This is an upmarket restaurant in a delightful estate (Duchally) ten minutes south-east of the Gleneagles resort. Just off the A823. The dining room is principally divided into two sections - two lovely rooms, boldly decorated. The food is excellent, well presented, innovative and tasty. Top marks. It isn’t cheap but……we managed just over the ton for two. Though only two glasses of wine and a single, shared starter and dessert. 12.5% service added. Try it I am pretty sure you will relish the experience. I will just also mention the young, very obliging table staff. Thanks to you all.

Tucked away in the Duchally Wyndham Resort Auchterarder is this great restaurant called Monteaths. Everyone talks about Gleneagles Resort but I had never heard of this place before. You can eat here even if you’re not staying at the hotel or lodges but you have to book a table. Food is SOOOOOOO GOOOD you really must try and decide for yourselves. The prices are very competitive. We really were delighted with the Food and the Service we received. Keep up the Greatness guys at Monteaths.

My wife and I visited this restaurant recently for dinner. Overall, it was a decent enough meal, but things could certainly improve, and it was a little pricey for what we got. Our starters were tasty enough but I was a little disappointed with my prawn cocktail. The portion was quite small compared to most other places I've ordered this. My dish consisted of prawns, sauce and a few lettuce leaves, nothing more. My wife had lamb with dauphinoise potatoes. Whilst she said everything was very tasty, the portion of potatoes was simply tiny. It really needed to be twice as much as what was on her plate. We ordered a bottle of wine which I believe was about £31. When the waiter poured some for my wife to taste, it had to be taken away as it was very unpleasant. We then had to order a more expensive wine, which was better than the first, but still wasn't great. At least we weren't charged for the first bottle we ordered, but then why should we have been when we didn't/couldn't drink it. The only reasonable value on the night was the dessert. Again, it was a little pricey compared to most other restaurants at the same level, but at least it was very pleasurable to eat. We have eaten at Monteith's several time before, and had much better experiences than this last visit. Whilst the food is decent enough quality, the portion sizes really do need to be improved in order to justify the prices charged. Overall, Montheaths has room for improvement.

Being that the restaurant here is closed both on a Monday & Tuesday night I opted to try their takeaway menu. The Thai green curry seemed to sound like a tasty treat so I opted for that. The curry itself wasn’t too bad, plenty of chicken & peppers, a nice fragrance coming off it was quite tasty, but the accompanying rice was a complete let down. A small measly portion of overcooked clumpy (not sticky) rice that was hard & tasteless - It looked like it was scraped from the bottom of the pan. Admittedly as I was so hungry due to not eating all day I scoffed the lot so couldn’t really ask them to re-cook it. On the upside the rest of my family shared a takeaway pizza from the health spa, they thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had both dinner and breakfast in Monteaths. Our dinner was superb! Beautifully presented and perfectly balanced flavours. A small menu but actually there’s something for every taste. We stayed here just at the start of the alcohol ban but the lovely bar staff had been very inventive by concocting some fabulous mocktails! All of the staff that we met, during our stay, were just lovely, so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious as well, lots to choose from and cooked to perfection. All in all a super stay.

Visited this restaurant during my weekend stay in the area and couldn't have been happier with the experience on this occasion. The staff were all really friendly and happy to advise on options on the menu, which was great value for money. My wife opted for the steak as her main and it was cooked to perfection the way she had ordered it. I ordered the mouth watering fish and that too was cooked the way I like it. I usually order a sweet, when on holiday, but was too full after my starter and main so decided to skip it on this occasion. Overall, I found the prices to be good value for money and the food quality to comparable with more expensive restaurants in the area. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are holidaying in the area.

Just back from our second visit to the Duchally Estate. This time we had both Afternoon Tea and an evening meal in the restaurant. Afternoon Tea was fantastic we chose the option with a Gin & Tonic which was lovely. We received a great mix of sandwiches, scones and cakes all tasting delicious. We ordered some snacks off the menu for our kids as well. Our evening meal was also great. We all (2 adults, 3 children) had three courses with various drinks and the bill was very reasonable. Menu has something for everyone and kids menu also has a varied choice. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and all staff are very attentive.

Went here twice for dinner, once breakfast while staying at Duchally Estates cottage (which were *excellent*). Our son was allowed to eat free, always a plus. The breakfast buffet was a mix of standard fare and some Scottish specialties like black pudding. Perfectly acceptable fort he price, nothing remarkable. Dinner was not cheap but reasonable for what we saw elsewhere. They have a kids menu with good option (again, kids ate free). I actually preferred their pasta-based vegetarian diner entrée over the meat dishes my wife got. Save room for the sticky toffee pudding, second best we had in Scotland and a sizeable portion. I preferred this diner to Andrew Fairlie's, comparing the ratio of meal price to meal enjoyment. :D

The menu was limited but the options sounded delicious I had monkfish with sautéed potatoes, potatoes and veg undercooked. Then I had pork belly and mash, the jus was lovely but the pork had a thick layer of fat on top not the crispy crackling expected very off puttting and disappointing. My husband had the chicken terrine which he said was ok, then a burger and chips which he said was nice with onion rings kitchen couldn’t manage to get burger, chips and onion rings ready at same time though so he had almost finished meal by time they arrived. Both had sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was lovely and we would order again. All staff were very pleasant and helpful no faults with service. Restaurant itself very clean and nice. Not many people in when we went. I wouldn’t go back here lots of other restaurants in the area with more choice and better execution.

