Catch in Belfast

Slow and overpriced. Took 45 minutes for starter to arrive. No kids menu. Asked for a baby bowl of soup and potato and got a full bowl of soup and a full bowl of creamed potato. Most expensive baby bowl ever for baby to eat a few spoonfuls. Trawler plate was missing main ingredient when asked if it was what the waiter had told he said yes and went to the kitchen and chef cooked the main ingredient and came to table with it in a bowl. We at this stage was paying the bill £157 for 4 adults and 1 baby under 1.

They have takeout shop by the side. Great deal for the take out order! Fish is fresh and good size.

Terrible service, food undercooked (muscles)

I have mixed feelings about my dining experience. The burger was good, but the squid was almost impossible to chew, and while the white fish was tasty, the mussels were undercooked. It seems like most of the food might be cooked from frozen. On the service front, there was a stark contrast. A young waiter was delightful and added to the experience. However, the manager's behaviour left much to be desired. My partner and I, while seated on a sofa and sharing a hug, were approached by a staff member who rudely asked us to leave, claiming we were making someone uncomfortable due to our public display of affection. Rather than the manager assessing the situation to understand that our actions were inoffensive, he chose to be impolite towards us. A more appropriate approach would have been for him to gently inform us that someone felt uneasy while also reminding the complainant that showing affection is not against any public behaviour norms. This would have been a fair and balanced way to handle the situation.

Was in on friday my son got oysters he was violently sick the next day, fish and chips nice but batter not crispy and peas stone cold, long wait for food but our waitress was lovely, expensive for what it is, the chips are the saving grace but not many of them, avoid the oysters

The seafood linguine is the best pasta dish I have ever had. Staff is lovely. I’d love to take a flight to Belfast just to have this linguine again

We found this place on the off chance, when looking at Google maps for places to eat near our hotel. A quick scan of the menu told us it would cater for all our party (4 of us), so we booked our table for later that evening. There was plenty of choice on the menu, something to cater for all appetites. In fact, there was too much choice, it was hard to choose. Also, before we went, we all said that we weren't that hungry and would only have one course, but all ended up ordering all 3 courses! It was a Monday evening, so not overly busy, and the waiter (Gary) was very attentive and prompt. The food was exceptional in taste, quantity and presentation. You can tell it is all fresh and homemade. We were all passing spoonfuls to one another to try the different dishes. The previous evening, we ate in another local restaurant where the food cost more and wasn't as exceptional (it was good, but nowhere near as good as this meal). I genuinely feel we did not pay enough for the quality of the food we had, and told Gary as such! We absolutely loved it, and have booked to go back the next night! If I know anyone's coming to Belfast, and I will be insisting they pay Catch a visit!

Really lovely staff, great service and incredible food. Very happy to have found this gem, will be coming back.

Nice and friendly, we had an misunderstanding but the staff was very helpful. We were there to get a grease fish and chips in paper but ended up with only drinking beer.

Went here on Friday night with a booking. Staff member at the door was really lovely and polite despite being under pressure of training new staff on a busy evening. Unfortunately service only went downhill from here when we were seated. Immediately asked if we wanted to place an order within a minute of being gave our menus. Asked for a few minutes so the waiter went to get our drinks. Service started really good besides this, atmosphere was lovely within the restaurant. Mussels starter was gorgeous and a very big portion. Korean bbq chicken wings however were incredibly disappointing. Definitely not Korean bbq, but a very good normal bbq. Mains took a while after starters which we didn't mind waiting on. Linguine was incredibly good and the in house sourdough was the star of the show. The battered fish and chips however was bog standard. The batter had no seasoning and could have used a few minutes longer to really get that nice golden brown on the outside. Salt and vinegar on the table really saved the lack of seasoning in the batter. During this time, no waiter checked on us to see how our food was or if we needed any more drinks which was rather disappointing. We also did not feel as thought we had booked incredibly late (8.15pm but arrived and got seated early at 8pm) however the wait staff clearly did not want to do anything but rush tables out. Ordered dessert which was honestly the best part of the night, sticky toffee pudding was huge and the orange mousse was incredible. However, again, waited a long time for our table to be cleared then our waiter disappeared and sat with a table of what seemed to be staff not on shift? And had a chat. The only thing that prompted our waiter to bring our bill was when I stood up and put my coat on after waiting 15 minutes. Honestly, the atmosphere is good (when they remember to put the playlist back on and not leave the restaurant awkwardly in silence), besides the initial greeting at the start the service is quite poor and food is good but very pricey for the quality.

