What a brilliant experience.Ten of us and all very happy definitely will be back.

Food amazing and staff really friendly.

After a tiring day we decided to get food to take out. Wow. Chicken pieces were very large and the 2 dishes we got were the best we’ve had for a long time. On holiday but wish this was my local. Gorgeous food. Generous portions. The man who took the order was lovely too and went to open the door for us when we were leaving. Lovely place.

They refused to do a vegan takeaway even though advertised as vegan friendly! At least now we know not to bother calling them when visiting mevagissey.

Best curry I’ve had in Cornwall. Excellent service from two young men running the show on a busy Friday night. Family of four all had more food than we could finish so they boxed up the leftovers and the bill was £100. Superb value for money, we left a good tip as I was shocked at the bill to be honest! We’ll be making this our go-to place for a curry from now on. I’m late writing this review but they deserve great feedback.

Love this restaurant, the food is always great at outstanding value, service is so kind and friendly and the extra bonus is being able to take your own alcohol so can accompany a lovely dinner with your favourite wine every time! ❤️🍽️✨

Good food good prices great service fairly busy recommend booking so good went back for a second time and as the first great food if you like it hot try the naga.

First time visiting for a family members birthday, could not fault the food or service, really excellent food and so tasty, even gave a starter on the house to the birthday person. The only thing letting things down which was a bit off putting is the dirty decor, really not very nice to look at, staff door was awful and area to the toilets was dirty, really needs some TLC and a good clean.

Was expecting big things from this award winning restaurant, having been an award winner recently. Sadly, our meal wasn't that great. My friend and I, I would consider us being a good judge on an Indian, myself from London and friend from Birmingham We both ordered lamb madras, bhajis, sheek kebab, and pilau rice with nan. When presented with my dish, the waiter said "1 korma" and smiled. Found this a bit strange until I started on my unusual looking madras, this is where it tasted like a korma. The rest of the dish was spot on, I can't fault it but I go for a curry. Sadly won't be visiting soon

Amazing food we had a lovely time

We visited as part of our first wedding anniversary trip to St Austell and surrounding areas. The staff and waiters were extremely polite and friendly. The food was delicious and we love the atmosphere with traditional Asian music playing in the background. Situated perfectly it was a beautiful end to our day.

I’ve been here many times in the 7 yrs I’ve been coming to mevagissey. I was very disappointed with the service not the food last night. There was 5 of us dinning 2 received there starters and had finished eating them before the other 3 got there’s( well 2 did they forgot my wife’s we had to ask. I spoke with the waiter and asked if when the main courses came out could we receive them all together which I was told they should ( I know that😡). When they came we got the meals and rice but no sides to which we were asked is that everything to which I replied no the naan breads and chips were missing which we waited another 5 minutes for. I know they usually perform better than this but I was disappointed no one even apologized for the situation. The food was good but this record the whole evening. Meva spice please learn from this post as I would rather be praising you for good food rather than bad service

We’ve been coming back to Mevagissey for years and always visit Mevagissey Spice. The decor never changes, it’s as basic as it gets but thankfully neither does the quality of the food. It’s always superb. I just hope new customers visiting for the first time aren’t put off by the way it looks inside. A good makeover would make this place amazing. They don’t have a liquor license but will not charge corkage. Good service!

Three diners had veggie dishes and one had a lamb curry dish with a spiciness rating of 'two'. We were not impressed with the veggie dishes (except the dal side - which was ok). When the server came and asked if all ok, I asked if they had used sugar in my veg biriani. He said no but insisted on taking it away and bringing one which was 'spicier' - to me it wasn't a lot different, just a bit hotter. A different server came and said it was because some of the veg were sweet (agreed that e.g. carrots contain sugar, but I've had dozens of veg biriani in my time and never one tasting sweet before). Same with the veg korma. I tried a bit of a fellow diner's and it almost tasted like a dessert. The diner said maybe they had used sweet coconut milk - that korma does tend to taste slightly sweet, but not THAT sweet! Is this maybe a regional feature? The diner who had the lamb curry dish was happy with his meal and said the meat was tasty and tender. So three out of four of us were disappointed with the food, which I thought a bit expensive, especially for the veggie dishes - though quantities were generous. Maybe the fact that you can bring your own alcohol justifies the slightly higher prices. The decor was a bit bland. Could almost resemble a 'greasy spoon' cafe - nothing really to indicate it was a Bangladeshi restaurant. We noticed most other tables had brought their own wine or beer and they do not charge corkage. I am not sure if you can bring your own soft drinks. We had 4 medium bottles of mineral water, which came to nearly £15. On a positive note, service was friendly and the food came fairly quickly. I was going to give a rating of two, but because one diner was happy with his food, have given a three. Maybe it is just the veggie options that are not particularly good.

Absolutely loved our meal, nicely flavored, good amount, friendly staff, reasonable prices compared with the rest of rip off Cornwall, keep it up.

Was lovely. But also was the only place that was serving on a Sunday evening. Be warned no licence, bring your own drink.

