Granny Annies Kitchen in Belfast

Helpful staff in this Belfast institution. DJ was playing great tunes from the 60s and 70s but kept introducing each track which was very old fashioned. The place attracts a certain crowd of pissed up auld dolls later in the evening so we moved on.

Awful atmosphere, awful costumer service and extremely dear for drinks that contain 80 percent ice. Definitely don’t recommend, took 30 minutes for someone to come near us to place an order so we just left.

I came here last Friday with friends, delicious food, great craic and a fantastic atmosphere. the drag queens were hilarious. absolutely fantastic night, we will be back. I recommend the pan fried salmon fillet - to die for!!

Had heard very good reviews so was very disappointed with the food and service we received here, over an hour wait for our food when multiple tables seated after us were served first. Also had to ask for drinks to be delivered multiple times and some staff straight up ignored us when asked for drinks. Then when the food did come was anything you’d be writing home about to call it average would be generous.. over all terrible experience… and best avoiding the 25£ cocktail jugs after drinking two of them between 3 people we were more sober then when we had walked in.. Very little alcohol in them!!!

Called in on Thursday evening at about 20.15 for a few drinks with my wife, there was two other couples in front of us asking was it OK to have a drink only , (now the bar was not really all that busy ). To be told no by your waiter (,so you can only have a drink if eating only), maybe I'm wrong but i thought this was a licenced pub . What a shame Granny Annie's , as the other two couples were tourists. Brill advert for Belfast guys NOT !!!!!!!

The only thing your paying for is the atmosphere, it's certainly not the food or the service, decent music but food is so below par it's unreal, facilities are awful and not fit for purpose, especially womens bathrooms, staff unnecessarily short ,wouldn't come book again, so much more available in Belfast area for better value, don't believe the hype, just not worth it!

Very authentic place with super good food. Highly recommended at a medium price, in a spectacular environment. Without a doubt to go if you are in the city

La hamburguesa y el envoltorio eran encantadores, muy sabrosos, se puede apreciar que no es la larva de la más alta calidad que hemos comido, pero agradable y no demasiado caro. El bar en sí es encantador, funky, muy único y hemos venido antes durante el mes del orgullo y era aún más decorativo, se ve encantador. Sin embargo, odio las bandejas de plástico para comida. Creo que son realmente antihigiénicos principalmente por el hecho de que son de un solo uso y muchos lugares los reutilizan y no son ecológicos. Los platos serían 10 / 10 mejor, la comida que sale por el lado de las bandejas y no ser capaz de recoger ensalada uk con un tenedor es solo un desperdicio. Tengo guarnición de papas fritas. 50 con £ 2 extra de salsa de queso y tocino .. no había tocino en él y era como si las patatas fritas se habían enrollado en leche lea untable. No eran geniales... así que eso equivalía a £6. 50 solo para ellos, lo cual era muy querido por lo que eran y cómo sabían. Tarde tranquila, pero un hombre se fue tan pronto como terminamos. Parecía que estaba rondando la mesa esperando para llevarse las cosas y no nos preguntó si necesitábamos otra bebida o si todo estaba bien. Me dio la impresión de que así fue como fue entrenado y no creo que fuera intencional, me dio un poco de pena cuando seguí impidiéndole que se fuera para que pudiéramos conseguir otro, pero no había nadie cerca para preguntar. Volvería si estuviera pasando porque lo que teníamos era bastante agradable menos las fichas, pero creo que hay cosas que mejorar.

Brilliant quirky bar with good food, loved the decor

We weren’t offered the food menu when we asked it for the second time. The staff was rude ( Gabrielle ). Food and alcohol is good. Ambience is amazing.

I had the best salmon and fish today topped with friendly service.

We had some really good food and really good spirits there. The decor was certainly unique and fun. The only reason I couldn't give it five stars is because of the noise; yes, I'm too old, therefore it was too loud. If you can stand the din for a while, then this place is definitely worth visiting. I know I'll be back again to try some other dishes.

