Food absolutely tasteless and disgusting. Got a special fish and chips Fish batter didn't taste of anything. Chips had stones in it for 2 tables. Stones in the chips. Nearly broke my teeth. Disgusting ketchup and disgusting vinegar go to a proper chippy. Staff were really nice. Atmosphere was so and so

The customer service was amazing their smiles made my day so friendly and kind and is checking up on us and the food was top it was amazing so flavorful and the hygiene was amazing everything clean tables, food and it didn’t have a strong smell of food.

I was in a rush for my food and arrived during peak times, despite this 2 workers Areem and keesha served me and ensured I received my food as soon as possible, they both handled the situation efficiently and effectively without any mistakes. Definitely recomend

Ordered a Crispy Fish Fillet Sandwich costing £6.99. The size of the bun and fish is a joke. The fish was so slim the size of 2 fish fingers. Looks like a kids burger. How the picture looks on the menu is not what they give you. I would advise the owner to sort this out you cant be robbing people like this.

Disgusting desserts expected more from a £40 order!

Sent me small portion of fish when it was supposed to be large. Stale chips. No salt and vinegar on top when I left a message to properly put this all over. No sachet of any sauce or vinegar sent. I felt totally conned. Not happy 😡.

From my experience, I believe they should sell what they specialise at and that’s the fish and chips. Their dynamite chicken burger is way too spicy and fiery fish just ruins the taste of the fish. Overall the staff was great and the original fish and chips was great 👍🏼

I've been here several times either by myself or with my mum and we always get the fish bites and chips, the service here is amazing,all of them are friendly and are really quick with the service of food, I recommend for everyone to come here for fish and chips!!

What went wrong let me tell you lad in the till I think is new really slow at serving the other lady only prioritise Odets that are for delivery which I don’t get you have customers In the shop that have to wait a long time for food while delivery orders are done first and just sitting there. Fish and chips were good but the chips weren't great that much because they were a little dry. I loved the mushy peas and also curry sauce. Curry sauce was awesome. This was the first mother Hubbard's I have tried.

The chips were old and stale like they had been fried twice in old oil, and smelt and tasted very oily. the size of the fish was very small for the price I paid. all the 4 boxes were cold and we didn't enjoy it at all.

I arrived at this mother Hubbard’s establishment at Gants Hill as I was wishing to indulge in their famous spicy chicken burger. I was greeted by Keesha and Yeshva as I walked through the doors. Immediately I was taken by the aromatic smells. The describing the service I received would not do Keesha and Yeshva justice as the shop was packed. However they remained calm and collected thus managing to get through the dinner rush. The food was absolutely amazing. The Ramadan box had many mouthwatering items such as my personal favourite the fiery fish bites and the spicy chicken burger. Honestly have the best chicken burger in east London as it had a kick and the chicken fillet would melt in your mouth. The first bite of the firey fish was shocking as I tasted such flavour with the freshness of the fish. I would advise anyone who is able to go to mother hubbards, go to the branch in Gants Hill as the service and food was immaculate.

absolutely ridiculous. we ordered our food at 5.30, we received it at 7.45! I had to ring them twice and it sounded like they lost our order. the poor delivery driver, waited over an hour for our order, can't imagine how much money he lost tonight. don't order from here!

Love this classic fish and chips shop established originally as a Franchise in 1972. There are 137 or so of them now across our UK. BASED in Gants Hill roundabout Shopping Parade about 100 yards South from the Gants Hill Underground Station on the Central Line. The Red line on the London Underground Map. Food is well prepared tasty and cooked properly. Reasonably priced and a vast range of foods and not just fish and chips. No Cod, use Haddock as basic fish as Cod now being too expensive these days now we have left the EEC. Or rather since the Tories increased food prices by getting us thrown out of Europe re Brexit. Friendly and helpful staff ⚕️.

I been going to this shop for the last 6 months. The last 3 times the service and the fish has been of a low standard. Is a shame I have to find a new place. Have not been happy with their quality. I have spoken to them and pointed it out but no change.

Really good fish and chips. Nice family players as well as individual meal deals. I like that they are not using the awful drinks brands and have a good selection of alternate brands. Service was absolutle brilliant, friendly and accommodating. Fatima and Keesha served us really well. Ensuring we knew what we ordered, offering cost effective platter deals and above all: Service with a Smile. Both are a great asset to the business.

So glad we finally found a super clean Fish and Chips place. The fish was so fresh and flaky. The sides were excellent too. I’d recommend the fish bites and chilli cheese bites. Can’t wait to come back 😋

Really good food, tasty and fresh. Service here is outstanding. Shout out to fatima behind the counter. Really friendly and hospitable. How customer service should be. I've also previously ordered big work orders from here from the owner Aisha and again super hospitable and friendly. Prices are really good too compared to standard fish and chip shops. One room for improvement however, throw in a dip or two with every meal. 1 dip should be a given at least, charging for every dip isn't a good look for a fast food outlet in gants hill. That aside, great place to eat. Thank you.

I have ordered from this fish and chip shop a couple of years ago and the food was nice, today however the food was not nice at all. The fish was bland and tasteless and very oily, the sausage had no flavour, the burgers were dry the chips dry and tasteless, the curry sauce was also flavourless and was a tiny pot for the price.The food did arrive hot. We bought the buy one get one free deals from uber eats website, but it was still expensive and just not worth the money we paid. The food has left our mouths with an oily feeling/taste it's very unpleasant. Overall we will not be ordering from here in the future and I would not recommend to others.

I ordered food from this restaurant through Uber Eats, and the entire experience was an absolute disaster. It took over an hour for the delivery driver to arrive at my address, which was frustrating in itself. However, the situation worsened when the driver handed me the wrong food. When I called the restaurant to report the issue, the staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of addressing the mistake, the manager flat-out refused to refund my money and told me to contact Uber Eats. When I reached out to Uber Eats, they claimed the restaurant insisted the order was delivered correctly—which was completely untrue and based on lies. The lack of accountability and customer service from both the restaurant and its management was appalling. I strongly advise against ordering from this place. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for better food and service.
