Today we visited and as it was a Sunday i decided on a chicken dinner, big mistake.Where do i start?Chicken was very dry and not hot, roast potatoes were small and hard, carrots were raw, parsnips were rock hard and had a bitter taste.Mash was tasteless and cauliflower cheese had a vague taste of cheese. The peas and yorkshire were ok but the latter was very small. My gravy was lukewarm so they kindly heated it till it was more like molten lava!I had to ask for napkins as apparently us customers cannot be trusted to use the dispensers!I wouldn't advise anyone to eat here, had an upset stomach all afternoon.

We went to the cafe for our Tea Whilst on a short Easter Break in Scotland. My wife chose Fish and Chips and I chose Sausage Egg Chips and Beans, comfort food we hoped. My Wife's was OK as to a point were my sausages. As for the rest The Chips looked not twice cooked but overcooked, brown and had the consistency of something that had been microwaved. My beans were also over micro'd and almost had to be prised out of the pot. The girl serving had disappeared , never to return. All in all it was a culinary disaster and has really put us off going into Morrisons cafe especially as the last time we visited one they had closed up well before the advertised time

Went in for what I thought would be a simple quick lunch, but took 35 mins to arrive and yet was lukewarm! Very disappointing considering the price increases and actually smaller potions with rationing of sauces and napkins. Till and serving staff were friendly and polite enough but managed to catch the eagle eye of the notoriously egocentric "People's Pest Poet" predator who wouldn't leave us alone in peace without reading his Godawful "poetry" and trying to obtain my friend's mobile number in his usual devious way! Staff should politely speak to this individual (who's been such a menace to females for decades now according to older local residents).

I thought our order was simple enough, poached egg on buttered toast for me and a big breakfast for my husband.Service was quick which is the best thing i can say.My poached eggs had hard yolks and were served on dry toast,I had to ask for butter. My husbands breakfast-well,where do i start?Another solid poached egg(was meant to be fried),3 sliced sausage(did they run out of links?),2 massive mushrooms, tiny scraps of bacon,A massive fried bread crust and no black pudding. When i mentioned it was missing the waitress came back with "well, she was sure she put it on" and proceeded to stand there while my husband searched under the fried crust and the pile of sliced sausage before grudgingly bringing a slice over.No apologies given.I will not be back, substandard food and poor service.

The entire breakfast looked like it had been reheating. I was left with overcooked Lorne sausage, overheated beans, one x fatty undercooked bacon Rasheed, one piece of cold toast and one nicely poached egg. The only item that I could eat that was fresh was the poached egg. The coffee machine for regular caffeinated cappuccino did not work so I had to go for decaff. The staff seemed stressed and understaffed but honestly I would have been better buying a sandwich and a cool juice instead. Total waste of money and no one will return if the quality of food is reheats ,dried out and served cold and inedible.

My son, granddaughter and myself eventually were served for our lunch order today, which took a while to arrive but no waiting time had been mentioned. My son had a cooked breakfast which was extremely disappointing, bacon was cold and other items luke warm, my toastie came on an exceptionally hot plate, was just a toastie, no side dressing and my granddaughter meal was another exceptionally hot plate, which may be reason for very dry crispy chips🤷♂️, high chair was filthy and required cleaning before use, straps disgusting which we were unable to clean fully with the wipes we had. Cutlery was dirty and we had to search for clean!

Been going to Morrisons often and regularly for a long time now and had many Mini fish and chips. On this occasion we ordered 3 of them. It seemed to us that one fish had been divided into 3 portions. Did not make a fuss because we were with my elderly Mother in Law and it was her treat for us. Took a photo though and contacted Morrisons customer services. They admitted that it did seem like a small portion of fish and have credited £3 to our Morrisons card. Not bothered about the money really but I think £3 is not appropriate. I will not be getting mini fish and chips from any Morrisons again. Better to get one full portion and a portion of chips then divide up the fish yourself.

I always take my mum into the cafe for lunch before we do our shopping, we ordered two fish and chips today, the food was to its normal standard and we enjoyed it. It was disappointing that we had to clean our own cutlery as all the cutlery in the tray was dirty and not washed properly. I also felt the drinks station was quite grubby today, a lot of spillages that were I left unwiped. I’m not normally disappointed with the cafe but that’s the last couple of times I feel it has been a little dirty. We will try the cafe again as enjoy our stop off before heading to do our shopping but hopefully a cleaner and tidier next time.

