We saw this pub while walking to the Titanic museum and decided to go that night. Great pub, very friendly staff and a great band performing Irish music. We booked to go back for Sunday lunch next day before we flew home and it was excellent

Group of 6 adults popped in for some drinks. This spot is great for a casual drinks. Tried their Guinness and wasn't disappointed. Thumbs up all round

Amazing vibe, so old school and tasty food!

Sat down at 4pm. Restaurant was hardly busy. No one came to serve us or even cared. So we went to long johns fish and chips instead!

Typical Irish bar, the food was quite nice, we ordered the typical stew, sausage and mash, burgers. Their prices are reasonable £20 per person with the option to choose two dishes (starters, main courses or dessert) Pleasant attention and very attentive staff. The beer was very good

We were walking to the big fish when we passed in front of this restaurant and saw the sign that it was the oldest building in Belfast. And it was a pleasant surprise!! The place is old, with a limited lunch menu and very friendly service. We ordered the steak with potatoes, chicken wings and fish and chips. All delicious. A couple of history with a good meal.

Very cool little pub but the service was dismal. Not even a hello and I had to go try to find someone to let them know we were there. After about 15 mins we finally got menus. Walked out after just one pint without ordering food. We were hungry and after reading reviews we thought better of it.

Had a lovely meal with my mum for mother's day. The food was amazing and staff very friendly and attentive. Mum had the stuffed chicken and all the trimmings and I had roast beef. We both had lemon meringue pie. Will definitely be back again soon 🤩🤩

Booked for Sunday dinner and it did nog disappoint. Delightful warm welcoming vibe and venue. Stuffed chicken and roast beef. Guinness and Prosecco. It was absolutely fantastic. Fab atmosphere. Music was great and staff were brill

Authentic Irish pub located next to the Albert Clock. Absolutely must visit for the unique atmosphere and refreshing drinks. Food was great as well as having 2 course for £20 promotion. Highly recommended

We were on a cruise ship tour of Belfast pubs & bars, and this was one of our stops. It's not the oldest pub in Belfast (established in 1711), but it is supposedly the oldest building in the city. There was a group of musicians playing and singing traditional Irish tunes, and the music alone was worth the visit. A great way to experience some of the Irish culture in an enjoyable atmosphere. They had a wide range of beers and ales to choose from, and I tried the Belfast Black, which wasn't bad. It was a great tour which got better and better with each stop. Or maybe that was because they provided us with another drink at each pub.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon. It was very busy and we were lucky to get a table inside. The food was great and the service excellent, friendly and helpful staff.

No price list is visible, bar a few handwritten ones on a few of the bottles of spirits, so you call in expecting a "normal" price. A double vodka and coke and a single gin cost £20. So no matter how beautiful the pub is, the very friendly staff and the food looked fantastic I just couldn't stay as that is in my opinion a crazy price. Others obviously disagree as there were a few people in and the pub is indeed lovely, but the arena across the way was similar priced and you fully expect a higher price at events not the "local"

Oldest pub in Belfast, well worth a visit

This is the second time I have tried to eat in this bar. Bare in mind it wasn't very busy they told me would be 60 min wait

The beer is good, the food and service is not. We waited 1.5 hours to get our mains, when they arrived they were either burnt, cold or microwaved to oblivion. Even though the manager knocked 50% off the bill it still felt like a total rip off. We certainly won’t be rushing back!

Accueil très chaleureux, très serviable. Il n'y avait plus de table à notre arrivée, on nous a proposé de s'installer sur un mange debout, en nous emmenant des tabourets. Dès qu'une table s'est libérée, le garçon nous a fait signe et on s'est installé avec nos pints pour déguster le ragoût irlandais. Merci pour le moment agréable. On est vraiment dans le pub irlandais 100%. Décor, ambiance, accueil et bière fraîche irlandaise.👍👍👍

The food was really good. We had sausages and mash, soup and fish and chips. We enjoyed our food thoroughly. The atmosphere was great with Christmas decorations and all.

