Rico Libre in Birmingham

Fancied something a bit different booked this restaurant as it had high trip advisor rating,We took our own wine and when we asked for glasses they were hot out of the kitchen,it took a while and the food to come out and it came out bit by bit,the tapas dishes we not spectacular,as we were coming to the end of our main dishes a waitress came out of the blue and handed us our bill at this point we hadn't even finished our drinks or selected dessert.....apparently they needed the table,talking about the table if a table is going to rustic with its natural cracks in at least keep the table clean there was all food and bits stuck from who knows when! I think the table timing situation could of been handled alot better,after alerting another member of staff of what happened we were offered to be moved to another table but in all honesty the weather was awful that night and the resturant had already emptied and it wasn't like there was a que of people waiting to come in. After that abrupt experience we didn't stay and have dessert!

If you are looking for a reasonably priced tapas eating place, then come here. About 3/4 mile out of the City Centre in the Digbeth area and located within the Custard Factory arena. The food is OK and well presented and along with a limited drinks list, which is fine. However, if you are looking for an intimate tapas restaurant don’t bother. Some tables are only 475mm separation which allows listening to the adjacent table’s conversation East and West. Sat down at 18.00 and departed at 18.50… olives, drinks and four tapas consumed… tables are small and can be overwhelmed by the tapas delivery in short succession… won’t be com8ng here again. It’s gone South since we were here in May 2024

This could be great, but it was just ok! Bland and quite overpriced. I've eaten Spanish tapas in Spain and in the UK, and unfortunately the tapas here lacked flavour ! The meat selection for £18 was definitely not worth the money. A disappointing visit and would not recommend.

The restaurant is a hidden gem. Nice setting in Digbeth. Although the restaurant was busy our food arrived without much a wait. The food was tasty. Service was polite and friendly

The tapas at this restaurant is unique. The plates are varied and generous, all well served and extremely well presented to al a carte style.

Happened upon the place by chance and what a stroke of luck it was, the food is superb, really fresh and good sized portions. We had 8 dishes between 2 and struggled to eat it all, the Rioja was good too and very reasonably priced as well. The staff were friendly and attentive, all in all can thoroughly recommend the place.

Amie was amazing really knowledgeable about the menu and so friendly!! Definitely will come again just for the creme brûlée if nothing else!

This was my first visit to Rico Libre since it has moved to new location. Restaurant very light, airy and clean. We started off at a high table with stools and couldn’t get our knees under … staff quickly moved us to a more suitable table. We ordered 3-4 dishes each and everything was beautiful. Good size portions, and all dishes were excellent. It’s easy to over order but we didn’t leave much. You can take your own drinks with each person having a £4 charge or get drinks from the bar. Staff were very friendly however service was slow when waiting for dessert menu and also to clear tables. Dessert menu was on a blackboard and was difficult to read as some of the chalk was smudged. Restaurant closes at 10.30pm Friday evening and we sadly felt rushed to leave as staff were waiting to close. Besides these small issues we had a fab evening and would definitely return

one of the best meals I've had in ages. great food. everything was really tasty. restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and there were a couple of dishes we had to chase up otherwise they wouldn't have arrived. but there was no doubting the quality of food

Had a wonderful meal at Rico Libre. All of the dishes were delicious and you can really tell the chef take care over what they do and offers attention to detail. Service was friendly. I highly recommend tapas here and you certainly will not leave hungry.

Excellent food and friendly service; amazing cocktails and draft beer a nice tipple also; attending a concert at a nearby venue; so very convenient for Digbeth; when next in the area would definitely go back.

A lovely little tapas restaurant in the heart of trendy Digbeth. The food and atmosphere was great. The portions are generous. Our server Muminah offered to make us delicious non alcoholic cocktails and added small extra touches to the birthday cake!

Came with a group of 10, and considering the group size everything was so smooth and efficient. Cocktails were lovely, everyone loved their food and service was really great. Really nice ambience. Pork cheek was 10/10. Lots of veggie options. Bushra served us, she was really attentive and helpful, and also Josh was lovely! Really great night definitely recommend :)

Rico Libre is well worth the walk from the City Centre through Digbeth to the Custard Factory. The tapas were all of extremely high quality, the atmosphere was vibrant and the service was attentive throughout - altogether a high quality, memorable evening.

Excellent food, service and ambience!! Highly recommended! We visited with a big group for my birthday - we brought wine and beer and paid the £4 per head BYOB charge, which is excellent value! The food was great and portions of tapas were big. The staff were all great- so helpful. It was an excrement experience

The food was lovely but arrived 15 mins before the drinks. We’d eaten 3/4 of our food before any drinks had arrived. Kitchen was super quick, bar staff work at a glacial pace. The wait staff weren’t attentive and we seemed like a burden for just being there.