I went there for lunch in Belfast. I went to St. George's Market just before, but couldn't find anything I wanted to eat, so I found it while wandering around nearby. The restaurant was filled with live music (country music style) and was full of locals. I ordered steak pie and chicken pasta stewed in Guinness beer, and it was hearty and delicious.

Wow! Best seafood chowder in Belfast! Compliments to the chef 😍 host with the blonde hair and shirt was absolutely fab a credit to the restaurant. 6 stars! All staff very attentive throughout

The worst restaurant I've ever been to. I'm never judging the book by its cover, yet I should have done that here. The table we got was sticky, with crambs of previous customers. While the waitress was cleaning it, she threw them away on my knees. While I got my oder which was a salad, I have found a bug inside of it. While I said I'm not going to eat it, the manager started treated me as if I didn't understand english and told me it's not a bug, it is peper. I know how to differentiate a bug and a peper. After the whole situation the manager called my behaviour rude. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

First time here. Our server Gabriella was very nice. Food and drinks were good. Live music and we were lucky enough to be there when the Irish Dancers were performing. Enjoyed the 2 for £10 cocktails.

Went for the 'girls night out' with 2 cocktails, 2 courses and 1 shot. The food was amazing and the cocktails were spot on. Great atmosphere. Everything was excellent that we went back the next day for breakfast, which was also delicious. Thanks to the staff for a memorable night

I went into granny annies tonight at around 10:15pm (22/03/2025) The guy at the door asked for my ID because I look younger than 18, I gave it him it and he said okay go in so I went to go in and a guy grabbed me and said get your ID checked and I said I did and he said well do it again. So once I got in me and my friend were at the table and went to to up and get a drink. When we left the guard got right up into my mums face (he was anout 2 inches away) and said we need to leave. I was on the way back to her and the man grabbed me around the waist and said get out now, I was like give me a minute I am getting my mum. The entire time we were outside waiting for my dad the security guards were giving us dirty looks. I will not be going back to that place again!!!!!

We had an unexpected visit to Annie’s on our day trip to Belfast for my birthday which was on St Patrick’s day (the place we originally booked for food was closed). From the moment we arrived every staff member we encountered was friendly, polite and very accommodating. To say we turned up here on the busiest day of the year and the staff made sure to get us a table under the circumstances even though we hadn’t booked a table and they were incredibly busy. The drinks and food were lovely and the bill was very reasonable. The service was quick and there was always someone around checking the tables, asking if you needed anything and also clearing up dirty glasses/plates. I really appreciated how accommodating they were as us not being able to get a table anywhere after being let down by another restaurant could have really put a downer on the day as we were very hungry but they really saved the day. I would definitely visit here again and would recommend here to anyone I know going to Belfast. Thank you for a lovely time 🍀

Have extremely bad food poisoning after eating chicken wings

The stars are for the friendly staff and atmosphere. The food was not good. I got the vegetable stir-fry, advertised with a selection of veg. I was expecting something like runner beans that type of veg. It was a bowl of rice, brocoli, cauliflower and 1 or 2 baby potatoes sliced through it with lashings of what I believe was soy sauce. I had about 5 bites and left the rest. An absolute rip off at £13. Worst stir fry I've ever had. Won't be back.

A well designed Irish kitchen with a true unique atmosphere. From the entrance to the walls, the food, and the reception, everything reflected Irish art and culture. The few staff were well-organized and provided prompt service.

We had a brilliant day watching Cheltenham. Food, drinks, atmosphere and music were all brilliant! And service from staff was amazing!

Went with 6 friends for food on a Saturday night and entered to a very loud and lively atmosphere and were taken to our table. Menu had a good selection and I ordered the turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings that didn't disappoint in portion size or taste. Food arrived quickly and staff were excellent and the live band was very good also. For 7 people with no drink on the bill was £120 so very reasonable and would recommend to all.

