Waited around 40 mins for a sharing platter to be delivered, where the sides were missing then has to ask twice for them to be brought to us with another 10 minute wait. Surprising for a Saturday night service. Cornbread was devoid of any moisture and the brisket didn't have much flavour apart from the sauce. Chorizo sausage and honey wings were excellent though. Food was ok but the kitchen service was found wanting. Sadly quite lacklustre BBQ which didn't live to the hype

Badly burnt ribs and chicken wings, cold pulled pork. When we said while paying the bill the manager said we where asked how everything was - those items had not been tried yet so we said it was good. - took a few drinks of the price so roughly £15.

Hi. Went to meatwagin with a few friends for my mates birthday we booked a table for 12. Although only 8 of us showed up. The food was a bit slow but it finally got to us. The food was just OK but bland nothing special and a bit over priced for what it was. Although we did all have an OK time. Time cane to pay and I asked could they break up the bill so we could all pay for our own food each. This request was rejected. The bill came to nearly 200 quid. It also had a service change added which I was told was due to the fact that there was over 10 of us. There was intact 8 of us who arrived. Anyway we where able to pay in 3 transactions each to cover the bill and the service change. But it would of been easier for us the costumers to pay for what each of us had. As stated above the food was OK and the service was good enough but I myself wouldn't be rushing back and the service charge should have been wiped as there was only 8 of us present..I did infact feel robbed and it was in no way value for money which we all work hard to earn just like u guys in the restaurant do yourselves

1st time here since the rebrand to MW. Friendly staff. Burger size was disappointing, approx the size of a McD's double cheese burger. Smash burgers are usually bigger with a caramelised edge. Flavour came from the dressing the meat of the burger was bland, and the temperature was 'warm' would have enjoyed more if the temperature of the patties was consistent with the sides. Batter on the onion rings was light and crispy - really good. Fries, standard but a good portion. I would return again but order something else. Burger disappointing and is too pricey (£13) for what it was.

If you're looking for one of the best burgers in Belfast, Stix & Stones is the place to go! I ordered the Wagon Burger, and it was absolutely fantastic. The brioche bun was soft, the salad was cut perfectly, and the sauce was just beautiful. Plus, the fries were spot on—crispy and delicious. The service was great too, really friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Everything was done right, and I can honestly say it’s the best burger I’ve had in the city. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

We went for a quick lunch as they were advertised in Belfast Restaurant Week. What seemed to be the manager was reluctant to advise us of the offer, but we were able to advise him that we were there for Belfast Restaurant Week. I’ve made better burgers at home. I would steer clear of this place at all costs. Far better places out there offering 10 times better. Definitely won’t be back.

I popped into this Joint on a trip to Belfast last week, I was looking literally anywhere for somewhere to eat as I’d only just arrived in the city, I was really happy to find this place. Just a few doors down from a fantastic shop window containing dry aging beef, this was my kind of place. The food was excellent, I had the War Pig burger and a side of Beef Fat Chips, all very nice indeed, the serving sizes were pretty good and the price was reasonable. Service was excellent, friendly staff, very helpful. And the food was top notch, the burger and chips both fantastic, with a lovely bacon jam on the burger (yummy)….. We returned the following evening, this time I had Beef short rib, and the Smoked chorizo, once again I cannot fault the food or service, we’re coming back to Belfast next Summer, and will definitely be coming back to the Meat Wagon on that trip.

First meal in Belfast and although the service was great, very fast. The atmosphere was fine. The price was okay..the Bar-B-Q fell short. The 3 meat selection platter with 2 sides portion wise was more than adequate. But the brisket....ohhhh...so sad...!!! I would not serve this meat to my friends. It was very dry, lacked flavor. Just not good. No fat at all. No fat = no flavor..!! The sauce made it edible... The " short rib"..it was one big rib, one big rib with very little meat on it. If they are selling the short ribs by weight...than it's a win for the restaurant, the customers gets the bone. The bone was 80%.. The wings, well they were decent. The sides were good. Just work on that dry brisket. I would come back, order a burger...avoid the BBQ. At least the brisket. Just being honest..

