just rude behaviour, got an order wrong and couldn't fathom it was them not listening despite hearing things wrong 4 times previously, gave regular milk instead of an alternative and insisted thats what i asked for, i am allergic to regular milk i would never ask for it??? they hadn't even offered regular milk as an option so neither of us had said regular milk in that situation - all that fuss and it was a really poorly made drink - that attitude doesn't work on someone with dietary requirements if they behave like that with an allergy i hope someone who's diabetic stays away

Can’t understand the poor reviews. We found the (2) staff, cook and barista, super helpful and friendly. Our two dishes were top notch, coffee excellent. We’re from London and if Morher was in Shoreditch it would be ‘stsnding room only’.

Staff so rude it's almost funny. The place has a great look, perfect for what I come in for (Work on laptop) and has huge potential but its same story every time I come. Pretentious hipster staff who cleary are only nice to "their kind" of people / friends. Shame.

Had a really disappointing and honestly unpleasant experience at Mother Espresso yesterday. Went in looking for a bowl of soup, left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome after receiving rude service by a male member of staff. The waiter was cold, snappy and I wish I hadn’t gone through with my food order and stayed to be honest because I felt unwelcome for the remainder of my visit. For example, upon leaving I took my dirty dishes up to the counter to save him the effort of coming to collect them - he turned to me and muttered ‘just leave them on the side’ before turning his back to me in such a rude and almost annoyed tone that I almost asked if I had done something to upset/offend him. This member of staff honestly gave off the impression you had done something wrong by coming in to the cafe - so bizarre and never experienced anything like it before! I must also mention that the soup was really not great. There are much nicer places to grab a bowl of soup in Liverpool. As I asked for a vegan version of the soup, I was told the feta would be removed - totally fine. However, when the soup arrived the feta had been instead replaced with far too much grated vegan cheese which really ruined the meal. I think that as vegan cheese is an acquired taste they should ask whether you would like the feta to be subbed and only a little sprinkling would suffice. However, there was so much added to mine that it sat like a coagulated mound in the middle of my soup reaching the bottom of the bowl like a gluey clump. It also totally overpowered the taste and you couldn’t taste anything but vegan cheese. Not great or yummy at all. Honestly, avoid this place. Not worth it and you’ll leave in a bad mood and resentful for parting with your money.

The chef has an attitude problem. He thinks nurses are over paid and should earn less than £28k a year. He says all this openly on his social media accounts that he links to his workplace.

Potential to be a nice place, however just incredibly overpriced for what they offer. Very strange layout. Coffee did not taste very good, and was very small for what i’d paid. If you enjoy sitting on uncomfortable seats whilst surrounded by pretentious people, then this coffee shop is perfect for you.

Went for breakfast. Paid 13 pounds for french toast. 1 small slice. Sitting in awkward seats. Terrible. Would not recommend

I love this place and the coffee is excellent. BUT the staff have been quiet rude both times I've been. They seem very unengaged and I know people have made similar comments. Liverpool is a friendly city and you're ruining our rep :(

Stopped in for coffee and breakfast. Best coffee we have had in a while and the breakfast choices are large and much more than just the usual bacon sarnie. The food was freshly made and very tasty. Would highly, highly recommend.

Arrived at 10.05am to single person in store with a glass of water, so we presumed we would be served quickly. The four of us sat for 2-3 mins waiting and could just hear the waiter grinding coffee and not even acknowledging us….. we went to hunt for four menus with the grinding coffee waiter maintaining his back to us…. We asked a question and experienced a reply ‘wait a second’…. Then the grinder finally stopped and we asked ‘do we need to order here after looking at the menu?’…. ‘Yes’ was was the curt response….. we sat down for a further two minutes reviewing the menu and then deciding that we were not convinced out three breakfast would have been created to the quality of what we were expecting, so we left….. Can’t comment on the food, coffee or cakes but….

Popped in for a quick coffee which was nice.It’s just a shame that the surly staff couldn’t be as nice!! Perhaps a lesson in how to speak to people could be in order.

Had past this place a few times, and was looking forward to giving it a visit. The interior is pretty disappointing, very stark, a shell of a building that’s had a minimal fit out. Menu is basic, and when I went to view the cakes and pastries at the counter they had flies crawling over them. Opted for a sausage and egg sandwich from the kitchen, which was nice ( but given the front of house I was a little worried about hygiene ) Coffee menu is unusual, so opted for an English morning tea that had zero taste ( paid £2.90 for dishwater) Staff were not engaged and had no interest in what they were doing, and had no clue what was on a VERY basic menu, Overall a pretentious place that does not deliver. I wouldn’t brother visiting again.

This is a great space, really cool / calm / soothing; great place to work and meet; great selection of drinks and coffees. Food offer is pretty boring - the bakes on the counter are great but the hot food offer is pretty dated and uninspiring - I always have to look at it for ages until I can find something I want to have. The staff/service is weird - there's always an air of them being there just to do someone a favour rather than being permanent staff/committed to their job. I come quite a lot and there's always a mess-up - they get an order wrong, forget an order, last week they gave the guy next to me my order and told him it was his and only realised after so mine took forever, today they 'forgot' to put the avocado on a girl's avocado toast order. The staff are pretty cold too. There's just none of what makes Liverpool Hospo great in evidence here. They're not rude as such - just definitely not friendly, not that helpful and quite aloof. Also just a little thing but in terms of accessibility - the menu is really hard to read due to the colours chosen and the shoddy plastic overlay.

Have been a few times, mainly because the coffee is top notch, but the staff are uniformly rude, unfortunately. They rarely make eye contact and when you make any kind of request that requires any kind of effort they typically sigh and roll their eyes. Judging from a few different reviews here, I’d say it’s not just me. Management need to do something about it. Good customer service keeps you coming back. After an encounter on my last visit where a member of staff was extremely rude to a friend of mine and created a bad atmosphere as a result, it’s the final straw, I won’t be going back.

Served at the till by a woman who had no pleasantries, was very unhelpful and stared at me like I was dumb when I asked a question. Vibe inside is very odd and dark. Avoid at all costs!!

This is the third time I’ve been here, the first time was 3 years a go and everything was amazing, then second time I came service was great, but food wasn’t but the guy working said the chef had walked out. Then 3 years later...

Couldn’t disagree more with some of the reviews on here-loved the vibe of the place, staff were friendly and the freshly cooked breakfasts we had were delicious! Will definitely be returning when next in Liverpool.

Handed red hot coffee in a cup with no handle ?? Not even offered a spoon or sugar. Had to go and get one myself. This is the sort of thing you see before a business folds. If your staff aren’t interested…get new staff.

This place is lovely. Great food and nice service. The woman who complains there is no handle with her cup needs to get a life. Go to Starbs or some other basic place if you want a boring coffee. 🙄

Popped in here for Filter Pour Over was actually bang on, Twice in January and had the finest Sausage roll I have tasted in a while. And spoke the the lad who was serving me and could help me enough. Because Aeropress doesn't really cut it at other places.Thanks will be back soon

Nice place with area for working but unfortunately their filter coffee machine was broken so no free refills just small coffees served in a glass without a handle.