Visited last year and really enjoyed it, visited again this month in Meva and was even better. All four of us thought the food was fantastic and couldn’t fault the friendly service. Will definitely be back when we are next in Meva.

If, like me, you live in an area where Indian restaurants are plentiful you might find the decor and the ambience a bit underwhelming but the service was first class and the food excellent with large portions. It’s not licensed but you can bring your own alcohol, glasses are provided and they don’t charge corkage.

Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Great service. My only comment is that the decor could do with an upgrade. We will be eating there again! Yum!

The place is in need of some basic TLC. The windows and sills are filthy and the toilet area not much better. Think we also went at the wrong time as lots of people getting takeaway food reduced the quality of service so not able to get advice on any dishes. Everybody has different expectations I get that did not meet mine I am afraid.

Ein Restaurant mit feiner indischer Küche, wirklich gut gewürzt. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut. Etwas Abzüge weil uns beide Hauptgerichte etwas zu süß gewürzt waren und die Wartezeiten auf Getränke und Essen doch insgesamt sehr lange waren.

Had a family Birthday party here. Can't fault the food. Very tasty and hot. We definitely weren't rushed during the evening which led to a very relaxing fun time. My one gripe is that the floor is very very slippery. I'm on crutches and nearly went flying as I entered the restaurant. Then I was told by one of our group that it's always like that. We will be back, but with grippy shoes.

A really nice Indian restaurant in Mevagissey, I had the chicken Jalfrezi and my wife had the chicken dansak with mushrooms fried rice, both meals tasted brilliant, a real depth of flavour. You take your own beer or wine with you so it works out a fairly cheap night out, thanks to all the staff for a wonderful time. 😁👍👍🍺🍺

Ordered a takeaway from these guys and what a great little place this is . Order was perfect, ready on time and food we had was al 10/10. . Mevagissey you’re very lucky to have this place! I’m 60 and I’ve had some takeaways but this is up with the best I’ve ever had . Well done Mevagissey spice 🏆

Been before, so enjoyed it! Unfortunately, on this occasion it disappointed. Service was fine, food was not. We were presented with the wrong dishes. The dishes were fine, just not as ordered. Unfortunately, our complaints fell on deaf ears. We enjoyed our evening, just not our meal. Shame.

Great take away with a menu that more than satisfied vegans and meat eaters! Prompt, timely collection.

We where so shocked, we had a paper menu and looked online for delivery to be told that we could not get a delivery. With and order of over £150 to be told that they won't deliver when the Web site and the menu say they will I am shocked. Such a shame. Very rude on the phone when we called and asked for delivery.

Absolutely lovely food....different dishes from the usual.....atmosphere was buzzing....we thought the staff did very well dispute how busy it was....our first experience of 'bringing your own' alcohol and thought it was great.....will definitely recommend it and go again .

Had a Really good meal with friends on Friday and will Book again... glasses were provided. But remember to bring your own Alcohol....They sell soft. Drink's...food was good. Which means it was good. As I don't waste my money on bad Food. Service. Enjoy.

I had madras, my boys masala, absolutely phenomenal!! Naan breads were to die for. My madras and pilau rice were cooked to absolute perfection. Would 1000000000000000% recommend spice to everyone. (Also we didn't get to eat our food until a few hours after collection and it still tasted beautiful!! 😋)

I think possibly a victim of their own success. The food was good and i think after their recent award, my expectations were very high and were not met. There was nothing wrong, but I was expecting something special. I wish I could honestly score higher for service. The young man who served us was fabulous. They were very busy at least 50 people dining all at the same time, and the poor chap was working alone. He worked very hard and certainly deserves the recognition. I guess it's a family run business, and I know recruitment is hard with very few people looking for work in such a hard environment, but he really needed the help. It's worth visiting if you're local, but dont go in expecting too much.

Beautiful food, lovely staff and altgough6 quiet (out of season) was lovely background music and very relaxing, amazing portion sizes and value for money.

Very friendly staff but the food was unbearably sweet. My curry tasted like someone had poured a bag of sugar into it.

Lovely food we go once a week haven't had a bad meal yet,nice relaxed atmosphere no rush,take your own drink which is another plus friendly staff,can be a little bit of a wait when busy....but what's the rush

Gotta love a curry. Service a little slow, perhaps down a couple of staff but food amazing. Bring your own booze.

Really nice food the service was really good nice people. We had a meal for 4 for £89. Starters and mains. Onion bhaji was nice, mains were of good size, rice you can share with 2 and naan is not too big. One thing the chicken makani was more like a korma.

We arrived as a group of 13 and all of us had an amazing experience. All food arrived quickly and was absolutely fantastic. The servers were friendly and enthusiastic, making sure everyone had everything. Deffo the place to go for a fantastic curry.