I thought that the smoked meat, especially the short back ribs were over done quite burnt on the outside and left a bit of an after taste. Got an order from the Takeaway section of the restaurant - which largely seemed quite awkward and unwelcoming due to the open nature of the kitchen and having pretty much no decoration of interest in the area. Though the expense of eating out in Belfast has increased in the past number of years - do yourself a favour, save a tenner and go to mcdonalds instead. For 17 quid I ordered a burger and a side of cornbread. The burger was alright, very tough and nothing special whatsoever which now is a place of regret in thinking of my bank account. The cornbread was disasterous, especially considering it was ice cold which was ultimately confusing due to it being wrapped in tinfoil. Once again, for 4 pounds you'd atleast expect a somewhat decent side, but it was too much of a bad cake-like experience to justify ever getting it again. Overall this was a very disappointing experience, which lead me to believe that the sit in part of the restaurant may be better, although in reading other reviews, perhaps not.

Really poor, marketed as a BBQ restaurant but the moment we walked through the door we should have known. BBQ restaurants tend to have a smell, an atmosphere…none of that…ain’t nothing being grilled in this place and the atmosphere was nonexistent. At best guess, boiling meat and smothering it in sauce. When you have to take a knife to beef brisket you now you’ve been had. The waitress knew all too well, comped us a round of drinks as apology. Hands down the worst dining experience I’ve had, which is a shame as I thought being affiliated with Stix and stones we’d be on to a winner.

A little pricey at £31.95 but generous portions.

The food here is exceptionally bland. The menu makes you think the meat is going to be smokey, barbecued, and filled with meaty flavour but the meat tastes (and I'm truly not exaggerating) like it has been boiled in plain water. The beef is like a bland tasteless watery roast beef. Don’t call it brisket if it’s not! The burgers are just bland, and also taste boiled. Totally unseasoned. The hot sauce doesn’t help the burger at all. The chicken burger is again totally tasteless, it tastes like they battered it in plain flour and water. The loaded fries were okay. Nothing to write home about. The day I went the place was pretty dead but the staff were still really slow. This is what we want from a smokehouse - actually put some effort into seasoning your meat. Smoke it, make a bbq glaze. Cook the burgers on a BBQ and season them! Fried chicken should also be seasoned! Flour is not a seasoning!

Going in I had high expectations for the food but these were unfortunately not met. This was my first time here so I'm not sure if we visited on an off day. We ordered a number of starters to share. The hash brown stack was very nice, the chipolatas and BBQ wings were good, but the brisket bites were dry, the mac and cheese bites were flavourless, and the corn was overcooked. We all ordered the platter as a main. Two of us asked to substitute the fries for BBQ beans which was possible (much appreciated), but the beans were sadly undercooked, if they'd even been cooked at all. It felt like someone had dumped them straight from a can into the sauce and then served immediately after heating them up for a minute or two. The brisket was better than the brisket bites, but still drier than I would've liked. The ribs were also dry and somewhat meagre. The teriyaki chicken wings were dry and extremely salty. The coleslaw was bland and the corn was once again overcooked. The cocktails were fine. Two of us ordered milkshakes with a shot of Bailey's. The flavour was good and the milkshake was fine, but the ice cream seemed to contain ice crystals which you wouldn't really expect when paying close to a tenner for it. Service was good and attentive. Wait times for the food were okay. The amount of food was good, but they should definitely focus on quality over quantity. A lot of the meat was akin to, if not slightly worse than, the type of pre-cooked and vacuum-packed meats with sauce that you'd buy in a shop like Tesco and heat at home in the oven. The rest of the group didn't seem as disappointed with the food as I was, but I personally don't think I'll be back.

