Understandable as it was early days of the year, but also a bit of a bummer for someone who chose that place also because of that specialty. Starters were nice and abundant. We loved that the menu offered a full seabream, a true rarity in Ireland where fish is almost always served filleted. We found the fish well cooked but also not particularly tasty. I don't think the choice of cooking it in tomato sauce improved the experience. The staff was super friendly and we had a few laughs. A shame that the part of the restaurant where they put us was absolutely empty and felt a bit cold.

I’ve been to this restaurant a couple of times and, honestly, the food is good. But one thing I’m curious about is why they don’t tell you upfront that they include the tip on the bill without asking? I mean, it’s not just a pound or two – in my case, it was £12 or more! That’s not the kind of tip I’d leave for what was just a standard level of service. They really should inform customers or let them decide what to leave as a tip. There’s no law saying tipping is mandatory. It should be up to the customer to decide, not added on sneakily. Not everyone notices, and people end up paying without realizing. It’s not right. Just be upfront with your customers!

Perfect service, everything lifted and laid with great timing, glass always full of water. Food was amazing, had a Guinness, crab and sourdough starter, cod and chips, sticky toffee pudding and a coffee. All fantastic. Highly recommend.

No comment, don't drink wine by the glass...

Very nice place with great seafood. The crab-celeriac remoulade on sourdough bread was delicious and so was the soya-glazed coley. Great range of wine and beer, even the tap water was good (which is most often not the case in Belfast). The service is adorable and efficient. A little bit pricey but the products are great quality and I would definetely go there again and would recommend it to any person visiting Belfast.

Hands down the best seafood I have ever had… they’ve got this absolutely right.. Bloody Mary Oyser shots, calamari, chowder, mussels, Goan prawns… these are their absolute best!

We visited this seafood restaurant after hearing so much about it — a must-visit spot, and with its emphasis on punctuality & time limit when we made reservations, we expected something special. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing and felt overrated: Food - We came in with high expectations due to the glowing reviews but left feeling let down. The dishes we ordered seemed premade and reheated, lacking the authentic flavours and freshness one would expect from a renowned seafood restaurant. Perhaps this was because it was lunch set, but we believe a restaurant with such a reputation should maintain high standards across all their offerings. Even the fresh oysters we tried were just average—not bad, but certainly not memorable. Price - definitely on the higher side, and we found it overpriced given the small portions. On top of that, the 20% tax and 10% gratuity fees added significantly to the bill, so it’s sth to be mindful of Service and atmosphere - on the positive note, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. They served us water promptly and were attentive throughout the meal. Overall, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. We were hoping for a standout seafood dining experience here but were left disappointed.

Nan Chi! Hold it in! ! Hold the hall and laugh at Uncle Hong and Hammer Peng! ! Taitama is spicy. The quality and taste of food does not deserve the price. Very memorable experience.

If sitting near door it can be draughty

If it’s seafood you’re looking for while in Belfast, this is the place to get it. Went twice while in Belfast and absolutely loved it. Definitely try the seafood casserole. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area.

I recommend this fish restaurant for dinner when in Belfast. The seafood is cooked to perfection, as well as a good selection of desserts.

I visited the Belfast location during my recent stay while on a group tour and was glad I learned of this place. No surprise it was hopping on a Saturday night so was glad to snag a table upstairs. I chose a lighter dinner with their mussels and a nice glass of Chenin Blanc. Service was good yet the staff were busy due to being packed. I wouldn't hesitate to go again if in the area.

The seafood casserole is off the charts good and the mussels (dinner) serving with chips will challenge the heartiest of appetites. Very good restaurant.

They have a fish shop so I didn’t dine in but just picked up some oysters from the fishmonger, they were very fresh and delicious. They also had lots of fresh fish already cleaned and prepped ready to cook and other seafood and shellfish. Highly recommend. The staff were lovely. The fish shop is open on Tuesday-Friday from around 10am-4pm

I had high expectations based on the Google reviews, and while the food overall was average, I highly recommend the mussels and seabass. The wine and atmosphere were good, but it didn’t quite meet what I was hoping for.

