I wanted to work for 30 minutes or so while having a cup of tea. When I went to get the Wi-Fi password after I had ordered a tea I saw a notice on the wall explaining they were a know independent business and didn’t want laptop hoggers and the use of laptops on weekend was banned - there were also times during the week where people could not use laptops. I am always supportive of independent businesses hence why I was there, but to ban people using laptops is pretty ridiculous considering they charge £3.50 for tea - i can’t image the stopper is not making any profit on a £3.50 cup of tea - I know the decor is somewhat retro but I think they need to move into the 21st Century people go to cafes to work. Of course users shouldn’t be abusing the store by sitting there all day with one cup of tea - but to ban everyone is pretty rubbish to be honest - still there are plenty of other independent coffee shops/rea rooms where you can sit and work and eat and drink.

I work in Birmingham and this is my breakfast highlight. I love porridge and I love the combinations of flavours in the porridge. The coffee if also so smooth. If you are not a porridge fan there is plenty to choose from. Lunch is nice as well.

I've recently had to change my diet because of eczema, and finding somehwere to eat that caters for it when I'm out is challenging. I was visiting Birmingham for a weekend away with a friend and found Morridge through a search of breakfast places, and I'm so glad I did. The porridge bowl I had was so warming and tasty (dark chocolate orange), the coffee I had was great, and the atmosphere was really relaxed. The decor is gorgeous too! I wanted to try everything on the menu. To the owners - ever thought about coming up to Manchester? I'd be first in.

I love porridge so was delighted when I realised Brum has a porridge cafe! Exceeded expectations! Really cute and quirky cafe with lots of space upstairs. Porridge was very plentiful and tasty - would be keen to try the other flavours over time. Sat happily with my book for 30 mins. Would definitely recommend and look forward to going back soon.

Porridge for breakfast is hands down my favourite meal, so I was so excited to hear about a porridge cafe just up the road from me. It didn’t disappoint and it kept on giving! The whole menu sounded fab - all gluten free oats and made with oat milk - but I had to try the mulled pear oats, greek yogurt, and stem ginger and cinnamon honeycomb. Sensational! If porridge isn’t what you’re after, there is also a cabinet of delicious pastries at breakfast and a tasty selection of lunch items for later in the day. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and the vibe pays homage to a cosy and quiet 1970’s living room, with crockery to match! Thank you for a delicious breakfast and I am looking forward to my next visit, so I can try the rest of the menu!

We were staying in the nearby Travelodge so needed a place for breakfast. We found Morridge and returned every morning for a wonderful bowl of porridge and well made coffee. We didn't realise that the oats were gluten free or that oat milk was being used until we noticed the sign! The porridge tasted delicious. Friendly staff and lovely ambience added to the experience.

A unique treat that I can't wait to repeat! I can take or leave porridge but this is THE best porridge I've ever had (Mulled Pears, Greek yoghurt, stem ginger & honeycomb crumb). Gluten free oats & oat milk combination was also perfect for my diet requirements. Highly recommend anyone to sample their take on a classic breakfast. Looking forward to visiting again & work through the menu. So impressed, I purchased their home made Grenola to try. Simply sublime - well done Morridge!

I have become a regular visitor to Morridge for my porridge fix, whether for weekend brunch, a little trip out with my dogs, or pre office breakfast. I try to work my way through the menu and have never been disappointed. The food is high quality and there is clear attention to detail in the presentation. The Independent Birmingham discount and loyalty cards are a bonus! The staff are also always friendly and welcoming. I have already recommended it to a friends and colleagues (and created a few additional Morridge porridge addicts!) and will continue to do so to support this fab business!

An excellent independent coffee shop in the Great Western Arcade in Birmingham. A great range of porridge, cakes, bakes and a very tasy vegan breakfast roll. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Recommended!

Porridge is really nice with interesting flavour combos. However, at £10+ for a takeaway coffee and porridge/overnight oats pot (with no incentive for bringing your own cup), it’s just too expensive, sadly.

Popped in to have a quick snack, ordered '___ Salmon Sandwich', 'Tea' & 'Espresso'. Once the sandwich arrived, it was a bit soggy but drinks were really good. One thing they can improve on is to have cleaner tables. Rather than that, staff members were friendly, the environment was really cosy and warm. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a quick snack.

This cosy little coffee shop is one of Birmingham’s best independents. I’ve stopped by plenty of times for a caffeine hit with one of the homemade sweet treats, but this time it was a visit for the proper breakfast experience. My partner had the porridge and I have the pancakes — both were just as heavenly and flavourful as each other. Honestly, adore this place. The food, the people and the decor create this little chill oasis in the middle of the bustle of the city centre.

Hello It has been a while since the service of the restaurant has been bad. Unfortunately, a problem occurred for the third time and I decided to write this time. I ordered food that instead of barberry, they put plain chalou pilaf And then when I called, he said that the cook says as far as I remembered!!!!!

We visited The Colmore yesterday afternoon 4/11 with the intention of popping in for a quick civilised drink away from the hustle & bustle of the German market. Whilst enjoying a lovely glass of Prosecco in comfortable / plush surroundings with gorgeous smells emanating from the kitchen, we decided to stop longer and enjoyed another drink and a leisurely lunch. We perused the menu and even though the lovely lady server was kind enough to offer her recommendation of the cheesy garlic bread with nouja as a lighter option when she heard us say we didn’t want much., our mouths were already watering from reading about all the different pizzas, so we opted for the carnivore pizza, olives and bbq dip. WOW- I’ve always said my favourite pizza was one we enjoyed in Naples years ago and no UK restaurant has ever come close to this - however the colmores pizza is now my joint best ever pizza - cooked to perfection, served piping hot and plentiful toppings which covered the whole base- an absolute taste sensation and the BBQ dip was sublime. The colmore ticks all the boxes - for super service, lovely surroundings, fabulous food & an extensive selection of different drinks.
