Morecambe Bay Chowder Co in Lancaster

After a recommendation from a friend and, knowing the hostelry's reputation for beer, I felt I ought to sample the chowder. Wholesome, full-flavoured and cooked "just-right" for me, and served piping hot in a comfortable and upbeat environment, by kindly supportive professional staff.

Absolutely a wonderful place, so clean, spacious and very friendly staff. What more can you want. So glad we were recommended to come.

As lovers of chowder we have struggled to find nice places to eat in Morecambe. However Morecambe Bay chowder company within The Bath pub on Northumberland Street was a struggle no more. Delicious chowder soup with a choice of varieties and toppings was absolutely delicious. Will be back for more!

The fish chowder (£12) lived up to expectations and was excellent with lots of fresh haddock, but when we arrived at 3pm on Saturday meant there was very little left for anyone else after we had been served, though they also do chicken chowder. We probably could have shared one hunk of sourdough bread (£2) rather than two. I went for shrimp topping (£5) and Mary chose the crispy bacon lardons (£3). I found the shrimp taste not clearly distinguishable from the chowder while the bacon made a great contrast, so that will be my choice next time we go. Don't expect a calm, quiet ambience in The Bath Tap on a Saturday afternoon, though, as it's a pub, remember, not a restaurant. Parking at Morrisons (up to 3 hours free) is pretty close if you park at the closest corner of the car park.

If you are in Morecambe and want excellent food in fantastic surroundings definitely pop into The Bath Tap on Northumberland Street. Pete and Helen’s Chowder is absolutely amazing. It’s a favourite Saturday lunchtime food experience of ours. There is traditional Fish chowder and also Cumbrian Chicken. Topped off with choices of shrimp, bacon or chorizo. Would highly recommend.

I'll start by saying YUM!!! I've had Morecambe Bay Chowder a few times now and it's absolutely delicious every time. He uses the freshest local ingredients (like fish caught the same day or day before, shrimps caught in the local area, etc), and the chowder is so delicious. The bread rolls are from a local bakery too, and his homemade anchor biscuits are a lovely touch. I've enjoyed the chowder in a few different spots, but no place quite beats sitting looking out over Morecambe bay enjoying a fresh bowl of chowder - the best way to enjoy it! A must do for locals and visitors alike.

We had Morecambe Bay Chowder at the Vintage By the Sea festival 2022. I was impressed by the Morecambe Bay Chowder company before I had even tried the food. I love that they designed their company around one dish, made from local ingredients. They seem genuinely committed to reducing their impact on the environment. Our group had a various sizes of chowder, with different toppings, with some bread rolls from a local bakery. It was all delicious. The chowder is creamy, hearty and full of flavour. Perfection! The guy who served us (I think the owner?) gave every customer excellent service, despite the pressure of having a massive queue. He obviously cared about the food and his customers. Can't wait to go back and have another bowl!

Flavorsome, nourishing and such a fun way to get your lunch. The chowder is packed with chunks of tasty white fish and you can opt for Morecambe bay shrimps on top. The fact that the boat the shrimps were caught by is visible from the stand makes it such a local supplier. A fun way to get your food, on the sea front, from a solar and pedal powered purveyor.

There is nothing like it in the area! Delicious, hearty chowder using local fish and Lancashire potatoes. You have the option to add different toppings including Morecambe Bay shrimp and a lovely locally baked roll. A pot of this sat looking out across the bay is unmatched. They update their Instagram, Facebook and website as to where they will be throughout the Bay and beyond. It is a must try I'd highly recommend supporting this local family business.

I have been wanting to go and try this chowder for ages, finally got the chance to call for our lunch last week AND it was amazing, the chowder was delicious and so quirky being served from a cute solar powered trike on Morecambe promenade. I had the medium size and my husband had the large size, it was served with crispy bacon bits, parsley and a cute anchor shaped cracker on top. You can also have lemon and Morecambe Bay shrimps. We will definitely be returning soon.

Nothing better than fresh seafood when you’re by the sea so we are happy when the Morecambe Bay Chowder Co is on the prom. Best Chowder this side of Seattle and is always delicious. Service top notch. Last time we just got a medium portion and was perfect as we were having dinner later but if you can save yourself for the bread bowl I would thoroughly recommend for the full experience. 5 stars! I've had the chowder a few times now, from the different places they serve around our local area (you can look up times and places on their website, so it's easy to know where to find them!). It's delicious and nice to have something so local and unusual. Great to support a local business. Hard to beat the prom location - near the Eric Morecambe statue. Chowder with a view :)

Had a lovely haddock chowder off Pete today.The chowder was creamy and tasty with just about right amount of seasoning plenty of haddock in it.I stood and enjoyed it with him talking about local amenties and the local produce he uses,very informative he was to.If your passing on a stroll on the seafront stop and give it a go well worth the money for a medium portion.Will defo go again when over from Grimsby.
