The best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted, ever better than the famous anstruther fish and chip shop which is good. Lovely service .

Delicious! A light batter on the fish served with skin on chips which were cooked to perfection. Best we’ve had in a long time.

This seemed to be the only option in Fort William on a wet Monday night. However we were very pleased with our Fish suppers. Lovely beautifully cooked fish and plenty of chips. Would recommend.

We had driven over from Aviemore for the day in our motorhome as the weather was slightly warmer, had a walk around the village then called here for fish and chips, wasn't cheap but a huge portion so me and my husband had a fish and chip meal between us, the fish was cooked to order and superb, the chips were also very good .Would definitely recommend.

Best fish and chips we have had for a long time - despite being very busy due to restaurants closing at 6pm the service was well organised and everything was freshly cooked and hot!!

Nos habíamos perdido y nos encontramos con Fort Augustus anoche y encontramos esta tienda de pescado y patatas fritas. Tenía 8 años. 05 y en la puerta dijo cerrada a las 8. 30. Pedí una porción de patatas fritas (2,50) y pregunté si podía añadir una salchicha y el precio se disparó hasta 6. 00! Me paré en la puerta / afuera porque me sentía un poco incómodo por el hecho de que había pedido comida y querían cerrar. El tipo gimió porque no había tenido su descanso para fumar y luego trajo todos los letreros exteriores adentro. La chica me ofreció algunas cebollas en escabeche gratis, no las rechazó porque solo pagué 3. 50 por una salchicha. nos sentamos en el coche, mi madre no comió las de ella porque las patatas fritas no eran buenas y el queso era barato y sin sabor, mis salchichas caras estaban riquísimas (baratas aunque lo mismo que las uso en mi cafetería), diría que una cuarta parte de mi Las patatas fritas todavía estaban duras y crudas, pero suceden cosas. Llene un hueco para nuestro viaje de 3 horas de regreso para descubrir el hotel: mirar el lado positivo fue una aventura y una historia

Vacaciones en Fort Augustus y había estado en Fort William por el día. Podría haber estado allí para comer pescado y patatas fritas, pero mi marido y yo decidimos que preferiríamos decirles a los lugareños dónde nos quedamos. ¡No debería haberme molestado!No me importa si alguien ha estado ocupado y se ha quedado sin cosas, esto sucede. Pero dejarnos parados en la puerta durante 5 minutos no fue absolutamente ningún reconocimiento, sino una discusión con otros miembros del personal sobre cómo no les quedaban fichas y él no estaba ganando más y el hecho de que cerraba en 10 minutos. Quizás su pescado y papas fritas son geniales, ¡pero su servicio al cliente es impactante! ! !

Está al lado del aparcamiento principal de Fort Augustus. Después de un paseo por el borde del lago y las puertas, fuimos a cenar aquí.Pescado y patatas fritas recién cocinados (hay otras opciones disponibles) y relativamente caro, aunque tienes una buena cantidad de comida.Hubiera sido mejor tener algunas mesas limpias afuera y este es el único inconveniente ya que tuvimos que comerlo allí mismo.Lo recomiendo.

Simply great fish and chips. Not much more to say. We’d had a long day walking and took them back to the house we’d rented. But of a queue and all fried fresh but worth the wait. Good value and would recommend.

Servicio absolutamente repugnante, personal grosero y cierre temprano, esta no es una manera de ejecutar un bisseness, debe estar abierto hasta la hora indicada y no cerrar antes. No recomiendo que nadie vaya aquí. Llegué con 15 minutos antes de que cerraran (bueno, a qué hora se suponía que debían cerrar) pero ya habían cerrado las puertas. La peor parte es que vivo localmente y soy un habitual de esta tienda de pescado y chuletas y no volveré, has perdido un buen cliente.

Cooked to order so fish was nice and fresh BUT the chip portions would have been ideal for my 7 year old grandson!! There was no options for different portion sizes and only Haddock on menu.

Down in Fort Augustus for the weekend and decided to go for a takeaway on our last night. My girlfriend and I came across this takeaway place and it looked pretty good for the amount of customers. The staff took the order as quickly as possible and we waited outside. Once our food was ready we forgot to ask for ketchup so my girlfriend went back in to get some to which the staff shouted that they couldn’t hear her and she felt as though the attitude was very off. I then went back in to get this

Hit the spot! We stopped here during our kayaking trip from fort William to Inverness. I say this as it may have skewed my view a bit but the food was just what we needed, efficient and friendly service with good covid setup. No complaints and would go there again!

Visited last night on the basis of there being a queue. Must be good, we thought. Mediocre and overpriced food. Small portions for the hefty price. And the proprietor, who thinks (wrongly) that he is some sort of sage, mouthing off to and at customers in a constant stream of filth. Despite kids being present. Whole experience left a very nasty taste in the mouth. Never again.

