The Bumble Bee in Caerphilly

Met up with some friends for a well overdue catch up and we couldn’t have had a better time! We were very well looked after by the all staff and the food was spot on especially my sirloin steak -cooked to perfection, lovely atmosphere and couldn’t ask for more.

Out shopping with the family thought I would pop in and give this pub a try definitely wasn't disappointed the food was spot on and the service was amazing nothing was too much trouble

Not as good as usual. Very dry, overcooked fish and chips. Uneatable. Not member of staff came to check if meal was OK. Would have mentioned hoe disappointed i wasas we left but no staff near bar area as we left.

Great service, polite staff, food came out quiet quick, was large portion size and hot, could think of a better start to Easter Sunday. Will definitely come back again, would recommend to give this place a go

We was seated really quickly, staff were really friendly. Came in and ordered our sunday roasts, food came out fairly quickly. I had turkey and my brother had beef, both meals was really nice and fresh. Will definitely come again!

Went with my family for a birthday meal and the atmosphere was so welcoming, all staff was very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us, the food was delicious and affordable, can’t wait to come back again

Following my previous review in February, my family and I returned for dinner to ascertain if our previous experience had been a one off. Based on last night, we were glad we had, as the food was significantly better than our previous experience. If the standard received last night is reflective of their normal delivery, then I would thoroughly recommend as we had an excellent experience all round.

I have to give praise where its due. After having a bad visit here around 9 months ago, we tried the restaurant again. The new look inside was really nice. There was no long wait at the var to be served and ordered the fish and chips. The fish was huge and very filling. We will return. Well done

Visited for a spot of lunch pub was lovely and clean staff were friendly and the food was hot and plentiful I had the cowboy burger which really tasty and my daughter had the fish which was very tasty would recommend anyone to try this pub

Had to admit I was feeling nervous because the Bumblebee hasn't coped with big occasions very well in the past. All 8 of us booked for Mothers' Day. A very slight delay waiting for our table but things ran very smoothly after that. There seemed to be several sittings so that the place wasn't over crowded and staff handled the occasion well. Food has certainly improved since the refurbishment. We ordered from the Mothers' Day menu. There was a good choice. Food was fresh and hot.

Great pub with a fantastic group of staff that were extremely helpful and polite , the landlord Dave was chatty and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Great find while we were out and about ❤️

Lovely food at a reasonable price. The manager Dave is a friendly and fun character and very welcoming as are his team. Pub looks superb after the refurbishment and will be back soon!

Popped in for a quick coffee after shopping. Becca was very friendly and professional. Atmosphere was great to sit and relax with a cappuccino.

This pub is one of the best i have ever been to for customer service, every single person working there was extremely pleasant and the gentleman serving us, Dave, was exceptional! So friendly and welcoming! Food came quickly and was all lovely, the only fault i could give this restaurant is the lack of vegetarian meals (im super fussy so i understand thats a me issue not liking the ones available). My boyfriend and nan (meat eaters) both thoroughly enjoyed their meals and desserts! Would recommend thoroughly if you’re not veggie or not a fussy veggie at least.

Beautiful food, very busy place but all staff were welcoming

First time here in a long time and service hasn't changed took almost an hour for food to be brought to the table after ordering to have the beef lasagne burnt to a crisp with absolute no life/taste in it only the charred inside of an overcooked meal adults burger and chips was fit for just a child the size of the burger was the smallest I've ever seen and the burger was cold and the hunters chicken was served on a huge plate not fit for purpose because there was hardly any food on the plate service was slow and not busy in there at all so overall 1 burnt lasagne 1 cold burger and 1 small meal served on a large plate can say this won't be going for food here again.

All staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent, we were a table of 5 and all food came out together even though they were busy.

Food and service is top class,prices are reasonable and the staff are always keen to help with slight changes of diet for myself being gluten free. Love the place.

Awful food, dry chicken, shrivelled bacon, no cheese on the hunters chicken, chips ok, the meal was edible but not great, won’t be returning soon, also it took over an hour to be served to us after ordering

Visited for son’s birthday. Acknowledging it was Valentines Day, we arrived for 6pm to avoid any potential rush. The pub was quiet on arrival and we ordered food in good time. Unfortunately the food was served an hour later and my sons mixed grill was significantly over cooked. All aspects of it, but in particular the steak which was black, hard and very dry. (Medium rare ordered). Garlic bread arrived at end of meal, after we chased up. The pub itself is lovely, and can’t fault the staff and their friendliness. For drinks would recommend. Acknowledging it was valentines we had ordered 4 curries, which for curry night, should’ve been easy to serve and not an hour later. Whether staffing is an issue, I’m not sure, but only saw 1 person taking food out to tables.

