From quiches to Homemade cakes and real chewy meringues. The restaurant is relaxed and spacious, where you can relax and absorb the Views of Lower Largo and Ellie.

Hidden Gem. We popped in for lunch whilst stopping in the Adults only caravan park. We had our dog Ripley with us and we sat outside in the dog friendly dining huts. Whilst tucking into our gorgeous homemade quiche we looked over the beautiful scenery. The menu is full of yummy delicious options and the service from the friendly staff added to the lovely experience. Thank you

Absolutely the best location for our Diamond Wedding, the table placement and preparation was superb, the food was five star, especially the braised beef in red wine sauce, about which the guests commented on the tenderness of the beef, seventeen out of thirty four selected this as their main course. The service, the overall presentation of the food and the dispensing of the wines were as it should be on an occasion such as this with no glass remaining empty for long. Duncan, Linda and the staff did us proud and everyone was made to feel a great family atmosphere, as for Amanda, who prepared the food and its presentation thank you for making the day a memorable one for all the guests.

We entertained our friends and young son with afternoon tea, the service to one of the outside cabins was superb considering the main restaurant is some 100m away, the selection of food in the form of sandwiches, tartlets, sausage rolls, scones, mini pavlovas, Scottish tablet, strawberries In chocolate ( the child was most impressed ) and other home baked treats ( everything was home baked) was much appreciated, our friends left with the residue of the food to eat on route back to Germany the next day. Our friends were delighted that their son was presented with his own plate of food including fruit as a separate dish.

Driving into Monturpie guest house, there is that moment you wonder if you might be better driving out of it. The terrain from the entrance to your accommodation appears to be "work in progress" and is utilised by caravan tourers. Don't let that put you off. Oh, no, once you get to Monturpie guest house proper, you begin to realise why it gathers so many five-star reviews. The place is stunning. Views from the huge terrace down to the sparkling waters of Largo Bay and Leven are picture postcard. Great start then and that feeling of serendipity was to continue. Our twin-bedded apartment upstairs was all that we might wish - and more. Whoever had been charged with its furnishing was on the ball, displaying a modern touch that matched our own. Those Largo Bay views were to be had here, too, so you did not feel you were missing out. The bathroom was bright and modern and appeared newly fitted. No bath, instead a shower cabinet, and that suited us just fine. We were guests at Monturpie for two nights and wished we had booked for more. Breakfast was a delight and served in the ground-floor dining room with "those views". Spectacular. To me, a proper Scottish breakfast can be the meal of the day and Monturpie did not let me down. Compliments to chef Linda. She knows her stuff! Almost forgot, if you do not want to use your car on any day, you can make use of the local bus services that stop "on request" outside the farm's boundaries. Very handy for trips to the likes of St Andrews or even Dundee. Monturpie is a credit to Upper Largo and to its Scottish owners, Duncan and Linda Law. My wife and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Menu was limited but covered a good range of options. Soups were first class. Minestrone particularly tasty. Can I suggest you maybe wish to share the outstanding desserts. We opted to sit in one of the summer houses but you could have opted to sit inside the restaurant or outside. Everywhere very clean including the toilets. Views from Monturpie are superb. When it was suggested we stay in the b&b next to the caravan site our expectations weren’t high - so it was wonderful to have them blown away!Rooms would compete with hotels charging way way more and the views across the Firth of Forth from either the restaurant or the comfy chairs on the decking outside just round It off, wish we were staying longer and we’ll be back .We booked a double and a twin room - our double was actually a triple, spacious light and spotlessly clean with a carpet you just want to kick your shoes off and bury your toes in!

Sitting in Monturpie admiring the view over the Firth having enjoyed the best food we have had since moving to Fife last year. It's quite deceptive when your driving towards Leven and pass a small offroad site where some touring caravans are sited, to find a hidden gem like this. We were looking for a nice Sunday lunch, which we have found difficult to find in Fife. We were not dissapointed. The menu was simple home cooked food with enough choice for eveyone. We both opted for topside of beef which was tremendous. The beef just fell apart on the fork and tasted lovely. The potatoes and veg were fresh and well cooked and the gravy, although thinner than we like had the required flavour. My wife then followed off with the homemade fruit pavlova which was so big she couldn't finish it.The restaurant was fairly busy when we arrived on spec. but we were still acomodated without any problems. I would recommend booking especially on a Friday. For information they do a high tea on a Sunday, an afternoon tea on weekdays and also have a childrens menu.Overall, highly recommended.

