I ordered food at7 pm the food arrived 10 pm it was very late the food was cold bad experience I wouldn’t eat from mother Hubbard again

Can’t imagine you have not given tartar sauce and charging so much for fish and chips ??

Decent pies. Large chips not as big of a portion as other chip shops. One portion of chips also missing from order.

Fish was crispy and delicious. Chips were a perfect mix of crispy and fluffy. Packaged well. Would recommend.

Food arrived Cold. Took an hour just to deliver 2 large chips and 4 tea cake baps. Chips portion size wasn't a good size.

Food was absolutely cold. Really disappointed and let down by quality of food. Order the munch hoping to try different foid items, but nothing was worth it.

food had a bitter taste oil clearly needs changing, chips aren't great local chippy's are so much nicer, batter is tasteless, no sauces given at all, fish usually comes with tartar sauce and some other sauce with the chips as standard, good sized fish bites, but due to the low quality of chips and lack of hygiene of oil won't be buying again.

I ordered fish and chips with sauces. The sauces which I paid for never arrived the food was disgustingly oily. Would never buy here again.

Why didn't we know about this establishment before now? They supplied the best fish & chips we've had in a long time. The menu said Large fish and chips. They actually meant it. The fish was beautifully cooked and we loved the chips. We'll be back

top mark for the delivery man. he was on time, and very friendly with a smile on his face. despite the distance that he had to ride, he's the best courier that I've met so far.

we ordered the buy one get one free deal on the fish bites and chips. Price is reasonably and the fish was good. I'm not keen on their chips, so fat and hard, doesn't absorb the vinegar or salt, just wasn't great. Ended up throwing the chips out. I love when the chips go a little soggy with the vinegar and salt, it didn't happen with these chips; and a ton of vinegar was added. Would order the fish again, just no to the chips.

The food was very poor the portion size very ridiculous and it is not worth the money feel very ripped off and this has beeen a very bad portion from them absolutely ridiculous never ordering again feel scammed

We had a group of 9 Adults and Children, we ordered fish and chips, chicken strips, wings, battered sausage, fish burger, spicy chicken burger meals, all the food was really nice and everything got eaten, would definitely recommend. Lovely friendly staff too, overall a great place to eat, will be going back soon.

Just had my lunch here. I enjoyed the fish. However there are no toilet facilities. I spent over an hour here and asked the waitress if there are toilet facilities and she said yes. When I stood up she said no. I am sure there are! Then I said to her by law a restaurant has to have a toilet. Then I asked can I speak to the manager. She said he is not here. Then a gentlemen (Ashraf) sitting in one of the table said he is the owner, and said with 16 seats you don’t have to. Silly Law! He even said I can complaint to the authority, if I like! Rude! My point is I believe they have one, at least for the staff. One of the girl even suggested to go to nearby chaiiwala. If I have known there is no facilities, I would not walk in. I suggest everyone who is in this situation Not to go to Mother Hubbard’s in Gants Hill. Just want to know is it true in law? If so, then authority should look in to this.

Very clean, good portion size, lovely service and good prices. We ordered quite alot as a family. I think the best deal was fish and chips meal, £10.99. I'm unsure what the fish was but it was quite big and tasted nice. I will come again... Tables were very clean and was nice to sit in and eat. Definitely recommend if you are in the area...

tasted of masala spice so was probably fried in old oil and was disgusting I wont be ordering again from this business. if I wanted masala fish I wouldn't order from what is supposed to be an English fish and chip shop.

Fish was very fresh and portion was excellent! We ordered the special fish n chips - it was a foot long fish on a bed of fries. Would easily feed 2-3 people. However, there’s limited space for dine in and parking is a bit tricky.

I came here a few nights ago. The store wasn't busy. There was 1 person working in the back and two at the front. When placing the order Fish n Chips, I wasn't asked about the salt and vinegar. It's only when I remembered I thought I'd better tell the server, but then someone else was being served, so I had to interrupt, which made me stand out a bit. The chips were not too old, but not freshly fried. They had been their for a short while 5 or more minutes, but the fish was freshly made as with other branches. The server was picking out black fried chips by hand, some might object to that. I've been to a few Mother hubbards, the branch in Sheffield so far have served the tastiest really succulent fresh fish with an amazing batter however again their chips could have been better, as they tend to store their chips and make larger quantities. This store inside isn't well set, compare that to Sheffield where its really well presented with salt n vinegar on every table very neatly kept. Also this store is hard to locate at night as the signage is not luminated. Overall the food here is better than another local chippy that has recently dropped down in standard.

