Friendly staff and locals,enjoy playing snooker upstairs at £3 an hr very reasonably priced.

Food is OK could have done with more choice. Very busy and over crowded and slow service

Went for Sunday carvery, it was okay but wouldn't go again I've had better and much worse but definitely didn't feel it was a family treat. Quite busy so some people obviously like it, staff are friendly enough and was clean and tidy

Very accommodating. We got there late afternoon, kitchen had just closed, but landlady made us some delicious small plates at a very reasonable price. Drinks were fine, a good selection too. Couldn't ask for more.

Booked a table for 5 people at 2pm for Mother’s Day, we arrived to a table in the bar area with a telly blaring music and kids running around. We asked to move into the restaurant area which fair play to them they moved us. Had our complimentary drinks served and got sat at our table. Waited about 10 minutes before asking for someone to take our starters order… The starter - honestly I’ve never seen anything like it, I ordered a prawn cocktail as well as my step father, we were told it wasn’t served with bread (have attached what I had for reference, this was literally how it was served), mine came in a champagne glass, no bread or anything, but my step father had bread and butter served with his. It’s all good and well saying “oh well you should’ve told us so we could’ve rectified this”, yeah fair enough but being a waitress previously I would’ve been horrified serving someone what I was given. Everyone else enjoyed their starters, only ate mine because I was starving. The main and dessert I can’t really complain about, other than the gravy was very salty. Staff were very friendly couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely wasn’t worth the £25pp that we paid, probably won’t be back due to the quality of the food.

Bar staff amazing sue the bar maid is amazing sweet and really chatty made us feel very welcome , Shea smashing cook as well enjoyed our meals. Affordable and a lovely place. Lots friendly locals to. A must visit place. Again thank you Sue. X

Great drinks and nice and friendly

Had previously visited for Sunday lunch with my elderly parents, both hard of hearing and approaching they're 90s. The 1st time we visited it was your Sunday lunch brought to your table & served by the waitress. Upon the visit the landlady lisa looked as though she needed a good wash, poor hygiene greasy hair not what u would expect in a food establishment. Swearing in front of customers her mouth and manners are absolutely disgusting, I felt quite embarrassed to be sat there hearing this but due to them.being hard of hearing I don't think they caught what she was talking about. She swans around bossing people and I could hear was her talking so loud it really wasn't a relaxed afternoon. We decided to give it a try the 2nd time walked in said we had booked was orderd to sit ,at a table that hasn't been cleaned. Requested the table to be cleaned, sat there for approx 20 mins unknown to us that we just go up as now it's a carvery , we walked to get our lunch Lisa was so rude serving as she served my parents she told them to.hurry up as my dad was unsure what meat he wanted he's nearly 90 with dementia, she was rude and vile hurried them along and said come on I want to go down my caravan today hurry up. No.mash potatoes, food like warm 1.slab meat absolutely disgusting, sat at the table asked waitress could we order drinks was told order at bar i had to leave my food que for.10 mins as boy behind bar was talking seen me in the que mind, my food my freezing. Within 10 minutes had waitresses saying have u finished we said no,they kept coming over in the end insoad yes I've finished, unknown they swiped my dads plate without him finishing his meal. Asked the desert menu was told cheesecake asked was there anything else was told no.just want empty the pub I want go down.my van. Very reluctant I paid the bill will.never ever visit again. Landlady is a vile foul-mouthed women who had no respect for the elderly. I will also be taking this further as I think k.its disgusting how we were treated and when u go out 4 lunch u don't expect to.be treated like this. Place looks rundown and in need of new management.

Had afternoon tea with my mother in law for her 40th birthday, was lovely one of the best iv had and only 9.99 each can't wait to cone back the cakes are insane