Service was EXTREMELY slow, we arrived early and sat at the bar for a drink whilst waiting for our table, then when we did get seated it took about 5-10 mins before someone asked for our order. After finishing dinner at 19:55, our plates were lifted at about 20:00. By the time it got to 25 past 8, we had not been spoken to once or asked if we wanted desert. Dined here last night and I won’t be in a rush back. Initially welcomed, seated and a drinks order taken. The decor and music sets a nice atmosphere. Ordered our food and had a wait of anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour only to have a server then give us the next tables food. Mistakes happen. When asked when our food would be ready I was given a stock “15 minutes” response. I asked for the bill at which point we were told our food would be 1 minute. Hot honey wings were mild at best, ribs were verging on cold, chips were fairly average too. Despite the long wait there was no check back during our main from the team, or the manager. We were offered a free dessert for the wait, I went for the cheesecake which was surprisingly dry… The place has bags of potential, but I work too hard to put any more of my money through the till.

The brisket was not BBQ - more like a bit of roast beef in gravy. Wings good, ribs OK. Starter of sausages (and just sausages) in a plastic basket was awful. Feels like a place serving OK meat trying to pretend to be a proper BBQ place. Worst restaurant I've been to in quite a while.

We ordered one of the smokehouse platters to share. We were not asked any additional questions regarding this, and as it was our first visit, we didn't know any different. However, when our food arrived, the chicken wings (entirely drumstick) were covered in franks hot sauce. They have 4 wing sauce options, including BBQ, which, given it was a "Smokehouse Platter" would have at least made more sense and allowed us to actually eat them. The brisket is served in small cast iron skillets, which were not warmed in order to keep the food warm. I checked this as it arrived at our table so I could move it to my side of the large tray. The brisket was also swimming in gravy, so verging on a soup, which felt very much like a way to cover up any dry meat but each to their own. The ribs were the biggest let down, they were cold through to the bone shortly after arriving at the table. In my opinion and experience with this kind of cusine. Meals come down piping to ensure no matter how you decide to eat and share the platter thst things are still warm. Bare in mind we didn't have the food in front of us more than 20 minutes before we asked for the bill. Cocktails were for me overpriced, especially in relation to the Southside, which in its basic is gin and tonic topped with mint. Order in some tonic so gin drinkers are forced to pay extra for mint. Soda water, syrup, and lime juice are not good alternative. Staff were fine, and generally, I have no complaints about our interaction with the staff bar in the hot wings situation. I wish I'd read the most recent reviews. Changing the business name instead of this being a new business listing the reviews with any positivity are referring to Catch not to The Meat Wagon and even then were pretty poor in the last year.

I don’t often read reviews but after seeing videos/pics of food from online influencers compared to the food I received, thought I’d highlight to others the difference in food you might receive if you’re not an “influencer”. I was so excited to try this place and what a let down. Myself and my partner went here and and got 2 burgers, 1 portion of skinny’s, 1 portion of sweet potato fries (as there’s no sides included with burgers) and 1 can of beer which came to £36. We were both so disappointed with the food received. The burger I received was pretty pathetic and the chips were honestly basic oven chips with no seasoning and were like cardboard. Photo attached for you to see for yourself. On a positive note, our waitress was lovely and she made the experience more enjoyable - if it wasn’t for her, I would have really been pushing for a refund today.

Cocktails and staff were nice. But that's about the height of it. Corn on the cob was under cooked. Ribs were served either cold or near enough, because by the time I got to them (max 3 minutes from serving) they were solid and inedible. I'd say they were likely served cold as the sauce didn't even seem to have warmed on them. The rest of the food was fine-ish. But if you're serving chicken wings and don't mention ANYWHERE that they are COATED in hot sauce, you're doing something wrong. I understand wings and hot sauce are synonymous, but I was expecting barbeque wings. Spice levels are usually at least specified on the menu so I know what I'm ordering. I wouldn't have ordered them if I'd known they were spicy. Most importantly, I feel like they definitely should have gotten the reviews on here reset when they stopped being Catch, as it's very misleading when the majority of recent reviews since they became Meat Wagon are incredibly poor and I feel like I've been misled by the great reviews for an entirely different restaurant. TL;DR Overpriced for what we got. Cold food. Very disappointed.

