Pop in without a reservation. It was busy and a Saturday night. But they found us a table after a short wait. Very friendly family run restaurant. Good service and the food was excellent. All served hot. They don't serve alcohol, but you can take your own with no extra charge. Good curries and lots of spicy and flavour. Would recommend 5*

Absolutely phenomenal food here! Seriously one of, if not, the best Indian I have ever had from a traditional curry house! Fantastic food. Highly recommend the Garlic Rice 👍🏼

I have eaten in curry houses all over the country with my work travels and have to say the Chicken Karahi is the best I have ever eaten. The whole experience and ambience is comparable to an 'up country' curry house. A man and wife team who really appreciate your custom and interact in a really pleasant way. A real gem in Cornwall. Oh and reasonably priced as well.

Found the moonlight a few years ago and was the first customers to sit down and eat when they only had enough cutlery for two people. We have subsequently returned each year on our annual visit to cornwall. This is not an all "whistle and bells" type of place but if you want an honest, tasty curry then this is well worth a visit. Only sell soft drinks but shop opposite is currently doing two bottles of beer for a fiver which the moonlight will happily provide a glass for.

Had meals at the Moonlight Tandoori many times. Always lovely food. I get the impression that it is probably a family run restaurant. It certainly has a comfortable, welcoming family atmosphere. You bring your own alcohol, but with the Coop opposite, this is no hardship.

I had the pleasure of going to Moonlight this weekend on the recommendation of friends. Hands down the tastiest food we’ve had in a long time! I would like to specifically shout out the lady who was front of house, she gave us the warmest welcome and made our experience amazing from start to finish. We will 100% be returning on our next visit to the area and passing the recommendation on for sure!

When the tide is high we love to come up river and the Moonlight is where we head for. We have always had a warm welcome and delicious food and our last visit was no different. We were met at the door with a smile and welcome and we were shown to our table; we were a party of 7. Remember it’s cash only and bring your own alcohol, soft drinks are available. We’d stopped off at the Co-Op which is handily opposite the Moonlight and bought a few beers from their chiller, the Co-Op has a cash machine outside too. The Moonlight provides glasses for your drinks. The restaurant, even at 5.30, was already filling up, this is a popular place! We didn’t have to wait long for our food. The meal was fresh and delicious and we all agree that The Moonlight is one of the best, reasonably priced, tastiest Indian restaurants in Cornwall. We will be back!

Will not be returning here again. We have been several times over the last few years and always had great service and food. On this occasion the young lady serving was extremely rude and had no customer service skills whatsoever. Avoid at all costs unless you want to feel uncomfortable and insulted.

A very warm welcome from the staff, ordered poppadums with the huge pickle tray, starters and main courses. The chicken korma is one of the nicest ones I have ever tasted. No alcohol served here but you can go across the road to the co-op or bring your own. Served soft drinks though.

Restaurant did not look particularly clean and service was a bit chaotic. They did not serve alcohol and had run out of coke. All this made me wary but the food itself was excellent when it came out. Well cooked well presented and tasty. Best Indian I've had in a long long time.

I live in Plymouth and visited Lostwithiel for the day. Before we left we went to Moonlight restaurant to order a large takeaway order for the family. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff. We ordered 5 different dishes with all the trimmings,I have to say this is by far the best Indian food I have ever eaten. All the family also agreed. I have now booked a table to experience there in house service. Highly recommend.

After researching Indian restaurants around South East Cornwall, Moonlight Tandoori in Lostwithiel seems to receive better reviews than most, so 6 of us including our 13 year old, on his first Indian restaurant adventure, arrived here at 7.30 on a cold and wet Saturday evening. We arrived to an already busy restaurant, a good sign, this early in the evening. After the obligatory poppadoms and chutney tray, we ordered a good selection of meat and vegetarian / vegan mains, vegetable sides and naan. The restaurant has a ‘bring your own’ alcohol policy and we were provided with a wine / beer bottle opener and glasses. There is a Co-op just across the street with a decent drinks selection if you have forgotten to bring anything. Moonlight serves soft drinks. The food arrived in ornate metal dishes, each one filled to the brim and sprinkled with fresh herbs. Our dishes included: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Pathia, a King prawn Saag, vegetable Dhansak and a vegetable Bhuna. Sides were bhindi bhaji (Okra), lightly cooked, so the delicate vegetable hadn’t dissolved into mush, brinjal bhaji, saag bhaji, a bowl of tarka daal, pilau and garlic rice and naan bread. Everything was cooked and spiced to perfection. The Pathia, sweet with a mildly fiery kick, still slightly firm onions and tomato sauce and tender chicken, The tikka masala, creamy and rich, the dhansak slightly sweet with a rich and spicy kick. The vegetarian mains contained a good selection of fresh vegetables. Nothing was too oily and the portions both generous and very reasonably priced. We were given take-away food trays to take any left over food home with us. The hosts are friendly and welcoming with just the right level of attention given. We will be returning! Highly recommended and probably worth booking as the restaurant remained full, all the while we were there.

Just adding to the other positive reviews. Very good quality food - best curry I've had in this part of Cornwall. Very friendly and attentive owner. Surprised as others have been when told there was no licence but the owner fully expected us to buy our own at the Coop over the road , provided glasses etc. Made the drinks bill very cheap!

We had a great meal here. Chicken shashlik, chicken korma and lamb passanda. All excellent, esp with the nan and peshwari nan. Great value for the quality of food. For drink, it's bring your own but a good choice at the nearby coop. Worth booking as not a large restaurant and they have a lively take away trade.

Excellent little Indian. Gentleman in charge of front of house v attentive to all our needs. Not sure whether we wanted one rice or two, and he suggested we start with one, as we could always have a second. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. Not licensed for alcohol so took our own wine (co-op opposite if you need to nip out to get some).

I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough. The owner himself ran front of house alone and i mean, ran. If you asked for something it was there immediately. The food was exceptional and our choices were among the best of their type I have eaten, even in India. The layers of flavour that were achieved were incredible. There is no alcohol served but the Co-op over the road has all that is required and the owner immediately offered to put our second bottle of beer in his fridge. Fabulous

Nestled in one of the side streets in Lostwithiel this little gem is wonderful for a quiet Indian meal with family and friends. The food is delicious and we all had different main meals which were superb. The service was very good with the main man at front of service being very knowledgeable about all things Indian. A reasonably priced meal which I would definitely recommend. Non alcoholic drinks are available or you can bring your own wine etc.

The decor and furnishings are shabby and tired, which is a shame because they let down largely acceptable food and service. That said the pickle tray was one of the poorest we’ve tried but the main courses (dhansak and bhunas with rice and naans) were tasty and plentiful.
