I paid for 2 ketchup dips but received only one and base of cod fish was overcooked.

The app us showing food got delivered to me but I received nothing. This isn't right

Was supposed to be an extra large fish look more like a medium size fish and not even cod doesn’t even say what fish it is. Oil it was cook in needs changing didn’t touch the batter just ate the fish chip was the only thing that was decent

Chips now come in a small box? Previously it used to be the larger box. But the food was good. Not sure if it was a mistake by the person serving the chips?

I visited Mother Hubbards Gants Hill for Fish and Chips on 19/072024, and I was very impressed! The quality of the fish was delicious, and the portions are HUGE. I struggled to finish the food, but I finished the food! The fish batter was delicious and it was freshly cooked and not very oily at all. We also tried the chicken tenders and I will be very honest and say they are better than KFCs easily. The chicken and mushroom pie was amazing too. The customer service was excellent!

Keesha gave impeccable customer service at the Gants Hill, Ilford branch. This made me more encouraged to continue coming to the store. I discovered the shop on Uber Eats or Deliveroo and I do not regret it. The food is nice and I like the diversity of the menu. The decor and vibe in the shop is good too. The best feature is the very affordable menu. I would recommend for these reasons

Saw a reply to the one of their reviews which said give us a try and truly they have lived up to their word. The fish and chips was of truly premium quality. I hope they will keep their quality as is or even better. Unbeatable offer and delicious too. After a long time I felt I had a real food!

My order was not delivered, yet the App says delivered!!! Rubbish service, Just Eat have taken payment for my order and it has NOT been delivered it!!!! 😭😭😭

2/7/24, Went there today. The fish was disgusting, oil smelt and the chips were hard, I used to go with my friends as it was nice before, that's the last time i go there! Standards have really dropped, has someone else taken over?

Brilliant fish & chips shop! Even cater for people with dairy allergies. We ordered the jumbo fish & chips meal and had it delivered. The meal was delicious, the fish had a crispy batter, the chips fresh, and the meal was big enough for a family of 4. I will definitely be ordering again. I highly recommend if craving fish & chips.

Uber eats order I clearly clicked the salt and vinegar option in all the fish and chips portion none of them had salt or vinegar no salt satchels were given when complained got told the salt and vinegar don’t have any cost so not refund hence never ordering again

The food at the restaurant was amazing, it was cooked right and had the right portions given. When I went I ate the fish and chips and am defo going again.

I'm sorry to say but the fish is not taste good it feels like it's been frozen and cooked before defrosting I have beat experience never agin if I could add pictures you wold see what I mean

I ordered on Uber eats today from the Ilford branch. I purchased a few curry sauce pots but I called and asked if I could be given extra sauce as we were sharing as a family and I was worried it wouldn’t have been enough. When my order arrived I saw that the staff very kindly added an extra sauce pot! The food was fresh and the special was very large which is great for sharing. Will order again in the future.

I'd been looking forward to trying Mother Hubbard but chips were hard on the outside and the pie pastry was tough and hard to cut. The picture on the website suggested cooked on site but on the whole, they didn't match up to Pukka pies.

One of the best traditional fish in the area. I usually have it delivered and the batter on the fish stays nice and crispy, just how I like it. 1 star less due to the chips, for some reason the chips don't feel the traditional chips, not that they aren't nice, but there is something missing...overall highly recommended to all.

They cater for vegans like myself which i was very happy about as there are not many chip shops around that do as they are cooked in thw same oil as meat. The staff were really lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend and wpyld come again.

Brought my whole family here about a week ago, amazing service and clean place to bring the whole fam. We ordered fish bites and fish and chips. Very crispy and golden batter which complimented the fresh fish inside. Chips were fresh and everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely be back next week!

Disappointed with my order of traditional british favourite large fish and chips. The fish was approximately six inches in length and the chips were hard. Also nothing unique about the batter mix, I have tasted better fish and chips than this and a lot cheaper.