Catch is my favourite restaurant in Belfast. Their seafood is to die for, the staff are so welcoming and nice and the atmosphere is great. I've been here many times and it's always a fantastic meal

Family dinner for 3 . Booked in advance. Had the cauliflower wings 10/10 spicy and well presented Crispy squid - 6 /10 - a bit bland but OK. Fish tacos - 9/10 - was expecting a bit of salsa , came with purple coleslaw which was very good , but was expecting salsa . Seafood linguine- 9/10 - huge portion with plenty of fish , good sauce , needed salt Chips were 10/0 Side salad - 8/10 , v3ry fresh but needs a dressing . Welcome / Staff very attentive , polite . 10/10 Good choice of spirits , an ipa or 2 would be a good addition for beer choice Will go back

Delicious food and great service

Went for lunch and ordered the calamari starter and chicken tacos. I asked for both to be brought out together. After a long wait for a simple order (and not busy) the calamari arrived cold, looked grey and was over cooked. I sent it back to be given a replacement that was greasier, slightly warmer food (on a stone cold plate), very over cooked, and smaller portion. Chicken tacos - Tortilla was shop bought and not toasted. Chicken looked like a goujon that you can buy a pack of 20 from Tesco, so much coleslaw I have to take a lot and set to the side. Drinks - ordered a sprite and some water. The water I had to ask for twice. Didn't couldnt finish either of my 2 dishes and when clearing the table the waiter avoided asking if everything was ok lol ( I don't blame him). Disappointing as I've wanted to try Catch for a while, certainly not worth the £25 I paid.

I have literally just left here. and I'm absolutely gob smacked and shocked at the price I was just charged. so the lunch time special was £6.... plus I wanted some cheese and curry sauce on top. I asked how much was a curry cheese chip. I was told £4.50. now that's including the curry and cheese because that's what I asked. so that amounts to £10.50. you'd think that to add a bit of cheese and curry sauce on top would prob be £2 tops. if even. £15.20 I was charged. that's day light robbery like. nearly £20 for a few frozen chips. 2 battered sausages. that tbh. isn't even nice. I'm gob smacked.

Batter on fish was excellent . Only reason not a 5 was chips had a lot of small end bits.

Dined: 06.10.23 A very disappointing visit. Waited a long time for my food and drink to arrive. Oysters were lovely. Steak tough - sent it back. Ordered the catch of the day, but the vegetables were cold. Sent back. I ordered a side salad which was swimming in vinager. Also sent back. Also charged for a side of mixed vegetables which were on the plate I sent back. Had to argue for the vegetables to be taken off my bill. Disorganised service - was asked if I wanted to order a main course after I finished my starter. Offered a dessert even though I sent back my main course twice!

Food was great prices were good to,except for a service charge,at the end of the bill,was in last week never got charge,but everything else ok.

Got food poisoning from tbe Oysters. Fish from the Fish and chips smelled really old and batter was very stale and crumbly.

Después voy al baño de minusválidos pues voy en silla de ruedas y estaba ocupado por un camarero, lo considero una falta de respeto. Sólo una camarera que ni siquiera nos había atendido, nos prestó atención.

Again, to find this gem in Belast was fantastic. My wife and I had mussels in a rich cream sauce and fish and chips. I had a desert, which was Pannacota. A very good menu and great atmosphere.

This was an amazing accidental find just walking about. The prices for the quality are amazing. The dining area is cozy and cute. We got the muscles, oysters, seafood pasta, and fish and chips. All items were excellent taste and quality.

Food really good and fresh especially mussels. Staff members were unaffectionate and we took a long time to wait for our mains. I gave 4/5 for this dinner.

Had a wonderful salmon dinner with appetizer and nice glass of wine. Great service as well.

Appalling service, don’t understand why no one bothers to even give us the menu and serve us water upon entering, we had to wait for 15 mins, and when asked for the server, he unwillingly handed us the menus. Bad bad service on a Thursday evening. Wasted potential because the food was absolute class. Not sure if I will return for dinners, maybe lunch.

A very disappointing visit. Waited an extremely long time for our food and drinks to arrive. One of the main courses was also missing. We brought this to the staff's attention, but the missing food still never arrived. Ended up having no choice but to cancel it, as everyone else at the table had finished their meals. What made it worse was that they still charged us for the food that never came! Not only did they fail to apologize or offer any compensation for this incident, but they also added a 10% service charge. Such unprofessional service and quality. Avoid.

