We visited this place twice for food during our stay. Nice bar with a good atmosphere. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The waiter on our first visit was very attentive and provided great service however the second visit the waitress was not so attentive. We had to ask to order food after waiting a while. she also forgot the drinks order and had to be reminded which was a bit disappointing after having such a great experience first time around.

Came across this place in a myriad of options locally. What a find ! Initially only for a drunk but then decided to eat..was looking at menu which looked reasonable. We also noted the hit food counter and my wife asked more. Basically a great option of multiple foods at a great price of £8. Only xatch was this food ended at 17.00 but we snuck in! Amazing value and honest food. Staff were all freindly and accommodating. We arrived as strangers but left feeling like freinds. Having since seen other reviews I would honestly say this is definitely worth a visit..

I visited this bar on a busy day just before Xmas. The state of the bar was unbelievable, glasses were piled high from one end of the bar to the other. Floor staff just kept piling them up instead of someone going behind the bar and clearing. Meanwhile, we waited about 20 minutes for our drink and had to accept the beer they had available instead of the beer we ordered.

I was a little disappointed to say the least.. we went in at 6.30pm on Friday evening, just 3 of us, upon arrival we were informed that they were out of "big steaks" just the smaller ones available (at 6.30pm?) and they were also out of venison. The waiter ran through the 2 specials at record speed, even though we're Irish, we couldn't understand a word! Moving on to the remainder of the menu.. apart from steak and burgers, very little choice. My partner ordered a steak sandwich which came out cold... l ended up with a very dry chicken and leek pie. A little more diversity would be nice... sorry Morning Star, won't be back.

Its a couple of years since I've been in The Morning Star. Its changed but not for the better! The welcome was dry and not welcoming and while it might work with some I found it out of place! A take it or leave it attitude! I had told the others in my party that it was a great place but honestly I felt let down and in turn I'd let them down!!! The service was not good as at the start there was a barman attempting to cover the bar, orders, service and greeting, this was unfair I felt on the person, but it reflected outward on not only us but others too! The sharing starter was good and the portions were good. My ribeye steak "burger/sandwich was tasty but cold! My wife said the pie was just ok, the chicken burger was big for sure but perhaps a bit dry. Look it fed us, but honestly it wasn't the Morning Star I remember and enjoyed! Its now stuck trying to to be something it isn't anymore. Dickybows don't suit the place especially when the cutlery could be found in a greasy spoon diner!!! In my opinion, it would be better to remember your roots and get back there! Its a shame to be writing this about what was a memorable place to meet and eat!!

My “fresh” burger arrived 10 min later by this time my husband was finished eating. Definitely not a fresh burger . Very bad attitude from “food manager” who argued and contradicted me about the food . She then proceeded to go behind the bar and very unprofessionally spoke about me to two staff members one of which I presume was the bar manager. Coley, the cheapest white fish you can think of. Then they add a 10% tip onto your bill as standard for bare minimums service, so two average at best pub grub for the guts of near 50 quid sterling. Have been coming to this place for the last 15 years and will not be returning to it anymore - the service absoutley stinks in here & management doesn't care either, Stood at the bar for 25 minutes while 2 staff are drying glasses standing looking at me and other customers waiting for a drink .. I actually had to ask the bar staff was it table service or can drinks be ordered at the bar and was told its ideally only table service but they will get us a drink at the bar :) When we got our table nobody came near us to order our food or even drinks for that matter. Every single time you have to flag staff down and tell them your ready to order or what you want otherwise they don't come near you. They then also then had a service charge added for a table of 3 people which I had removed because the service is pants & I always tip so had great pleasure in having this removed. After dinner we then waited to see if anyone would come with a dessert menu for us and they didn't but we had a few drinks anyway but did want a dessert, A waiter brought our bill and we told him we weren't done yet we were wanting to order dessert but because a big Christmas table came in and they needed the space they told us we had to leave in 10 minutes and we couldn't even have our dessert - at no time were we told we only had our table for a certain time period. Food is nice but not worth the hassle and agro with it all - won't be returning.

Went to the restaurant for the first time - with high expectations. Went specifically for Sunday roast - and to be fair, it was a really good one. We had roast beef, one of us had beef chicken burger, one of us had fish of the day. To be fair - all above dishes were excellent, roast was absolutely fantastic all around (braised cabbage, which wasn't overcooked- excellent addition), home made gravy almost as good as mine... you get the picture. No complaints on the starters either - chicken wings were top shelf. Why 3 stars on a food - well. I suspect that dessert wasn't plated & garnished bu the chefs ( I refuse to believe that same people who produces outstanding first two cources would have allowed it to go out). And again, chocolate tart I ordered was beautiful, but - the strawberry used as a garnished... well, let's just say it should have been thrown away about 2 days before. The restaurant was majorly understaffed, which especially became obvious by the time we finished our mains and restaurant got busier.

The food from the restaurant upstairs was absolutely amazing and probably one of the best meals I’ve had in quite a while. We got the Potted Beef to start, which was phenomenal, the meat was melting in my mouth and the gravy rich and delicious. I have the Chicken Parmigiana (which is one of my all time favourite meals) and this is hands down the best one I’ve ever had (outside of Australia)! My partner got the Fish & Chips and being Kiwi’s, it’s hard to beat back home, but he said his meal was great and so fresh. Promoted as one of the top 30 Sunday lunch pub spots in UK, we had high hopes that were soon dashed. It took just over 2 hours to receive one shared starter, main each and one shared dessert. The food was average and service very slow. The price was well above average with extra gravy a princely sum of £3.75 and a subpar cappuccino that was essentially warm milk costing almost £4. I ordered the cauliflower cheese as an additional extra and was disappointed to find that after waiting over an hour the cauliflower was still rock hard in the middle. For the money we paid we should have went to some of the more expensive restaurants that we know do excellent Sunday lunches. In future we will. Sadly do not recommend at all.

Having made a reservation we were seated in a half full restaurant well to the back of the house. Not a great seat. I read the menu before and was excited to have a nice steak for a change. This was not to be. to me a 28 day dry aged medium rare rib eye would be tasty and to my liking. It was cooked medium or more and was not juicy as I usually have a rib eye. The Baby gem Salad was the only one on the menu and barely ranked as a salad. a few leaves and some dressing. On the up side the Pork belly bites were tasty and hot. The roast beef was well done and not really tender. Over all we were disappointed.

A cracking evening for a big group of us upstairs. Eoin and Michael looked after us very well. Great Guinness and great food. Super evening.

Door staff didn't let us bring in food, even though it was from the vendor inside. Their communication isn't clear, and it ruined what was going to be a fun evening.

Situado justo al lado de la Titanic Experience este es un bar / bistró que admite perros que era un lugar popular cuando visitamos. Solo bebidas, así que no puedo comentar sobre la comida, pero el personal era acogedor y las bebidas estaban bien.