We’ve been taking some ‘oldies’ to Monturpie for a few years now but to be honest we’d love to sneak off and get a table for two one day. Sure, the clientele is probably the other side of 50 but with age comes experience and we’re experienced enough to know that the owners know exactly how to keep their customers happy. So, if you love Scampi, perfect roast beef, quiche of the day and traditional puddings with lashings of custard or ice cream served in a bright room with cracking views over the Forth then just turn up the Road to St Andrews from Upper Largo and look for the Monturpie sign.

Would never had known about this family run restaurant if we hadn’t been invited there by good friends. The views are spectacular over the Firth of Forth, from the Bridges down to North Berwick. The dishes served were of excellent quality, taste and amount. A nicely varied menu with some blackboard specials and sweets to die for. We’ll certainly be back before long. Best to book at weekends. This restaurant also supports a Bed and Breakfast establishment and touring caravan site. It’s a no brainer as to where you’d have your main meal. My only slight gripe...the heating should’ve been turned off the day we were there, or opening one or two windows to keep the air moving.

I had read so many good things about this place, but unfortunately I was utterly disappointed. The place smells like a nursing home, the staff lack basic training (we had to keep asking for things that should be simple -eg cutlery). The prices were not cheap. Although the food was really tasty. It was also fresh. I wouldn't go back. Lots of older people there who seem to enjoy it. We probably wouldn't return. Could be so much better (for instance the condensation and stained window that is really a massive selling point for view - replace glass!!), train staff better and have clearer pricing. Food is tasty so had no complaints there.

It was a clear sunny day which gave stunning views across the Forth. Good windows seats. The menu choice is ok if erring on the basic side. Food was good quality and generous servings. Would have liked roast potatoes with the beef but rest was very good. The puddings were all good and home made.Service was very good. Would also say good value.Overall impression was very good if a bit dull on the menu front. It was fairly busy and I think they know their target market and cater well for them.

we went along for a Sunday high tea and were not disappointed. They gave us a table in the conservatory which had amazing views out over the forth. The food is all cooked fresh, the portion sizes are large, you will not be disappointed.

We went there for my friends 60th birthday the owner provided balloons and special shortbread as part of our meal. A good selection of homemade starters, main courses and sweets all over looking the forth bay. Certainly a gem.

We decided to have my birthday meal at this restaurant as we were in the area. The staff were very accommodating and made sure that guests were attended to promptly. The menu is extensive and they also have specials of 2 and 3 course if you prefer a full dinner. We opted for a main course but I did have a starter. I paid extra on the 2 course special for a rump steak and it was well worth the extra, it came just as I asked. My wife had a fresh crab salad and said it was one of the best she had tasted. The restaurant was very busy and it is recommended that you book a table to avoid disappointment. We will certainly be going back when we are in the area again.

We have been dropping in here for lunches on and of over the last seven years and we were in again today for tea and cake. It is sat on the hill outside Lundin links and so has a good view of the Bays in that area and there is a set (just the one) of binoculars in one room on the window ledge that you can have a quick look around the scenery with. Food is good with some really good items and the staff are very pleasant. Can be noisy if sat in the conservatory and there is a crowd in there as noise bounces off the walls.. It is a bit pricier than 'normal' cafes. However it is almost all home cooked and prepared so that makes up for it. There is a large car park and you can get into it from either the St. Andrews Road or the Elie road, Worth a visit to see what you think. It does serve a limited range of alchohol. They are expanding their opening times but I suggest you ring first and just check what time and days they are open as they closed at 2.pm today (Friday) and I think all day Monday whereas they were open longer hours some time ago.

A wonderful find. The standard of the Restaurant is excellent in all respects i.e. Warm Welcome, Cleanliness, Excellent Serving Staff and Fabulous quality of food. The afternoon sunshine just added to the experience and the view from the outside terrace is just amazing as it overlooks the River Forth in all it's glory. An accommodation block is being completed onsite and this would be a terrific base for any tourists wishing to explore the East Neuk and the surrounding areas. Can highly recommend.

The food was wonderful, no complaints, service was friendly and prompt, could not fault anything. No problem parking the bus, right to the door, perfect for some of the elderly we had with us.

The restaurant has an imposing view but sadly the lunch time menu is very average and a bit on the pricey side. The service staff are friendly and we did enjoy the homemade quiche.

A bit of the beaten track but worth it. If this café was in the city centre, it would be packed out every day! We enjoyed lovely, freshly made sandwiches in a cosy atmosphere and took some delicious cakes home. I hadn’t been for a while but it’s every bit as nice as I remember, we’ll definitely be back.

We didn't stay but went for lunch one Sunday. We booked but several groups turned up without booking and were able to get a table. The menu is the usual pub grub but nicely presented and service was quick. Ae chose the roast beef, meatball and curry with icecream and coffee to follow. All very tasty The welcome and service were frienly and efficient and the dining room light airy and spacious.

What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.
