What a great restaurant. As a family group of 7 we called in late Sunday afternoon returning from the Dales. We all had different Sunday lunch options and there were no complaints. Go and enjoy.

Their stakes are made to perfection. The fries, garnish, and sauces are amazing. Their 3 course meals are exciting.

Honestly it was amazing food. I was dubious with all the five star reviews but it was delicious. The paella starter was incredible and the Mexican steak was cooked perfectly. Excellent staff and cosy atmosphere. Really really impressive place.

Amazing food for an amazing price. Chicken bacon and cheese sandwich was amazing as was the steak and frites.

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and every staff member we encountered was lovely. The menu is interesting and something a bit different from the norm, and the food is very tasty. Can't wait to visit again!

What an amazing find in Saltaire. The food was delicious and the service also great. We chose the ‘English’ and the ‘French’ from the menu and the beef was excellent. Desserts were also delicious. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

I can see why this place is number one in Saltaire restaurants. This is the third time I have been here in my visits to the area and I have to say the standards have been consistently high. It's an adventurous menu and the chef definitely knows what he is doing. My rib-eye was cooked perfectly and the crab starter excellent. This was part of the prix fixe menu which was excellent value for money. And the service couldn't be criticised despite the place being very busy. Ten out of ten, at the very least.

With one day’s notice, we needed a lunchtime table on a Sunday for a family lunch consisting of 12 of us from age for up to age 85. The peppermill was able to fit us in and gave us a table upstairs where we didn’t disturb anybody else. The waitresses were lovely and the brunch choice was really appetising. Both my husband and I could’ve chosen a number of things on the menu and both our teenage boys were the same. There were your standard brunch offerings (including full English, vegan fry up, various eggs on toast, bacon sandwich) plus a number of more unusual dishes including nduja scrambled eggs, shakshouka and Bradford poached eggs on sourdough with an Indian spiced sauce and mint sauce). it was also a lovely lunch menu to choose from. The coffee was great and the blueberry and banana smoothie gets a special mention. Every plate was empty at the end of the meal, which I think speaks volumes. Will definitely be going back again and recommending it to other people. We felt very welcome and it’s a nice environment to eat in.

Being a peaceful area, the breakfasts are attended by well mannered guests. The sausages are excellent. The beans are a small bundle of haricot, kidney and butter beans, with a ketchup type sauce - not the supermarket usual! The sausages from the local butcher are excellent, as is the black pudding. The scrambled eggs are a generous portion of creamy succulence! Gripes: Can get busy and a little noisy. Paying is a cramped affair - the staff need to pass regularly and there's a table at the bar where the payment machine is situated.

Lunch time visit, delicious food, good service and reasonably priced.

Visiting The Pepper Mill again since our last visit in March was a pleasant surprise. The food has improved from bad to very good. The pub was immaculately clean, and the staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience all the more enjoyable. It's clear they've made some wonderful changes, and we look forward to returning again soon.

After walking up past a few cafes/ restaurants my friend and I decided on breakfast here! What a find!! Recently moved over here and will be returning to try out more food. We both had the full English with coffee. It was very filling - large plate. I had to have 2 cappuccino’s as I need a bucket full in the morning. Coffee was gorgeous best I’ve had for a while out. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Worth every penny . 😉

We came for brunch and ended up ordering lunch instead. The pave steak was excellent and the steak sandwich perfectly done with beautiful bread. Cracking chips too. Really good organic wine. Faultless, friendly service even though they were (quite rightly) busy. Laid back, top quality food, everything done with care, attention, and love. Go here.

The place is outstandingly good. We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and were pleasantly surprised to find room available. We ordered an English breakfast and Shakshuka, along with coffee, a matcha latte and orange juice. Firstly, the English breakfast was outstandingly good and of excellent quality. The beans were a homemade mix and the sausages were clearly local. The Shakshuka was also presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The drinks were great too. The staff were friendly and the food arrived quickly. The atmosphere was lovely and it was all reasonably priced. I would definitely come back here!

We’ve done dinner, brunch, and Sunday lunch here and all three have been fantastic. The food is always delicious, and the bar is so well stocked with well-made cocktails and good wine. The staff are superb, too. Such a hidden gem.