Great beer service what more could you ask for

Lovely welcome in McHughs on a bleak grey December day. Female bar staff were welcoming and so knowledgeable about the range of ales and stouts, talked us through them and helped a choose some VERY tasty beers. Lovely bar, didn't try the food but wouldn't have hesitated. Would love to go back. Thanks guys!

After a shaky start to our Sunday we crossed the bridge and walked into first bar we met and didn’t leave. It was that good we forgot to eat until we got home several hours later!

Basic pub grub not restaurant quality and expensive. Starters were ok 7/10. Main course 5/10 . Dessert 3/10. Also prices on menu do not include VAT so 20% more than menu displayed. Overall I would rate 5/10 and would not be recommending it .

Had a company Christmas dinner party here. Food was served quickly and was of good quality, especially the fillet of seabass with delicious cauliflower cheese. Drinks wise it's a bit of a disappointment as Heineken is not served nor are any German or Belgian beers. (Heverlee being brewed by Tennant's, ie not Belgian at all). Downstairs is like fish in a barrel.

I wanted to come in here last summer when I pass by this place. Didn’t imagine it’s happening so fast! Really enjoyed the meal, hearty and not too heavy. The menu is a bit different from my expectation because of the festive season. I was coming for the famous boxty and was lucky to find them still present as part of the main dishes. Confit duck leg is flavorful, with a crispy skin. Boxty comes in a delicate golden crust, smooth, airy, and not heavy at all. A tall mashed potato pancake. (It’s hard to choose between the pump boiled and fried one and flat grilled one, but the former is the lighter option.) The tomato bean coddle is simply tasty, and the pieces of bacon add smokiness. The smoked black tea (Lapsang souchong), which I don’t usually drink at home, some how gives a Christmassy, fireside feeling. The staff are very friendly and cheerful and really familiar with the menu for recommendations and insights. The area is spacious with well-lit spots, which is unusual for pubs— great for reading ^^ The historic buildings itself is important for history lovers. The price us decent for the taste and portion!

Dead simple, if you want a great night out go there. The craic is 5 star.

Our first evening in Belfast and came across McHughs, the oldest building in Belfast, great place to eat, food delicious & staff very friendly.

Very interesting place with a storied past. Food and drinks were inexpensive and large servings. I would say the food was OK, nothing extra but perfectly acceptable.

餐點味道很不錯，都很好吃。 平日中午用餐時間，還是有很多人，大家喝了酒講話就會比較大聲，用餐時一直覺得有點吵。 原本是從另外一邊進入，等半天還是沒看到服務人員來點餐，後來走到另外一邊，要讓服務人員看到你，才會送上菜單和提供服務。

Love love loved it!! Traditional Irish bar oozing with history and atmosphere, along with warm, friendly welcome from staff. We were lucky enough to enjoy 2 different traditional musician groups playing and singing beautiful folk music. And actually think they just meet up to jam together, not booked.

What a place, come over to belfast for two nights and we went here the first night, we liked it that much we went again the second night. Staff brilliant and on the second night we had a right good chat with Sean who was so knowledgeable and great to talk to. The food is fantastic, so tasty and huge portions. The atmosphere was great throughout the pub especially when the locals play traditional Irish music. Definitely top of our list to visit again when we come back. I had a fish and chips and an IPA from a local brewery. Before choosing a drink, the waitress offered me some tastings of the beer to be able to decide. Thank you for the lovely service and the amazing food😊

Wonderful visit here. Service dropped off as we coincidentally were there during a shift change, and our waitress went home. But the food was FANTASTIC, and way beyond pub grub. Roast Duck, Sausage and mash, etc. Great atmosphere. Truly enjoyed our trip to McHughs!

First time at the weekend to. See Jet Black Tulips play in the basement. We sat upstairs in the bar for a while before hand, full or character with love music. Staff were great, everywhere was clean and atmosphere was brilliant.

We stumbled upon this place on our first day in Belfast. I spent two weeks in Ireland and roamed the entire country. This was the best meal I had! The bangers and mash were just exceptional!
