Montaz Indian & Bangladeshi Cuisine in Huntingdonshire

We went on a Tuesday for their starter,main and rice/naan for £17 deal. Good food and very attentive waiters despite the place being full (clearly the deal attracts custom). The atmosphere was friendly, with a bit of a buzz but not too noisy. Recommended.

Thank you to Montaz. Over the last few weeks life has been busy and unpredictable. Whether ordering early or late, delivery has been prompt and the food tasty. Thank you because I messed up an order for pick up instead of delivery which the staff kindly sorted. There are a number of pop up new street restaurants which is great for St Ives. Good to see Montaz has thought about this and has included a "street" menu. too. Thank you to all.

Work colleagues and I went for a group meal. We went on a Tuesday, they have a deal on Tuesday nights. Have to say, the staff were lovely. Even with a busy resteraunt the service was great. The food was delicious and the value for money just fantastic. I have since ordered takeaway from here and it is just delicious. Highly recommend, I am looking forward to going again. I love this place. I come here regularly for the food, the atmosphere and the service. I’ve eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants and none of them are as consistently good Montaz. I’ve never had a bad meal here, they’re all always delicious. The staff are warm and welcoming and make it a pleasure to be there.

Had my son's 5th meal here last night and it was fantastic. Food was amazing, the male servers/owners were amazing, he even played a happy birthday song on the speakers for my son, he let us bring a cake in and eat it, and gave my son a free apple juice. Only 4 stars for service because unfortunately the females weren't as warm and welcoming as the men, and were quite rude. Thank you for a lovely evening!!

Very pleasantly surprised by Montaz, the place was buzzing on arrival and busy always a good sign. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Menu is good and plenty to choose from. The food was absolutely 1st class, piping hot, full of flavour and good portion sizes, and served at the same time for a table of 5, which was impressive. Will definitely be returning

I have eaten at Montaz many times, usually 3-4 times per year. However, on my last two visits, most recently November 2023, I have noticed a decline in the quality of food. There also never seems to be more than 1 or 2 other tables with guests. Something that has never bothered me in the past, but I am now wondering if this is a reflection of the drop in quality of the food? To be clear, the staff are always very nice, the food is not bad, its just not great. I cook curry's every week, I love very spicy food. But I also love tasty food, I made a Tandoori Chicken this weekend and marinated it for 24 hours, so I take Indian cuisine very seriously. On my last 2 visits I got the distinct feeling that the meat is processed, not fresh, the pieces are all exactly the same size. It tastes quite bland as if a sauce is just added to it rather than being slowly cooked in herbs and spices. The portions are also getting smaller, only 4-5 pieces of meat. To be fair, the portion trend is happening in most restaurants now, its nothing new. But when the food is only so so, then there's not much point in dining there. I'm going to give Montaz one more try, I have had some great food in the past.

Had a lovely tasty takeaway from Montaz. There was plenty of chicken in the dish and the portion was generous. Although we had a takeaway the new decor in the restaurant looks good.

Lovely food and great atmosphere. The restaurant is well lit and cosy. I had chicken pakoras and chicken Jalfrezi for main with pilau rice and chips my favourite combination. The price was good value for money.

Very cosy atmosphere, we had the prawn puri and garlic mushroom puri starter. For mains we had the chicken naga and tandoori king prawn which was the right level of spice for our palette.

Food is absolutely amazing!!!! Service is great and tables always clean!!! Great atmosphere!!! Definitely recommend to go there every Friday!!!

Ate here early evening on New Year's Eve as a last minute arrangement with our daughter and friend. Food selection was excellent with lots of choice - and interesting vegetarian options too. Service was attentive - food took a bit of time to arrive but the restaurant was very busy so can be excused. Will certainly go again soon and would recommend

Had take away delivered tonight . Have used Montaz several times in the past and has always been good, tonight was a disappointment. My wife had chicken tikka biryani - this has always come with a lovely vegetable curry, tonight it did not just a very runny sauce. Not good. My lamb tikka bhuna was not up to usual standard. Lamb very grisly. Hopefully this was just a one off. Need to try harder.

Normally we've found it very good, but due to a large rowdy party coming in it was spoilt by noise and bad language we couldn't hear ourselves talking. Some people asked to be moved as they found it offensive. We left as soon as we could which was a pity because in the past we've found it a very pleasant experience , good food and good service.

