Really disappointed today, I've been a good customer for over 10 years regularly buying sandwiches for me and my family. So today I ordered a B.E.S.T and a large ham sandwich for my grandson. While I was waiting I called to a shop and returned soon after, the lady on the cooked section was chatting to a chap she had known. I was left waiting for over 15 minutes. After this time I asked if my sandwich was ready !! I was told the shop was busy I'd need to wait my turn, I'd been waiting over 15 minutes and customer were being served who had arrived after me. After being a good customer this as left me Suprised and shocked. I've always been loyal to mortimers cafe but now I'm more than happy to go elsewhere with how I was treated.

Wandering around Shipley in search of a decent bacon sandwich, trying to avoid the big chains, I stumbled across this brilliant cafe. It looked light, clean and inviting. The sandwich was divine: good quality, lean bacon in a soft white roll, cooked perfectly to order. The owners, who took over the business about 18 months ago, were friendly and chatty, and I felt very welcome. I will definitely be back, the other sandwiches on the menu sound delicious, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Only £4.95 for an all day breakfast! Please give me a helpful vote for my review!

I come in here regularly when visiting Shipley. Proprietor very friendly and there are obviously lots of regulars. Nice Americanos and lovely granary teacake for the sandwiches. I like the ham and cheese and the prawn and avocado sandwiches. They are always flexible when I ask for slight variations on the sandwich. Recommended.

Today was my first time visiting mortimers and what a find! I ordered the chicken, avocado and tarragon mayo sandwich and it was delicious, I could taste the individual flavours of the ingredients and for 3.25 it was extremely good value. The staff were friendly and helpful and the cafe had a welcoming environment. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone wanting a tasty lunch/breakfast in Shipley. Very good value for money and I will definitely be back.

I have been a few times for the all day breakfast. I have been to many other cafes in Shipley. This is one of the best. Good quality ingredients. They asked how I liked the bacon to be cooked. Tea comes in a pot if you ask. Price is very good. They have many other dishes that are a bit out of the ordinary if you are looking for something different.

There are very few (non-restaurant) places in the country where the people preparing it, understand food. The consistent effort Paula and her team go to on a daily basis is excellent. The ingredients are always really fresh and good quality. My only comment is I don't think they charge enough! Yes that sounds weird - most people seem to be programmed to want everything for less. The quality and quantity of food you get for your money is amazing but I'd rather see them serve less or charge more. I'm being selfish thinking like this - if a place doesn't make enough money, we all lose. So support them by going and be pleased for them if their prices creep up. 🙂

Eat at mortimers a lot. Homemade soup and fab garlic bread today. But the best bit was a piece of treacle tart made in house. I took home to have as a treat absolutly amazing. Everything freshly made with care and attention. Eat in or takeout always brilliant never disappointing.

This is a little cafe with only 4 table's but gosh, does it pack a great lunch! (Excuse the pun!) I had soup and a sandwich, both were excellent. My friends chose quiche, fried potatoes and salad, the other had a veg crepe. Great well cooked food, lovely staff all at a fair price. It was busy with take away requests for sandwiches etc too! Great place - well done!

I have been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. Paula is fabulous and always friendly. She is also always happy to make tweeks to allow you to have the best meal possible. Yummy meals I have had here include sweat crepes, garlic mushroom and Brie crepes, pulled pork sandwich, American pancakes with bacon and homemade humour with roasted veg- all truly delicious Thank you Paula!

I was working on a building site in Shipley and popped into Mortimers Cafe full of dirt and no one batted an eye lid. Staff were very very welcoming and friendly to boost. Food was top notch I had a sausage and egg nutty with quiche. Pricing was very reasonable I think they could even charge more for the food. All in all a brilliant experience :) xx

This is a lovely cafe for a whole host of reasons. The food is great, the variety is brilliant - choose from crepes, quiches, soups, sandwiches, salads and homemade cake. The salads don't have a hint of iceberg anywhere near them and where else in Shipley include potatoes, pumkin seeds, sultanas and homemade dressing as standard? Generous portions and very reasonably priced, the girls are happy to accomodate any combination of fillings/toppings you want. And rather than the standard "reading" material in most sandwich shops of The Sun and The Star here you have The New Scientist and Private Eye! Whether eating in or taking away everything is fantastic.