Thought that I would treat my friend to afternoon tea&spoil her for the day, I contacted the landlady Lisa - To Book,Arrange a date/time&I secured my booking with deposit. But I was rudely woken up at 1.30am the night before we we're due to go, by a msg,"Going to cancel as I am not well,I can have refund or re-book with free prosecco". I Asked for a refund so I sent her bank details BUT I got fobbed off, for the best part of the day with she's ill, She had toothache , Blah blah blah... So I offered to go down to collect it from Pub, I was then told not to speak to her like that & was called abusive & if I was that hard up for my £10 deposit to go&to the pub to get my deposit!!!!! I replied " That I most certainly was not abusive, I was just expressing my views & opinions about her being incompetent, along with her being unprofessional". (That's without mentioning Lisa's real bad rude attitude problem & lack of people skills) Eventually she got her husband to send me my deposit, Which I did receive with many thanks I also said that I would be making a complaint with her boss & also would be writing a glowing review on trip advisor, because its only the truth&the public deserve to know!!! I was then told not to go back to the beech tree due to me being rude&abusive!!!!!! Baring in mind that I didn't even make it to The Beech Tree Door, Let alone afternoon tea.. What an absolute Joke!!! Re-book with An up-grade with Prosecco, still wouldn't be enough to compensate me & neither would Champagne!!! I can't comment about the afternoon tea but my dealings & Communication with LISA EVANS was absolutely disgusting. I would have loved to have taken you up with your last offer of an upgrade to redeem yourself & give you another chance to prove to me but I'm going to have to decline, as The landlady Lisa has totally turned me off The afternoon tea or ever stepping into the The Beech Tree.

Never again - worst place ever. Went there for a drink and the thatchers was like squash, no life in it and it was watered down. The madri stunk and tasted disgusting. The landlord was eating a takeaway with his hands then serving drinks, where is the hygiene and the lady was picking her nose and eating it. So disgusting. Would never go there again even if it was free

Nice food, awful service and attitude from the floor staff and overall it brought down the atmosphere. The negative effects of the surrounding environment really didn’t make it family friendly or just anything of entertaining. We booked a table in advance only to see that it was taken. Once again, the food was great but the fact we had to put 2 orders of 5 servings when they could have taken our order in just one go really did prove sloppy craftsmanship in catering. The toilets were just as sad looking as the staff, toilet paper strewn everywhere wherever you turned, it looked genuinely depressing. My grandmother and grandfather nearly fell a few times due to the consistent flooding and soggy paper whilst my 10 year old cousin slipped TWICE. Anything you eat here is met with poor plating and presentation when given to the customers. The staff were just as disgusting as the toilets. Anything you rate the beech inn from one star to a five, it’ll be nothing short of a miracle.

Absolutely awful. We were a family of 10 who had booked for Christmas day to be told on arrival that our table wasn't ready. Then told we can't keep places we have to take whoever comes in although we had paid a £120 deposit.The way I was spoken to was shocking and my children were discussed. The lady/person running the place had no manners and appeared drunk serving us.the premises were filthy dirty floors were slippery and the toilets were flooded. I wish I had an opportunity to thank the chef though as if the place had any proper management the food would be lovely. We will never step foot inside the place again

First time at the beech tree and the meals were disgusting and unhygienic. Some meals didn't even arrive at the table and the staff were disrespectful and unhygienic with the cutlery. Family's were separated from one another due to the staff letting people sit on there booked seats. Booked a full table of 10 people and they told us they had let people sit on our table even though we had booked that table in advance. One member of staff was shouting and causing a scene for no reason when we asked for drinks and were our table was as someone was sitting in our booked seats. Would not recommend at all!!

Unfortunately it wasn't great. Most of the lights were off, just a couple over the bar area. The rest of the pub was in near darkness. I can understand that the costs of running a pub must be high af present, but I heard a staff member say they were freezing! With a group of people all huddled together in their coats, the yelling over the music was too much. I couldn't stay there all evening as originally planned. Hoping things will improve in the new year.

Went here for a family drink. We were ordered from the one area (as it was a special event night) I think it was the landlady that spoke to us, she was at best abrupt, at worst rude. The place needed a damn good clean - particularly the toilets. As a result, I wouldn't entertain eating here.

Just had to write a review. Just had a sunday lunch with kinda bueno cheesecake for dessert. The best homecooked roast i have ever eaten. Congratulations to the chef. One well impressed person here

We'd heard this was the place to go for cocktails.....how wrong can you be! If you like a large glass of alcohol to get drunk quick this could be for you. For those of you who like the more traditional Espresso Martini, Pina Colada or Pornstar Martini etc then avoid.............. In addition the toilets were absolutely disgusting.

Worst pint I have ever tasted, lots flouting in the lager not good. Minim card payment of £5 is shocking as well only wanted 1 drink. Defiantly won’t be returning.

