Moon & Starfish in Tendring

The food took ages to come. The place is packed all the time and can never get a seat. Finally got a table outside and was surrounded by sea gulls the hole time. The sea gulls stole food from our plates twice! So definitely do not eat outside. Again, the food took ages , 3 of us went for dinner they delivered 2 meals together and only got the 3rd meal about 25 minutes later. The wait was not worth it. The food was clearly rushed and not good tasting either.

We went in for a lunch on a cold day. Jacket potato cold sent back. Still inedible when reheated. Fish & Chips looked ok & my hubby ate most of it. Carpet & tables not very clean

Called in for a few pints after visiting the pier. Good location and has a decent outside area at the front where you can sit in the sun and watch the world go by. Only downside was service was quite slow at the bar.

Burger wasn’t freshly cooked, poor quality, dry bread. Wings were OK.. The lager Poretti was fine, I wouldn’t recommend this place for food. The app worked well, easy to use.

Very Disappointing…. Family visit with all food ordered seem to have shrunk. No notice of portion reduction in menu observed either Sharwami wrap I ordered lacked filled and more like cheap weight loss dish. Our children portions were larger than adult portions. Eating there again … No

Had freedom breakfast very nice but ordered toast and marmalade at same time it came after I eaten the breakfast first lot was not even toasted had to send back second lot was lovely will one coming back I will have to think about it

Absolutely freezing cold in here, everyone sitting in their coats. Not very welcoming. The staff were nice and the food was good but only stayed until we had eaten because we had to go and warm up. Very disappointing

Not the best that the Wetherspoon chain has to offer, I find it rather crowded with tables and not well laid out. Usually very busy during the summer but not too bad out of the season. Can be a bit hot and miss with the quality and portions where food is concerned but overall not too bad.

Always enjoy going here. It might need a bit of TLC but not to important. Good value for money is what it's all about. Real ales are my main reason for visiting. Enjoy the food and and the atmosphere. Nicely situated on the front overlooking the pier.

It is good service but when I received my drink, it was Pepsi max cherri instead of normal Pepsi so I'm really not happy 😔😡

We don't live locally and decided to go in for a breakfast. It was the best breakfast I have had in years. Someone came over and asked if we had all we needed and was all ok after 10 mins or so. The meal was hot, tasty and well cooked. Thank you all at the Moon and Stars. Would thoroughly recommend.

Ordered a dish with rice. Was very disappointed that it was packet rice done in the microwave and not decent rice. Won't be ordering rice again.

All these whether spoons seem the same it really is pot luck some days I've not really liked how foods been cooked

Very popular place was packed. Food ordered by app. Delivered quickly, staff friendly and helpful. As with all Wetherspoons (I've been to) excellent value for money.

Good food, served quickly even though they were busy.

This wetherspoon gets a bad rap from alot of people, probably people who have never drank in there, the beer is always in good condition, the staff are very professional and deal with issues quickly, there was an older couple in the night we where who where very loud and abusive but the duty manager was straight in to sort them out, we had a really good night out and would return any time.

Really busy but good service, excellent value for the money. Cheap but delicious cask ale just £2.63 per pint (Ruddles less than £2) Even though very busy the staff were on top of their game and kept the waiting time to a minimum. We had the Boneless Chicken Basket and the Ham Egg & Chips both were reasonably priced and delicious.

Perfectly located opposite the pier. Clean and spacious with fast and friendly service. Food arrived quickly and was hot and tasty. No complaints at all. Highly recommend.

Nice day for sitting in the sun with friends

This is my first review but I come to this Wetherspoons probably about twice a month. It's really good for an inexpensive meal and the drink is included in the price. It's just across the road from the pier so is very central. The service is quite speedy too and we've never had to wait long. One of the main reasons we come here is that Wetherspoons doesn't allow pet dogs in. Thank you, Wetherspoons, for appreciating that not everyone wants dogs around them when they're having a meal.

Staff always attentive and do a fantastic service to customers. Meals are always good and worth the money. We are so lucky to have this in clacton-on-sea.

Great pub, food good especially breakfast. Visit every time we stay in Clacton.

Offers Good down to earth small portions of food. Big selection and offers on certain days, can include the price of a drink. The service was quick. Order at the bar and delivered to your table. Staff members polite and friendly. Family atmosphere and it all felt really relaxed and people were enjoying themselves.

Cold food .warm coffee .totally rubbish .was told water temperature on coffee machines had bin turned down because some idiot burnt their hand putting it under the water.probabky looking to get a free wash put this together with it's full of piss heads taking up tables ,one to a table from 8.30am every day ...total dump no wonder it's worst in essex should be relocated to J sick as quick as ....and dress code highered from smelly dirty scum level to washed once a week

Dinner was not very warm, chips tasted like they had been heated up not fresh cooked. All food under my table from previous diner, will be a long time b4 I eat here again

We visited today for lunch although we waited for 45 minutes as it was very busy which is a very good thing , the service was excellent the waitress apologised for the delay , both of our meals were hot and of excellent quality 😀 we would definitely return here Highly recommended 😀

Called in just for a drink and sat outside, the place was busy at 4 PM. Excellent value for the drinks a medium wine and a non alcoholicThatchers cost £5.03. I paid £5 in another pub just for the Thatchers!!

The staff were very polite and helpful. The whole pub was spotless. The food was good and they certainly know how to pull a pint.

We visited on the day of the airshow so it was extremely busy. Managed to get a seat, and ordered our food on the app. Service and food was great, considering how busy it was. Lovely atmosphere

Visited twice now and both times at least one member of my party was disappointed with the food. Seems a nice enough place but depending on what you order it can be a bit hit a miss. What confused me the most yesterday was me and another party member both ordered the same main the BBQ burger mine came with four onion rings his only had one small one. They also don't like using much custard on the desserts.

Had cctv in the toilets, which is very concerning. Drinks were reasonable. they don't allow dogs even outside, and there no sign stating that. Looks nice outside.

Staff are very rude and are unprofessional. The staff seem to struggle with manners and can not communicate well with customers. Personally I think the staff in this place need to be replaced with people who are experienced, who come across friendly and inviting, and most importantly who enjoy doing their job. This place could be so much better if the staff members made it feel welcoming. A friendly smile and a welcoming service goes a long way. Also clean toilets that don’t smell like something has died in there would be nice too.

was having a great time with the family and kids until i came into here and watched the server with black and red hair spike someone's drink. wont be returning again, the food wasnt even nice, everyone seemed moody and very rude.

Another good witherspoons pub. Good everyday food at a very reasonable price, with excellent service. What more do you need, a good drink? They have that, too.

As Wetherspoons go, this was a good one. It was busy, as expected, but the staff were good and there wasn't a long wait for food, nor at the bar. A nice atmosphere.

Clearly staff and management didn't care about customers concerns regarding lack of soda in the coke or no milk at the hot drinks machine and didn't rectify and treated these issues with contempt and made you feel uncomfortable

Way too much noise and crowds. We left quickly.

Food was OK however took a long time to come out, appreciate it was a busy day but our friend's ordered the same time and we waited an additional 30 minutes. In the end one the the managers went to sort it and brought the food over it was boiling the bbq sauce like lava and the top of the burger quite stale - can only imagine it had been sitting under the hot plate for a long time. The place itself feels quite crammed in, and everything needs a good clean - toilets were awful absolutely disgusting (which is my main reason for a low score)

Good food and value for money, helpful and friendly service with a nice outdoor seating area/ The location is ideal also, just opposite the pier.