Brilliant fish and chips takeaway for all the family - the fish was caught that morning and beautifully fresh, the chips were really tasty and not greasy and the mushy peas finished it off perfectly. Great for a hot, family holiday meal eaten as it should be on our knees!

I am vegan due to dietary restrictions and also personal choices. They have a veggie and vegan burger option on the menu so I ordered the vegan burger and when I got served the burger it had butter on the bread roll. I went in to ask if I had gotten the veggie by mistake and the girl just lifted the bun up and said “no that’s vegan” so I told her I couldn’t eat dairy and there was spread on the roll but she looked at me like she didn’t have a clue what I was on about. I decided to just ask if I could have a refund as I was so tired and wanted to get back to my house.The food did look ok actually and wasn’t exactly expensive so it’s not that I wouldn’t recommend it to others without dietary restrictions but if you do have allergies then the staff don’t have much understanding so you could get sick. Not only that but the girl behind the counter groaned really loudly as I was leaving and it just felt very passive aggressive. I felt like I had done something wrong when I really hadn’t.

Average to good fish and chips - have had better and equally have had worse. Quick service and all cooked to order. Staff OK - no pleasantries! Seems to always be popular with a queue at the door.

The girl who takes orders behind the counter is perhaps the rudest member of staff that I have ever encountered. No one could understand or believe her attitude. Absolutely dreadful customer service.

So I don’t really tend to do reviews, but I read the reviews here after eating from the place. I genuinely don’t understand how it has so many 1* reviews, genuinely baffled. Prices were reasonable and the food was fantastic. People saying that the chips were “frozen” have clearly never seen frozen chips before.

We were stood outside following the covid 19 rules written on the door. There was a queue and the customers in front of us were all called to order "next order please" we were then left at the front waiting to be called from about 20:05 until 20:20 when the girl serving said "do you want to order something" so we said yes and when we ordered 5 portions of chips as we're a family with 3 young children. The guy behind the counter, stormed off and said "f#@k that, that's going to be ages" as he stormed off, came back to the fryer and slammed a basket of chips in. Really, really awful customer service. Supposed to be family friendly, but clearly not.Will not be going there again.Also really overpriced. £3.50 for 2 small and overcooked sausages.£3.70 for a hand full of chips with cheese and chilli sauce.Awful a

The worst Fish & Chips that I ever had. Whenever I went to Inverness seen a long queues. That mad me to decide to try on a rainy day. The place wasn't even busy but the fish was cooked already just to get rid of customers, probably it was under the lamp for few hours...Avoid this place, even Londis Supermarket behind this place would be a better choice for food.

Fish was cooked fresh but tasted stale and dry chips. Wasn't nice at all. Recommend sitting in one of the pubs for fish and chips when staying in Fort Augustus.

Hay varios establecimientos en toda la zona del Lago de este pequeño pueblo. Nos decantamos por este para comprar un fish&chips para llevar.No recuerdo el precio (creo que rondaba las 5 libras), pero la ración era muy atractiva. Y estaba riquísimo. Es cierto que fue el único que probé y no puedo compararlo. Sin embargo, nos pusieron unos filetes muy bien empanados, con salsa tártara que estaban realmente buenos.

Premetto che il monster ci è stato segnalato come il miglior fish and chips delle highlands.. entrati per acquistare siamo stati invasi da un odore fortissimo di burro bruciato.. il banco ...tipo friggitoria ospitava ad un lato le patate e nell'altro il pesce ..il tutto veniva aggiunto per la vendita di continuo.. le patate grondavano grasso..il pesce .. porzione enorme .. uguale. tutti abbiamo rinunciato. pertanto non avendo assaggiato non so se se si possa valutare la pietanza.. però visivamente.. ci è mancato il coraggio..

Locale suggerito caldamente dalla guida di Scozia tour. Il gestore è estremamente maleducato: abbiamo pagato 17 sterline con un biglietto da 20, il gestore, alla nostra richiesta di avere una delle sterline di resto divise in monete da 50 pence, ci ha mostrato il dito medio. La qualità del cibo, comunque, non era eccelsa: le patatine erano dure, praticamente immangiabili.

Absolutamente terrible, los dos hombres que sirven son extremadamente groseros e ignorantes, entiendo que no les gustan los ingleses, bueno, entonces no deberían correr un poco en un complejo turístico. Ciertamente es el único lugar en el que se escaparían con una comida tan desagradable y cara. Las papas fritas no son demasiado difíciles de cocinar, pero las nuestras eran duras y secas y en su mayoría eran puntas finas, incluso nuestro perro no las comía. El pescado no era fresco y pedimos una pechuga de pollo que estaba dura como una roca. Visitamos el área regularmente y nunca más volveremos a comer aquí, un local me dijo que el que estaba al otro lado del canal era mucho mejor.