We booked a table for Sunday club drinks and had a fab afternoon. The decor is mental and we totally loved it! Ironing boards and skis hanging off the ceiling, staircases leading to nowhere and loads of kookie little pieces dotted all over, a really unique venue. The cocktail menu was great with amazing two for one deals, such a bargain for a city centre. The staff were lush, all happy to help and made our time there such fun, they even brought some cake and sang for our birthday girl. Live music all day too and a really great party atmosphere, what more could you need 🙂

Evita a toda costa, Abróchate el cinturón que visitamos como una fiesta de 11 para mi despedida de soltera. Habíamos llamado más temprano ese día para reservar con antelación. Al principio nos dijeron que no, ya que era sábado y estaban llenos, dijimos que entendemos que somos 11. El instinto en el teléfono pronto cambió de opinión y dijo que podía apretarnos a las 7 pm! Pensamos que comenzaríamos nuestra noche aquí al llegar el portero era encantador al igual que la camarera. Nos dirigieron a la parte trasera del pub en el corazón del restaurante, mi madre sí probó suerte y preguntó si podíamos sentarnos en una de las mesas vacías en la zona del bar, ya que era más animado que nos dijeran que no, todos son reservados. Lo cual era completamente comprensible. Cuando se trata de pedir bebidas como éramos 11 preguntamos si podríamos dividir la cuenta en 3 la camarera explicó que solo puede hacer 1 cuenta, pero fuimos más que bienvenidos a utilizar el bar y pedir por separado. Entonces de la nada salió este chico blanco regordete camisa ladrándonos que 'esta área es para COMER SOLO' estábamos como bien menos agresión por favor, así que explicamos que llamamos y reservamos y en 2 ocasiones su personal podría habernos dicho que debemos comer para poder mantener la mesa! ¡Nos escoltaron fuera! Para que detenga el abuso que nos lanzan afuera. LITTLE MAN SYNDROME! ps - ¡El portero fue encantador!

Great location in the city. Live music was refreshing on a Sunday afternoon with a nice dinner that might have been a bit small. Would recommend getting a starter and extra side if you are hungry.

Good atmosphere and the staff we dealt with were friendly enough. Food left a lot to be desired though, portion sizes are good but they just don’t taste of anything. Chicken tenders were either dry or soggy and had no flavour, chicken burger was the same, looked impressive but had no actual flavour. Skinny fries were decent enough but the overall experience was lacking. Food prices are probably in line with other tourist places in the city, drinks on the pricier side but tasted half decent. Wouldn’t come again but if your looking for a large bar that serves food and has music the. It’s worth a shout.

After attending my Compliance workshop served by IANS Solicitors, I went to this place and challenged the tree, I was shocked to find out the tree was real! just like the people. Sweet, accommodating and funny.

Went for our christmas dinner with work.food was ok.the table was booked for 7.30 to 9.30 for food.tryed to order a desert just before 9 and told kitchen closed.music finished realy early. No atmosphere at all.advertised as 1am closing.we were put out in the freezing cold before 12 with our plastic cups to finish our drinks.bouncers and staff standing over us until we left.all standing with there arms folded waiting on us leaving. i understand it's a quiet time for them but we spent quite a bit of money and we were very disappointed in the whole experience. Won't be back unfortunately

I arrived here yesterday afternoon without a reservation to completely empty seating in the outdoor area. A few tables inside were reasonably full. Many, many empty. I asked the guy for a table for one. He told me, "No reservations for tonight". I could see a girl with her friend reaction in body language to suggest, did I hear that right. I strongly believe I was refused entry because of my southern accent. He wasn't the first person to treat me in this manner yesterday for the same reason. I think this person need a strong personality check and your business should be aware of what they are hiring unless this is the work ethic of the business. I won't be returning and I hope people from the south will see this post and avoid your restaurant. No respectable person deserves this insult. All Northern people are welcomed in the south.

First things first they are good at food I liked them and when it comes to kids I would not prefer them, some staff are so excellent and some would not be like who cares.

Went here for work Christmas party. Had the 2 course Christmas dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Good size portions and it was pub grub but very tasty pub grub - well cooked and delicious. Atmosphere great and even though they were run off their feet the service was excellent

Went as part of a work Christmas dinner. Awful food, service was barely passable and we were rushed out the door. £26 for two almost inedible courses is just not justifiable - the prawn cocktail tasted off and the bread was like something you could build with, the cesar salad was equally disappointing, and the chicken main was just awful. I'd say avoid if you can.

