We were a party of 6 on a busy Friday night. Service was speedy, good humoured and attentive. Our mains included sea bass, salmon, chilli king prawn, chicken shashlic and lamb madras, vegetable sides, naans & rice. Food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The restaurant was quite full and pleasantly atmospheric.

Decided we would treat ourselves to an Indian meal and we weren't disappointed. The meals a vegetable biryani and a chicken tikka shashlik were possibly the best we have eaten for a very long time. Absolutely first class. The service was excellent too, which made for a really enjoyable evening. A big and sincere thank you to all at the Montaz

The restaurant was busy with take-out orders, so we were somewhat ignored at our table. The server was tied up on the phone. Food was good, but not great.

Party of 7 didn’t make a booking on a Friday night and we’re happily accommodated by Montaz staff. Service was incredible and food was amazing. They really do look after you. Try the chilli naan bread it’s soooo good if you like spice! 🌶️ Only disappointment is that it wasn’t very busy but they deserve good review to get more customers in this cost of living crisis. I would encourage people to go 😁

Get a montaz takeaway at least once a week. Always delicious, hot, good value and the most important thing, consistent. Never disappointed.

Food was very bad and runny. It was too much hot and we wanted mild food. Waiter treat us very badly. We understood a monkey waiter tried to cleaver with us. We wasted our money and wasted our times. We should not go that restaurant any more. Dog will not eat that food. Customer shouldn't go that restaurant.

Had a Saturday night meal. Really tasty, lots of flavour, good service, good beer. Don't know why we haven't been before. Will be back soon.

Was a little concerned about some of the reviews here but we tried the Montaz anyway. The meal for four of us was lovely! We had a variety of dishes and sides, and everything was delicious. I had a slight issue with raw onions served with a Biriani which was frankly mad, but everything else was excellent quality and indeed so was the Biriani other than the onions. Service was excellent, polite and absolutely no complaints. If there WAS a problem here then it seems to have been put right and I suggest people give them a chance. We will be back when we revisit the town.

This used to be our favourite Indian but sadly doubt if we will ever go back after last night’s experience. We were the only 2 in the restaurant & after 45 minutes still hadn’t received our food . Walked out in the end . There were lots and lots of takeaway orders flying out the door regardless of whether it was ordered before us ! Have always recommended the Montaz as the food is good but would be embarrassed to do so now after the experience we had . Perhaps closing the restaurant and concentrating on takeaway is the way for the Montaz to go .

Saturday evening, 6 of us arrive at 7pm as per our reservation, placed our order, drinks arrived, then we waited and waited. Nobody asked if we wanted another drink, nobody apologised about the wait. Finally food arrived at around 9.10pm. Not all of our order was seved up. Portions of onion bhaji did not arrive and when we asked where they were, we were told that they had run out! All the time that we waited, bags and bags of takeaway food was walked through the restaurant. Pure greed and total disrespect for the clientele. Never again!!

Had takeaways from here before & no problem but tonight went in for a meal, given a table at the bottom of the stairs & it was absolutely freezing so asked to move, new table not much better,at one point the waitress went upstairs & as she came down said "its freezing up there" had to ask for menus & eventually got a drink & poppadum & that was it for almost an hour during which time we saw 6 takeaways going out, finally hungry & cold we gave up & left as did the couple on the table behind us, my son had a table booked for 7 people & cancelled so that was 11 covers that they lost. Really disappointed & wont be going back & if they can't look after us in the restaurant we wont be ordering takaway either!!

Food was ok but meal ruined due to being absolutely freezing in the restaurant. Had to wear outdoor coat and still cold!

Chicken tikka biryani was tasteless and did not have the chunks of chicken tikka as expected, instead there was only 3 very small slices of chicken in the whole dish. Very poor do not order. Chicken tikka masala sauce was ok and while this dish had proper chunks of chicken tikka again there was only 4/5 chunks.

Best Indian food I have ever tried! Would recommend to ANYONE, friendly staff, lovely food. My go to Indian. Service was 10/10 Thank you!

I have been going to Montaz for over 6 years, food and service are excellent, all at reasonable prices. I really should go to the restuarant once this is allowed and would encourage others to give it a try. Excellent take away service too.