I'm never disappointed after a visit here. Paula and her team know their stuff. Absolutely superb standard of food. Loads of choice at very reasonable prices. Quality ingredients prepared with care and imagination. Knocks spots off the opposition. Without doubt, the best in Shipley and the surrounding area.

Another delicious sandwich from Mortimer's. Paula and the team are very welcoming and no ask is too much. There is a good choice of food and all freshly prepared onsite. The cakes are fabulous too! Outside catering is also available and the standard is very high. I highly recommend this coffee shop for a quick lunch or maybe an evening celebration with friends.

Lunchtime in Shipley: do I want reasonable coffee but meh sandwiches in Costa, or reasonable sandwiches but awful coffee in Subway? I had to go to the Yorkshire Bank, so I had a look at the menu here seeing as it's next door. One delicious chicken sandwich and a really good coffee later, my original question had been answered with a clear 'neither'. I've been back several times since and never been disappointed either, whether by a tuna Nicoise salad, a croque monsieur or various other sandwiches. And the prices are excellent too!

The menu offers all your favourites as well as some more original choices and prices are very reasonable.. A good range of vegetarian options too. The staff are so friendly and helpful and work incredibly hard..........make sure you're hungry when you go as the portions will be guaranteed to fill you up!

Tried Mortimer's Coffee House Cafe this morning on the recommendation of and with, my daughter (who is THE fussiest eater I have ever known) Immaculate interior nicely decorated and a menu that made it hard to choose. We plumped for a Banana milk shake each which was freshly prepared with REAL BANANAS (no syrupy rubbish) and it was gorgeous. I had a thick cut bacon, lettuce and vine ripened tomato sandwhich and it was lovely, daughter had a fried holloumi with cranberry sandwhich which she informed me was "lush". All in all great food in nice surroundings served by pleasant staff at a more than reasonable price. Forget the overpriced "Big named" eateries/coffee shops and do yourself a favour, try Mortimer's........your in for a treat.

I used to have a problem with lunch in Shipley, if I only wanted a sandwich. Good coffee but not-brilliant sandwiches in Costa, or more interesting sandwiches but rubbish coffee in Subway. Or paying rather more than I wanted to on a regular basis. Then I needed to actually go to my bank for once, and found this place. And what a find! Lovely food and great coffee, both at very reasonable prices. Love the way that you can mix and match the fillings or they'll make something up for you. As I said in the title, problem solved.

I can't really comment on much of the menu except that I enjoy their salads so much! I'm vegan and like to eat healthily and without this cafe I'd be at a bit of a loss at lunchtimes in Shipley. They throw in olives, sun dried toms, hummus, lush carrot and raisin salad as well as the usual lettuce, tomato, cucumber etc. Only £3!! Also the owner is very accommodating of us pesky vegans, happily customising the menu to order and even checking labels. Glad I found it.

This small corner cafe in Shipley has been recently refurbished by Paula the current owner. It offers a clean and comfortable environment to enjoy light meals and sandwishes. I work in Shipley and have tried all the various food outlets in the town centre. Mortimers is the best by far. Interesting fresh sandwich fillings, a choice of breads and tasty light meals. Also properly prepared coffees. Gets busy at lunchtime because it's good. It's also really good value for money.

the staff are friendly , the food is very nice , fresh and plenty . The cafe its self is clean and pleasant with a friendly atmosphere .i ordered garlic and lemon chicken and avocado ciabatta with tarragon Mayo and it was light but plenty of flavour . The price is reasonable for the quality, the shop its self is quite small and fits 5 tables of 2seats(as I recall , wouldn't be more than one more or less) was decorated nicely and felt pleasant to eat there. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting fresh quality reasonably priced food with accommodating staff .