I booked a table at Monteaths to meet friends for an ‘early’ Xmas lunch on Sunday 2 December. We were not residents and had been in the premises before. When we arrived we were offered the option of a table in the actual restaurant or the bar area where a fire was on and another family were eating lunch. We opted for the bar area. The waitress who meet us was very friendly. However from there on in the experience went down hill. The service was poor after 2 hours we still had not ordered a dessert or coffee etc despite asking to do so. In that period the bar area became busy and the barman decided to put the TV on which was virtually next to us. In fairness the volume was was switched ‘off’ however suffice to say that changed after our ‘2 hour’ experience and that was really the final straw. The quality of the food was also poor and after complaining about the TV we were offered a table in the actual restaurant- well what a surprise the place was totally empty - what great festive cheer. We decided enough was enough and left.

Family of five adults had a meal on a Saturday evening. We were presented with two menus, a set menu & a la carte. We all decided to eat from the a la carte but when presented with the bill we discovered that some of the meals were available from the set menu and as such our bill was less expensive. This was done without us mentioning it which we were delighted with. The food was lovely and our waitress was so nice and made sure we had everything we needed without being obtrusive. It was a warm evening and we were next to an open window which we were pleased about as sometimes it can be uncomfortable in restaurants in warm weather. The menu was fairly extensive, as was the wine list. I would thoroughly recommend dining here.

We stayed at Duchally and had lunch and dinner here. They try to present food that is a tad bit more uppity than standard pub food, and succeed mostly. Stayed at the Duchally and ate in the restaurant -Food was ok but we had the sirloin and venison and although we asked for medium came well done. Ordered a bottle of wine and it just got plonked on the table. Not quite what we expected having read the other reviews on here :-(

My partner and I visited The Monteith last week for dinner and I must say it was a very good solid meal. The staff were accommodating enough the only real downside was that the restaurant was very cold whereas the bar area was lovely and warm!! The food is reasonably priced with 2 main meals and 2 drinks in the region of £50 which would appear quite steep but I don't think anyone who has eaten here could argue that the locally sourced food deserves it.

It's either the other restaurants in Auchterarder are all branches of 'The Ritz' or this restaurant is not being accorded its due commendation! Very friendly and attentive staff. We were there at high season and it was still not overcrowded. The food was brilliant! had my first taste of Hagis and now I'm a believer! There's also some (albeit meagre) entertainment at the bar on some days. The decor is minimalistic which is coincidentally what I prefer......The food is very affordable! I couldn't ask for more.If you happen to stumble unto this part of the world, visit them pls!

We ate here on one of the three nights during our stay at Duchally Country Estate. The menu provided a good variation of choices with helpful alternatives for those with gluten free requirements. The wine list was extensive and bottles were reasonably priced. The menu had the feel of a posh hotel but the prices were not that expensive. The restaurant is better than the bar for eating.

Plutôt cher et cuisine plus que moyenne. Personnel peu aimable. Passez votre chemin, il y a des endroits plus sympatiques dans les environs.

Our table was booked for 1 p.m. Sunday and we arrived around 15 minutes early. We were directed to the bar. We were given menus and ordered our food and drinks. Thinking we were going to the restaurant we passed on the way to the bar. I had booked in advance. I enquired if we were going to the restaurant and I was told it wasn't open at lunch time! The waitress wasn't that friendly! We watched as others arrived and got the same treatment. However one couple said that they wanted to eat in the restaurant and another member of staff made a bit of fuss saying that the table would take time to arrange. By this time our starter had arrived and we decided to stay put. The food was very good, nicely presented and tasty. The ambience of the bar wasn't so good. If I'd wanted a bar meal I would have gone to a pub. Whilst we were there there was a party - looked like someone's birthday - they were beside us in the bar. When we left and passed the restaurant.....hey! there were people dining there and another large table was set up for the birthday party. There were other tables available, so I don't understand why they were unwilling to set tables up in the restaurant. That was a spoiler for me so I won't be returning.

There was a varied choice of menu. We enjoyed the food and the service was good. We actually ate in the lounge as our booking was for 5.30 pm and the restaurant doesn't open till 6 pm but we still had the a la carte menu.

