Lovely meal. - proper pub grub with real cut chips ! Such a rarity these days. Great quality and hubby loved the burger - will defo come again 😄

Stunning food and stunning pub. Played darts and pool and watched the footy with the kids for a few hours. They loved it and food was the best I've had in ages.

Food Luke warm, small portion of meat,spuds burnt, run out of mint cranberry And apple sauce, had to ask for some. Veg cold would not recommend sorry

Worse food I’ve had in years, and I travel 2 to 3 days per week. In fairness, staff are sound, but the food is as rough as… stick to being a pub that just serves beer as good atmosphere, but should not be serving food as completely unacceptable. When they collected my plate, I just said I’m sorry but that was awful, the mash was ok, but that is not a pie, tough as old boots and how is that puff pastry. Response was they’d pass my comments to the ‘chef’….. Nothing else was said or offered, embarrassing customer service.

This place is terrible, barman wasn't really interested, asked for alcohol free cider, didn't have any, asked what he did have,and was given a very warm alcohol free larger, I had to ask for ice and a glass., Service was unexcusable,as there was only 2 others in the bar, so he couldn't blame be busy..really very rude...I will never go there again and shall not recommend to anyone.this place has really gone down hill. Avoid if at all possible , tables were sticky and filthy.

Booked 2x double rooms for 5 nights to visit family following the pandemic. The rooms were (apparently) recently refurbished?!? An actual wardrobe would have been handy to unpack our suitcases! We had booked for 18x people for Sunday lunch but were advised ‘Not’ to chance it, but decided to have a smaller family meal on the Saturday night (for 9 people) I was advised to ‘book in advance’ due to being busy!!! We attended at 7pm on Saturday evening - we were the 2nd of TWO tables taken that night!! My fish & chips consisted of a slightly bigger Birdseye fish finger and 8/9 chips for = £12.00 !! I complained and told that was the market price!!! I’ve NEVER sent a complete meal back before to the kitchen for a replacement! The lasagne was microwaved to oblivion! The top like a frisbees and mince like pebbles! The gammon was the only slightly palatable morsel offered! We complained and were offered a free dessert or drink, we didn’t want either due to (what the heck will we be served) and time restraints!! And were not offered ANY discount on the meal! To top this, look at their website with pictures of outstanding dishes served on slate platters… We were served chips in a SOUP bowl!!! It’s a pity the OWNER was actually sitting at the ONLY OTHER TABLE taken that night, and he chose to ignore our custom and complaints and let the poor (ever bated) young staff to deal with it! Seriously, get a grip in your kitchen and provide a decent service to new and old customers alike, not the attitude of, rip off and repeat!!!

Sunday Carvery was cold wasted most of the food, as it was so cold, althogh the turkey was nice the veg cold even the gravy was cold, I did notice a few dinners were wated on ther tables, another thing Cat roaming arounf the restaurant

Lovely room but let down by the terrible mattress,went for evening meal soup was cold,steak pie cold which I sent back to be reheated still couldn’t eat it so was glad when the resident cat joined us he/she ate the meat which I didn’t even have to cool down for him/her to eat!, lovely bathroom but after filling kettle and having tea I went to brush my teeth and was disgusted to see the filters on the taps absolutely clogged with dirt!,🤢 I have photos of taps should you wish to see them!?

Visited the lodge on the recommendation of a friend . Called in for lunch staff member behind the bar was very helpful and friendly. Had steak pie and steak which were both ok but was spoiled because the chips and peas were on the cold side ,on the other hand the Belgian waffle I had for dessert was very nice . Food was also slow to come out even though it was not busy .

Shocking food steak was a lump of fat...forgot the birthday cake for my partner starters missed beef dripping sauce was late and then forgot 2 young girl serving us couldn’t crack a smile even if she tried.. terrible

Incredibly slow. An hour for two pizzas and a burger. No explanation or apology. Not busy at the time. Wouldn't go back.

Overall disappointing. Family reunion with my auntie visiting from Australia. Part of 40 which we appreciate was a large booking but last dinner arrived when most had already finished theirs. Also first day of summer holidays and children stopped from playing in garden at 8:45. Charged for a meal we didn’t received- taken off bill after lots of complaining. Overall very disappointed.

Had a buffet here for a baby shower. Cakes were delicious and good variety for vegetarians. Lots of space here, inside and out. Does maybe need a bit of redecoration.

What a lovely evening we had at Brewers Lodge. Three course meal with free bottle of wine and a cupcake each. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Ambience was perfect. Steak was delicious. Toilets very clean.

