A really great breakfast! Black pudding was exceptional. Coffee very good too.

Had lunch with my son yesterday. We couldn’t fault the Sunday roast- plentiful and so tasty. Service was very good as usual. I wasn’t surprised it was fully booked. The peppermill is the best food locally in my opinion. Always a treat.

Amazing food, well priced, even the coffee was very nice which is a rarity for both to be that good.

First visit and really welcoming warm greetings on a cold day. The vegetarian breakfast was yummy and one, if not the, best I’ve had. The coffee delicious so had another with Ralph being so attentive, friendly and kind. As a visually impaired person, service can be hit and miss but Ralph gave such dignity. Will definitely come again and feel that we’ve discovered a gem. Highly recommend the food and service and an independent eatery, even better! Thank you for your kindness.

Visited with my friend for breakfast, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, great menu choice something for everyone. Definitely a diamond of a cafe/bistro in Saltaire well worth a visit.

Four of us booked dinner at The Pepper Mill Saltaire for mid evening on a Friday . There was a good atmosphere in the restaurant as we were shown to our table upstairs . Good chilled lager and excellent house red were brought before our starters . The brie was very tasty indeed . I had the lamb which was nicely pink . The beef was very good as well . The service was excellent and knowledgeable . I recommend a visit to The Pepper Mill .

Absolutely delightful. The food was wonderful - a really nice menu, all delicious and presented beautifully. The service, friendly and efficient. The wine list and cocktails were great. And the pudding, the cheesecake sphere, was exceptional. It’s not cheap but the quality of the ingredients shone, everything about it was excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and I can’t wait to return!

Eaten here a few times and it’s usually great Visited today but left feeling quite offended after a food complaint on our table. We found a hair in one breakfast (which isn’t a massive issue, it happens sometimes), so just put the bacon it had touched to one side and ate the rest. Never had a check back from a member of staff (could see they were busy) so just quietly mentioned it when they cleared the food. The server looked insulted by the comment, leant over the table and prodded the bacon to try find a hair. After pointing it out for him he claimed one chef is bald and the other is ginger so can’t be from them. Went up to pay and the server just said ‘let us know next time so we can fix it’. Would’ve been a valid point if he’d checked back. Also claimed the hair was from the pig or the air, both valid reason but we were just looking for an apology rather than excuses. In fairness the meal was taken off the bill, but we all left feeling like we had done something wrong. Didn’t bother arguing because at this point we just wanted to leave. Hopefully I’ll be back for great food and coffee in the future, but someone definitely needs some training in handling complaints. Don’t take it personally or make the customer feel guilty!

Both my partner and me love visiting Pepper Mill and have been coming nearly every weekend for the past year. We mainly go for breakfast which is 10/10 but have also had the Sunday roast which is the best locally. We always feel welcome and the service is great.

Went to the pepper mill today was seated upstairs both myself and my friend ordered breakfast it was ok very greasy. As we left and got in the car we both noticed the smell of all I can say is greasy on our clothes had to leave and come home and change as the smell was so strong.

Recommend; Starter; Smoked Haddock Croquette (Spinach, panko poached egg, bechamel sauce, confit lemon, herb oil), Main; Roasted Lamb Rump Maple chilli glazed parsnips, sauteed greens, parsnip crisps, lamb jus Dessert; Dark & White Chocolate Ravioli Chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream. All lovely, their menu is rotated regularly. We will return.

We decided to have a Sunday lunch out as a treat and that is exactly what we got, it was amazing. Cooked and seasoned to perfection, beautifully presented and by happy cheerful staff. We are regulars so probably now a bit biased but credit where credit is due. Well done

One of the nicest meals we've had.... Great menu, although not extensive. Fabulous service and reasonable too. We had.. Smoked haddock fishcake with poached egg Charcoal salmon Beef stew & dumpling Steak & fries Creme brule I had The haddock fishcake & poached egg was delicious, runny egg, good ratio of fish & potato and a beautiful, slightly sweet sauce. The beef stew was very tasty but the dumpling is the star, crispy out side, light & fluffy underneath. All perfectly seasoned. Cream brule was smooth & sweet with the right amount of caramelised sugar on top. The crunch was fab. This came with a slightly soft & slightly gooey biscuit with a perfect hint of salt to ballance the brule. My husband had the salmon & steak which he also said was fab. Fabulous Sunday roast, exceeded expectation! The food was excellent as was the service! Fabulous lemon drizzle cake and salted caramel brownie.

Intimate, warm & bright, welcoming staff. Ralph was a charming Maitre D; very attentive & put us at our ease. The 4 of us shared the beef & chicken roast dinners. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals of choice. With a bottle of wine, pint of lager the bill was less than £90. Great vfm. Well done. Most welcome on a wet grey Sunday💚

First time visiting, walked in at lunch time and had a table available. Really friendly service, great menu and the end result was great. Also the coffee was excellent! Definitely will be coming back when in Saltaire/Shipley area.