Visit on Sep 29, 2024 Great seafood place in the heart of Belfast Fresh fish, warm service, the lighting could be brighter though One of the best fish and chips, very flaky, crispy dough, airy enough. The mussels are to die for, salty brine and light cream. Clam chowder is on thick consistency type, very filling

Somewhere I would highly recommend any traveller to Belfast make the time to visit. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about their menu and took their time understanding your needs. Food was of the highest quality, excellent oysters, well presented and the beef was amongst the tenderest I've experienced anywhere.

Get the scallop and chorizo risotto! Ot was delicious!

Belfast is of course a sea town and you can expect to find amazing seafood here. This was a stop on the Belfast food tour. A simple pair of oysters, locally harvested this morning and shucked just before consumption, this was delicious. An absolutely perfect snack and I will need to return to see what else we have for a meal here later.

Service was quick and efficient, staff are professional and friendly enough. Food is not what I expected it to be. I was a little disappointed but then perhaps my expectations were too high. Would probably go again, but wouldn't rush to return at the same time.

Great seafood restaurant in the heart of Belfast. Book your table for having dinner on weekends. Delicious food, fair prices and a friendly service. I sat in front of the cooking area so it's been a warm place but I've seen people with jackets on. Maybe @Mournes you could turn on the heater :-) We will definitely come back!

Intimate space and super seafood. We had a range of options in our group so tried lots of dishes. Really enjoyable occasion.

Rarely have I eaten so well and found such excellent service... the fish is very fresh... excellent quality!!! Cooked excellently.... Iva is a fabulous manager who made us feel good!!!

7 years ago my wife and I had the best seafood chowder of our lives. Even now that I have moved countries i still can remember the amazing chowder. will definitely come back if given the chance.

Underwhelming I'm afraid. I make a point of going to a fish resturant when ever I am away on a UK vacation and by comparason to many others that I have been to not so special. I cannot think of anything that stood out as exceptional

Let's start with the food, Amazing food, fresh, tasty, well presented. The staffs were very kind, attentive. The atmosphere it is cozy, do way I like, a small restaurant/bar with few tables. I recommend book a table in advance and definitely we will go back. There is a shopping close to the restaurant that you can park your car, the car park closes at midnight.

Absolutely lovely dinner, and I had the best cocktail I've ever tried- the Rhuberry Blast, not too sweet as I usually find with them, it was divine. Friendly and competent staff too! Thank you!

Went here when I still lived in Northern Ireland. Best mussels I've ever had. 5/5, would definitely recommend. Amazing place. Update for 2024: Came back here for a dinner with family, one of my younger siblings was indecisive and the staff were really helpful with finding something he'd like. 10/10!!!

Best Gluten free fish n' chips I've ever had in the world!

Scallop seafood spaghetti tasted like leftover cat food mixed with a tin of Heinz spaghetti. I mean they tried, but it was dire. Gotta be blunt.

A relatively small and homely restaurant in the heart of Belfast. They have a select menu and everything is delicious. We went as a group with 3 special dietary needs and we were all catered for as almost every dish could be made gluten free. Our server was delightful, friendly, full of helpful suggestions. Highly recommend

The food is great, one of the best I had in Belfast.

Food was delicious. We shared the mussels, squid and a Lobster gratin special. Staff were all friendly and our waitress even took the time to write out the recipe for the post dinner cocktail (orange espresso martini) we enjoyed so much. Our kids enjoyed it too. Would definitely go again when next in Belfast. Book ahead though as it was very busy.

The sea bass is exquisite and the lobster with shrimp is very delicious. The service is good and exquisite.

Fantastic seafood eatery set in the middle of Belfast CBD. Service was fantastic, food was even better. It's a small venue, highly advise you to make a booking. Would return tenfold.

We were told by our local guide this was the best seafood in Belfast. We didn't try others but have no reason to. The food was excellent and the staff were great. I would recommend making a reservation as there is very limited seating.

The servers were rude and unwelcoming! The only damper on the evening Perhaps when the tip is being included on your bill ( the only restaurant that did this our entire trip) they don’t need to bother being either polite or friendly. Miserable attitudes

This was by far our favourite restaurant during our trip to Belfast. The food was so fresh, comforting and well cooked. The oysters were the best we have ever had. What really set this restaurant apart was the excellent staff. They were friendly, welcoming, genuinely interested in their customers and had great knowledge of the products. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Belfast!