Food here is very nice, quick service and well priced. They accommodated to our group when asked about adding extra spice to one of our meals. Food came out at the same time, which often never happens for a such a large group who dropped in on late notice (13 of us) staff were lovely and very attentive. The atmosphere was good, quite busy however the decor was slightly outdated, this however does not bring down the overall score of this place due to how good the food was and how well priced it was

Often very quiet but don't let that put you off. Had a take out and it was a bit slow considering the restaurant was empty however food was great. BYOB if you are eating in.

Service was very good and the food even better. We ate here last year and it was good then, however the new owners have been in for around 9 months and this was one of the nicest curries we have had for a long time. Saag chicken and saag lamb. Good portions excellent quality. Bring your own alcohol, soft drinks are available. Lovely staff. We'll done Mevagissey spice.

Pleasant restaurant, very clean looking but lacking atmosphere possibly as there was only one other couple in there. Service was friendly by one young man. Gave up waiting for bill and presumably hot towels or being asked if we'd like coffee. We had to wait at the bar for ten minutes to pay. Food was nice and actually we would go again.

Visit this place on Monday evening, place was very quite apart from us only one customer was there, first impressions was not very good only one gentle man was in service. We order bangali specialities, I must say food was fresh and really tasty, we finished nearly all portion was in good size, but rice portion is bit small 😋. I found it bit pricy compare to other restaurants I have been.

A little gem in the heart of the town. Busy with seat-in and take out orders. Ordered takeout. Wasn’t disappointed with the quality or portions.

My wife and I had dinner here yesterday. Food was hot, plentiful and good quality. Both of the staff who served us were friendly and couldn't do enough to make our visit enjoyable. They both appeared happy to be there. The, 'BYO' alcohol is not a problem, we have used a number of restaurants with this arrangement before. It is also well displayed at various places in the windows of the restaurant. Based on my experience, do not be put off by some of the bad reviews and give it a try.

Wednesday evening. Excellent. Lucky enough to have very good Indian restaurants on the doorstep at home. So Mevagissey Spice was a home from home. Struggling with staff, they invite you to take your own alcoholic drinks but serve soft drinks. The waiter worked so hard, bless him. We had the garlic chilli chicken amazing and good portion. Saag paneer best I've had, the rest of our meal was lovely well done chef. A real delight and a very reasonable bill.

Lovely food, great portions. Would be helpful if there's a big sign saying dogs are NOT allowed inside, as it's one of two safe places to eat we found in Mevagissey, if dogs trigger your asthma. My husband is asthmatic, and dogs trigger asthma attacks, which could easily kill him. So we asked, before entering, if dogs were allowed. Despite the reassurance that they weren't, a customer came in to collect their takeaway, with a large dog. So my husband had to leave, on our first visit. We did come back, again lovely food, and good value. And it's bring your own alcohol, so they do concentrate on the food.

Visited for midweek dinner, bumped to 2 stars because of the friendliness of the waitress. The takeaway menu has some non-curry options but nothing on the dine in menu, if you have any non-curry eaters I would not recommend; seemed an inconvenience to do anything and shoe string fries were rock hard and chicken not great. Curry was okay but not great. No alcohol served but not obvious. Quite expensive, nearly £100 for 2 adults and 2 children with mains, couple of starters and drinks.

Great service and friendly staff. Over priced (almost double what I would normally pay in the Midlands). Food was not what we were expecting. Lacked authentic flavours. Plain naan reminded me of an oven-cooked flat garlic bread from Aldi. Chicken Shashlik came with cremated green peppers in some nasty sauce. Tarka daal was nice though. Very disappointing overall. Shame really.

Considering it’s the only Indian restaurant in Mevagissey it’s the best one in Cornwall in our opinion. We’ve had take outs and dined in, the food always tastes perfect and mouthwatering. We highly recommend Mevagissey Spice 5/5

Generous portions, great taste and fast + kind service, but really missed a classic mango lassi and mixed grill was just slightly burned. But still highly recommend!

Great evening out - very tasty meal with gentle music in the background. Food was really good - had a sweet honey chicken masala and tandoori paneer with great conversation. Would recommend if looking for an Indian meal in the area.

Had a very nice meal. Really good. Changed a bit since my last visit as they no longer serve alcohol, but you can take your own (small fee). The owner was explaining that's it's hard to get staff at the moment so he needs to spend more time in the kitchen rather than front of house, hence the decision to stop serving alcohol. Actually I think the food has benefited from that decision as well it really was excellent.

That is the last time we eat from this takeaway. Staff have an attitude on the rude side, asked for a chapati, and was told, it’s not on the menu, so you can’t have one, chicken in one curry was undercooked and pink in the middle, one was like eating treacle, and the other only had four pieces of lamb in it. Take my advice and go to the Chinese around the corner

Have been here before and food had been excellent BUT tonight oh my Food terrible. No taste. No flavour Paid money for bad food. What a shame. Sorry but won’t go back

Oh dear . Waitress was lovely charming and friendly . Took ages to get a shared starter The clay oven paneer bland . The chicken cooked ages ago and tough as old boots . Sorry to say the worst curry I have had in years 🙁