Fast becoming a favourite, The Pepper Mill is a real hidden gem. Friendly and welcoming, the food is superb - inventive, adventurous, well-cooked and, above all, delicious. Reasonably priced food and drink menus, with some excellent wines, and a relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect place for couples or family occasions or just a damn good meal.

Went for dinner for an anniversary. Staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so, two mains, 2 side dishes, deserts and wine £90. I thought it was good value for the quality of food. And the size of the portions. We will definitely go back, maybe try brunch or lunch. In the meantime I’d recommend.

Best place in Saltaire for Sunday breakfast and dining. Excellent food made with love and care. Very good atmosphere restaurant / bar and lot of space upstairs if busy. Absolutely superb👌We had three courses and all were beautifully presented and more importantly delicious. Lovely bottle of Bordeaux complimented our meal. Amazing food and great ambience. First visit for an evening meal and we’ll definitely be back. The decor is lovely and is was so warm inside, on what was a bitterly cold night. We had the set menu £26.95 for two course and £29.95 for three (with supplements for steak etc). Starters were sublime - a prawn cocktail and salmon gravalax, preceded by complimentary sourdough bread and homemade lemon, caper and parsley butter which was a taste sensation. Honestly, it was incredible. Starters arrived, plated like artwork. I love when this happens and feel really valued - a chef has placed things so carefully for little Ol’ me to delight in. Almost too beautiful to spoil by eating but I’m glad I did as the flavours were sensational, rich, smoky and zingy. For mains we both went for the fillet steak, at a small supplement. Rich, decadent, peppercorn sauce and an 8oz perfectly rare, locally sourced steak - sensational. Other reviews have mentioned the peppercorn sauce and they’re right, it’s the best ever. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but I saw some go to other diners and they looked delicious. If you’ve not been, I’d urge you to pay a visit as its was a wonderful evening and incredible food.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was delicious and the service second to none. I have special requirements because of an illness. The staff could not have been more understanding. What an amazing little place! Having tried lots of restaurants in the area, this is by far one of the best! The food tastes wonderful, absolutely cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. Highly recommended and will definitely come back again!

We stumbled across here rather than pre-searching online, as we were already in the area for the Saltaire Inspired Makers Market (which was also great!) What a find this place was, the gent who served us (possibly the owner) was exceptionally friendly and made you feel really welcomed. He’s definitely working in the right business. We pre cleaned to table for the baby but it was already spotless. Whilst welcoming to children it didn’t seem to be targeted at children with a naff children’s menu which is always a plus IMO. All the food was delicious, and cooked perfectly. Portion’s certainly couldn’t be sniffed at either! Good value and very happy all round, would be a pleasure to go back if we were ever in the area again.

Honestly the best food I have ever eaten in my life, I chose the duck and the octopus this was absolutely Devine and so where all of the other courses, including the pork the chicken and the beef, not just the food was great but so was the service 100% recommend trying this place out.

Stopped at this restaurant twice on a recent trip to Saltaire. The food is simply immaculate. We tried the Nduja Scrambled Eggs, mushrooms on toast and eggs florentine, each incredibly tasty. Seriously. The wait staff were also very kind and easy to speak to. Of course, they remembered my partner and I from the previous day! The only problem with this place is that it’s not closer to my home- though that’s probably safer for my waistline.

A great replacement for La Rue and Waterslide restaurants. Will definitely going again

Absolutely lovely breakfast here and great service! We had a veggie and a vegan breakfast and they were both stunning, really nice when a place puts thought into their veggie options. Plus, they gave our dog a bowl of water! Will come back when next in Saltaire.

I am obsessed with the N'duja scrambled eggs which are so tasty and I didn't need to eat another meal that day (which is unusual for me) My sister said the full English was well cooked and a generous portion. Passing by chance, I decided to stop for brunch, which was excellent. I had poached eggs on sourdough toast. The latter was a little difficult to eat with a knife & fork, but that is the nature of the bread when toasted. Tasted great though, with a perfect pot of tea. I ate upstairs, where there was a quiet, pleasant, Monday lunch atmosphere. Then I moved downstairs for a slice of carrot cake with coffee! The friendly, helpful staff were phenomenal. They remained cheerful no matter how many times they had to run up and downstairs, bearing orders & clearing away. One slight accident with empty pots didn't phase the waitress or make a dent in her jollity. I have deducted 1 star from my review simply because the building itself (with its protected Saltaire heritage status) does not allow for the kind of modification that would make it easier for both staff & customers, and more disabled friendly, i.e. a toilet downstairs & some means of assisting meal delivery/clearing away between floors. The toilet facilities upstairs are spacious though. People just need to be aware of the building constraints in relation to their needs before they book, which is no lack of willingness by the staff to improve, were it possible. That said, and having read other reviews, I am now feeling rather jealous that I wasn't passing in time for an evening meal! But the menu sounds so mouthwatering, I suspect booking advised. Definitely worthy of a return visit though. Highly recommended.

Went for a small lunch with a friends but as it was Sunday they only had a Sunday Roast on the menu. We stayed anyway and had the Roast Chicken. It came quickly and was well presented and hot, not something you always get elsewhere....