Great range of delicious seafood dishes and an excellent value lunch menu

The food was good, but in my opinion it wasn't great for the price. The Tuscan shrimp was a bit on the sweet side and everything was really bathed in sauce. The service was fine, but again, not great. We had to keep getting people's attention to order and get the check. We eventually went up to the bar to pay because the server wasn't coming back. All in all, it was good, but not great.

Booking highly recommended. Food was fantastic and well priced. Great staff and nice atmosphere.

Great food, classic recipes, casual atmosphere

After reading the great reviews we were terribly disappointed with our meal here; perhaps we chose the wrong dishes but the linguine was terrible, too much of the pre made sugary sauce with a herb that didn't quite work (perhaps tarragon) and not enough seafood. Linguine and it's sauce should be made fresh. The hostess /waitress heard one of our orders wrong and barked at us when we let her know, telling me it was what I had ordered. It wasn't. She seems very stressed and annoyed in general, stomping around the place. Would not recommend this restaurant but there's a good pub next door.

Despite slow service(the restaurant was understaffed with only two servers for the fully booked dinner seatings), the food was hot, fresh and well-prepared. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and I would definitely eat there again on my next visit to Belfast.

The food is great. This would be an easy four stars if the service was better. I think we waited over an hour to eat. The Hake (which was chefs special) was a favorite. The casserole is more like a stew, and each bite is a surprise to what it might be. It’s also a messy dish to eat.

Really lovely place, nice decor, great atmosphere including the music and the food is wonderful. The staff are really nice and make good cocktails.

We enjoyed a splendid dinner at Mourne, with brilliant food and wine, a lovely cocktail and exemplary and attentive service in a very lively atmosphere. The chowder and the monkfish scampi were particularly lovely and the whole dining experience was memorable. It was also great value. Mourne Seafood Bar should be on every Belfast visitor's itinerary.

First night in Belfast, booked based on reviews, and ate some of the best seafood I've ever tasted. Started with oysters which were superb, and thoroughly enjoyed the hake & champ main course. My wife loved the monkfish scampi. What a great star tto our trip.

The restaurant is a gem. Absolutely delicious, fresh seaford - we had the mussels and the monk fish scampi. I have never ever tasted better scampi in my life, absolutely amazing. Along with this the service was efficient and very friendly, the atmosphere was buzzy without being too noisy and we loved the whole experience. Outstanding! If you get the chance, go.

We were very eager to have lunch at Mourne Seafood Bar, and the Carlingford oysters and seafood chowder were exactly as amazing as we hoped. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, as well. However, our service was erratic. We sat unattended for over 30 minutes after being finishing our oysters, waiting for our soup to be served, and the waiter did not bring a condiment as requested for our chips. We had to get up and ask about our food. I recommend Mourne simply because the food was delicious, but don’t go if you have somewhere to be afterwards.

A great spot. I got the chilli squid and the mussels. Super yummy. The mussels had a sauce that was really nice and creamy. The squid wasn't over fried and actually decently light. Also the Parmesan truffle fries were very tasty. I got the mezcal dessert drink that was pretty decent. The sticky toffee pudding, was pretty yummy. The whole place was quite lively!

My husband and I were excited to try this place out when visiting Belfast after a recommendation from our friend. We ordered the mussels and squid for starters. The mussels were beautifully presented and tasted excellent. The squid was great but the portion size was a bit small for the price. For mains, we ordered the seabass on the bone which was seasoned perfectly. I really enjoyed the flavours of this dish. The seafood casserole was also delicious. We ordered a chocolate fondant to share for dessert, but there was some confusion amongst the staff. We waited 20 minutes to finally receive it. I assume the waiter who we initially ordered with forgot to put the other through to the kitchen, and the second waitress followed this up for us. The chocolate fondant itself was a bit dry and a bit of a let down for the evening. All in all, some great seafood and a relaxed atmosphere.

As two seafood lovers, we had been looking forward to going for ages, and it did not disappoint! We booked a Saturday night before a concert in St. Annes Cathedral. We found the staff to be very helpful in explaining each course we enquired about and accompanying wines. Service was great, and the food and wines were delicious. I'm definitely going to book a return visit.
