Mother Hubbard in Leeds

Got the battered chips and they were just crap. Was hoping for some battered chips like you get in the west midlands but no. They didn't taste nice and were over priced

Today to describe as average would be generous. The fish are much smaller, food not hot, overall disappointing. My review of years ago was 5 star, used to be my favourite. Such a shame.

Service review. Rang up ordered jumbo fish and chips with curry sauce, salt and vinegar. Turned up and was advised salt and vinegar has already been done, curry sauce is in the bag. Came home to realise no salt and vinegar no curry sauce. Rang up and was told manager isnt in, didnt even understand what my issue was just manager isnt in. Next time we will give you a curry sauce. I mean how difficult is it just to be sincere? It wasnt busy, no excuse for whats happened. No excuse for this joke of a service. The manager owner is always on point, but some of his workers let him down good and proper. Order number 7518. Hope this is read out to the workers

Visited Mother Hubbard’s recently for some fish and chips, and the experience was far from pleasant. The person serving didn’t bother to inform me that I could add a drink before I paid, which would have helped as they have a £5 card minimum. There is no legal reason for such a limit, and it just felt like a way to inconvenience customers. On top of that, the attitude of the staff member was absolutely disgusting—rude and dismissive. Definitely won’t be coming back. Customer service here needs serious improvement.

Mother hubbards is the best fish and chips shop in Leeds and with amazing service. I’m currently working at mother hubbards. They have amazing staff and they have a great Engaging with the customers they make feel comfortable.

False advertising, the picture shows mushy peas and beans and a can of drink with sauce packets, plastic cutlery, napkins and wet wipes with the fish and chips. But they only sent the fish and chips.

Delivery driver was quick and polite. Tasty fish and chips but ignored request for salt & vinegar and drink was warm. Also no cutlery or napkins included. Service & presentation is better in Bradford.

Outstanding fish & chips. Very enjoyable experience. The fish is freshly cooked and batter on the fish is light and delicious. The fries are nicely cooked. Lots of other food and side dishes available too. Plenty of seats. Parking spaces available outside the shop. You can also order online on their own app which is a good feature. The staff are super nice and polite. Highly recommend trying it

Music like a disco tech. Way too loud. Asked for fish bites. Was charging me for chips. I said I only asked for fish bites - was abruptly told I had to say no chips. Erm, I asked for fish bites and no mention of chips love!

Nice fish and chips but on two occasions ordered over the phone Special fish and chips, when I arrived home and looked at the fish it was a standard fish, I was not happy. Now Mother Hubbards we know you can do better than that !!I reported the matter and they promised to rectify on my next visit. Visited again 1/08/2024 same issue trying to sell a standard fish for a Special Fish, come on this is disgusting practice. Will try and place my order elsewhere. Gone down in my estimation.

Asked for special fish it tasted ok but size was just normal nothing special about it in future I will just order normal and pay less

best fish/chips in town. been going here for years and staff service is impeccable.

The chips were NOT cooked through and I ordered 2 cans of pop which we didn't receive.

the chips were cold and so was the pie and the pie was dry and the chicken tasted like fish really disappointed as I usually get fish and chips and enjoy however I had to throw the pie and made a cup butty with the cold chips

Nice mom and pap like fast food for fish and chips. I am visiting England and couldn't leave without having fish and chips. I was treated very well.

Was recommended to try mother hubbards fish and chips for the 1st time. Im so glad i did. Crispy golden batter haddock fish and lovely soft chips. Staff were super helpful couldnt do enough for me. Thankyou for the best fish and chips ive had.

Home delivery disappointment! After paying a very expensive amount for fish and chips, the least I'd expect is to have my food packaged correctly. Once I open the partially covered food, I found the fish broken in two pieces, it was very oily and overcooked to the point it smelt burnt. The greasy chip were equally unappetising. Such a disappointment and definitely not worth second chance.

I placed an order over the phone and the woman was really polite and said that I could use my blue light discount off the bill. I asked the manager if he had taken the discount off the bill. He said “cmon bro it’s not covid anymore”. I responded with “I’ll just ignore you said that” he replied “I’ll just ignore you said that, this is my business and I’m the manager”. I continued to not respond to his childish ways. I asked have you taken the doscoint off just before I was about to pay and he said “just this once as it’s you I’ll take it off”. Really poor customer service and thought he was funny, but was just rude and childish for an adult.