Expensive place where we were treated like dirt. The man working there was the RUDEST person I have ever come across—abrupt, sarcastic, and told everyone to f-off from f-ing up his system. It is a disgrace people get away with this. If you want to be abused and overcharged, come here. Otherwise there are other places. I feel embarrassed as someone who lives in Scotland that visitors are treated this way. I really have never had such unbelievably rude service. I had to walk out. At some point the guy working there will get himself in trouble by speaking to the wrong person the way he does. He was rude to absolutely everyone, swearing at people, using a hopeless system. Please save yourself the kind of upset we had for being nothing other than very patient very polite customers. All we did was order a few portions of chips—didn’t expect this kind of behaviour. my wife says the peas were nice. AVOID

People aren't lying, this place is as good as it gets for take away in Scotland. In order to get a better meal, I had to pay 3 times as much later on and it was only equal to this shop, not better. If you love your F&S;, stop here.

If you want to pay £6 for a small portion of chips...then this is the place to go! The staff are incredibly rude and obviously have no customer service skills or respect towards paying customers. We visited here on 8th October and the staff were incredibly rude towards paying customers, in fact, the staff member quoted 'I am only racist towards the English' and referred to paying customers as 'them' in a derogatory manner. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but my advice would be don't open a chip shop in a tourist area! We live in the 21st century and nobody has time for small minded individuals. Had we had known the staffs attitude was 'this' bad, we wouldn't have bothered and would have saved our money. The only monsters here, are the staff! Save your money and avoid.

One of the best fish and chips lunch. The Haddock portion was hugh and crispy. The queue was long and not very systematic. Suggest to have a roped area for order then hang around for food pick up. Overall, a satisfied lunch.

Feeling tired after a long day we couldn’t face sitting and waiting for food so opted for fish n chips here. Looked good from the outside, seating outside, fresh fish cooked to order..... best decision we’ve made! The fish was fabulous and the batter perfect

Fuimos a Fort Augustus para hacer un crucero por el lago ness ( el cual no compensa hacer, la zona es suficientemente adecuada para disfrutarla) pero teníamos muy poco tiempo para comer, así que esta comida rápida fue ideal. Comimos hamburguesa de pollo, bien preparada, patatas ricas, servicio rápido, pero solo para llevar, poco sitio donde sentarse y cuidado que se forman grandes colas cuando llegan todos los turistas de golpe, además, las salsas como mayonesa y ketchup valen cada paquetito 20 p.

Our food was cooked to order and was excellent. The Haddock was very large and came with a large portion of chips. We would recommend this chip shop to anyone in the area. Excellent value for money.

THey only sold Haddock, no Cod. The 2 staff were young guys who were cooking really didn't want to be there. Their attitude was very poor. Waited for the fish to be cooked. The batter was so soggy it was inedable. Chips cold. My American family couldn't believe how bad it was. Our recomendation is take your money some where else. Very pricy.

The food was cooked to order and wasn't bad at all. Bit pricey though. The server got our order mixed up and gave us a buttered roll instead of a pickled onion.

Stopped by here at about 8pm on a Monday for some fish and chips.

Encouraged by the reviews & the queue outside we ordered a mix of haddock, sausage, white pudding & ribs.. and a bag of chips. Under the thick batter the fish was excellent, ditto white pudding (ribs are the reshaped pork variety and a bit odd)..but it was all spoilt by the thick batter and the heavy yellow cooking oil that dripped off everything. Maybe we hit the wrong day..

I absolutely loved it! I have no idea whether the fish was fresh nor were the potatoes out of the freezer, but the meal was definitely a memorable one. This place is a fast food style restaurant with a couple of tables outside.

Excellent fish and chips break while out hunting for Nessie. Portions are huge. 1 serving fed my wife and I. .Reasonable prices.

Take my advice and share a portion of chips to go with whatever you order. When we visited, the chippy was fairly busy and everything was cooked to order, so no issue with reheated chips even though the 10 minute wait did seem longer!!. A good light batter and plenty of salt and vinegar made for a very enjoyable evening supper.

I had fish and chips in every town we visited on a two week journey around Scotland. Even though I am paying for my "research" now, I can say that Monster had the best fish and chips hands down, nobody a close second. Service, well yes it was surly as you can read in other reviews. They are overrun by bus after bus of tourists and what teenager food service worker isn't going to roll their eyes? Worst service ever, but I was there for the food. I was happy to find a place that I could buy just the fish, and not the chips. I did steal a few from my teen. Monster's fish was what I expected in my mind UK fish shop would serve up. Delish.

