comment_iconOpinions

Firstly the track and trace social distancing was spot on. One of the best I have seen in a pub. The way the pub/cafe operates is a little strange however, well in my opinion anyway. We sat in the type of conservatory area of the pub and ordered drinks which is table service we asked about food and the waitress explained that the cafe did the food and we would have to order it from them as they was a separate business however, they may not know you are in here. Fair enough I went to the cafe asked for some menus and they said they would come and take our order, which they did. So all the staff that we spoke to were very friendly and polite. We ordered 7 meals one of the meals they got wrong but rectified this almost immediately. However, the two of the party who had 1/2 a chicken said it was a little dry and my daughter said her steak was well done when she asked for it to be medium. I have no doubt that had she mentioned this at the time they would probably of rectified that as well. My Ribs were spot on and no one else had any complaints. It's a small kitchen in the cafe and it was busy so I suppose all in all not bad.

Good friendly pub with outside seating, The pub does not have an inhouse kitchen and food is ordered from a cafe in the pubs outside area, The food is reasonably priced, but the portions are huge and you need to be prepared to try and negocaite with the owner. The pub is also dog friendly but dogs must be kept on the leash.Would we use it again? certainly

The management of this pub really try to make this pub the centre of Towyn's nightlife with weekend live entertainment, family friendly attitude, sports coverage and pub games. They have a cafe on the premises which, although not run by the pub, provides decent food which can be enjoyed in the beer garden or the pub lounge. The beers are well kept and the place is clean. Well worth a visit.

We are avid towyn regulars.we only live about half an hour away so find ourselves most weeks heading down the coast when the weather gets better.we visited again Mother's Day,did our normal routine, ended up at this pub as towyn was really quiet, and not having much of a choice of places to eat, seen the menu "treat your mums to a Sunday lunch"and thought, brilliant, why not. Well, it was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever tasted.we ordered 3 beef, one chicken.beef was tough, chicken looked like it had been slow cooked for hours on end and shrivelled down the bone.mash was served in a lump.carrots were from frozen,as was the cauliflower.peas were hard.yorkshire pudding was flat and not very nice.roast potatoes were not given on all dinners, neither was the mash.the only part that was ok was the gravy, and that was at a push.the food was really bad, and we are not fussy people at all.infact I never complain, but really felt I had to write this, in order that it gets seen and somebody sorts it out.we did tell the lady that the beef was tough, but she just said "il tell the chef"... on a good note my 4 year old did have the chicken nuggets chips and beans which did taste ok.but the ordered chocolate fudge cake afterwards was burnt.the mortons is an ok pub(minus the food) atmosphere can be good in here.but I will never eat here again, or drink the wine,as that didn't taste right either.i have no idea why the comments left on here for the food have been so good, all I can think of is that maybe we picked a bad day to eat here....maybe???if you are thinking of eating here be wary, would much rather grab a bag of chips from down the road!!!

Went into the little hut they call a grill and my 3 year old picked up a menu, the horrible little man from behind the counter shot out and snatched it off her! I asked to have a look as we wanted to order food, his reply.........."no, there are menu's outside" fair enough obviously he had decided for us that we were eating outside! Really should have walked out there and then but with a hungry 3&6 year old we just wanted something quick. After we ordered I took my girls to the shop next door for a toy while we waited for our food. When we came back the "waiter" said don't walk through the hut as I'm in and out with food, fair enough I said, I hadn't considered that, then the horrible little man in the back started shouting at me, yes don't walk through, walk around at the top of his voice scaring my children! Please bare in mind this was how we had entered the garden area in the first place and I had no idea there was another way to the back as it was our first (and last) visit. After we ate, very below average tasteless food, the "waiter" took our plates and reiterated why he told us not to walk through. I said yes I completely agree but did not appreciate being shouted at and told again by the very rude little man in the kitchen and I certainly won't be returning or recommend. He replied thats ok we've got 7 other cafe's and do ok!!! Well with that kind of business mind not for very long if thats how they treat their customers (see other reviews on rude staff) they made us feel like they where doing us a favour and we will never go near this poor excuse of a "grill" again!

Well i really want to rate this place higher! The food was lovely, drinks, milkshakes & coffes all extra special than any other normal places. It is a lovely place we had our dopg with us allowed to sit outside. Only problem is the service itself, theres a lack of communication between people serving us ie my grandad was told to sit down whilst his drinks were being prepared, yet the woman was annoyed that he didn't take them himself? It was quite rude & found most to be a bit like that & miserable...Such a shame because the pub itself is so welcoming and the food delicious!

Well. Me and my partner sat in the pub part and ordered a drink at the bar and asked where do we order food. My partner was Told to go and order at the separate building which is named "the grill" so he did and asked the man behind the kitchen can he order and do we have to eat here or can we eat in the pub. My partner was told if we wanted to eat in the pub part it would be extra cost??? So we ate in the freezing cold extension building. It is nice and decorated but both doors open and windows so it was freezing. It is an open kitchen so I got to see what was being "pinged". We both ordered steak and ale pie with chips and veg. We heard the veg being pinged and served out of a plastic jug! Then we saw our "pies" which was a clay pot of braising steak in a watery gravy and we watched the cook place the microwave puff pasty lid on top of the "stew". The thin pasty sunk in the watery gravy once we tried to eat it. The chips were okay but a little pale!! Overall the man who also was in the kitchen was rude and miserable. The young girl who brought over our meals was lovely and pleasant but he was horrible and not good for new customers!! Never again!!

Waited ages for my T Bone steak and chips. My wife ordered Gammon steak and salad as no baked potatoes left; she was still billed full price. The steak was offensively awful, poorly cooked, inedible and full of gristle. Chips were similarly uneatable, I've never had white ones before. Incredibly, when I asked for mustard I was charged 10p for a sachet. The waitress brought my wife's meal which had two bolied potatoes as substitute, perhaps to justify the full price. This was all left, the potatoes must have been there all day. The gammon was tough as old boot's. Complained to the waitress but she just smiled. Worst meal I've ever paid for.

We saw a lovely looking cafe (Morton grill) on the pub grounds. Really clean an inviting, great enticing signs and photos. How wrong we were. Even on holiday you need a Sunday dinner and with 36 years of butchery and catering experience we thought this had to be the best place. We ordered a normal carvery, a child's carvery and a vegetarian carvery. (although in my experience carvery means self serve). We received each meal around 3 minutes apart. The child's meal looked fine, then we got the vegetarian one which was just minus the meat as expected but rather small for £5.95. Then the meat one arrived (with alot more veg than the vegetarian meal). On the 'real carvery' plate there were 3 small boiled potatoes and one roast potato. Some very hard dry garden peas, some old, chewy, sour tasting carrots, 3 small pieces of cabbage a very small slice of pork and small slice of beef and instant cheap gravy. All 3 of us left most of our food and left hungry and disappointed. The inappropriately dressed 16 year old waitresses didn't speak a word when bringing and taking our plates. Poor service indeed.I have never written a trip advisor review but i felt so strongly about our experience i didn't want any other holiday makers to have the same misfortune.

Space fantastic, great staff. Tapas not to my liking this time.....bang bang cauliflower initially too overcooked and whipped feta cheese very thin. On previous occasion tapas all excellent

Great Sunday dinner, the price is amazing at £10 for a full dinner even for Lamb, best value in the area. Very friendly staff. The homemade puddings were an absolute highlight. Will definitely return.