Is the curry sauce or ice-cream sauce 😒

Went to this branch yesterday was absolutely not good the service the food I’m not the one to complain but me and my friend went there yesterday evening his fish give him stomach issues. And my fish had a bone I didn’t see and now it’s in my throat trying to get it down so not happy at all.

Food was okay but my 3 year old daughter was refused access to use the toilets. We were told they do not have any public toilets even though it is a legal requirements, for cafes with seating areas. I have every reason to report them. We were not even told if there is a nearby toilet, the lady on the counter did not seem to care and just said we don't have any toilets

Hit nd miss, but as I collect for the family and live a couple miles from the shop gonna give it a miss from now on. Normally it’s ok, some times its a bit dead and other times really good but today the size of my ‘super jumbo’ was shocking. I would have ordered more food if I knew that that’s all there is in the box. Not good enough. No consistency. Shame really…

my food was good and on time, however i wasn't very happy with the delivery driver leaving me a message on my phone blaming me and that he had to wait 5 min, what rubbish, the delivery driver rang my number i did answer it, he then knocked on my door, my daughter went to open the door but no one was there. i then look out from the window and saw the delivery driver is sat in his car. i sent my daughter again and this time she had to go and knock on his car window to get his attention.

The driver sat in his car and rang me from there and expected us to walk to his car for the food. We live 14 floors up so my partner went down to get the food and called the driver over. We tipped him £1 before we knew what a bad delivery driver he was. Next time there will be no tip unless the driver delivers to our door

£12 in total and it didn’t even come with chips are the photo displays the sausage with chips on here and also on Uber eats. Shocking to pay that price for two sausages and curry sauce!!

Extremely overpriced for what it is, came lukewarm and quite frankly I’ve had a lot better for a lot less money so Il not bother again

Walk-in to order for takeaway. Whilst they were busy, the manager was very professional in making sure to set expectations that it would be a 10 minute wait. I was pleased with the quality of the fish and chips which made it well worth the wait.

My go to place for fish and chips

It’s not as good as it used to be. Got a super jumbo fish, battered chips and a pot of gravy. The battered chips were very battered and heavy. The fish batter was too soggy. A bit disappointing, normally it’s better.

Too expensive for the quality provided. This is the first and last time I try this take away.

The food tasted great, some chips we're abit mushy, great service, the food affordably priced too, was worth coming from my home town just for this (a 28 min train ride) would do again

So the special & chips is just a big fish? The photos indicate it’d come with the beans and peas in the photo, yet it was just a big fish with a few chips.. waste.

Chips were 'unusual'. Very hard ends. Perhaps were double cooked, cooked earlier, or an unusual potato type. Might suit someone else.

It was nice , but expensive. My usual chippy was closed , but York road fisheries are gorgeous and a lot cheaper, so will definitely stick to them , but this was ok

We order fish and chip takeaway regularly, always fresh. Staff are polite. Fish is very greasy and soggy bothered time we get home though tastes nice

Lovely firm sweet white fish and got chips l didn't order but ate lol Nice mushy peas not soapy Big Bread cake...LUSH

food was lovely, great quality and really hot, good portion sizes and came very quickly which was great! the only bad thing was the mushy peas as they were texturally off and looked slightly grey in colour but the rest of the food was great so no complaints really. will order again!

Really fresh . Batter on the scampi and the fish bites was nice and crisp. Even got extra chips with the scampi and they threw in some free sauces. Not greasy at all brilliant value for money

First time using this chippy, not many local fish n chip shops open on a Sunday. After reading the reviews took a ten min drive, arrived to a bright and busy shop. A warm welcome and a short wait for freshly cooked proper Yorkshire fish n chips. Will definitely be back and would whole heartedly recommend. Great portions, quality and price. Thanks 👍

I visit Leeds often and this is one of my favourite Fish and Chips restaurants there. The fish is very tasty and good portion size, even for the regular one. Highly recommended 👌

Definitely the best in West Yorkshire! I travel from far for these fish and chips. Portions are of a generous size, freshly and cleanly made. Staff are incredibly welcoming every single time I go! Thank you to the manager and all the staff who work here!

Some of the order was missing. Called to make shop aware only to be told by young lady they dont deliver and put the phone down on me. When i tried calling back my call was ended your side. When i finally got through the lady blamed the driver for delivering wrong item. Now waiting on missing item. Totally awful experience this evening

Most deliciously battered fish - light and crisp yet not greasy. Big serving of fat chips. Divine. The owner was also so gracious and hospitable. Thank you for a great yummy experience at Mother Hubbard's.
