Can’t lie this place has fallen BIG TIME Came in here yesterday gave a order at 5pm was told Order will be ready in ten min, only took 45 min what’s joke. What went wrong let me tell you lad in the till I think is new really slow at serving the other lady only prioritise Odets that are for delivery which I don’t get you have customers In the shop that have to wait a long time for food while delivery orders are done first and just sitting there. Big let down please look into this Thank you

Fish and chips were good but the chips weren't great that much because they were a little dry. I loved the mushy peas and also curry sauce. Curry sauce was awesome. This was the first mother Hubbard's I have tried.

I arrived at this mother Hubbard’s establishment at Gants Hill as I was wishing to indulge in their famous spicy chicken burger. I was greeted by Keesha and Yeshva as I walked through the doors. Immediately I was taken by the aromatic smells. The describing the service I received would not do Keesha and Yeshva justice as the shop was packed. However they remained calm and collected thus managing to get through the dinner rush. The food was absolutely amazing. The Ramadan box had many mouthwatering items such as my personal favourite the fiery fish bites and the spicy chicken burger. Honestly have the best chicken burger in east London as it had a kick and the chicken fillet would melt in your mouth. The first bite of the firey fish was shocking as I tasted such flavour with the freshness of the fish. I would advise anyone who is able to go to mother hubbards, go to the branch in Gants Hill as the service and food was immaculate.

If I could give it a 0 I would. Worst fish and chips ever , soggy chips and fish was not drained off the oil at all. Half of the fish was burnt and inside undercooked .

Love this classic fish and chips shop established originally as a Franchise in 1972. There are 137 or so of them now across our UK. BASED in Gants Hill roundabout Shopping Parade about 100 yards South from the Gants Hill Underground Station on the Central Line. The Red line on the London Underground Map. Food is well prepared tasty and cooked properly. Reasonably priced and a vast range of foods and not just fish and chips. No Cod, use Haddock as basic fish as Cod now being too expensive these days now we have left the EEC. Or rather since the Tories increased food prices by getting us thrown out of Europe re Brexit. Friendly and helpful staff ⚕️.

Best service by harpreet; food was fresh and good.

I been going to this shop for the last 6 months. The last 3 times the service and the fish has been of a low standard. Is a shame I have to find a new place. Have not been happy with their quality. I have spoken to them and pointed it out but no change.

Really good fish and chips. Nice family players as well as individual meal deals. I like that they are not using the awful drinks brands and have a good selection of alternate brands. Service was absolutle brilliant, friendly and accommodating. Fatima and Keesha served us really well. Ensuring we knew what we ordered, offering cost effective platter deals and above all: Service with a Smile. Both are a great asset to the business.

Can understand maybe late because of traffic but it was absolutely freezing cold wouldn't order from here again

So glad we finally found a super clean Fish and Chips place. The fish was so fresh and flaky. The sides were excellent too. I’d recommend the fish bites and chilli cheese bites. Can’t wait to come back 😋

Really good food, tasty and fresh. Service here is outstanding. Shout out to fatima behind the counter. Really friendly and hospitable. How customer service should be. I've also previously ordered big work orders from here from the owner Aisha and again super hospitable and friendly. Prices are really good too compared to standard fish and chip shops. One room for improvement however, throw in a dip or two with every meal. 1 dip should be a given at least, charging for every dip isn't a good look for a fast food outlet in gants hill. That aside, great place to eat. Thank you.

I have ordered from this fish and chip shop a couple of years ago and the food was nice, today however the food was not nice at all. The fish was bland and tasteless and very oily, the sausage had no flavour, the burgers were dry the chips dry and tasteless, the curry sauce was also flavourless and was a tiny pot for the price.The food did arrive hot. We bought the buy one get one free deals from uber eats website, but it was still expensive and just not worth the money we paid. The food has left our mouths with an oily feeling/taste it's very unpleasant. Overall we will not be ordering from here in the future and I would not recommend to others.

I ordered food from this restaurant through Uber Eats, and the entire experience was an absolute disaster. It took over an hour for the delivery driver to arrive at my address, which was frustrating in itself. However, the situation worsened when the driver handed me the wrong food. When I called the restaurant to report the issue, the staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of addressing the mistake, the manager flat-out refused to refund my money and told me to contact Uber Eats. When I reached out to Uber Eats, they claimed the restaurant insisted the order was delivered correctly—which was completely untrue and based on lies. The lack of accountability and customer service from both the restaurant and its management was appalling. I strongly advise against ordering from this place. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for better food and service.

Food was fresh to order and quality of the food was surprisingly really good. Service was fast and professional. The eating areas were presented very clean and tidy and a very nice atmosphere. 10/10!!

Wasn’t good at all I brought the special fish and chips combo , the oil they used it was old they didn’t even filter the oil the fish and chips made me sick yesterday night I Vommited and had acidity for whole night , worst experience Never Going to Order again. I was looking for somewhere local that does decent fish and chips and that's exactly what I got. The food is very nice and the staff are polite. They were busy with orders whilst I was in shop and I can see why. I had special cod and chips which gives a larger portion, very filling. I think I'll go for the regular size next time

Terrible food. After eating you would get an awful taste plus greasy affect left in mouth. Never again!!! Whoever goes there is wasting their money.

I usually frequent Brothers Fish and Chips as it’s conveniently located at the top of my road. However, while driving past Gants Hill, I decided to pop into Mother Hubbard’s, especially since they had a tempting offer. I’m so glad I did! The service was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the staff were welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The level of care and professionalism really stood out. As for the food, it was nothing short of amazing. My kids—who are notoriously picky eaters and usually very loyal to our local spot—were blown away. They declared it "the best fish and chips they’ve ever had," which, coming from them, speaks volumes. Food was pretty good. Ordered their large fish and chips. The fish was haddock. It was a really good portion, enough to feed 2-3 people. The spicy chicken sandwich was amazing. Very flavoursome and a really good portion. The dynamite wings and chips was disappointing. It was simply normal fried wings just dipped into some sauce. Wasn't great at all.

Decent pies. Large chips not as big of a portion as other chip shops. One portion of chips also missing from order.

I hate fish but they do the fish so well i will genuinely eat theirs, consistent and really good quality!

The chips are great, good fish size with a special meal, batter didn't impress me or it was fried in old oil. Chicken fillets are also quite decent but they are mini, order 4+ units for a full meal.

Ordered chips a few times - it was Nothing special. Also the vinegar doesn’t taste like traditional fish and chip shop taste more like the sarsons malt vinegar.

placed a big order here last night, for grilled fish, chicken strips, regular fish and spicy fish. food was very satisfying! placed a phone order which meant food was ready on arrival. chicken was juicy and flavourful. fish was crispy and fresh.

food had a bitter taste oil clearly needs changing, chips aren't great local chippy's are so much nicer, batter is tasteless, no sauces given at all, fish usually comes with tartar sauce and some other sauce with the chips as standard, good sized fish bites, but due to the low quality of chips and lack of hygiene of oil won't be buying again.

I ordered fish and chips with sauces. The sauces which I paid for never arrived the food was disgustingly oily. Would never buy here again.

Why didn't we know about this establishment before now? They supplied the best fish & chips we've had in a long time. The menu said Large fish and chips. They actually meant it. The fish was beautifully cooked and we loved the chips. We'll be back
