Morty and Bob's, Kings Cross in Camden

We wanted an outside seat but all were reserved, however, we were told we could sit at one as long as we moved at 12. This was fine. We had breakfast and it was served quickly and was very good. Later that day, prior to catching our train home, we wanted to eat late lunch..a cocktail on their menu caught my eye at breakfast, so we ended up back there. Again, very good service.

Who ever owns this place needs to have a word with their manager as this place has what I would call sales prevention staff! My husband and I were basically turned away when we stopped by to have a drink because we were not having any food despite their website stating they are a bar as well as resturant. What was particularly bad was that the unpleasant man whom I assume was the manager proceded to tell us all the outside tables were resevered only after he asked if we were having food too and despite almost all the tables being empty!! We would have had a bottle of wine and probabaly some nibbles but guess they odnt want to take our money! Very very poor rude service and definitely will not be returning.

This place was a great find, tucked away in the lower tier of the Coal Drops Yard at Kings Cross. Lovely staff, chilled vibe and nice outside area. Only ate nibbles but the burgers and other food that came out looked lovely. We had Truffle Fries & Mac n Cheese balls to share and there was plenty of food. Well worth a visit.

It was nice to sit outside, I think that was the number one plus of this place. We all had steak sandwiches and they were cooked rare like we had asked, but there were little bits which were a bit stringy in it. The bread was nice and soft but we felt like we were being rushed as they wanted to close up and also my friend asked if she could use the bathroom and they said no as they already closed it - which was a shock when she was a paying customer! Would not particularly recommend, it was a 3/5 experience.

The food was ok but having already added a 12.5% service charge they then invited a further tip added to which a QR code at the table suggested it as a quick payment method. What it didn’t mention was that you are then charged an extra 99p for the privilege. We will not be returning.

Visited Morty & Bob's Kensal Rise location for lunch today. I do hope that the owner's grandfather is not looking down on this restaurant.....they may be dismayed. Not a well looked after establishment.......outside seating with lots of rubbish/leaves on the floor. Dirty teaspoon.... foul, dirty ash tray on table full of dog ends on table after last customer departed. Food only passable....If the toasted cheese sandwich is your signature dish it should be presented properly... not just dumped on a plate with half a pickled cucumber.. only brown sugar, no sweeteners... Very disappointing and lot's of the faults unnecessary in a properly monitored business. Tony London NW3.....

Very poorly, we have experienced the worst Sunday lunch ever, service was terrible, we were rushed into order from the minute we sat down, unpleasant to accommodate our requirements for the children on the table, no water glasses up until the end of the lunch, no apologies were made from her side to us in any given time, I am desperately hoping that the management department give proper training to the staff. We are not coming back.

Came here for lunch, the burger and Parmesan fries were some of the best I’ve ever had! Lovely service. Looking forward to returning :-)

Popped in for coffee and a light breakfast. We had the granola and the brunch bun, together with a couple of americanos. Impressed with the quality of the food, drinks and service. I also like the option to pay the bill by phone.

Great spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The food was delicious. The meal was splendid. The service is great too and the restaurant is amazing.

I visited here for a quick coffee and I thought the decor, staff and tasty coffee were great. A gentle suggestion for improvement though: my wife was a bit baffled that her coffee turned up in a glass without a handle. She ended up having to use a napkin to hold it rather than wait for it to cool down. Mugs/cups with handles please!

We enjoyed our family lunch at this restaurant. The menu had a good range of options, including some more healthy fare. The service was very good and the staff were very good. We dined outside on a sunny day and it was a very pleasant experience.

A wonderful little find amongst the regentrification of Kings Cross and in particular, the Coal Drop Yard. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had and my wife's smoked salmon dish was also delicious. Reasonably priced, too! Highly recommended.

