Lovely cafe with staff to match but the coffee was as weak as you know what which is a shame because the cafe itself is really nice. A new coffee machine required!

First impressions and customer service count. Counter staff most miserable, unfriendly I've come across. Pity cos the food is lovely and coffee is very good.

It is worth seeking this excellent cafe out ! Far better value than many places to eat in Southwell . Friendly , welcoming staff and really nice food . I had penne pasta with roast vegetables in a well flavoured chilli dressing and my husband enjoyed a generous plate of scrambled eggs on nice brown toast , followed by apple pie . Vegan diets catered for , and a ( covered if necessary ) dog friendly area outside .

Having got shocking non service at a nearby cafe we found this one close by and so glad we did. Great prompt caring courteous service was received! We had the vegan Paninis which were stunning, very different to what I'm used to but perfect for breakfast and really well presented, nice coffee too. I know where in town I will come back too! Would be great if there were another vgn choice or 2 but happy here anyway.

Good quality food served for full english breakfast (even the sausages, which often let down an english). We had a saturday breakfast here as the Crown Hotel does not do any food (a hotel?) and were very happy with the ingredients and the service. Location convenient for the market etc.

Had a drink and scone with friends . Excellent coffee and home made scones . It’s in an ideal location for meeting up with friends .

Tasty fresh food served quickly. Lots of gluten free options too. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating for dogs. We would definitely eat here again.

Relaxing place to go that offers the real Italian experience, as it's run by an Italian family that clearly have a passion for their own cuisine. Opted for lunch and coffee - a delicious panini and cappuccino. Great value for money for a typical taste of Italy. Was also nearly tempted by their own delicious Italian ice cream but will leave that until our next visit.

The whole experience was warm welcoming and friendly. Good value for money and good food. The young male waiter who was serving sang and danced his way around the restaurant. I could do with some of what he has.

Beautiful little cafe we stopped at while on our random town visit, staff were amazingly friendly while we didn't eat the coffee was spot on!!

Southwell's go-to place for a takeaway coffee, and no charge for an extra shot. Astonishingly good blueberry muffins. Great for lunch. Lovely staff.

It’s such a shame that this cafe lets their brilliant coffees down with their rude staff. Will not be returning again unfortunately.

Lovely, warm, polite, genial staff. Very clean café. Great big pot of lemon and ginger tea. I had cream cheese and olive sandwich and a slice of lemon and almond cake. Yum. I would revisit as it was a pleasant experience.

A cafe with a continental buzz, (Italian owned I think), and full of local people having breakfast. Other cafes in the area don't open until 9.00 am. This opens at about 07.30, so if you are staying at the Crown, this is the one for you. No cereals (as far as I could see), but egg and bacon, bacon rolls etc, toast.

Excellent value English breakfast and scrambled egg with salmon. Friendly staff, clean premises. One of the few cafe's open early morning. Recommended.

Coffee certainly not as good as it used to be. Very disappointed. Won’t be visiting again.

Grabbed a gluten free breakfast sandwich and cappuccino to take away. The gluten free bread was really good quality and the customer service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I had a tasty bowl of carrot and corriander soup with 3 small slices of warm bread and butter. Could have done with a couple more slices of bread to balance out to soup.

Superb coffee shop with an excellent choice of cakes, paninis, coffees and more. Service was first class and a very pleasant spot to while away some time in this lovely town. It is that good I've been every day during my week break in the area, changing my cycling routes to make sure I ended up at Alfresco.

Owned by an Italian family, this cafe produces a range of Italian coffees made and prepared with perfection. In addition to that are a range of cakes and snacks, plus breakfasts and lunches (including delicious home made Italian pizzas). Plenty of seating indoors plus extra outside to the rear of the cafe. overall a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Drinks and snacks are also available for take-away if requested. Can be very busy on Saturday mornings.

I had the Pizza and pot of tea for a quick lunch. The food was fresh and delicious and the service impeccable. It was lovely to see Maria who I've not seen for 8 years and she still remembered me. Great place for a coffee and a catch up

Amazing people thank you for helping to warm some milk up as he's autistic and disabled so hard to find somewhere I rushed in to there shop and the lady said yes we can I'm so great full for this thank you also wish I could of stopped for some food as the place was very clean an the food looked lovely. So will be coming back to try some as it all looked so yummy

Best coffee in Southwell! Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Never have a problem getting the kids of their computers to come here - lovely cakes, milkshakes, hot chocolate!

We just wanted something simple to eat and drink and came upon this place. The weather was glorious and we sat outside. We had ham sandwiches and a drink and and it was spot on. Very fast friendly and efficient service and would come here again. The price was very reasonable.

Full English breakfast was lovely and wife had a tuna salad that she loved, staff and service were brilliant

Even in miserable lock down Maurizio greets you with a wonderful happy smiling face and the best coffee in Southwell by far. He's always there around 7am baking his home made scones, having joyous banter with his Brothers. It's the cleanest and best run place as well. He will definitely make a great husband for one of the local ladies he charms as well. Keep up the good work matey!!