Best quality and value 2 course special (4pm - 7pm) I've had for some time. The seafood linguine was packed with quality ingredients and cooked perfectly. This place is busy but service is still good.

The meal set is great! 2 dishes for 19.9 is afordable price. Delicious food and great service. Highly recommend.

5 people came in behind me all them got there food first..then when I got my fish supper the box was empty I no places getting it tight but this was not a meal fish was like a chicken nugget and it wasn't even a hand ful of chips...the peas were missing.....after a days work I'm raging

I visited this restaurant during my short trip to Belfast and it was amazing. So far this is the best linguine pasta that I ever had. The taste and the portion was epic, staffs were wonderful and ambience of the restaurant was really nice. I enjoyed my dinner very much.

It is such a shame to give a 1 star review, as we actually really enjoyed our meal and the staff were great. However I have tried to contact the restaurant to no avail, as me and my husband ate here on Fri 7th and have both been very ill (suspect food poisoning) for the past week. There are 4 other reviews in the past couple of months saying to avoid the oysters, and I would add to that - as we both had these grilled for a shared starter. Some people seem to have enjoyed them and had no problems, but I wouldn't want anyone to risk it and wanted to share my experience in case! I would at least like to have heard from the restaurant once I submitted my comments earlier this week or to be able to get through on the phone.

Fantastic night in Catch on Friday evening for Beckys Birthday Meal. The staff were lovely and even went out of their way to put a banner and balloons up. And at end of evening a sweet treat with candle and everyone singing happy birthday. Oscar and team with him were amazing as always they are a credit to ur establishment and always make you feel welcome and always go above and beyond to make customers happy. Definitely one of my fav places to visit and will definitely be back soon. Not very many places ul get service like u do at Catch 🙂❤️

Was in Belfast for a weekend and went in here. Good fish & chips, nice batter. Only minor quibble was that the service was reasonable in terms of checking up to see if I and the food were ok, but a little slow in delivering the dessert menu & the bill, but it was a busy Saturday night. I’d probably also say reservations recommended for large groups at weekends.

Enjoyed a delightful birthday dinner! When we made the booking we said it was for our sister’s birthday. Oscar decorated a booth with balloons and a sign and prepared a special dessert. Both he and our server Cathleen were friendly. The oysters, seafood linguine and sea bass were delicious. Highly recommend!

Okay so seeing all the good reviews on here, thought I'd give it a go. Maybe they were having an off night yesterday but here's an honest review. 1. Greeted by a friendly waiter, shown to our seats. 2. No one tended to us for almost 30 minutes after that despite trying to get attention. I could sense the frustration in the two tables beside us too. 3. Got our drinks ordered which took another 15 minutes to arrive, after being brought the wrong order. 4. I was ready to forgive all that if the food was good, seeing that they source their seafood from Keenan's, an excellent fishmonger I've never been disappointed by. But food was disappointing. Seafood chowder was a dark yellow colour and tasted interesting. I wouldn't have called it a chowder. Mussels were nothing to shout about, seabass and hake, again nothing special. Very heavy on the sauces and potatoes. 5. Didn't bother with dessert. I wouldn't recommend this place considering the other competitors out there. If you're looking for good seafood at a reasonable price and excellent service, I would recommend Mourne seafood bar 5 minutes away.

Found this place by luck looking for a convenient store and next day came to eat. The manager greeted us as if we were regulars. He really made us feel at home, great guy ( Ozgur?) food was amazing. We are gluten free so all food prepared for us as GF and it was delicious kudos to chefs and definitely to Ozgur for making sure all was up to our liking. Prices are more than reasonable for quality of food you get.

High quality food and service! My family was visiting from out of town and wanted to try fresh, local sea food. Each meme her of waitstaff who took care of us was friendly and attentive. Tried the the seafood linguini and fish & chips! Light, tempura-like fry to the fish & chips. Linguine and chowder were light and flavorful & didn’t have the typical heavy-dairy sauce. Recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant local meal.

Erinnert mehr an eine Kantine als an ein Restaurant. Bestelltes Steak war durch gebraten, nicht medium und hatte Knorpel. War etwas enttäuscht. Dafür war das Ricotta mit warmen Beeren sehr gut.