Not been here for ages, and after tasting the food, realized why, Chicken Tikka Ceylon was dreadful. Also the waiting on staff miserable . Will not be returning.

A really wonderful dining experience. My friend and I had a great evening and it was truly amazing food.

Food was ok. I had sea bass but was rather dry. We asked if 1 portion of rise was enough for two they said no but was plenty. So had 1 rice too many. Overall was ok, but we had a lot better in the past. The bill had 10% sub charge. Which I hate. If anyone wants to tip. Can tip if wanted no need to remind anyone. The service was good but food was disappointing.

Hadn’t been here for years. Went for Wednesday evening dinner. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. Could not recommend highly enough. Definitely going back.

Wow! The only frustrating thing is I haven't found this place sooner! Having only ordered takeaway twice from here, it is safe to say I won't order an Indian from any where else in the area! Fantastic food, great flavour and it is always delivered hot and relatively quickly for an Indian. Would love to come in for a meal!

9 of us visited on a busy saturday night we had booked a table small mix up but problem sorted quickly drinks order taken after a few minutes waiters on the whole not very friendly two piles of poppadoms and pickles arrived about 10 minutes later order was taken about 8.30 probably waited almost an hour after getting poppadoms for our meals around 9.30 the food was not the best my biriani was only warm and very bland the vegetable curry with it was also bland no curry flavour at all 2 of us were not drinking so had cokes 4 pints 2 glasses wine and 4 g n ts bill was £240 the toilets were pretty ropey and the whole place felt a little gruby would i return no much better indians in st ives

Montaz is a great restaurant. Great food, great service, great ambience, and always so clean and welcoming. The staff are wonderful, and are happy to help. It's consistently good. Most importantly, the food is amazing! I went last night, on my own, and they're so accommodating, and make me feel so welcome. A great experience, as always. Thank you to all at Montaz 😊

Awful curry, chicken was very tough, rubbery not enjoyable. 4 out of 6 of our party had the same. slow service and some staff abrupt main waiter has severe halitosis disgusting. Restaurant generally very shabby. Will not return. Nothing like the Newmarket Montaz such a disappointment.

Visited this for the second time with work colleagues hoping my first experience was a one off. Spoiler, it wasn't. Ordered a Month Special Balti. It was bland bordering on tasteless. No salt, no chilli, no spices. Partition were also pretty small. I also suspect that the nan breads were NOT fresh. Either from a packet or reheated. Disappointing. Wouldn't be repeating the experience.

Last night me & one of my friends was visited Montaz bar & restaurant. We have done our dinner here. As a food lover I like to try different test of food. I heard from someone that montaz has made their tanduri Items by Rational oven. As per my known we were visiting here last night. We try Tanduri chicken & peshwari nan. Both are Delicious, i feel far better test then any other Indian restaurant. Their curry’s are also extraordinary. Specifically Mala King prawns, Dansakh & Tikka masala. As my first experience, I am very happy & satisfied with their survice.

We've been a few times over the years and I was a bit nervous after recent reviews, but turned out there was nothing to worry about. We were the first in the restaurant, so that could be why we were served promptly and food arrived with no problems. We ordered a good selection of main meals and there was so much. 2 adults and 2 children. We didn't finish one of the 2 rice sides and half of one of the side orders. Kids loved the food and I enjoyed sampling a change from the norm. Only downside now is the fact they charge £3.50 for the chutney tray with the poppadoms, so straight away there were costs you just don't realise, although probably states so in the menu. We'll definitely be back

We had a takeaway that we collected. Ordering over the phone was really easy, the wait time was quite a while but for a weekend evening this is expected. The wait on collection was then a while after expected time but drinks were given for the delay. We ordered Onion bhajis Lamb Rogan Josh Garlic Chicken Garlic Rice Garlic Naan Keema Naan Each item was very hot so you could tell it had been freshly cooked. The food was full of flavour and Montaz is our favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway. If you're looking for a restaurant to eat in or a takeaway I'd recommend Montaz.

Top tier, and a highly recommended indian cuisine. Mixed with the atmosphere and the great smell of the sizzling tandoori, the experience would be a real one. Coming from Bangladesh, a place that homes such food, this really conveys the culture of the food from my home. 5 stars, highly recommend a visit.