Popped into Morrisons cafe after shopping. Queue was tailed back well outwith cafe. Got to the till eventually and staff member decided to leave to enter kitchen for a few minutes and returned with replenishments of sandwiches for the children's box meals and proceeded to stack them. Meanwhile queue again was tailed back. Whilst I appreciate that sandwiches need to be restocked, not the best way for the cashier to spend her time when folk patiently waiting to get served. Ordered fish fingers for one of my grandchildren and requested a cheese and ham panini for second grandchild. Was informed no paninis left but could do a toasie but not cheese and ham as they only do bacon and ham. I asked why not cheese and ham were they prepacked but cashier advised only bacon and cheese!! Hadn't heard of that combo before and after seeing reaction of grandchild eating it and leaving it after two bites, nuff said. Didn't get fish fingers either but a battered piece of fish which was too greasy to eat. It's a nice cafe, no play area for young children such as the store in Anniesland has which is good but service needs to be improved. Large cafes need more than one till. Food on offer at Morrisons is usually good but why dumfries cafe could not rustle up a cheese and ham toastie given its part of a supermarket where ham is in plentiful supply beats me.

Twice a year I have visited Scotland, always stayed at the same hotel in Dumfries and had meals at Morrison's café. On my first day in Dumfries I ordered fish, chips and mushy peas; waited 25 minutes for the meal to be served and started to eat. The fish was hot but the chips were cool and the mushy peas had congealed in one tepid lump. It was obvious to me that whilst the fish was being cooked (hence the time lapse) the chips were put on one side and not kept hot. I decided not to complain because: firstly, I couldn't another 25 minutes and secondly, I made my mind up to avoid this café for the rest of my holiday - which I did. Other Morrison's Cafés I visit can serve up the same meal hot so what happened at Dumfries ?

Arriving back in Scotland for a few weeks, thought I would treat myself to a Scottish breakfast. Although all the components were there, it was cold and took a while to be served (to be fair they said 15 minutes when I ordered - more like 25 minutes). I guess I could have mentioned this but I couldn't spend the rest of my life there so got stuck in with demolishing it. so much so, that when we visited for our evening meal there was a good queue. But, for us, fish and chips twice with free tea/coffee for £10 is really good value and Morrisons should be congratulated that they have this cafe on the edge of the town, as the town is "pretty dead" (either before 9.30am and after 5pm!) so a good place to eat and good food.

The fact that this is Morrisons Café does what it says on the tin with regards to surroundings and ambience . You don't eat here looking for a romantic setting .I first ate here maybe 3 years ago while doing the big shop . No expectations , just needed sustenance . I am a big fish and chip snob , my Yorkshire heritage allows me to be the fish and chip critic that I am :) . How does this next line make any sense ..... Morrisons do the best fish and chips in and around Dumfries .... there , I've said it and I mean it too . The fish is good and fresh , it is of a thickness that it should be (not the waiffer thin fillets that other purveyors pass off , having to give 2 pieces to make up) , the batter is fab and guess what ?? it is crispy , the mushy peas are more than passable , the wedge of lemon is always a nice option ... the chips are the only slight let down . They are ok , but are frozen chips and not over plentiful in numbers , but only for folk with hearty appetites . Tesco is the more handy supermarket for me , every now and then though , the treat of the Fish and chips on offer at Morrisons becomes too tempting . Bugger the Tesco points .I have tried all the offerings of fish shops in and around Dumfries and many throughout our gorgeous county . I am only ever disappointed , not here though .

2 big tables near the kitchen, 1 tiny family sat in the middle of one and 2 middle aged men sat in the middle of the other. Great use of space, our family of 6 had to push tables together just to be seated. You'd think there would be some rules about such things. Food was delayed but we were notified before purchase, which was acceptable. What was not acceptable was there was no appropriate cutlery, I checked before and after my food arrived and nothing. I was forced to eat my dinner with a knife cutting and using it as a cocktail stick, as I didn't fancy using my hands and looking like a wild animal eating a chicken breast. My children were also limited to choices so being children and their choice of meal not so bad with fingers we decided this to be the best option, although I frown upon this at home and out usually so it did not send a great parenting message! Your staff of the day were an interesting selection of slow and backward.. No matter how many times you ask them the same question in many different ways they just say the same response in their calm but dull way. Non argumentative souls bless them but come on they couldn't organise a Knees up in a brewery, even if they had the information spoon fed to them. Yes it's nice to employ a diverse selection of people and good on you morrisons but not in a cafe on busy days when children need fed. The food isn't bad it's actually pretty good for the price no complaints there apart from maybe the children's macaroni cheese and the way the garlic bread is only toasted on one side?