Cant understand why this is not higher up on the scores as this restaurant is superb. We both had the crab cakes with lime and salsa dressing. To die for!My husband had the pork. It had a herb crust that was soo nice. It also came with an apple crumble that was such a treat to go with pork. I had a taste and wished I had chosen this. I had ordered a home made burger, really tasty.I couldnt manage a sweet but hubby had the eton mess, I thought he was going to lick the bowl he liked it that much!!Good wine to accompy great food. staff friendly and attentive. What a great meal.Give it a try, you wont regret it

A very nice old country house restaurant. Quite well furnished with natural woods and nice decor. Staff were ver attentive and chatty with out being familiar. Prices were excellent for the standard and quality of the food. It was well presented and cook ed exactly as one ordered it. Ask for a window table for pleasant views. Nice bar area for drinks before and coffee afterwards.

Booked the meal as part of a stay at the lodges. As we were a large group we were given a private dining room which made our meal even more special. As we were a large group we had been asked to pick a set menu and submit the menu choices in advance so in the day the food just appearedEach course was fantastic with plates all clearedI had the terrine with come with a chutney on the sideMy next course was the pork with apple and black pudding. The sauce that accompanied this was out of this worldThen to finish it was chocolate torte so lovely but very rich. Everyone else's dinner was also fab. I don't think there was a morsel left on any of the platesAt £30 a head the standard of food made this really good value for money This is the second time I've eaten here and this was better than last time but both times were outstanding really 5 star foodI can't wait to come back for dinner, be it with my partner or a groupDefiantly worth the trip for lunch/Dinner

Crab cakes were underwhelming to start. They weren't crispy on the outside as a good crab cake should be. My sausage of the day main was okay though the amount of mashed potato provided was inadequate. The whole meal was under-salted. The staff appeared to be friendly to their more obviously Scottish clientele but less so towards me (Scottish but you can't tell from my accent) and my wife (Canadian).

We visited Duchally Country Estate on a snowy Tuesday on March to use an ITISON voucher. We were directed to the bar by reception and told to wait to be seated. We stood for quite some time until we were shown to our seat. Our voucher entitled us to a two course meal - which we both enjoyed. The crab cakes as a starter were tasty. The country estate sounds much grander than it is in reality. Nice enough if you are passing but not sure I'd go out of my way again.

Wow what a find, through all my years of travelling from glasgow to aberdeen I didnt know this place existed until i came onto trip adviser to look for a restaurant for my birthday lunch with my family, I had family travelling from glasgow and we ourselves were travelling down from Aberdeen. The location of this country house is AMAZING! the staff are brilliant, really make you feel welcome and were very attentive throughout out visit. We had the full three course menu and coffee afterwards, I personally couldnt fault any of it, everything was cooked to our liking and there were no emply plates! The only one thing I will say that I didnt quite like was how far the actual bar was to our table as we had people sitting a bit too close behind us at the bar, i think the table layout could have been done better within the room. We had a great lunch and i thought the food was excellent for the price. I definitely go back and this time for an overnight stay as the setting of this country house is just so peacefull, i would highly recommend this as a great place for a lunch, as i will definitely be going back again soon

I don't tell many people but the restaurant at Duchally is always a winner, whether we go for a special dinner, or take friends for lunch which we did recently. We've never had an 'average' meal there - it's always been excellent food, perfectly cooked, and good service...why go anywhere else? It's tucked down a country lane, only a mile from the famous Gleneagles Hotel so many would pass it by....but we know better!

I have passed this estate many times and have never had a reason to visit until I bought the groupon deal.It really is a hidden gem and is far bigger then expected. The resturant was clean and well laid out. It was not cramped or over crowded even thought there are quite a few tables. The food was lovely and even my Dad who is a pretty fussy eater enjoyed his meal. The grouopon voucher was great value for money but in fairness had i not had this I think my review could have been quite different. The food was nice and well presented but I feel it was expensive for what you actually got. On the whole a pleasent day out.

Terrific informative baking class. Iain taught us how to make oatcakes and Selkirk bannocks and the ability to ask questions and get insight into the process was priceless. A great experience.

Really disappointed with our visit. I had friends visiting from out of town and had really hyped this up as I am a regular and usually love it. I booked a table for 4 and my friend brought her baby with her, the table we were given did not have space for a pram - this was ok my friend was going to move the pram, it did not need to be at the table as she was planning to take him out to feed. However, the waitress offered to move us to a bigger space which I initially thought was really nice and accommodating until she made two unnecessary rude comments including ‘there is no way a pram is fitting in there, I wish people would include kids on their booking’ and ‘you would be amazed how many people forget about their kids’. This was completely rude and unnecessary. It was an honest change of plan which was easily sorted and if she had thought to have a conversation with us, we would have come up with a solution. But to offer a solution (which was very appreciated) and follow it up with snide comments was unfair. The food was great as always, unfortunately I will not be able to return with these friends. It’s hard enough as a new mum to navigate outings, let alone with this attitude.

Watched the 50th Anniversary of Tubular Bells and the show was fantastic. The venue itself was pretty good, the acoustics excellent and the chairs comfortable enough. A very good hall for concerts and shows.
