Great little restaurant/pub. We were on our way to another restaurant and saw this one, menu looked ok so we decided to eat there. It’s Belfast city so didn’t expect much from any restaurant in the city. Food was great, large portions and tasty. Staff were fantastic, really really friendly and attentive without being pushy.

The food has not been good every single time we have tried it. Ordered chicken wings on our most recent visit and they were genuinely bad. Barely a bite of meat on them and the drowned in an oily sauce.

Would be zero stars if it wasn’t for the atmosphere and the friendly staff. What they charge for a cocktail - £11.95 - is absolutely disgusting for the standard of drink!! I’m happy paying a decent price if it’s a good cocktail - at the start of our trip into Belfast today I got one in another popular bar for £10.50, in Granny Annie’s they charge £11.95 for what is practically a glass of ice! I got about 3 sips out of mine, and my hubby who got a Pina Colada couldn’t even get a sip between the ice and the froth. We have been here several times both for food and drink but we most definitely will never be back - it appears you are upping the price and very much lowering the standards!

Service was a bit slow but not the worst, the food we had was overall bland. My wife had the linguine and the chicken had absolutely 0 flavour and the chicken burger was tough as leather. Definitely worth a visit for the decor inside, maybe other items on the menu are better.

Food was deeply sub-par even by chain standards. Atmosphere was very aggressive. While there I decided to check reviews to see if they were just having an “off night”. Absolutely shocked by several reports of sectarian singing in the bar , the band playing Republican songs and people joining the “shouting of IRA chants. “. Heard sectarian and foul language without any intervention. Accent and bad language suggests people from less salubrious part of the City. I think I spotted a couple of blue ink “prison “ type tattoos - and that was only the women. Suggest management clamp down on sectarianism - they’re alienating at least 50% who find it offensive and another 30% who think it lacks class. Some education of staff in this field to “ nip it in the bud” needed too. I write as someone who wants every business in Belfast to do well.

While I was there I googled the reviews and read the reports of Republican songs etc staff intervention. The reports didn’t surprise me from overheard loud conversations. I expect better and less partisan behaviour reports in the City centre.

Three ladies from Portrush decided to have a night out in Belfast. We visited this bar on a Thursday night at about 8.30 , ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine and settled down to enjoy a few hours drinking and chat. However Despite advertising on Google and screens in the bar saying the bar was open to 1am 20 minutes later, we were told last orders were being called! We were then rushed out and the bar closed at 9pm! My friend had to walk around Belfast carrying a bottle of wine like an alcoholic! Why sell a bottle of wine when you were closing 30 minutes later! I thought Belfast people were good drinkers and enjoyed a night out! Obviously not in Belfast! Should have stayed in Portrush! They are proper party people not like these Belfast lightweights!

Bottomless brunch at £35 pp - limited choice of cocktails served in jugs. Tasted like cordial, little or no alcohol and just full of ice. The food was so unappetising and tasteless - 3 chicken goujons and a handful of fries. 4 of us went for £35 bottomless brunch and had a terrible experience. Food was awful 3 tasteless goujons, handful of frozen skinny chips & a bit of soggy salad in the bottom of a plastic basket. Cocktails were awful just jugs of ice and tasted liked diluted juice - little to no alcohol. We didn’t even finish the 2nd round. No cutlery or napkins were given, no customer service at all. We left before the 90 min time slot was up and went somewhere else. Definitely better places in Belfast for bottomless brunches.

I am only guessing but maybe the Head Chef was not there or something that day as I seen other reviews and they say the food is ok, but......The chicken ceaser tasted bland - the dressing was not good and the chicken didnt taste fresh, also the Korean chicken...chicken pieces were tough and tasteless so couldnt eat it. We got 2 Pina Colda cocktails which tasted like they had no alcohol in them. The dark haired lady at the door, in my opinion, was not friendly or inviting. This place was perhaps the most evocative of all. Very lively and full of decorations and decorations (we went there during a pride 🌈). Food: good I must say. We had two meat-based main courses, one of which was chicken 🍗 curry and the other veal. Everything was fresh in my opinion 👌 to drink 3 beers 🍺 Service: We were always served by just one waitress who was always very helpful. Atmosphere: the real highlight of this pub! The level of decoration and embellishment of this place is incredible. On the walls you can find everything: clocks, paintings, chairs and tables attached to the ceiling, even a TV 📺 There's always live music I understand by the way. Really🔝 regarding the atmosphere. Price 💶: €66 for two main courses and 3 beers. In line with city prices. You definitely have to go if you're passing through Belfast!