If you want cremated bacon with "fried eggs" that defy the laws of physics by holding their shape despite their rawness then this is the place for you. This place is going down hill fast I used to enjoy my breakfast on a Sunday here.In the past few months I've had to fight to get the paper napkins back they were handing out one at a time at the checkout! Then there's the coffee machines I have complained to customer services several times ....why?The kenco machine when you have a latte etc it tastes of chocolate because parts were held together with tape ( staff told me ) The other machine bean to cup a couple of weeks ago only gave me half a cup again I told a member of staff to be told that was it ? At £1-65 a cup it's a lot of money . And it's not been without fault either in it won't work until the milk is at temperature.Ok so what happened this Sunday decided to have a cup of milk out of their milk fridge dispenser it was so so slow I waited in Que. to tell them at the check out.. The staff said it was full? But it wasn't as they had trouble getting milk out as well so they went to change it fine! So I waited then they came back with a new one it was leaking .... Put it down then left me waiting again because he had to serve the people that went in front of me I'm sorry I was waiting to get served told him not to bother I would have cola instead I just thought it was rude after I waited inline to tell them in the first place to wait twice more ..... I used to enjoy a breakfast here but things are slipping ...Still the same coffee machines that could do to be updated first one inline always has a taste of chocolate in the coffee and the second machine the coffee is warm you would have to drink it before your food arrived or its stone cold afterwards.... Food is ok depends on which staff are on I think Plus now they are hiding the napkins away under the till? I've asked why and was told people where taking to many so punish them not the rest of the customers! I three weeks ago bought a pack because I shouldn't need to ask for a napkin? Even customer service didn't help told me it was sorted went in today and still handing out one napkin per meal? I use two one after my meal and another after my coffee........

Used to be a great place for breakfast but the quality is going down. I would rather they increased the prices than reduce their standards.

My mum and I often come here for a quick bite to eat if we are shopping. What I really like about the menu is that it clearly states nutritional value. I am watching what I eat and I find this so helpful to know. It is café food and I is tasty and very reasonably priced. Just don't expect five star ratings and high quality. But its clean and quickly served and reasonably priced.

Great place for a cheap and cheerful lunch. It is busy with friendly staff. I had fish and chips which is great value cheaper than a carry out. Very handy place to eat before or after shopping.

Very busy, poor service, messy tables and food is more expensive in café than of the shelves even if it's the same stuff.Give it a miss and had into town for a coffee.

Ate there instead of paying the expensive prices at the pub next to the Premier Inn down the road. Had a nice breakfast at a really good price - staff were friendly.Only thing was breakfast was served on really small plates which meant it was hard to cut up without food falling off the plate.

This place is great value for money and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We always make a point of visiting this place not just when we're doing our shopping.

Food good for a supermarket. Staff overworked and seem to cover lots of duties at once which is not their fault. Always busy though.

We took advantage of Morrisons free meals for children offer. The food was good, hot and well cooked. There was something for everyone on the menu. Very good value as 8 of us ate for under £30.00.

We had 6x rooms booked for wedding including the Ash suite paid extra for family and guests fur a wedding the Ash suite there was no hot water for bath and patio doors blowing open and rattling all night. There where still gift left in cupboard from 60th party. We booked 2x dressing gowns and slippers and put on our bill but where not allowed to take them.rang reception said no hot water and attitwas couldn't care less re water or patio doors they also explained not to take dressing gowns as did not belong to hotel.. Reception staff very cold and uncaring it seen they have had your money and not bothered we where a small party for wedding but should be treated as well as a 200 party not looked down on like something they stood in .the ceremony at the gretna Anville was amazing couldn't fault it fool if laughter and fun but also very professional by all concerned even the piper was outstanding the meal was lovely but very very slow booked for2.30 started gone 3 two course took 2houes ..then had to chase staff for clearing tables as everyone was getting bored by the time we got to coffee and shortbread which was extra there was only 6 at the table

I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More

Food was cold and disgusting. Steak burger was served in a roll which looked like something that would be served in a chippy. Waitress has clearly not been trained properly at all as her hospitality skills were dragging through the dirt.
