Mosedales in Newark and Sherwood

Mosedale’s staff welcomed me and my dog (Bruce) with a kind smile as soon as we entered. A wide variety of filled rolls and paninis was on offer. I must recommend treating yourself to a superb Carrot Cake! All in all I would definitely recommend!

Just in Southwell for a couple of hours and stopped here for lunch. A perfect low cal full plate of chicken salad! Superb customer service too.

We had spent the night in a B&B which, despite its description, didn’t provide breakfast so we needed somewhere to eat. On a Sunday morning, just about everywhere was closed but we did find Mosedales open. The fridge showed a vast quantity of items and there was an interesting selection of cakes on top. The menu on the wall showed that a cooked breakfast was available so we sat down for a closer read. “You need to order from the counter” barked the Manageress causing us to leap to our feet.. Unlike my husband I didn’t want a cooked breakfast so, surveying the vast quantity of items on display I enquired if there were any croissants or pastries available. Manageress barked sharply back at me that there weren’t, they had nothing like THAT. Leaving me feeling I’d asked for the equivalent of stuffed crocodile! Anyway husband ordered the full English and I settled for a hot chocolate. Then his breakfast arrived, minus the hash brown listed. “We’ve run out” he was told, which he should have been advised when ordering and offered extra of something else. Initially it looked at though there were six sausages on the plate. Closer inspection showed three sausages which had been cut in half lengthways before cooking, ensuring they were nice and dry! Bacon was bacon pieces rather than rashers and the tinned tomatoes had been ladled on without draining the excess juice. All topped with an unexpected piece of buttered toast which husband kindly gave to me! WHY couldn’t I have been offered toast? Do I recommend? No, Manageress unfriendly and unhelpful and they don’t appear to have someone who can cook Will I go back? No, but we’re not likely to be in the area again anyway.

We frequently visit this small and extremely friendly village bakery, travelling approximately 8 miles each time to do so, as the bread and food served here is really first class! Each year we order our Christmas pork pies from Mosedales as, quite simply, they are the best we have ever tasted! Thank you to all at Mosedales for your wonderful coffee and sausage roll on a Saturday morning (again the best sausage rolls you can buy!) and for being the best little bakery out.

Delicious cakes with a tasty cup off of hot coffee - what more would you want? Well this little cafe has a wide choice of lunches to choose from - gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available. Based inthe centre of Southwell it is so easy to find. There are only a small number of tables available but it's worth the wait. Well worth a visit.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Fantastic top quality bacon sandwiches, top of the range illy coffee, cakes to die for and the sausage rolls are a different levels to anywhere I have ever been! Very reasonably priced and the staff are absolutely lovely!! Will be back every week :)

What a gorgeous little bakery! You can smell the freshly baked bread from down the street so I doubt anyone will be able to resist popping in. I have never had a better bacon sandwich, the bread is so soft and fresh. Service is excellent, and everyone is super friendly and chatty. The menu is incredible, with almost everything you could imagine! Sausage rolls are to die for, fresh pasties and cakes, my favourite Illy coffee (and all great value for money). It’s a shame I don’t live nearer.. I would be here everyday!

Small coffee bar with limited room inside and out. Nice generous cups of Illy coffee, with a warm welcome and a sausage for dogs.

we went last week,for the first time.we will not go back,i read a few reviews which were not good. we went to see if reviews were fair.not worth the money, staff not friendly or smiles. customer service slow and poor.other places nearby a lot better.

i was recommend to try mosedales by a few people and i was not disappointed.... i wouldn't say it is the cheapest place around but its nice

It was empty and we were told we weren’t allowed to stay in and sit down as there were a few of us and they didn’t want us taking up a whole table in case other people came in to buy something. It was empty and we were only there for a coffee. Not very welcoming at all. Felt very awkward after that. A different time we went, a different lady served us and she was lovely!

This is a terrific quintessential English coffee shop / bakery very friendly family run business illy coffee which is a plus it’s very cosy with 3 tables inside and 2 outside you can get a full English upto about midday the lady owner never is a female basil faulty and really quite funny it’s one reason it draws custom in must go to place in Southwell if you can get a seat

This is a wonderful little bakery and cafe. Only has a few covers but offers take away as well. Dogs are certainly welcome in the front area unlike many of the other cafes in Southwell!! I had the Lemon Pepper Chicken which was delicious, my wife's steak bake was also fantastic large and very meaty. This place is excellent value for money and the staff are friendly and efficient.

Though small, this café offers loads of choice. The food is delicious, portions generous, and it's great value for money. It's a relaxed space, with a few seats indoors and outdoors. The lady who served me was lovely. This is a great place to grab lunch in Southwell to eat in or take away.

Have been going to this cafe for many years, and decided it needed a review. Good variety of warm and cold food, some pre-prepared much made to order. The pasties and Sausage rolls are baked on site and are a great snack or meal, with drinkable coffee and usually friendly atmosphere.

On a trip to Southwell this morning we have just visited Mosedales and eaten the best breakfast we have ever had in a cafe. Everything was well cooked and delicious. They also do a fantastic range of take away lunches as well as there eat-in menu. Everything looked so fresh and tempting. I bought a pasty to take home and cook later. YUM and many thanks . we will be back.

I have just left a review for the new cafe in Maythorne so thought it only fair to give you guys one. The young girl that served was excellent, polite, friendy and most accommodating. Your food was fresh and very tasty, I have been before and the standards are always high. Others could learn from you. Keep up the good stuff. Thanks.

The food was nice but spectacularly overpriced for the small portions we received. The tiny rolls and lack of salad (unlike as advertised) left us still hungry. Sadly disappointed!

Stopped in and had two bacon rolls and they were the nicest I have had in a while, lots of bacon and decent slightly toasted rolls. Friendly and fast service, can not do better for a breakfast or hot roll in the area.