Visited as part of a family weekend visit to London. Stayed near Kings Cross station so this place was ideal to visit. The staff are all so friendly and when my daughter didn't quite fancy anything on the menu they were able to do a kids pasta and cheese which she loved. I enjoyed the chicken schnitzel, which was so nice. Reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

The breakfast/brunch was delicious. Liked the steak sandwich, chicken schnitzel, cheeseburger & fries and everything bagel with smoked salmon.

The coffee was cold, the hot chocolate was tiny for £3.40 and tasted as if it was from sainsbury nesquik cocoa powder, it was flavourless and lukewarm as if it had been microwaved. Cakes and pastries were advertised on the menu and unavailable even though they are on the menu. Staff was unfriendly and unsmiling in particular Irene. Me and my family are very unsatisfied considering we paid £16 in total with £2 service charge...

Tucked away on the ground floor of Coal drop yard in King’s cross. Cosy place to be on a wet and windy night for casual dining with drinks. Atmosphere was nice allowing folk on tables to talk. Food was simple but well presented, hot and tasty. If we’re in the area again, we’ll certainly return. Good value at £55 for two for a two course with drinks.

I went here with a business colleague at the beginning of the week and treated him to breakfast. As we left, a member of staff came running out into the street, saying the payment hadn't gone through. I pointed out that on my banking app the payment showed as having gone through. They said they had refunded the payment and I needed to pay again, which - after getting an email confirming from them that I would be repaid immediately if the extra payment wasn't credited back the following day - I did, using a different card on a different bank. I was not refunded the next day, so got in contact by email. I got a reply from their "Head of Operations", who claimed they had refunded a card ending in 4 numbers that were not mine (I had given them the last 4 digits of my debit cards by email) but perhaps it could have been made to the card of my dining companion (spoiler alert - it wasn't) - and, 5 days later, I still haven't been reimbursed. It's not just being out of pocket to the tune of nearly £40 that I'm annoyed about, as much as the broken promises and hours wasted dealing with this whole affair. The most generous interpretation of their behaviour is one of staggering incompetence on their part. I suggest you avoid Morty and Bob's like the plague, unless your idea of fun is spending ages on the phone with your bank trying to get your money back.

I had dinner burger and chips. The food was good, warm and enough. The waitresses and barmaid were nice, smiling and willing to answer my questions. I had a great moment there.

Nice atmosphere, willing staff but quite a limited menu. We. Chose chicken Caesar which read well on the menu and, indeed, looked good on arrival. However it was dominated by Kale which is a rather unpleasant tough to eat salad substitute. It “filled out”the plate but added no pleasure value.

It had quite a rustic feel inside but since there were no tables available outside we secured a small one at the rear indoors. It’s not the largest of places and the exposed wooden tables didn’t give the cleanest of feels. For a brunch style meal there’s a good range of items on the menu, with the breakfast items available until midday. When ordering the Bob’s Brunch it was strange to be told poached eggs weren’t available, but I could have fried or scrambled instead. Once it arrived the toast was very well done which took the edge off an otherwise nice dish. The caesar salad was a good portion size with plenty of cheese. It’s certainly not the cheapest of options, especially for a quick brunch. Paying the bill wasn’t the easiest to obtain so we nearly took advantage of the QR code on the table to do so online - it shocked us that not only was this going to add 12% for service but also another charge for the convenience of paying by phone. I’m not sure I’d rush back, but for a more casual lighter bite in an area of more formal dining it’s an option.

Always nice to the discretionary service charge (12.5%) already added, then the additional option to tip, and then get charged a checkout fee of £1.19 to use their payment system. Food was very good. Venue is very nice, however there is only one toilet, better and nicer to the use public toilets at the coal drops yard. Pints are reasonable, but dodge the cans (£6 for a can of neck oil). Would go back, but not use their QR payment system (Sunday).

I only dropped in for a single drink whilst waiting for a friend to arrive, to have dinner down the road. Service was quick and friendly, and my cocktail was lovely. Nice venue in a good location.