This bar / restaurant is huge , the place was packed but the nice man on the door managed to squeeze us in . Very friendly staff . As we was being shown to our sits we passed a live band , was such a great atmosphere. The meals were very quick and very big . Everything was very fresh . Excellent price , staff very attentive always making sure we had everything we needed. Toilets were lovely and clean too . Would definitely recommend this place , might be better to book as does get busy .

Christmas party night and really not impressed, starters poor, mains lovely. 3 people cancelled due to illness, informed restaurant with plenty of notice and advised had to pay the full cost of their meals. When it came to the bill they kept making "mistakes" and took 3 times to get the correct charge. I get that its a busy time of year but being over charged by £130 is a big error!

This has got to be the worst meal I have paid for. Started off well with a lady at the door kindly showing us to our table. I had ordered the fan of melon for starter, it was covered in cracked black pepper. Don't know if this was on purpose or if someone was taking the piss. Inedible. For the main meal I had ordered the mushroom wellington. A scoop of champ, some parsnips with a bit of puff pastry and a gravy boat filled with mushroom sludge. I ate a bit of it as I hadn't eaten lunch thinking I was to get a lovely meal that evening. Couldn't have been more wrong. I was beginning to think it was a dig at vegetarians as past meals there were not brilliant either but others at the table had issues with their food too. Horrible chips, inedible veg etc... I actually started to feel really nauseous and had to go home early. This lasted until the next day. Turns out I wasn't the only one at our table who felt ill. The only decent thing I have to say about this place is the friendly door staff and the dark haired waitress who had a laugh with us.

Ordered the burger. It was clear it was a frozen burger. Wasn't cooked through. Didn't look cooked at all. Came out light grey, soggy and pink all the way through the burger. And paid a ridiculous price for it. The bacon wasn't even cooked properly. Chef must have been hungover to produce that. Left most of it behind. Service was fine. The food was rotten. Never again. If I want frozen food I'll go to Tesco and buy cheap frozen burgers and cook them properly. Go 2 mins up the road to the Garrick. Same price and properly handmade burgers which are cooked with flavour. And cheaper pints.

Stumbled upon this cute little pub with a really festive atmosphere. The food choices were brilliant with a whole separate veggie menu to chose from. Food tasted amazing and was really filling. Staff were all really friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone in the area.

Llegó sin reserva, anciano en la puerta preguntó cuántos, aconsejamos 6 con 2 para seguir sin embargo, tan pronto como escuchó nuestros acentos (sureño) nos negó la entrada. Traté de decir que uno de los chicos con nosotros era la razón, cuando señalamos que no habíamos tomado 1 bebida alcohólica y veníamos de los mercados de Navidad, luego señaló de nuevo al único chico que (no estoy seguro del clima esta fue la razón) es mestizo y de nuevo dijo que es por su culpa. Todos estábamos sorprendidos por esta persona extremadamente grosera y la más antipática que nos habíamos encontrado en Belfast. Incluso el otro portero que estaba a su lado parecía avergonzado por el comportamiento de este hombre. Recomendaría a todos que se mantengan alejados de este lugar

Staff are absolutely brilliant- incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the chicken wings! Everything is reasonably priced and the cocktails are great. We had a great couple of hours. The live music was amazing too and the place was busy with a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Anyone from southern ireland, dont even bother, they will refuse you once they hear your accent. Very rude elder man on the door. Tried to say a member of our company was drunk even though we hadnt started drinking yet.

Heard good things so came on a weekend away. Only had one cocktail which to be fair was decent, but hoped to have food but when we came in…the kitchen was closed and staff seemed almost annoyed that we came in? I would understand if we rocked in at 11….but it was 7pm. What really left a bitter taste in our mouth was that half an hour after we were told that the kitchen was closed, we saw staff bringing food to other tables. Just seemed very odd, and definitely didn’t live up to the hype we were told about. Just seemed like the servers wanted to go home early and us coming in was an inconvenience to them. You’d get better service in a weatherspoons!

