Moonlight Cafe in Camden

SO RUDE. I walked in and waited at the front for someone to come and take my order. After waiting 5 minutes I realised the girl behind the counter was in the back on her phone the whole time. Then she came to the front and stared at me and I asked so can you take my order she just didn’t respond. Then once I told her what I wanted , another customer came in and she took his order instead of mine. Didn’t write anything down just staring at my blankly. The other customer got his order taken and he paid while I was still standing there waiting. Another man came out from the back and again just completely ignored me whilst I was trying to order again. I’ve never been somewhere where the staff have been just so rude and un helpful. You can’t even take my order ? It doesn’t make any sense. Maybe if you have customers the time of day you wouldn’t have so many shit reviews.

The cheeseburger was fire and the chips were a great portion (sorry i didnt finish them) guy behind counter brought it to my table and was very nice to offer me sauce, the price was pretty reasonable too - if im ever back here i'm trying some more

The food was ok but the athmosphere just awful from the moment I entered.  The attitude of the blond foreigner waitress behind the bar was beyond low level and the grumpiness and bitterness she represented seems to be about life in general was all over the place. The worker wasn't really listening while took the order, at the same time being busy on her phone led her to make a mistake with it which made her even more rude after I dared to mention it. Not even talking about the noise she created whenever was cleaning up a table. Talking out loud and complaining (with no valid reason) about your own customer to an other staff while you can of course hear her is far away from being professional. Some people simply might should consider to change their job asap which is something not customer service related. It is a pity for the place because otherwise would have been good.

Wouldn’t even give them a star, went in weren’t told how the system works, sat down for nearly 10 mins baring in mind the cafe weren’t busy. Young girl worker at the front scrolling through her phone, eventually I got up to ask how the system works, was told to order at the front. Asked for a quarter pounder meal 4/5x straight. Had very little English to the point she didn’t know what I was saying LOL! Zero customer service, why be at the front with an attitude, zero English, and zero confidence! left in the end, from time I got asked what a quarter pounder meal is, I knew my order would have came wrong.

Can't beat the fried bread in chefs special. Love the coffee as well. Best breakfast in town.

I have used this cafe for over 20 years. The fact that it is good is why I have used it for so long. Food is good and it's fairly priced. The place is also spotlessly clean.

Decent breakfast and coffee. Prices fair enough. Good service. Best thing is it is open very early.

Been there last week. As I needed to do a bit of work I asked if they had WiFi and the waitress at the counter said yes. I asked what the password was and the other waitress said there was none. All this in a bit of a rude tone and an attitude that seemed like I was bothering them. I then sat down after ordering and couldn't connect, so I went to the counter again and asked what the network and password were and the blonde waitress, not even looking at me, said 'i don't know' in a rude and authoritative tone. They also forgot to give me my drink so I had to pick it up myself from the fridge. I felt very uncomfortable the whole time and even though I'm a local, I won't be going to Moonlight Cafe again.

UPDATE - owner responds. My original review follows this. The owner has responded to my original review implying that he is unaware of my complaint. Strange. Had he read my review in detail, he would know that he, himself was present and the main instigator and cause of the problem. To now claim ignorance or innocence in an attempt to make him or his cafe seem more customer friendly is, perhaps not such a smart business practice as he may believe. In summary; not admitting a mistake and/or feigning ignorance doesn't give me any confidence that he has any desire to rectify the problems I have suggested. ----- original review---- PRICES VARY - watch out!! I rarely write a bad review but, in this case I must point out that different staff members will charge different prices for the same thing. I have no complaints about quality, cleanliness or taste. All very good. Served in a timely manner and generally friendly, polite people. However......depending on who serves you and, to a certain extent (I believe) mood you can order the same thing (as I have done on 5 previous occasions) and get charged DIFFERENT PRICES. The logic is somewhat convoluted. The owner (I believe) served me today and tried to charge me approx £2.50 more than the advertised prices. The pretty blond woman who usually serves on weekdays tried to explain/argue/differ with him but, he was having none of it. I accept that; being the owner, he is most likely to know the prices best. But, also I think he must, therefore accept responsibility for not informing his staff on how the scheme works. He also desperately needs to adjust his written menu to explain his intentions better. If you want the cheapest price then go at the weekend and get served by the young, dark haired girl. She sees the menu system and prices the same as I (and most customers do). Next is the blond woman who is prone to make mistakes but still cheaper than what the owner thinks. They use a calculator to work out prices and then ring it up on the till. They don't have a properly programmed till to make it easy for staff to always get the prices right. Maybe this is deliberate? Perhaps the boss believes that (most of the time) the "mistakes" are to his favour? But, if items aren't priced and staff aren't trained - then maybe he has been loosing money for a long time. I liked the food and the place. But, I can't stand the feeling of being cheated. Either by mistake or by design. I will go to a different cafe - such as Mems - further away and a bit more expensive but where I KNOW that the prices are consistent. By the way - no apology from the owner. No offer of halfway. When the blond lady made a mistake a couple of weeks ago - she offered me an orange juice on the house. (Which I thanked her for and declined due to my diabetes) I know I am only one customer who probably spends less than £50 a week. But, the smart business man would make an effort to retain customers not just present a fait accompli of "you are wrong. The past doesn't matter. Bye bye".