I could not comment on the service nor atmosphere as this was a delivery order. I ordered the special fish and chips, where the fish is supposed to be large, however was given a small/regular fish. The chips did not fill up the box that it was sent in (i would say it was two thirds full). The fish and chips tasted fine, but nothing to write home about. There was no taste of salt or vinegar, although requested. I also ordered two of the the spicy chicken burger and chips (i cut through the burger so you can see a cross section). The burger consists of two flattened patties and the coating does not seem fresh, as though they have used leftovers from the day before. The best thing about the burger was the brioche bun. Mother Hubbards is on the pricier side of takeaways and I am quite disappointed. The East Ham branch is 10 times better.

Rubbish place with terrible customer service

Always freshly made! Great quality Icelandic fish and by far the best crispy batter I’ve had!! Their crispy fish fillet and spicy chicken sandwich is excellent. Nice looking shop and 16 seats available to eat in. Best fish and chips place in town!

Terrible experience at this branch today roughly 9pm. No customers in the shop so no excuse for poor service order fish bite meals and chips was advised sides are extra even though photo of the kids meal shows sides. So decided to pay £1.35 extra for mushy peas only to get home and find these were not added to my order. When my wife called to complain the only solution they could offer was for me to make a 20 minute round trip to pick it up myself to rectify their error. Totally ruined what was already a grossly overpriced meal. If management are reading I'd like you to refund the £1.35 you stole from me as you did not supply the goods. You'll see the transaction in your payment records you took £3.85 which included 2 colas.

I love this place the staff are polite and always smiling. Food is delicious and it's so reasonably priced. The manager Keeisha is so helpful polite and always interacting with the customers . She really is the star of the shop. The last time we went priya made our visit a wonderful one. Definitely my regular restaurant.

Genuinely surprised at how good it is for how cheap it is. Had a Sandwich meal deal for 2, I had the Spicy Chicken Burger Sandwich, double patty is the standard and it was really really surprisingly on point and surprisingly better than the general chicken burgers in the standard chicken and chip shops. Well chuffed with the generous portion size, the service was really pleasant and the staff was helpful and friendly throughout. Cannot fault the place aside from just a favourable ask of please ask the customers re how much salt and vinegar they would like as I was just a tad bit light on the salt and vinegar for my pallet. This was however compensated by the delightful Spicy Curry Sauce. Enjoy!

Didn’t get the food as they wouldn’t honour the deal they promoted on Uber. Even though we had a receipt for our order and it was their mistake. False advertisement. They then took it off Uber after cancelling our order via their delivery drivers. Really cheap business.

I had really high expectations, but to be honest the food was ok. I travelled around 30 mins to get here. Fish and chips, plus burgers. Staff were chatting away, service was ok they wernt rude or anything. Everything was just ok. It was all fresh but the taste wasn't anything special. The batter was not great.

Visited yesterday on the back of a YouTube review and I had high expectations..these expectations were met and then some! The fish and chips looked and smelled amazing! Crispy batter and meaty flaky fish. Each mouthful was savoured and accompanied by a smile. Keesha (apologies if I got the spelling wrong) was amazing and took us through menu options - ended up going with the regular meal deal 1 which came with 2 sides. Great value for money, awesome service and delicious fish & chips. The best I've had away from the seaside!!

Ordered on Uber, portion sizes are terrible. Ordered a large chips @ £4.95 to only receive a hand full of chips, half of which were moldy (parts green and black). Gravy and curry sauce portions also very small. Fish was ok.

We treated all my family to fish and chips and chicken burgers today for my birthday, fish was chewy and dry and half the chips were thin, or black. So gutted. 😔

First time and last time ordering from this place. Don't let its star ratings fool you - For £20 I got 2 small burgers and about 10 chips. Not worth the price whatsoever and you can probably get 2 decent meals for that price.

We are very disappointed. The fish was soggy and tasteless. It seems that the fish and chips were fried in very old cooking oil. Chips were undercooked. I wouldn’t recommend them at all.

I am not sure whats the hype is about at this place. I am yet to find a good fish and chips place im the UK . Fish was smelly , chips were very soggy . No sauce provided. For anything you will have to pay so all in all really unexpected experience.