Good food and quick service would like to see flora made available to expand vegan options as only butter was available. Vegans will travel a long way to be catered for 👍

Omg I visited this cafe today as a first as I usually go to west Bridgford cafe and well I wasnt disappointed!! The paninis are the best around infact I wont go anywhere else for a panini, the Male staff are always so friendly and engage with you I enjoy there story's of italy so much, never had a problem unlike some of these comments I have been going to alfresco for some time now mapperly west bridgford and never ever experienced what these reviews are saying maybe its other cafe owners who write such bad reviews or people with attitude problems themselves as I have met most of the staff over the years including the women and they have always gone beyond for me, nothing is to much trouble for them!! Well done alfresco keep up the hard work and I'll be in for my panini fix soon

Avoid this establishment if you want an enjoyable drink and experience! The male staff member, who I assume is the owner has a MAJOR attitude problem. By the looks of the reviews too, it does not appear I am the only one who has asked noticed this.

I love visiting this lovely cafe in Southwell. It has a delightful little patio at the rear where you can sit in the sunshine and enjoy coffee overlooking the sunlit Indie shops and boutiques in bull yard. It’s a sweet cafe and the coffee is superb!

It was an excellent breakfast as Guest House we were in didn't provide. Only thing is couldn't get a strong cup of tea

Their panini special is simply the nicest panini I have ever eaten. Will definitely return if in the area.

Left my expensive glasses on the table phoned to see if they had stored them in the back the rude man very quickly said no didn't try to check with other staff or have a look very rude and unhelpful

the website says that you do cannoli so I went to both of your cafes today and neither of them do there. At the small site i was told he had no idea about the website and never been to your other site so he had no idea and also when I told him it was on the website he wasn't interested and at the other site the gentleman just laughed about the cannoli and also the kitchen was closed which also wasn't on the website I feel your website needs updating as it's false advertisement that you're selling a rare Sicilian dessert, I also traveled 50 miles to both of your sites today just to have a cannoli. I did have the tomato and mozzarella salad at the West bridgford cafe and that was really nice. I didn't appreciate the attitude of the male member of staff who serve me so I walked out also why is the kitchen shut when there's no advertisement for that on their website I was told I could have a drink and that was it will not ever be returning which is a shame because the menu looks quite nice. also if they don't do cannoli is why are there pictures of cannoli is on their website for something that they're very rarely do

Limited choice of food but also offers a takeaway. The mochachino was very good but the risotto was under seasoned and bland. You order as you enter then sit down and the food soon arrived. The staff were pleasant enough. Didn't go outside as it wasn't obvious there was an outside - the building fronts a road.

Popped in for a Sunday morning and this place is great, I had a hot choc and the rest had coffee. the staff friendly and helpful.

I was disgusted by the attitude I received. A couple of people at tables , I was sat minding my own business, I WOULD have gone on to buy a drink but , there were no menus on the table , I was there for 5 mins , I needed to settle as I’m recovering from surgery and I was asked if I was ordering. I said not sure at the moment, I was then told if I wasn’t ordering anything to leave. They then said if I wanted something I could stay.i left . Other busines in town got my custom.

Went in for a quiet drink. The unfriendly staff watched me struggle to get my pushchair into the cafe then pounced on me to ask me to leave it out of my view by the door. Yes sure - just take £1000 cash out the till and leave it in your window why not join me in that stupidity?!Went to sit down, with my pushchair which was out of the way of everyone whilst being right next to me. The staff continued to eyeball me and continually kept asking me to move the pushchair and were extremely rude to my mother who went to order a drink. The worst of the lot, then proceeded to kick the pushchair when he had ample room to walk, run or dance past me, I’m guessing to prove a point. All it did was prove to me and everyone in the vicinity that he was as stupid as first thought lol! Well done you!I like to support local businesses where they deserve it. The arrogant individuals who work in this establishment have an attitude problem and I shall avoid this business like the plague and tell all my friends to as well.

We had the home made soup today for lunch. A large bowl full, served with lightly toasted bread and butter only £3.95....absolutely delicious and excellent value. All the food is home made, good value and delicious, we're very fortunate to have this superb cafe in Southwell.

The food here is amazing, waiting time not very short but definitely worth it. The atmosphere is lovely too and prices are low. The only thing to consider here is that they only accept cash payment.

Went in for bacon cobs/rolls only to be told by unfriendly and unsmiling staff that they only do sandwiches or paninis. Fair enough. So we ordered bacon sandwiches. 10 minutes later another unfriendly member of staff sidled up to us with the "sandwiches" - 2 bits of limp, plastic supermarket bread with 2 bits of limp, undercooked supermarket bacon stuck in the middle. £4 a pop. Unbelievable. We could have bought the whole pack of bacon and the loaf of bread for less. So what were we paying for?? Sitting in the grubby little cafe?? What a privilege. This lot don't have a clue what catering is about - find a charity box if you want to get rid of a tenner...