I would have given no stars if I could...I ordered a takeaway for myself on 17th December paying £17 in total, just the usual (as I have ordered from here before and not had a problem). Basically the Chicken Korai was as salty as seawater and ridiculously red with no flavour, the rice was also salty and the garlic naan must have been removed from the freezer and chucked in the microwave as it was soggy. I put most of it in the bin. I complained via email the same night and as of yet have not had a response that's why I am now posting a public review. Apparently the website claims they are 'pillars of the community' but it if that was the case maybe they should look after their customers better! I shall find somewhere else in the future.

I was very ill with stomach pain and my partner after eating here . The old man in there was so rude he gave us a tray of chutneys to go with poppadum's but did not tell us there was a extra charge for that . we ordered 1 piece of tandoori chicken he brought 2 so that was double the cost . When we asked for bill he gave to us then he could see we where looking at it to work out why it was so much he grabbed it from my partners hand and said please pay now not wanting my partner to check . The food was not good at all . Go to another Indian but not this one if you want to get ill and over charged .and to be stared at why you are eating very uncomfortable .

Avoid. Mixed tandoori was reheated, not cooked fresh - the meat was cooked but still cold and tasted like it has sat around a few days. Go elsewhere.

We went on Tuesday night as they had a deal. Popadoms, starter, main rice or naan for 16.95 which was totally worth every penny. The restaurant was very busy and the atmosphere was really nice. We ordered chicken jalfrezi and tandoori mixed grill which was delicious! It was a very filling meal and we cant wait to come back

Whilst my other friend and I enjoyed the flavour of ours, I has prawn she had mixed meat, I was up in the night feeling unwell and have spent all morning and afternoon being violently sick. I haven't been this sick for as long as I can remember :( My friend had an upset tummy too but wasn't sick. £100 for 3 meals and a bottle of wine. What a waste. We were supposed to enjoy the day kayaking today. Instead I've spent it in bed feeling like death :( Even the chocolate after eights given with the bill were manky. Appeared to have melted and reformed! I wish I'd read other reviews before coming here. The lady at our local pharmacy (my friend went to get me some sickness and painkiller medication) told him that her daughter had also been made unwell here with a takeaway that had a funny taste to it. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Rang to cancel a reservation and the lady that answered was very rude! As a first impression not very good! Won’t be visiting here!

Not sure where other reviewers have visited. Visiting St Ives we went with a friend here on a Saturday night. It had been recommended by others. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, Cobra was less that £5 a pint and service was friendly and efficient. The only reason I haven’t given a 5 is due to our taste buds are accustomed to our local restraint flavours. But an enjoyable evening all the same.

Visited this evening with a large group having booked the table 4 months ago. The restaurant wasn't full and they knew we were visiting but 2 hours after arriving we hadn't received any food. We had been promised it and told that they were bust with another table. The promises weren't met so we paid for the expensive drinks we'd had whilst waiting and left. The real issue though was that the woman who appeared to be in charge tried to blame us and didn't apologise. Total lack of customer service and empathy so definitely not recommended, very disappointing.

I can't comment about the quality of the food because after sitting and waiting for 2 hours we hadn't had any. The table was booked 4 months ago so they knew we were visiting which means there was no excuse for the complete lack of...

Not the best and probably not the worst. However for a family of four this cost a pretty penny. The chicken was quite dry and had a funny texture to the sauce. I'd say you'd be better going across the road for a takeaway at half the price and twice as tasty. Won't be somewhere I'll rush back too. Saying that my partner thought his was nice at least 🤷‍♀️ so one out of four was at least adequately satisfied.

I strongly recommend you steer clear of this place! Ordered starters and main for 4 to take away. I was violently sick throughout the night and the rest of the party have dodgy stomachs. Never again - his has put me off restaurant curry for life 😡

Very poor food. Two of our party of four have had food poisoning after a takeaway on Sunday evening. Random half boiled egg in my korai set the tone. The food felt reheated from the night before. The naans were 100% not cooked on the day. Cold and like cardboard. Very very disappointing experience aside from it making us ill. Will not be using again.

The best restaurent in st ives for sure.we order for Ch tikka masala and ch patia and it was so delicious to eat.we will be back next week for sure.