Was booked in this evening for the Valentine’s meal (Me,my partner and our two friends) but cancelled purely down to the attitude of the staff member on the phone. My friend received a phone call Monday asking for us to call with what we wanted for food. So when I called up first,spoke to a nice guy,advised that my partner would have the steak and I’d have the vegetarian option (I was not aware that this was a sharing platter) He wrote my order down and I thought everything was fine. Five minutes later I had a phone call back from one of the girls (I took her name but I’m not going to be that person and slate it all over Facebook) Her attitude and tone was disgusting! She said “right you can’t have the steak and the veggie option,it’s a sharing platter” so I apologised and stated I wasn’t aware of that and sorry I hadn’t looked at the menu,my fault,but that’s fine we will just have the veggie option and my partner will pay for a separate steak. She continued with the attitude and again said “it doesn’t work like that,it’s a set sharing platter,so you have one or the other” So again I said it was no issue and we would share the veggie option,as I don’t eat meat and he wouldn’t mind. Instead of accepting what I said,she continued to say “I did tell your friend this when she booked the table so you can either share the steak or share the veggie option” so again I reminded her that I don’t eat meat so we would order the veggie option and that would be fine. I was polite,said my please and thank yous. Firstly,I understand that not everywhere has great choices for vegetarians and I don’t expect anyone to bend over backwards for me. However,I don’t see the hassle in cooking a separate piece of steak for my partner that we would have paid for. Secondly, I don’t appreciate being spoken to the way that I was and why it was such a fuss made. After speaking with my friend,she also informed me that the same staff member had an attitude with her aswell. It’s played on me since Monday and I was not prepared to pay the £40 for the set sharing platter tonight as I was not looking forward to it at all,so we made the decision to cancel. I think it’s only fair that my friend is given her deposit back,as we haven’t really cancelled through fault of our own. It’s a shame,as this seems like a nice place with good food and it’s somewhere local. I haven’t written this for anyone to loose their job or get in trouble,but they certainly need to be spoken to so this doesn’t happen again. Thank you for your time

Went with friends, eight in total, and experienced an excellent carvery. The price was very reasonable and the choice of meats was more than adequate. Looking forwards to next visit.

Had a one night stay what a disappointment thought there was a continental breakfast but was not to be a tub of porridge oats fruit juice and a fruit the fire exit was blocked as it wasn’t working good job there wasn’t a fire there

Brillaint food,warm and welcoming atmosphere and great food. Customer service from Kelly was outstanding. Would defiantly recommend it for parties in the future

Such good service. We needed a doggie bag fir the meat we couldn’t finish! They were out of my choice of desert so they went to the trouble of hand making this beauty for me. Great girls can’t wait to go again. Don’t rate by the look of the room as it’s used for lots of different functions but who cares when the good was that good

Food was good and overall very good value for money. Staff did well to get all the food out at roughly the same time especially when you consider we were a party of 27 people.

Wow Happy days! We went back to the lodge yesterday and it’s back too amazing very Good portions of meat lots of roasted potatoes and all the vegetables you want to many choices if anything ! food nice and hot very tasty Ps we will be back most weekends & thank you for returning to what you do best

We were staying in the hotel and needed to eat before going to a concert in the town centre. The pub part of the establishment was packed out but we went through to the quieter restaurant area. The waiting staff were very efficient and friendly. The food was freshly cooked, including hand made chips! Comfort food, rather than high cuisine, tasty, filling and plenty of it.

Ate at the restaurant after a very wet afternoon. Food was very good and wholesome. French onion soup warmed the cockles of my heart. Was disappointed that the home made corn beef pie had sold out.

Wow where to start we drink here often but not had a meal here was told Sunday lunch was great what a understatement it was truly FANTASTIC you get more meat than a butchers shop everything fresh and home cooked so many choices of vegetables 3 options of potatoes as many Yorkshire puddings as you can eat and the gravy is just like Mam/wife/ partner makes it and all for £7.95

Lovely evening out for food with friends this evening at the brewers lodge, food was outstanding & all home made. Our waitress Kelly was a credit to the restaurant, what a pleasant, lovely & very polite waitress, couldn’t do enough for us all. Would highly recommend, looking forward to returning.

A lovely meal and even better service from our waitress Kelly. Highly recomend this lovely restaurant of your after great home cooked food and a lovely atmosphere. Great for children too....i have tried both their main menu and sunday lunch and both superb!!

Thank you Brewers lodge for making my granddaughters 1st Birthday a happy one. All the children enjoyed their meal and ice cream quickly followed by the adults meals ranging from Jacket Potato to a full mixed grill . These were cooked perfectly and enjoyed by all. We personally thanked the chef, whos name was Charlie. All waiting and bar staff were peasant, efficient and made us feel welcome. We didn't feel rushed when the party ended. I would definatly recommend a meal here, and will definitely be back. Thank you once again.

Very disappointed. Was told that the wait would only be 30-40 mins (as there was a party of 20 in) but took over an hour.