Nice ace to eat, can mix and mash the menu to suit yourself. Staff changes quite often, which is a pain when you get to know them.

I believe my first review was deleted….. I will keep writing them cause there service was appealing. You will be welcomed by 2 very rude women who make you feel uncomfortable for just ordering. And don’t you worry you will be told 20 times that you can’t change anything on the set breakfast menu. You will also have your feet mopped mid eating and they will even clean ur shoes. You will be left freezing cause they will leave the door open to dry the floor. Everything I asked they looked down on me and gave disgusting looks. They was talking about me and my friend in there own language. However, my friend understood everything they was saying. They didn’t know how much things were in their own cafe and the list goes on sad women really. Owner was lovely and made us feel comfortable as we have been coming here for a while if u wanna be cussed out go to the moonlight cafe. Try serving with a smile ladies! :)

Yummy vegetarian fry up, one of best I had for a while! (their vegi sosig is amazing!), tasty coffee, nice vibe. We'll be back :-)

A pretty average cafe really. Not terrible but not fantastic either. You can get a fairly good breakfast here for under a tenner.

Food fresh, guy charge me over the top, may be cause I was black I played the black price. Said he would give me extra sausage due to me not wanting tomatoes and tea but thought me right cause I have these things at home and should do my own. I wouldn't go there again and found them speaking about me in there language and laughing too but it's fine as God Always stay awake, when people spend their money with you, you should never made fun of them or cheat them, no blessings you will receive for this.

The restaurant is dirty, the vegetables are not washed, the Bacon is not fresh and the staff does not wear gloves when they touch the food.

Great little diner in Tufnell Park. Has mainly a breakfast and sandwich menu but also burgers. Plenty of seating. Very reasonable for London. I like to take my kids there.

Great food, odd clientele. One man repeatedly adjusted his trousers in front of me and blocked the waitress with plates for a short time. Of course not the cafe's fault at all but noteworthy nonetheless.

Salir a reunirse con amigos necesitaba repostar antes de un gran día en el West End. He estado en docenas de veces pero no había visitado en años. El mismo pequeño dueño turco creo. Impecablemente limpio. Té de los constructores servido en segundos. Huevos revueltos, morcilla, papas fritas, frijoles, tocino y tostadas, todos alimentos de calidad. Este café es genial honestamente.

Stopped by for a cheeky fry up first thing on a Sunday morning. Friendly staff, piping hot food and a good portion for the price.

Had an amazing dinner and we really enjoyed the food and the service. Definitely be back for more.

It's great having a café that one knows the food and the service will be consistently good every time one come in, and this is one of those cafés. Great price for what you get, food comes out quickly too, that chefs on the ball same as those service girls.

Excellent service and excellent brekkie/lunch place.

I have never been to Tufnell Park before and was looking for a cheap lunch and this place looked good. From the outside it looked clean and welcoming with an extensive menu of hot food including omelettes, jacket potatoes, breakfasts, roast dinners, pasta, sandwiches.....I settled for a jacket potato with cheese at £3.80 which was a nice quality and size with a reasonable amount of cheese and served with a simple but fresh side salad. Tea was £1. The waitress was friendly. This is certainly on my (extensive) list of excellent value cheap eat cafes.

Had a proper honest old fashioned full English fry up here at half past three one afternoon. The grub was fine and the tea was strong! Perfect. Cheap too.

Bacon & egg sandwich: ok. Bacon juicy but too much fat. Bread looks 'crusty' but crusts soft. Otherwise was nice.
