It must have been a couple of years since the last time we were here but the cafe is just as good as it was then. It is light and airy with plenty of seating, both inside and outside. Even though it was late when we dropped in, very close to closing time, the friendly staff were quite happy to serve us and our freshly made drinks were up to the usual good NT standard and tasted good.

3 out of 5 patrons were unable to get their food of choice. (Run out). Presentation was extremely poor and the quality mediocre. I felt embarrassed in front of my family that this was my choice.

If I could give 0 I would. We were kept waiting to be served and there were 3 workers behind the counter and only one person serving. When it was my turn to be served my greeting was ignored and no apology for the fact I had to wait so long to be served. I have come across this kind of treatment before and I only can say the people involved were all racist. So you have been warned.

A light, airy cafe in very pleasant surroundings. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The snacks and drinks were up to the usual good National Trust standards. Plenty of seating, both inside and outside. Just the place to drop into after a walk round the gardens and estate.

This pub, in a rural setting just outside Tonbridge, has a lot going for it - spacious beamed interior, beautiful gardens, huge car park and friendly efficient service. The menu has a good variety of dishes. I had a cod burger which was delicious: light crispy batter with succulent fish in a brioche bun simply dressed with mayo and lettuce. It sounds simple but was so good I'd like to go back and eat it again tomorrow! As well as the normal menu, on weekdays you can also choose from two or three course set menus, which seemed good value. The two beers on tap were from Tonbridge brewery and Kent brewery and were both in excellent condition. If you go, best to first check out their website, as they are sometimes closed for weddings.

Absolutely love this place I think it’s so important to support local business rather than the larger chains we see in our town. I love the coffee and embrace the amazing feel and atmosphere of this awesome place. Well done for getting so much right and really helping the community. A real gem.

I have visited the Friars many times over the years, very rarely do I use the tea room as years ago I had an awful experience with the staff being rude to us there. After what must be 7 years I thought we would try again. Sadly the staff were still rude and disinterested. The food is basic and good, the environment is of course wonderful so it’s such a shame that the staff can’t make that little bit of effort to make someone’s day. This is a place with many visitors after all. Of a team of 4 that I could see, 3 were looking in their phones and the lady that served us could just about be bothered to talk to us. I’ll give it a go in another 7 years maybe 👎🏼