Had the rump steak sandwich today, the presentation was great, fries etc were great as always. But the rump steak, and I know it’s a tougher part of of the steak, but I struggled to even cut it with a knife not to mention trying to chew it! Maybe it was the last cut you had left but it was pretty inedible to be honest. I was going to bring it to your attention but had to leave as it got stuck. Sorry to leave this review but it wasn’t great I’m afraid

Very nice food and people.. a bit noisy on occasion

Dropped in for brunch on a bank holiday - there was bustle but seats available. The staff were lovely, the coffee was great, the food was tasty and prepared just as we asked. I had an excellent shakshuka and my friend (non-veggie) was over the moon with her nduja scrambled eggs. No photos this time because I immediately attacked my food. Definitely go try for yourself.

Best place in Saltaire for Sunday breakfast and dining. Excellent food made with love and care. Very good atmosphere restaurant / bar and lot of space upstairs if busy. Friendly staff who go out of there way to be attentive. Highly recommended 5 * Tip - the poached eggs on sourdough with 2x extra smoked bacon is to die for.

Food was nice, a little fat on my steak sandwich however I think we were unlucky on deciding to visit at prime lunchtime and they were extremely busy, full upstairs and downstairs and possibly short staffed (only saw 2 people doing everything in front of house) . We Waited a little for service and drinks but overall nice food and drink, lovely atmosphere, I can see why they were full of customers!

I had a excellent sunday brunch here. The food was outstanding, staff was friendly and helpful. Best english breakfast I've ever had. Egg Benedict seemed a little bit sour for me. Will come back to eat sunday roast (served from 1pm) WC is clean and tidy

We left The Pepper Mill trying to remember a better meal... having booked a table 2 hours before and just hoping for a nice meal after driving up from Sheffield, we were met with immaculate service, fantastic wine and some of the best food we've ever had. The octopus starter was heavenly! The sole main was perfect too. We'd hoped for a nice evening and left feeling we'd been very lucky to find it. (And if you are not sure who we were, we were the ones who over-tipped by mistake and you actually brought it back to check and said it wasn't worth that much of a tip! Okay, it wasn't quite worth that much but you were all very good and thank you) x

Had lunch with my son yesterday. We couldn’t fault the Sunday roast- plentiful and so tasty. Service was very good as usual. I wasn’t surprised it was fully booked. The peppermill is the best food locally in my opinion. Always a treat.

Amazing food, well priced, even the coffee was very nice which is a rarity for both to be that good.

First visit and really welcoming warm greetings on a cold day. The vegetarian breakfast was yummy and one, if not the, best I’ve had. The coffee delicious so had another with Ralph being so attentive, friendly and kind. As a visually impaired person, service can be hit and miss but Ralph gave such dignity. Will definitely come again and feel that we’ve discovered a gem. Highly recommend the food and service and an independent eatery, even better! Thank you for your kindness.

Visited with my friend for breakfast, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, great menu choice something for everyone. Definitely a diamond of a cafe/bistro in Saltaire well worth a visit.

Four of us booked dinner at The Pepper Mill Saltaire for mid evening on a Friday . There was a good atmosphere in the restaurant as we were shown to our table upstairs . Good chilled lager and excellent house red were brought before our starters . The brie was very tasty indeed . I had the lamb which was nicely pink . The beef was very good as well . The service was excellent and knowledgeable . I recommend a visit to The Pepper Mill .

Absolutely delightful. The food was wonderful - a really nice menu, all delicious and presented beautifully. The service, friendly and efficient. The wine list and cocktails were great. And the pudding, the cheesecake sphere, was exceptional. It’s not cheap but the quality of the ingredients shone, everything about it was excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and I can’t wait to return!

Eaten here a few times and it’s usually great Visited today but left feeling quite offended after a food complaint on our table. We found a hair in one breakfast (which isn’t a massive issue, it happens sometimes), so just put the bacon it had touched to one side and ate the rest. Never had a check back from a member of staff (could see they were busy) so just quietly mentioned it when they cleared the food. The server looked insulted by the comment, leant over the table and prodded the bacon to try find a hair. After pointing it out for him he claimed one chef is bald and the other is ginger so can’t be from them. Went up to pay and the server just said ‘let us know next time so we can fix it’. Would’ve been a valid point if he’d checked back. Also claimed the hair was from the pig or the air, both valid reason but we were just looking for an apology rather than excuses. In fairness the meal was taken off the bill, but we all left feeling like we had done something wrong. Didn’t bother arguing because at this point we just wanted to leave. Hopefully I’ll be back for great food and coffee in the future, but someone definitely needs some training in handling complaints. Don’t take it personally or make the customer feel guilty!