The wife and I decided,spontaneously, that we would eat out to help out on Wednesday. Always wanted to visit Montaz together however, never had the opportunity. We were kid free for the evening and called them on the off chance, we were booked in 20:30hrs....

Very disgusting tandoori dishes. Chicken tikka was really non eatable. The rubbish tandoori food. Main course was very good.

Best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant in the area by far. Beautiful fragrant aromatic fresh tasting food that never has a puddle of oil floating on top. The King Prawn Dupiaza is just fantastic. Owner is very friendly and helpful as are his well informed and polite staff....

Collected a takeout on Saturday night, very tasty and reasonably priced. Only downside was they couldn’t deliver but with collection discount we saved a bit too...

Got a takeaway from here; curries were nearly all sauce, contained very little meat (or vegetables). Shared dishes & we ended up with dodgy tummies from dodgy curries! Don't plan to go back.

Thank you yet again Montaz , for a fabulous meal. As everything is freshly cooked it takes time but this not only means delicious food but a time to relax, chill and catch up. What has impressed us is that at some restaurants due to the ‘heat’ of the dish, the flavour is lost but Montaz has it spot on- well done to the kitchen staff. A friendly staff ensures an enjoyable evening and it is so obvious that is exactly what is important to Rahin, the owner, who takes time to ensure people leave happy having experienced an all round enjoyable visit.

I've avoided Montaz for a while, with its chequered history, but I've recently returned. Three of us have been on 2 occasions in the last couple of months and the food has been consistently excellent, we all had different dishes each time. For us, this is now the best indian cuisine in Bourne. The quality of the ingredients is very good, there is a good variety of dishes without being over the top. The food is delicious, well presented, and the service is good.

Early Sunday evening meant no trouble getting a table. Been there before and, as usual, food and service good standard. I've never tried the Butterfly King Prawn starter before and it was massive. We had poppadoms, diet coke and 3 or 4 gin & tonics, rice & garlic nan with the meal, no sweets and it came out to an acceptable £52. We'll be there again some time.

We have been coming to Montaz for many years now. Always treated so well, warm welcomes. The food is incredible and the prices are very good for the quality of food.

Excellent meal, definitely the best curry in Bourne. Good breads and Dhal also. You can also order online.

We have visited a number of times as a couple and always had a lovely meal. This time we took our 7 and 9 year old children with us and they simply loved it.

We at subway love to use this place in the evenings. Nice atmosphere, good food, great staff. I would always recommend Montaz to anyone who loves food.

I am a huge Montaz fan. Really lovely food with loads of taste, not just heat! The staff are great, definitely the friendly and always extremely accommodating.

We took our friends here and ended up leaving feeling really disgruntled. When we arrived we were told our table had not been booked even though we had booked several days before. We were then told to wait and they would try and sort it. We waited 15 minutes at the table before receiving a menu or a waiter to offer us a drink.

I ordered two shashlik curries one chicken and one lamb the chicken was ok but the lamb was very tough and could have done with marinating before cooking the sides were ok but not impressed

Went here for a meal whilst staying with family. Lots of choice, really good menu, lovely friendly and attentive staff. We all had clean plates! Would highly recommend this restaurant, and it’s an old building with lots of character too.

After moving to Bourne very recently we finally had the opportunity to eat out in the evening.

The food here was great. Tasteful and lots of choice. They also have vegetarian options and fish only options for people who can’t eat meat. Prices aren’t too bad either, and the takeaway side gives great food too. I always have the chicken korma as I can’t take spice, and it’s been perfect every time for me.

I live in Bourne and have for nearly forty years. This is the worst take-away we have ever had. It was cold & tasteless. Would I recommend this, not a chance. Please do not waste your time & money.

We visited Monday evening which was our first visit, but won't be our last. The food was very nice, all very fresh and tasty not too spicy but full of nice flavours . The service was extremely good and as I have mentioned we will be returning.

I've tried the other Indian Restaurants in Bourne but this one is my fave by far. Their chicken jalfrezi is the best ever and whether eating in or getting a takeaway the food and customer service is always great!