Visited this little gem of a pub over jubilee weekend. What can i say great vibe, plenty of entertainment and great vibe. The owner/landlady young girl with dark hair was so friendly and accommodating , great banter and funny. My new go to place for a quiet drink after work. Keep up the great work ladies

Booked a table for three people - spoke with Lisa and queried if they are able to cater for vegetarians which I was assured was 'fine'. We got there and looks exchanged between the staff told us they weren't aware of the booking - complete with eye roll from the barman. After that good start someone (a dark haired lady) came over to take our order. We asked about the vegetarian options only to be told they don't have any stock as they're made to order in advance. I had already asked in advance if that was okay and was not prompted to place a pre order. In fact the woman was quite rude and didn't even check if there was anything for us. A table of ten had come at the same time and my feeling was we were an inconvenience. Won't be returning or recommending to others. Definitely not somewhere to drop in as a warm welcome will not await.

Lisa the person behind the bar was completely rude, no manners at all. hiding drinks under the bar and drinking them. Absolutely disgusting. Will never step foot in there again. The vile language on them screaming and swearing. The pub has gone massively downhill !

Sadly a place much declined from its glory years, however with the brand new management, friendly staff and loyal regulars, its now on the up. Will be looking forward to see the changes in the future. Hopefully will be back to its former glory in no time. Edit. Having been back to visit, the Beech Tree has undergone some major renovation. Now it is a bright, clean, family friendly pub. The party area in the conservatory hosts wedding parties and a new decked outside area is ideal for the warm summer nights.

Great service and lovely food. Inexpensive and delivered in a timely manner.

Food was burnt which at least added flavour, really disappointed, we went for a family meal but won't be having another meal there, sorry but there is much better locally and better priced. They may have been having an off day as we all do but I cannot accept that as an excuse.

Both myself and my sister's family decided to do Christmas a little different this year and go out for our dinner, we chose the Beech Tree given it was local, we have never heard of any bad reviews and if we wanted we could all walk there and back. We called and reserved the table. We later found out the chef had left but this wouldn't be an issue but would be amending the menu and getting this out to us. We eventually got a menu but there were errors in it. After my sister speaking to the Chef, she was reassured everything would be OK. Not even the Land lady was able to reassure us, giving that everything we knew to date was because we chased for this information. Her exact words were "I'm the owner, well me and my husband so if you have any problems you can speak to him"! Against our better judgement we didn't cancel, we turned up at 12:30 Christmas day, ready to be seated, just to stand at the bar for 20 minutes and then watch the waitress dress a table!! My husband asked the bar lady, why are we waiting? We have reservation and she shrugged her shoulders and walked off. We eventually managed to get seated, by this time were all annoyed at the wait. The main course was amazing, I can't deny that, everything else was just OK. The plates were left on the tables for far too long, I think main course was left there for over 30 mins after we we're done. All in all our experience has been awful from start to finish, we paid over £300 to spend our Christmas day there, you would have got a better service for far less anywhere else. Will absolutely most definitely not be returning.

Poor service. My family or I will not be returning. After booking and paying the deposit, I was advised I'd recieve an email with our Christmas day menu. I'm still waiting! My brother in law managed to get hold of a menu which did not come without errors! So poor was the menu I needed to call to work out what was actually being offered. To my surprise THE OWNER could not confirm and got the chef to call me. This did not settle me well for the service ahead and had serious reservations and considered cancelling. I gave them the benefit of doubt and went ahead with the booking, however, My dissatisfaction did not end there. Upon arrival Christmas day, we were met with a 20min delay. Mortified, we watched the staff dress a table for us. While there were several tables already dressed and ready but not a party if 7 who had pre booked weeks earlier?! After being ignored the first time I asked why, only to be fed the excuse of not knowing if they were going to be open! This resulted in 7 of us squished on a table built for 6!! Food finally arrived, which there was little complaint but was nothing more than mediocre. Dishes were left on out table for over 30mins and after 2.5 hours was still waiting for dessert! Which we eventually asked to be boxed up to take home, we forfeited our cheese board as the wait was not worth it. Poor management all round! Staff were lovely and friendly but were also complaining of their service. I should've cancelled and lost out on the deposit instead of wasting over £300 on a service that my 12 year old daughter could've pulled off better.

Went there last night for wife's 40th birthday. Terrible meals. Rude chef, totally unprofessional. Felt sorry for the waitress and the owner. Overcharged as menu prices were wrong. Very disappointed.

Publican very happy and helpful. Food was OK but they are just starting up so it will improve because of the enthusiasm the cook has.

Rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Allison was such a welcoming host. I will definitely be staying again.

We held a party at this venue we have to say we was very disappointed with the service and the food the portion size was for a child at adlut prices, the attitude of the new manager was awful to guests and her staff, the manager accused guests of not paying for their meals when they were already paid for not the rite attitude to have with a business like this would not be coming here again.