I just want to say how disappointed I am with this place.after booking for 24 of us for a family engagement.Our food took nearly 45 minutes to come out.(plus we already had to pre order our food .on booking we asked what time stop tap was,we was told 11pm so we arranged taxi for appropriate time.just after we finished our food I went to the bar at 10.35 (unaware that stop tap had changed) I then watched a young bartender serve what looked like a local man a pint. When I asked could I order a drink I was told no stop tap was 10.30.i went back to my family only to be rudely greeted by a non professional looking lady (who turned out to be the manager) to finish out drinks and and leave.i then explain to her that our taxi was booked just after 11 because we was told stop tap was 11pm. Her reply was not my problem you need to leave now .I can honestly say I have never experienced such poor customer service. they was very happy to take our money but not care about there customer service. They had no care that we had to wait outside for 25 minutes in the pouring rain as we was unable to change our taxi time. (Barring in mind this is people from 16 - 69)I myself have worked inhospitable for a number of years and never had such poor respect for customers.

First time had food here . Always popped in for a drink , but snow came down and fancied some hot food . Kids and both of us went for the carvery ; fantastic ! Didn’t skimp on the meat , selection of veg great and help yourself . Good atmosphere and lovely beer. Thanks

We have attended The Brewers Lodge many many times and the food is excellent.

Attended for 50th birthday celebration. Food and service ok. On leaving a local, Obviously pub regular was extremely abusive to one of our group. She had a person so issue with him but used vile language in front of young children, elderly relatives and females in the group. Staff did not even come outside to see what was going on when they must-have heard this female shouting and screaming abuse as others inside obviously did and were watching. Perhaps they didn't because she's a regular.

Food was beautiful. Had a cracking evening with the Elvis tribute too. Lovely and clean and staff were extremely friendly. Also the pubs cat was lovely.

A group of us went here for lunch before Christmas and the food was very good but we had to wait a long time for us all to be served and some of us had nearly finished the meal before the rest of the meals came out but It was the Sunday when we had all that snow so they were very short staffed and so didn't have the carvery running and they fetched out the plates ready made up. The food was delicious and I will definately go there again but I would prefer the carvery

Hubby phoned up Saturday 23/12 to book a table for 2 for Saturday night the boy said I'll go and ask came back and said yes that's ok for 7 pm. When we got there the place was buzzing waited to get a drink which...

Even for Blackwood this establishment is poor. The juke box is not usable, while the bar staff will only operate under the prders of a manager who does as he pleases, regardless of customers opinion. I was denied watching my programme as having phoned earlier...

Choose from a menu £5 upwards, also do Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price. Very friendly atmosphere

No comimos en el hotel, pero nos alojamos la noche. El personal era muy agradable, pero inexperto. Considerando lo que había, era cara a £70 por noche. Ya sé que suena barato, pero, en realidad, el bar ruidoso (y personas fuera del pub) era horrible....

19 de nosotros reservamos en el asador el domingo para el cumpleaños de mi esposo.

Fuimos a cenar con 14 amigos, mensualmente se estrenó una semana antes de la comida. 7:00 pm dijo reservado no podría servirnos de una vez por todas, 1 calle 13 comidas llegó por 7. Otros 35 Dos unos 8. 30 curry de pollo con patatas fritas grasa nadaron no estaban cocidos. Finalmente tuve mi carne en 8. 30 fichas primas todos nos quejamos dijeron que era jajaja finalmente ollas en 8. 50 tenía comida fresca con internacional jkt ollas una persona tenía nada no como internacional jkt ollas y no patatas a la izquierda. Absolutamente chocante, nunca más al menos 7 de 15 no pagar.

La comida en general es muy buena y el servicio está bien. Filetes bien. Encontrados parrilla inmensa. Hamburguesa de lujo muy agradable.

The food and drink here are all great value for money, unfortunately on my most recent visit, the barman served me an incorrect drink and when asking to have this rectified I was told "bars shut" No apology or attempt to rectify the error.

Always been able to pop up for a Takeout Sunday lunch which suits me as I work on Sunday and can just take it home to eat at my convenience, now all of a sudden you have to pre-book a takeaway!! REALLY!!! kind of defeats the object doesn't it, don't try to be all things to all people if you can't deliver on expectations, we have always patronised you but now you have gone way down in my expectations, good job Mcdonalds dont work on this business model or they would be out of business! YOU SUCK!!!!

went here as a family for Sunday lunch last Sunday was a bit chaotic at first trying to get to bar then had to queue for 20 mins for carvery .the carvery was very good and fresh never been given so much meat which was delicious. the only downside for us and that's why I only gave a 3 out of 5 was because in the eating area a cat was allowed to wander around which we didn't like

Stayed as a solo business traveller. Room was cheap. Management welcoming. Only this was the old room was above the bar with no sound insulation. There was lots of noise well past midnight. Didn't bother with food as other guest were 'trades' and the atmosphere intimidating. The bathroom was smelly, the Saniflow noisy and the shower did not work.