I've been coming here for both take aways and meals for as long as I can remember and the standard of food and service compared to other restaurants I have tried in the area is far superior. The staff go above and beyond to accommodate you and you are always given a warm welcome. Our take aways are always delivered promptly and never a disappointment.Highly recommend!

We've been here several times and it gets better and better. On being greeted by a member of staff you immediately feel at home and know it's going to be a great evening. There's a nice bar area in the first room you enter with seating...ideal when coming to collect your take-away (which we've done numerous times). The eating part of the restaurant leads from the bar area and also upstairs. This is a very old building and has character.... a pleasing environment to be in while enjoying your meal and company.We feel comfortable here as no pressure is placed on you to have this or that. Sometimes we just have a main course while other times we'll enjoy the popadoms, starters and mains. I can feel another visit coming on! A great drink to have with your meal is Bangla larger, or come to that, whatever you'd like....they have a variety. My favourite is Lamb Sagwala (but if you like things a little hotter then ask for finely chopped chillies so you can sprinkle over the top - the chef is very accommodating). I'm sure your visit to this restaurant won't be your last. Try it, you'll wonder why you haven't been before! Enjoy!

Monday used to be our favourite restaurant in town, but when we went for a family meal out I was disappointed by a bland meal which was on Luke warm when it was brought out. Naan was chewy and felt stale as it it was made the previous night. We eat early as we have y our children but that shouldn't be a reason to compromise on quality

A very old building, quaint. The starters and main were very good. Waiters friendly. We went on a Wednesday evening when it was certain dishes for £10.95. Good value.

Visited after a game of golf. Chicken Dupiaza was the worst dish I have ever had in an 'Indian' in the UK. Devoid of taste, wallowing in massive chunks of barely cooked onion. Chicken was like rubber. Service was OK and polite staff offered an alternative, but we declined. Won't be returning. Very disappointed.

Visited Montaz with a Party of about 10-15 for a friends birthday. Whilst the food was of a nice quality when it arrived the service was appalling. We ordered poppadoms, starters and mains as well as drinks. Drinks came in dribs and drabs over a period of about 30 minutes, and many people had to ask where there's was as it wasn't coming... It seemed they had missed them off the order or simply just forgotten. Having eaten the poppadoms, we thought we would be helpful and stack the plates to the end of the table so the waiter/ess could grab them in one go. At this point drinks were still being brought, and those who brought the drinks completely ignored the empty glasses and plates. I eventually asked a waiter to take the empty plates to which he replied "I'll send someone to get them" and walked away with empty hands. Next thing our starts arrived and yet we still had a table of dirty plates and empty glasses and bottles. Which we again had to ask the waiter to remove. Starters finished, and they did manage to take the plates away. Then came the mains, the waiter/ess didn't know the names of the dishes and referred to one dish as the "lamb and mint thing", having waited a while for my main I started nibbling on my curry before the rest of my order arrived, to be told 5 minutes later that actually the butter chicken they had given me was actually pasinda. They took away my half eaten pasinda and offered it to the other guests on my table. Turns out no one ordered pasinda. The delivery of mains involved promoting and reminding the staff what we had ordered, to what seemed like they were just going back to the kitchen to order. Most people had eaten their curry before the rice arrived. One of my friends ordered a korma, this came vey very late, after everyone else had finished and it appeared not to be the korma she ordered but the pasinda I was given earlier on. Additionally our naan came later on, as they had given the peshwari naan we ordered to another guest on the table under another name, the staff later came to tell us about the error and ask to swap, but the other guests had already eaten the peshwari they thought was what they ordered. Overall, terrible terrible service! Which is a shame because the food was lively. We have never had this problem before but the staff appeared to be different to previous staff. We were offered no apology or discount on the bill for the troubles we had.

Popped in on the way back home on Friday night.Got a table no problems, restaurant was half full at best, lacked atmosphere , other customers had coats on, no heating on, or was it broken ? Staff friendly , service good.There is a good choice of dishes and some different options.It's okey, have been before same experience on the first visit.

Meals were tasty and full of flavour. The service was swift and drinks the normal Indian selection, Kingfisher or Cobra. The restaurant is in a former house which explains why it is a bit cosy in there. Overall a great meal but could do with a bit more room.