Fab Sunday lunch, three courses £12.95. It was lovely 😊 beef was amazing. There's a little play area round the side for kids, and my boy had a colouring book to keep him entertained.

Went down to celebrate a 21st birthday. No music was playing. At 9:30. The landlady approached a few of us and asked us to keep the noise down. We were all having a good time and laughing. First time ive been to the Beech tree since the new owners have taking over. I was with my son celebrating his 21st birthday. It was 9.30 and the landlady approached my son and asked him to ask his family and friends to be quiet as they were laughing to loud ! If they can't come to their local pub to socialise and have a good laugh without being told off by the landlady! what's the point in going out, won't be visiting this place again!! Disgsraceful!! Ruining a young mans birthday!!

Landlady was very rude, she clearly don't like people enjoying themselves, you go to the pub to have fun and socially with family and friends, this was a problem for the Landlady. Never again will I go to this pub , thank god for the pub down the road, where the Atmosphere was a lot better .

Good food and good choice menu and reasonably priced : staff nice friendly . place a bit shabby ! Fairly quiet on the day so service was quick . All in all a good place would go again

Called in for last minute bite to eat. Nice welcome from staff and prompt service. Couple of pints of very reasonably priced Morrettis! Meals were freshly cooked and of a very high standard , thoroughly enjoyed our visit !

A visit to this pub left me with a parking fine of over £100.I was not made aware on this rainy dark evening of the need to register my parking.A very expensive beer with no support of any use from the landlady to prevent the legal mugging.Beware !

Ignore the old reviews of this pub as it has changed management. My mother and her partner have just had a great meal, plenty of it and reasonably priced as well as some great music from a singer/guitarist. Well recommended.

Don't go there very often, but every time we do it's always lovely, food is nice and so are the staff :)

Went here for afternoon tea for my wife and mixed grills for myself and my son. The food was SUPERB! Grills were perfectly cooked and the tea was rated as brilliant by my wife.

I had afternoon tea here with a large group, we sat in the conservatory which was pleasant. We were served tea and coffee when we sat down, with the option of a glass of prosecco or soft drink also. Food was then brought out and there was plenty of it. Lovely fresh selection of sandwiches, including ham, cheese, egg etc and a big choice of cakes, including carrot cake, battenburg, fruit tartlets, welshcakes, muffins, scones and chocolate mousses, to name a few. Staff were fab, nothing was too much trouble and we were very well looked after. We all enjoyed our afternoon here and I would definitely recommend this place to others.

I had a lovely 3 course Sunday dinner on Mother’s Day. Food and service was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The lamb dinner was particularly tasty.

Went here today and have to say the food was lovely, only had a jacket potato with Tuna but it was really big and quite filling. Lovely side salad with delicious coleslaw. The only reason I am not giving it 5 is the overly nice waitresses we had. Strange I am having a moan about politeness but being too polite can be a little irritating especially when they come to your table every 10 mins asking if all ok and trying to sell on deserts etc. I think they asked 6 times if all ok and anything else they can get for us. For some reason it was always 2 at a time like they were joined at the hip! The constant interruptions were a tad irritating.

This is an ideal small Hotel/Restaurant and Public House to hold many types of Group Celebrations. Weddings, Birthdays, Retirements, Engagements. The Manager Adel, is a very helpful and accommodating host.

Went here after a christening. The buffet that was out out was literally the best spread I've ever had! It was incredible!

Pub has been under new ownership and management for almost a year now. Menu, food, drinks, service and atmoshphere has improved. Basic pub menu but good quality food. can get quite rowdy on weekends

For a special occasion we went to the Beech Tree, Ystrad Mynach.

It's OK. Nice afternoon tea at a reasonable price.

1st off they do take card payments! Minimum spebd £5. £3 a pint so quite easy to meet that. Went as a large group and they asked us to pre-order our food, which we did. Despite this the food still came out slowly and at best mediocre. From the first person served a main course it was a further 30 minutes until the last person was served. A couple of the group had issues with their food and to be fair, they were not charged for the elements they were unhappy with. The live entertainment was a very good duet singing a range of songs. The bar staff were exceptionally accommodating and friendly... probably would have given two stars if not for the bar service.

Terrible service unless your on drugs. Lots of young lads there waiting for their pick up drugs. Foos bad. Landlady there for young men pick ups . Not good

Very friendly, fantastic food, great host. Thankyou for helping us have a wonderful baby shower, I would recommend the Beech Tree hotel to everyone! 💗💗