Travelled from our accommodation 30 minutes away as we have had lots of restaurant meals through the week and wanted a change. Paid £7 each for a white pudding and black pudding supper and a can of juice each. The chips have clearly been overcooked/reheated more than once. Biting into the pudding the grease dripped down my chin.

Called in at 5pm. My wife had the gluten free fish supper and I had the ordinary one. Both were cooked to order.

Ideally located in the village centre, between the main car park and the filling station, with a good range of reasonably-priced food and drinks, plus prompt and friendly service.

This is a busy wee fish and chip shop. Great food, friendly service and they do proper kids portions.

Just had some chips today as we were leaving, bit expensive but I guess its geared for the tourists who visit, liked the idea that they had put tiny flags on the products to let people know what each item was, again tailored for the tourists

Had wonderful gluten free fish and chips here - so good! They even have a dedicated GF fryer. Staff was friendly and service was fairly quick, although I’m sure it can get backed up when a tour bus or two come in.

Our first night in Fort Augustus visiting from Australia. We had read I our visitors guide a recommendation so we decided to try. We chose haddock and chips. Served piping hot ( even after walking home) fish was crisp and chips fat and tasty. We will be back to try something else on the menu too!

Just had some awesome haddock and chips here. They offer gluten free batter and where more than happy to cook us some fresh fish and chips. Perfect after a couple of funky meals on our trip

We had their fish and chips and sausage and chips with buttered buns and gravy. Great taste and the food is very fresh. A busy place which is testimony to the quality of their food.

Really delicious. Busy and chaotic on sunny Easter Sunday, system was in place for service but unclear till other customers filled you in. £8.50 for fish and chips seemed expensive to me but was worth it in the end.

Had a quick stop for fish (haddock) and chips. The fish was fresh, hot and delicious. Three stars are due to the quantity (only 1 fillet) and the cost. There is only limited outdoor seating but you can also just walk and eat.

Yesterday we called in on the way home from a busy day shopping in Inverness at about 1700 fully expecting to have something nice to eat but we were very disappointed, the fish was hot but very greasy and the chips must have been refried as they were dry and chewy not a pleasant experience at all, had we not been eating on the go I would have returned the meals, we will not be calling anymore :-(

I’ve been here twice and had 2 of the best fish suppers I’ve ever had. Always a good sign when you see the fish being prepared fresh to order rather than lying on a hot plate. Absolutely delicious!

A pleasant surprise after reading some of the bad reviews. Polite and friendly service. Wouldn't make the top league of fish and chips, but the chips were average and the fish wasn't bad. The cheesy chips with chilli sauce were tasty too. It's a bit more expensive than usual - but that's Loch Ness...

We travelled to Fort Augustus las week and had the joy of experiencing fish and chips from this lovely, clean establishment. The food was an excellent quality and tasted divine. My friend was fascinated with ‘their way’ of adding vinegar to your portion...great idea and we will be using it at home. Can heartily recommend for great food and very friendly staff. We will definitely be returning

Been three times in past two months for gluten free fish and chips at lunch time. Found the man who works there nice and friendly. And we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Will be back.

Stayed in town, went here for fish and chips and smokey and chips, the chips were re heated, smokey out of packet, vinegar sprayed on, really expensive, small portions, sauces poured from branded bottles and poured in to their own smaller containers. Very unhelpful and clueless, wish I read reviews here from November, guess they don’t care as they will screw over trip buses that come in and out regular. If I can save one person it’s wortg writing, oh and waste of £16 !!

Bad experience. Total rip-off. Do not go here. Woman behind the counter is the only Monster in sight. Rude with a rubbish attitude. Makes a small little girl work behind the counter, while ordering her around and being exceptionally rude to customers. The food is over priced and really not worth the price. Hard pass. Head over to the many other places next door with warm welcoming staff.

Popped in for a simple portion of chips. 2.50 was a lot for a very small portion in a small polystyrene carton. I was expecting a bag of chips as per anywhere else in the UK especially for 2.50 but this was not the case.

We had set our heart on fish and chips during our Fort Augustus stay - we were self-catering so this was a treat to eat at home on our last evening. There are two fish and chip establishments in FA - this one seems to have more positive reviews. It was lovely - clean, tidy and really delicious haddock. Chips were excellent and seemed very fresh. Service was perhaps a little on the less than personal side, otherwise would have given this five stars. I liked the vinegar spray for the food - a novel idea, that probably saves a bit of money for the owner, but actually is an improvement on what you normally get - chips soaked in cheap vinegar making them all soggy.