Superb meal tonight at Montaz. My wife had a chicken tawa (sizzling dish) and I had a lamb tawa. Both dishes were beautifully presented and rich in flavour. To finish our meal we ordered two of Suhan's speciality Irish coffees - simply awesome!!

this place is more noteworthy as an old and venerable building rather than a great restaurant. the food is OK and perfectly acceptable but nothing spectacular and certainly no different from any number of other Indian/ Bangladeshi restaurants

The montaz Wednesday night special is the best night! However the food is always amazing, wonder staff and service and you are always totally full when you leave!! Can't wait for my next visit - never disappoints!

This is very local to us and we quite often get a take away from here. The restaurant is lovely and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming whilst remaining very professional. The food is great and we have never had a bad meal from here.

The Oakham Curry Club's (OCC) most recent outing was to the Montaz located in Bourne. The scoring system is well recognised by our subscribed readers so without any further a dues the scores for the Montaz are as follows:Customer Care: 6.33Service: 5.89Value: 6.17Quality: 5.33Atmosphere: 5.11Total Score: 5.77Summary:To start, I think it would be fair to say the fine quality of the Nawab Lounge was still within recent memory of the members with the one word to describe the Nawab Lounge was 'wow'. To continue the one word trend, the visit to Montaz was average. In an attempt to quash any presuppositions, it would be fair of me to say if this was the first curry house the OCC had ever visited then the experience would still be scored as average. The OCC were greeted by three young and enthusiastic members of staff whom seemed excited to waiter on the formidable OCC. No faults with the introduction to the Montaz. We were escorted to the upstairs room where we were placed in what can be destined as a private function room. This could be interpreted in two ways; we were VIP guests and were about to receive royal treatment or we were a large group places out of the way of smaller groups and families. A conclusion hasn't been generated.It is common knowledge that the poppadom experience is of key importance to all OCC members so I'm saddened to say the poppadoms were not as crispy as the OCC expected and the sauces were served in small pots. To the credit of the staff, more sauces were brought out on request.I don't want to fall foul of repeating myself but I wasn't to visit the atmosphere score. The Nawab Lounge had an electric atmosphere with the decor to match, it created the Friday night vibe that avid curry lovers enjoy. Unfortunately the Montaz atmosphere and setting was more like what you would expect on a Sunday afternoon roast at the pub with the grandparents. Now the OCC members can take any environment and transform it into a night of many laughs and stories, however when the assessment takes into account the atmosphere it's only fair to mention where it went wrong.This review doesn't have to be one sided on the negatives, therefore it should be balanced with a couple of positives. In general the food was served in a timely manner without any errors or hiccups with who ordered what. Based on experience of dining in large groups, this point shouldn't be underestimated. Credit to the staff here. One of the waiters participated in a couple of jokes which is always a nice touch. It shows their human and emotional side and they're not just a serving robot. It was no surprise the customer care score was the highest mark of all.To conclude, it was a pleasant evening enjoyed by the OCC attendees but as evidenced by the scores the curry experience was one of mediocrity and averageness. We look forward to the next meet!

If you are looking for Indian food in Bourne this is the best - I've tried the others. Not only is the food excellent but the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and historic features. Can get busy at peak times and food may take longer but it is well worth the wait.

Me and my wife used Montaz for a takeaway evening for the very first time. Very impressed with the service and the standard of the food. Will definitely be using them again and will make a visit to the restaurant soon.

This is the second time me and my partner have been to this restaurant we tried the other Indian restaurant in Bourne and surrounding area but this one's by far the best. food very good and service is great and not overpriced.