I paid for 2 ketchup dips but received only one and base of cod fish was overcooked.

It’s not worth the price. We always buy fish from the shop however we are sadly left with no choice except leaving the review today in order to spread the awareness about the bad customer service. The fish that has been served was not worth the price. ( TAKE AWAY FOOD) The chef try’s to adjust the smallest pieces of fish into the 8.95£ pounds worth of meal of grill fish. You will get surprised when you open the box and see the size/quantity of the meal/fish. It is not worth the price. They are literally trying to cheat their customers by putting a tiny piece of fish in a box which is overpriced for 8.95£. The pics are attached for customers reviews. We suggest people to make sure that they must check the packed meal before leaving the shop for the quantity and quality.

The app us showing food got delivered to me but I received nothing. This isn't right

Was supposed to be an extra large fish look more like a medium size fish and not even cod doesn’t even say what fish it is. Oil it was cook in needs changing didn’t touch the batter just ate the fish chip was the only thing that was decent

I visited Mother Hubbards Gants Hill for Fish and Chips on 19/072024, and I was very impressed! The quality of the fish was delicious, and the portions are HUGE. I struggled to finish the food, but I finished the food! The fish batter was delicious and it was freshly cooked and not very oily at all. We also tried the chicken tenders and I will be very honest and say they are better than KFCs easily. The chicken and mushroom pie was amazing too. The customer service was excellent!

Wonderful Fish and chips. Have been eating for over a year and the taste is still the same. Spicy fish is a must try. Wonderful service by Keesha. Recommend it 100%

Keesha gave impeccable customer service at the Gants Hill, Ilford branch. This made me more encouraged to continue coming to the store. I discovered the shop on Uber Eats or Deliveroo and I do not regret it. The food is nice and I like the diversity of the menu. The decor and vibe in the shop is good too. The best feature is the very affordable menu. I would recommend for these reasons

Saw a reply to the one of their reviews which said give us a try and truly they have lived up to their word. The fish and chips was of truly premium quality. I hope they will keep their quality as is or even better. Unbeatable offer and delicious too. After a long time I felt I had a real food!

2/7/24, Went there today. The fish was disgusting, oil smelt and the chips were hard, I used to go with my friends as it was nice before, that's the last time i go there! Standards have really dropped, has someone else taken over?

Brilliant fish & chips shop! Even cater for people with dairy allergies. We ordered the jumbo fish & chips meal and had it delivered. The meal was delicious, the fish had a crispy batter, the chips fresh, and the meal was big enough for a family of 4. I will definitely be ordering again. I highly recommend if craving fish & chips.

Uber eats order I clearly clicked the salt and vinegar option in all the fish and chips portion none of them had salt or vinegar no salt satchels were given when complained got told the salt and vinegar don’t have any cost so not refund hence never ordering again

The food at the restaurant was amazing, it was cooked right and had the right portions given. When I went I ate the fish and chips and am defo going again.

I ordered on Uber eats today from the Ilford branch. I purchased a few curry sauce pots but I called and asked if I could be given extra sauce as we were sharing as a family and I was worried it wouldn’t have been enough. When my order arrived I saw that the staff very kindly added an extra sauce pot! The food was fresh and the special was very large which is great for sharing. Will order again in the future.

I'd been looking forward to trying Mother Hubbard but chips were hard on the outside and the pie pastry was tough and hard to cut. The picture on the website suggested cooked on site but on the whole, they didn't match up to Pukka pies.

One of the best traditional fish in the area. I usually have it delivered and the batter on the fish stays nice and crispy, just how I like it. 1 star less due to the chips, for some reason the chips don't feel the traditional chips, not that they aren't nice, but there is something missing...overall highly recommended to all.