The absolute disaster! Because of the antique cute look that we saw from the outside while walking, we came for a dinner. Staff was rude from the beginning, food arrived 45 min after we ordered, plates were taken from us without check back while one person was still eating. And the food itself was disgusting. Vegetables weren’t cooked properly, beef was overcooked, plain simple salad was not fresh, and yorkshire pudding was full of grease. Out of the embarrassment, we paid and left, and I wish we never paid for food because my little brother vommited shortly after we left.

Great little restaurant/pub. We were on our way to another restaurant and saw this one, menu looked ok so we decided to eat there. It’s Belfast city so didn’t expect much from any restaurant in the city. Food was great, large portions and tasty. Staff were fantastic, really really friendly and attentive without being pushy.

Inmediatamente trajeron unos crayones para que el pequeño dibujara con ellos. El lugar tiene una decoración ligeramente peculiar, pero aún así muy agradable. Pedimos bebidas y revisamos el menú. Mucho para elegir dependiendo de su gusto particular. Mi esposa y yo comimos el Steak & Gunness Pie, que fue increíble, tanto filete de buena calidad dentro y puré por el que morir. Nuestra hija tenía el pollo de sal y pimienta y también dijo que era precioso. En general, un gran servicio de atención al cliente amable con excelente comida y un buen ambiente. Recomendaría este restaurante a cualquiera.

The food has not been good every single time we have tried it. Ordered chicken wings on our most recent visit and they were genuinely bad. Barely a bite of meat on them and the drowned in an oily sauce.

Here right now had the chicken curry omg god absolutely delicious portion so big couldn't finish it came with rice chips and poppadom lovely crunchy onions nicest I've tasted coming to Belfast and only found out about here recently highly recommend it 😋 😊 😀

Service was a bit slow but not the worst, the food we had was overall bland. My wife had the linguine and the chicken had absolutely 0 flavour and the chicken burger was tough as leather. Definitely worth a visit for the decor inside, maybe other items on the menu are better.

Would be zero stars if it wasn’t for the atmosphere and the friendly staff. What they charge for a cocktail - £11.95 - is absolutely disgusting for the standard of drink!! I’m happy paying a decent price if it’s a good cocktail - at the start of our trip into Belfast today I got one in another popular bar for £10.50, in Granny Annie’s they charge £11.95 for what is practically a glass of ice! I got about 3 sips out of mine, and my hubby who got a Pina Colada couldn’t even get a sip between the ice and the froth. We have been here several times both for food and drink but we most definitely will never be back - it appears you are upping the price and very much lowering the standards!

Hemos estado viajando por Irlanda y esta fue nuestra última noche antes de regresar a Inglaterra y esperábamos haber guardado la mejor comida para el final. El personal es encantador y muy amable. La señora que nos esperó fue muy agradable. Uno de nosotros tenía la hamburguesa bml que era agradable, otro tenía la hamburguesa de pollo, pero no era nada especial. Cuidado si quieres mayo como el pequeño. pot es un adicional de £ 1. Tomamos 24 4 1 cócteles y no se podía probar ningún alcohol. No diría que eran las mejores hamburguesas pero el lugar y el personal hicieron que fuera una buena noche y con la música se podía ver por qué era popular.

Tenía una Margarita Pizza congelada al microondas. Era peor que la pizza de la cafetería de la escuela. Recubrimientos insípidos y corteza empapada. El servicio fue amable y eficiente. Comida, inexcusablemente de mala calidad. La pizza incluso se cortaba en rodajas que se apilaban unas sobre otras haciendo avanzar aún más la pizza de imitación empapada, desordenada e insípida. ¡Qué decepcionante!

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. So glad we came here. Our server Ciara was so lovely and accomodating. I really enjoyed the nachos and seafood chowder. Everything was clean and very well organised. A must visit!!

A huge restaurant in the legal district of Belfast. The place is beautiful, very decorated and particular, then the staff is efficient and the menu is very rich with practically trattoria-like dishes. All very delicious! Prices ok, they even have a fixed menu to save some money