Both my partner and me love visiting Pepper Mill and have been coming nearly every weekend for the past year. We mainly go for breakfast which is 10/10 but have also had the Sunday roast which is the best locally. We always feel welcome and the service is great.

Went to the pepper mill today was seated upstairs both myself and my friend ordered breakfast it was ok very greasy. As we left and got in the car we both noticed the smell of all I can say is greasy on our clothes had to leave and come home and change as the smell was so strong.

Very impressed by this small restaurant, every dish tasted lovely with excellent presentation. Recommend; Starter; Smoked Haddock Croquette (Spinach, panko poached egg, bechamel sauce, confit lemon, herb oil), Main; Roasted Lamb Rump Maple chilli glazed parsnips, sauteed greens, parsnip crisps, lamb jus Dessert; Dark & White Chocolate Ravioli Chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream. All lovely, their menu is rotated regularly. We will return.

We decided to have a Sunday lunch out as a treat and that is exactly what we got, it was amazing. Cooked and seasoned to perfection, beautifully presented and by happy cheerful staff. We are regulars so probably now a bit biased but credit where credit is due. Well done

One of the nicest meals we've had.... Great menu, although not extensive. Fabulous service and reasonable too. We had.. Smoked haddock fishcake with poached egg Charcoal salmon Beef stew & dumpling Steak & fries Creme brule I had The haddock fishcake & poached egg was delicious, runny egg, good ratio of fish & potato and a beautiful, slightly sweet sauce. The beef stew was very tasty but the dumpling is the star, crispy out side, light & fluffy underneath. All perfectly seasoned. Cream brule was smooth & sweet with the right amount of caramelised sugar on top. The crunch was fab. This came with a slightly soft & slightly gooey biscuit with a perfect hint of salt to ballance the brule. My husband had the salmon & steak which he also said was fab. Intimate, warm & bright, welcoming staff. Ralph was a charming Maitre D; very attentive & put us at our ease. The 4 of us shared the beef & chicken roast dinners. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals of choice. With a bottle of wine, pint of lager the bill was less than £90. Great vfm. Well done. Most welcome on a wet grey Sunday💚

First time visiting, walked in at lunch time and had a table available. Really friendly service, great menu and the end result was great. Also the coffee was excellent! Definitely will be coming back when in Saltaire/Shipley area.

Went for dinner for an anniversary. Staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so, two mains, 2 side dishes, deserts and wine £90. I thought it was good value for the quality of food. And the size of the portions. We will definitely go back, maybe try brunch or lunch. In the meantime I’d recommend.

Fast becoming a favourite, The Pepper Mill is a real hidden gem. Friendly and welcoming, the food is superb - inventive, adventurous, well-cooked and, above all, delicious. Reasonably priced food and drink menus, with some excellent wines, and a relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect place for couples or family occasions or just a damn good meal.

Amazing food and great ambience. First visit for an evening meal and we’ll definitely be back. The decor is lovely and is was so warm inside, on what was a bitterly cold night. We had the set menu £26.95 for two course and £29.95 for three (with supplements for steak etc). Starters were sublime - a prawn cocktail and salmon gravalax, preceded by complimentary sourdough bread and homemade lemon, caper and parsley butter which was a taste sensation. Honestly, it was incredible. Starters arrived, plated like artwork. I love when this happens and feel really valued - a chef has placed things so carefully for little Ol’ me to delight in. Almost too beautiful to spoil by eating but I’m glad I did as the flavours were sensational, rich, smoky and zingy. For mains we both went for the fillet steak, at a small supplement. Rich, decadent, peppercorn sauce and an 8oz perfectly rare, locally sourced steak - sensational. Other reviews have mentioned the peppercorn sauce and they’re right, it’s the best ever. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but I saw some go to other diners and they looked delicious. If you’ve not been, I’d urge you to pay a visit as its was a wonderful evening and incredible food.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was delicious and the service second to none. I have special requirements because of an illness. The staff could not have been more understanding. They gave me options and I was delighted with the food they served me. EXCEPTIONAL. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! My husband as no dietary problems, snd loved all the dishes he had.

What an amazing little place! Having tried lots of restaurants in the area, this is by far one of the best! The food tastes wonderful, absolutely cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. Highly recommended and will definitely come back again!