We visited Montaz on Saturday 6th Feb as a party of 6. We had heard good reviews from friends so thought we would try it as a birthday celebration meal. When we arrived they showed us to a table in an alcove next to an old door. It would have been OK for 4 people but certainly not 6, plus there was a cold draught from the door! So we asked if there were any other tables available which the waitress told us there was not. So we said we would have to leave as it was far too cramped and cold! As we were walking down the street the manager came running after us to say he had sorted another table, so we turned round and went back. We were showed to our new table upstairs, again it wasn't very roomy but much better than before. We were sat for 15 mins before we then had to ask for menus and for the waiter to take a drinks order from us. It was then a further 10 mins before the drinks arrived and we then waited another 20 mins before we were then approached to take our orders. Once we had ordered it was 1 hr and 10 mins before the food arrived. However, it arrived in dribs and drabs and our side dishes such as the rice and naan's were very late. To the point that one of the party had actually finished her main before her rice arrived. We queried where the remaining two rice sides were to be told there was a problem in the kitchen and they were on the way! We eventually heard the waiter coming upstairs BUT only because we heard him trip and fall dropping our two rice dishes on the stairs. Needless to say by this point we were very irritated and told him not to worry as we had finished our mains by this point. We then asked for the bill but this was never brought to us. We went downstairs to pay and we were shocked to see that we had been charged full price and even for the rice that we did not receive! We complained to the owner and he had the cheek to argue back with us and eventually offered to knock £20 off the bill (total bill was £121). We were not satisfied with this and just paid £80 which was our mains and one round of drinks.All in all I would NEVER go back to this restaurant. Table service is ridiculously slow, food is nothing above average, and the customer service is shocking to say the least! Avoid!

Ordered a collection to take away; ready on time and the food was fantastic with plenty of it. Have used them many times before and will do many times again. Happy and friendly staff and never a bad meal

The food was served professionally and the taste of the Chicken Jalfrazi was exceptional. I would recommend this Indian to all groups of people.

Our first visit to this restaurant was a spur of the minute decision, there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we arrived the waiter was polite. We waited eagerly for our order which was quite prompt, but sadly the quality was not what I was expecting. Basic chicken with a sauce on just about the same as you could do at home. I don't think I will be going there again.

Found this place like a standard Indian with the normal range of currys all cooked ok but nothing special

Last night's meal for 4 to celebrate a birthday was good in all respects. Excellent, polite staff and a reasonable price for a "Wednesday Special". Although I am not a great lover of Indian food myself, the other three said it was some of the best they had had. We all ate far too much, and the house "red" is delicious - Shiraz of the best. We are always made to feel welcome. The restaurant is in the centre of town, close to pubs. The food is very good and the restaurant is well maintained. Takeaways are also recommended.

Visited for the first time and was very pleased with the service and food. Good general selection of the run of the mill curry dishes, and then there are the house specialities, A great selection of tasty dishes which include, lamb , chicken and Fish. You cannot find a dishes that you would not like. The dishes were hot and a good size portion. Service is friendly and the prices are value for money.

The food is consistently good and the chef's specials are changed so there is something new to try. The ambience is laid back but very friendly. We have been going to the Montaz for 8 years now and they have never let us down. Raheen and his team focus on ensuring that their customers are welcomed and looked after.

Cant fault this restaurant for where its located.......situated in the oldest building in Bourne, the owners have made the most of the original features and heaven forbid have not modernised! So you get a lovely atmosphere at this location, perfect if you want something a little romantic.....the staff will augment this experience with very friendly smiley service. However.......The food....is not for me....so many of my friends rave about this being their favourite in Bourne, but try as I might I cannot agree that the dishes are anything special. They always taste almost like they are out of a jar to me. But, give it a go yourself.....each to their own, you might agree more with my friends than me! P.S. Whether its a Friday night takeaway or meal out with family and friends Montaz offers the best experience in Bourne by a country mile.Food is always of a high standard and is the menu is varied and caters for all, which for a family with 3 veggies in is brilliant.Service is always friendly and accommodating but staff never hover over you. When you come in for a takeaway all bar staff are very friendly and chatty which helps pass the time.When i first moved to Bourne we sampled all the Indian restaurants and after trying Montaz have not been back to another one since. Could not recommend it highly enough

Immediately got a good impression when entering the restaurant from the great service and great atmosphere! The restaurant has a lovely decor; making it feel really personal and inviting. Not least to mention, food was superb as always (best in the local area) and i would highly recommend it! The staff will cater for all needs, whether they're food related or otherwise.

Not normally a fan of an Indian so when my neice suggested it I wasn't a fan. However my meal at Montaz was delicious, fresh and really friendly. I definitely will be revisiting there and nowhere else ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