Local to us to thought would give it a go today for Sunday lunch. Found the staff efficient friendly & couldn't do enough for us. Food 1st class and plenty of it will defo visit again hopefully very soon .

Good choice of meats and plenty of it. Lots of different veg and lovely Yorkshire puds! Food and drink all reasonably priced and lovely staff.

We stayed here for one night as a last resource as we didn't want to spend hundreds of pounds. It cost us £70 for a night with breakfast, which frankly would be best to avoid. The hotel room was clean but rather cold. The room was dingy, the lino in the bathroom had dents and you felt like walking into a crater. The bed was uncomfortable and the whole place felt very rough and ready. The staff however were very nice and polite, just shame the place lets them down.

Stayed here with two other work mates for 4 nights as We were working in the area, on check in everything looked nice and clean and the manager was very welcoming . I then went up to my room to shower as I been working all day to find I had no shower in bathroom! The vinyl around the bathroom had big gaps around the toilet. I then went to bedroom to find every floorboard creaked , dirty marks on the walls and a rip in quit cover . On check in we asked instead of a full English which was part off the price of check in could we just have egg on toast and sausage and bacon sandwich to take away as 7 o'clock was a bit early for a full breakfast to which the manager said was fine , as arranged the next morning we had our take away sandwich and egg on toast , day two only sausage on our sandwich so when we asked why they said it was a mistake and it would be right the next morning to which we only had bacon on them! Evening food was also poor as I had BBQ chicken and bacon stack , the chicken was that tough it offered me outside to a fight !!! Night 3 I had surf and turf and asked for steak medium and when it come I struggled to cut it with steak knife it was that well done . Nyt 4 I bought a pot noodle from shop and it was spot on :) wouldn't recommend

The food came quickly, large helpings, was very tasty and enjoyable. My son had scampi and chips and I had the lasagne both were served with a side salad and peas.

Used to love the lodge. Since its been takeover its gone downhill fast. We went on no less than six occasions to eat and we've not managed to get a meal yet! Thought we'd keep popping in as the owners were new and wanted to give them a chance but still no luck.Different excuse each time as to why we can't be served. Went for a drink sunday, stood at the bar and waited. One owner wandered off outside for her cup of tea the other was too busy to bother playing pool to serve us.We just walked out in the end. Place is looking cluttered and shoddy these days. Not going back seing as I cant get food or service!

Very friendly hosts who would go out of they way to make our stay hospitable robbie and Jacqueline are the definition of true hoteliers the same time

Attended a family wedding 17/5/14, staff all brilliant could'nt do enough for you, table decorations were fab, good varity of buffet food, what a lovely venue.

Very good traditional Sunday lunch. Good choice of menu pleasant atmosphere.Good staff service. Also has a comfortable restaurant and a function room if required we visit regularly both with friends and family.

Only three of us there for lunch. Salmon and pork both were served with massive size sprouts and carrots, neither cooked. Strange veg to give with both dishes. Could not cut sprouts. Offered us free desserts, only one of us took up the offer so had free coffee. Have now been put off visiting place again!!

Enjoyed a great evening with friends..we had sea bass and our friends had a Thai curry , it was to a high standard. We all had deserts which were very nice. Good choice of of wines and beers. Good atmosphere friendly staff..they also had a nice big park for the children.

We started with a few beers before lunch was served.We then had our starters. I went for the chicken liver pate and her in doors went for the Brie. Both very tasty.I ordered the suckling pig while the lady ordered beef. Plenty of meat on the plate with good helpings of veg served separately. Very good food.Were we going to manage a desert? Sure thing. I went for the ice cream and her in doors went for the cheese cake. Lush!After our meal we sat to watch the rugby on the large screen while consuming some light refreshments.A great atmosphere. A good afternoon. Try the lodge. You will not be disappointed.

Have visited this venue previously with no problems but on this particular Wednesday something went seriously wrong, an hour and threequarter wait for a steak, its not on and others in our party waited for over an hour, no explanation and the staff were clueless, rubbish and will never visit again

We had a few beers, or wine, lagers or soft drinks before our meal while socialising in the bar.Brains bitter was my choice. A good pint of beer. Carling lager also recommended along with the wines and soft drinks.Sat down for our meal which was excellent!I wish I had chosen the king prawns and mussels as my starter. They looked lush. I was told they were gorgeous. My good lady and myself opted for the salad bar which was very nice. Never mind. There will be a next time for sure.My many thanks go to Dave for his hospitality.Many thanks to the owners, namely, Tony and Jane for a great evening.Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.See you soon.