Poor experience at this bar. Definitely downhill since our friend last came who was also disappointed. £19.95 for a Sunday roast 2 course (which we didn’t think was bad)…. We didn’t decide to opt for 2 courses as we were disappointed with our lunch in the first place. Received our bill and our one course was £18.85!! If we had known it was this steep we would’ve had another course anyway. The dinner was disappointing and we got charged for extra gravy which was a shock (they also didn’t make us aware until we got the bill). A pint of lime and soda was more expensive than a full fat coke which was also a shock. Overall regardless of price, the dinner was below average and didn’t feel home made. Lady that served us was friendly and welcoming however didn’t inform us of the price without 2 courses or the charge of an extra gravy boat.

We have been here a few times previously when in Belfast and enjoyed great food, service and atmosphere. On this occasion we booked for early Saturday evening and had an absolute blast of a time. the place was manic with parties, a DJ and at least one Hen Party but we were given a table almost at the far end where we could talk but still appreciate the music and dancing. The starter was excellent, which we shared, as it was ample. I was being treated so had the rump steak rare - cooked to perfection and one of the best that I have had to date (the previous best was from this same restaurant). Wine was perfect and reasonably priced. Glad we returned here and glad we booked in advance - BUT - the best was to come. My partner lost her expensive prescription sun glasses down the back of her seat and didn't realise until she was home. She returned the next morning and couldn't be more appreciative of the helpful management and staff who quickly located the missing specs - big sighs of relief and bigger thanks to Grannie Annie's Kitchen. We will be back!

5 of us were out for the "Bottomless Cocktail Brunch" [Saturday 29th June '24] which cost as advertised for GA £35 pp' which we thought ok we'll go for it! as we have tried this type of eating out before and it had gone really well ,This was our first visit to try Granny Annie's Belfast!. But to our huge disappointment there was a timeframe of 90 Mins for you to be expected to finish a very large jug of cocktail of choice from a small menu!, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE springs to mind here!!! As when we were nearing the time limit none of us had finished the 1st jug, we were informed by a member of staff that we could have a refill once the drink was finished! [all good if you are a fish!]. However, when under pressure to consume in a given time it's off putting 'Granted, we were offered to take the remainder of our beverages to the outdoor seating provided but still we would not have been able to finish off a full jug each ,not a chance! Our table was originally booked from 2.30 to 4.30 , I would like to know, why book a 2 hour window if after 1 hour 15 min (not even 90 minutes they had spoken about!!) this was 3.35 we were told they need the table back by 3.45 !' As far as value for money goes it is actually (or felt very extortionate pp for what you get !) and just to make things slightly more awkward the bar person(s) decided we could have more ice than the actual cocktail drinks!!! 🧊 we managed to shovel out most of it to try and obtain the flavour of the contents of the jug ! As a group of friends we WILL NOT be using Granny Annie's again and most certainly WILL NOT be recommending as a good venue for a girls day/night out in our experience!! May I suggest that GA review it's policy as it stands and provides it's customer's of the bottomless brunch proper cocktail glasses to enjoy instead of tumblers ! It would make a massive difference to the paying guests! If other establishment's do the similar offer with proper recepticles to enjoy the occasion why can't GA ? To justify the way GA works with their "Bottomless Brunch"i might suggest a reduction in price !! It felt very like a fast food outlet in our experience! As Shania Twain would famously sing .......You don't impress me much !! Kind Regards Unhappy Customers

The decor is very pretty in the pub, but I would not recommend it for food or service. The roast I tried was very average and the food presentation was not good either. I would suggest serving the food on a smaller plate so it does not look as empty, the broccoli on the side looks very sad (even though the portion size is huge). The servers were rushing and were possibly tired around noon time, all interactions were very dry and rushed, I did not feel welcome.

We ordered from the list of only 4 cocktails to find it arrives in a jug full of ice to pour into glasses full of ice! And they confirmed our table was for 2 hours but on arrival told the bottomless bit was 90 minutes. Cocktail it is not let's call it fruit juice. And you can't order another until its finished which by the end you're totally sick looking at your jug!! ! Complete rip off and waste of your money just don't do it! Pros: - nice enough atmosphere - fast and friendly service - amazing live music Cons: DO NOT order the cajun cauliflower pasta if you’re not a MASSIVE fan of onions. The pasta was good, the sauce was good, but I don’t know what happened because two in three spoonfuls I took were 100% exclusively (mostly) raw onions. Seriously, there was so much onion. Now I like onions as much as the next guy, so I just kept eating and thought nothing of it… oh what a mistake I had made. Kept me up half the night because my stomach had never had to deal with so many onions in one go before. Every time I burped, the stench of onions filled the room and my throat burnt with the fire of a thousand flames for twenty minutes. Had to take a domperidone to get to sleep, and I STILL smell like onions 24 hours later. If you own this restaurant: nice place, but PLEASE amend your Cajun cauliflower recipe.