Ate here on Saturday night after looking forward to it for 2 weeks. So disappointing. It’s advertised as a high-quality BBQ smokehouse but all the food was bland and clearly hadn’t been near a BBQ or a smoker. They had even run out of beer. Won’t be back.

We ordered 'burnt ends' for starters. We were given what seemed like cubes of boiled cheap beef. Definitely not smoked or roasted. Rubber meat with disgusting gravy. Main course of room temperature ribs, brisket which was more gravy than meat, chicken drumsticks coated in hot sauce. I neither ordered nor like hot sauce. Ordered chips with bacon and cheese. We received those with peppered sauce over the top (which we didnt order, or like, but were charged extra for.) Corn was fine. Guy that took our order was lovely. Girl that brought the food basically threw the food in front of us. Approx £120 for 3 people. Starter, main and glass of coke each.

Food was very poor, an over expensive version of Bubba Q. Ribs and brisket were just about warm a Dirty fires were average. Save yourself money and cook food in air fryer. Very disappointing as I was hoping for some quality slow cooked meat but in realty you could get better cooking rack of ribs form Asda at home

Slow and overpriced. Took 45 minutes for starter to arrive. No kids menu. Asked for a baby bowl of soup and potato and got a full bowl of soup and a full bowl of creamed potato. Most expensive baby bowl ever for baby to eat a few spoonfuls. Trawler plate was missing main ingredient when asked if it was what the waiter had told he said yes and went to the kitchen and chef cooked the main ingredient and came to table with it in a bowl. We at this stage was paying the bill £157 for 4 adults and 1 baby under 1.

I have mixed feelings about my dining experience. The burger was good, but the squid was almost impossible to chew, and while the white fish was tasty, the mussels were undercooked. It seems like most of the food might be cooked from frozen. On the service front, there was a stark contrast. A young waiter was delightful and added to the experience. However, the manager's behaviour left much to be desired. My partner and I, while seated on a sofa and sharing a hug, were approached by a staff member who rudely asked us to leave, claiming we were making someone uncomfortable due to our public display of affection. Rather than the manager assessing the situation to understand that our actions were inoffensive, he chose to be impolite towards us. A more appropriate approach would have been for him to gently inform us that someone felt uneasy while also reminding the complainant that showing affection is not against any public behaviour norms. This would have been a fair and balanced way to handle the situation.

We found this place on the off chance, when looking at Google maps for places to eat near our hotel. A quick scan of the menu told us it would cater for all our party (4 of us), so we booked our table for later that evening. There was plenty of choice on the menu, something to cater for all appetites. In fact, there was too much choice, it was hard to choose. Also, before we went, we all said that we weren't that hungry and would only have one course, but all ended up ordering all 3 courses! It was a Monday evening, so not overly busy, and the waiter (Gary) was very attentive and prompt. The food was exceptional in taste, quantity and presentation. You can tell it is all fresh and homemade. We were all passing spoonfuls to one another to try the different dishes. The previous evening, we ate in another local restaurant where the food cost more and wasn't as exceptional (it was good, but nowhere near as good as this meal). I genuinely feel we did not pay enough for the quality of the food we had, and told Gary as such! We absolutely loved it, and have booked to go back the next night! If I know anyone's coming to Belfast, and I will be insisting they pay Catch a visit!

The chips here used to be of excellent quality until very recently whereas on the last few occasions we've ordered chips from here, they've been seriously undercooked the point they were inedible and were only fit for the bin. I hope this isn't treated as a complaint but I feel this needs brought to your attention.