For what you pay is not worth it. My partner had the steak and requested medium rare, which came out blue It was fine bar the fact it was cold to touch. The portion sizes could be better or at least taste better. And I know drinks aren't cheap but 92 quid for 4 drinks, 2 starters and 2 mains is mad. We honestly had cheaper that included a bottle of wine and 4 drinks and starters, mains and desserts. It's more of a party night with the girls than a date night place tbh.

However, the employees' attitudes were rude. The waiters were throwing the orders at our table and did not have the courtesy to respond to our thanks. They were very sullen. Even though the atmosphere of the place is nice, I don't think it can be recommended for the rest.

Great atmosphere, very nice staff. Food was served hot. But please wipe those tables once in a while...sticky. 🙈

We were recommended to this place by a tour guide and it did not disappoint. The roast dinner and dessert were fabulous - tasty and great portions.

Group of 6 adults. We popped in on the off chance of getting a drink and something to eat after the St Patricks day parade. The doorman/bouncer was helpful in finding us a table but it was right at the back of everything. We enjoyed our drinks and meal. The steak & ale pies were excellent and the Sunday lunch was a great portion size. The only thing that let this place down was the waitresses or lack of them. Really slow service and took ages for us to get the bill. Other than that I would think this place would be great for a night out.

I visited Granny Annies last Friday, 5th April, it was 7.30pm and I had my cousin with me. It was a quick.stop as I was catching a train back to Bangor, where I live. We'd only been there a maximum of 15 minutes, we hadn't spoken to anyone except to order a drink (which we didn't get to drink) one of the bouncers, door staff, whatever they call themselves told my cousin and I that we had to leave,we were given absolutely no reason, we were not allowed to finish our drink,I was extremely shocked. I have contacted the management of Granny Annies and explained everything to then, they took lots of notes,I told them to look at CCTV and speak to the doorman involved, they have that right..all of a sudden...they have gone very quiet

We went in for a quick bite to eat we got starters but the portions were massive. Nice atmosphere and setting and the staff were very nice. There was live music at the time which made the experience even better. The cocktail deal is very good aswell

Six friends arrived for lunch in McHughs on our annual day out in Belfast together and were shown to the upstairs restaurant area. All very nice , exposed brickwork showing its historical past ,nice views etc. We all ordered the Irish Stew and some beers - a safe bet one might say!The waiter was friendly and helpful. The stew however was dreadful - very few potatoes not much meat and what there was ,was swimming in gloopy, odd tasting gravy. We were a local group from rural Ards who know their Irish Stew ,but everyone was disappointed at what was presented. After pointing out this issue we had to ask to see the manager . She arrived and after looking at what remained in the dishes she said she would speak to someone and disappeared. That was the last we saw of her. No ‘sorry about that and hope you come back again’ - nothing ,she just hid.We finished our beers ,asked for the bill , from which the stews had been removed and paid for the beers. We were astonished the manager didn’t return and there was an overwhelming sense of a lost opportunity by the manager to make the best of a bad situation. She made a disappointing meal worse by ignoring us and the issue. It wasn’t about discount or anything - it was about somebody agreeing the stew was poor and apologising. McHugh’s - get your act together for the sake of the real tourists!

Nice to see an essentially mini Trademarket re-establish itself. Really cute decor and whilst there is a roof, there’s a large gap and from the alleyway, it’s still somewhat exposed to the elements so dress warmly (and the food will cool very quickly!). I couldn’t see any signage to the toilets though which would be a nice addition. Orto pizza was really nice. Wings weren’t to my liking but not really a wing person so wing lovers can discard that! Recommend!

Unfortunately, this is my second negative experience with the food at Devenish, and I’m writing this review in hopes of helping improve future visits for others. During my first visit on a Sunday, the food was cold. My partner had to send his ribs back, which were then returned after being reheated in a microwave, still of poor quality. My Sunday roast had cold portions, including the meat, mash, and vegetables. I decided to give it another chance last weekend with friends, but once again, the food fell short. My fish batter was completely separated from the fish and lacked freshness. The chips were lukewarm, and my friends experienced the same issue. To top it off, my latte was served barely warm. It seems like food and drinks are sitting too long before being served, which affects the quality. While the staff are always lovely, I won’t be returning for the food unless these issues are addressed.

Food was lovely but the service was extremely slow. This was around 2pm om a weekday and there was only 3 other tables all with 2 people on each, in a place that has around 20/25 other tables. It wasn't that the food took a long time to be cooked but just to even get our order taken. We were given no drink menu and had to ask for one when they asked what we wanted to drink. When we received our food no one came to check how it was. After when we had finished our food, which was lovely (especially the leek soup), our plates were left to the side of 20 minutes before they were taken away. Then a further 5 mins to be asked if we'd like to see dessert menu etc. This was despite there being loads of staff on, enough actually for each table. Disappointing service for the price you pay.