This has become quite the regular Thursday spot for me and my partner! Very good value, lovely staff, lovely cosy atmosphere. We were planning to try a few other places as we're fairly new to the area... but why roll the dice when you've already got a 12? The only thing is that it could possibly do with a few more parking spaces - I'm not sure if you're supposed to use the retail park carpark next door? But I have been, and no problems yet, touch wood! And if you are allowed to use it, happy days, plenty of parking too!

So organised and clean! Staff friendly and very good at their jobs. Food was gorgeous! Easy to see why it's busy every day. We will definitely return. Child friendly as well. Highly recommended! And thanks to Phil for helping us have a lovely afternoon 😊 10/10

Great fresh food, lovely new decor, clean with wonderful staff.

Forget Andrew Tate! Dave at the Bumble Bee is the real Top G!! What a host and what a guy, so welcoming from the get go! Made us all feel very comfortable and went above and beyond! One of my friends is autisic and requires someone to call out his name 3 times fast roughly every 15 minutes (strange I know), and most places get funny with this and ask us to leave, but not Top G Dave and the team at the Bumble Bee!! Once we explained the situation to Dave he set a timer on his phone and was calling out Julian 3 times fast every 15 minutes on cue!! Food was amazing and enjoyed by all even our austic friend (very fussy doesn't even like mayonnaise!) and all food and drink was a reasonable price too! Everyone go visit the real Top G!

Small number of Staff were lovely but steak was awful.. mine was mostly gristle thankfully the chips and salad were good otherwise I would have asked for a refund.. steak is a key item in a restaurant and badly cooked . Poor quality steak is guaranteed to lose you customers.. people will pay for good food.. just look at Miller and Carter..they are booked out every night.. and they are expensive..

The food is always excellent, very tasty and really hot. The staff are always friendly, polite and very helpful. On our visit Meg, Dave, Kieron and Keanu were all excellent. Cannot fault the Bumble Bee

Wait time for food was ridiculous, table booked for 6.30 until 8pm but food didn’t come until 8.10pm. No pre warning of the wait. Place wasn’t quiet but not busy either. No complaints about the meals once they arrived though.

Waited 2hrs for our food to come evwrybody was waiting a long time for there seems to be very understaffed

Disgusting 1 hour and 40 minute wait food had to be sent back as was over cooked and the customer service wasn't much better will NOT recommend or return

Booked a table earlier this week, friendly welcome from staff. Even though they were very busy, food was on time, hot and tasty.

In my last review along with much improved and more stars I stated.... Odd that you cant have the larger mixed grill, but you can have the small one, (2 occasions), not sure how that works! Need to sort out the stock glitches still as well as the sometimes glitchy app. Jan 24 visit Sliding a bit, place needs a better cleaning regime for tables chairs and floor, no one wants to step on the previous occupants debris. They need to sort the menu out and offer what they can supply. Went to the Otter last week (sister pub) same thing with the mega mixed grill...ludicrous.

What can we say, a visit to the Bumble Bee with the family. Very friendly manager and staff, with a good atmosphere. After going to a number of restaurants in the Blackwood area can safely say this was one of the best meals we have had and excellent value for money. When your father says its good you know its good. Well done to the chef and staff, see you soon

Since the refurbishment this place is unrecognisable and I don’t just mean the inside. Gone and the days were staff made you feel like you were an inconvenience when you walked through the door. The staff care about the standard of work they do, they are professional yet friendly. You can tell a whole new kitchen team has been brought in, food is consistently good now

Had the curry deal this Wednesday, it was all just thrown on one plate and the madras & massala were very bland 😔 very disappointing!!

Steak was like chewing gum. Couldn't cut it never mind eat it. No scampi with the surf and turf, it arrived half way through the meal. Waited 10 minutes for cutlery. No sauces with the meal. Starters came without the dipping sauces, no garnish and severed in cereal bowls! Almost £6 for a glass of wine!

Cracking food, best version of hunters chicken that I have ever had! Southern fried hunters chicken is well tasty. Service was good and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

The pub itself is really nice. Beautifully refurbished last year to high standard. However our meal there last night was not very good. The pub was not really busy, there were loads of used tables with lots of glasses and empty dishes left on them. It took an hour for us to receive out meal, and when they arrived 3 of the 4 meals ordered were wrong or had components of the meal missing. Some meals/desserts we wanted originally we were told had sold out and then we were told by a member of staff that some meals are kept aside to last out the wkend?? So not actually sold out then!! The womens toilets had toilet roll all over the floor and in the cubicle, I actually picked up some of rhe paper myself. Will be back for drinks in the summer when we can sit outside but will not be returning for a meal at all.

Absolutely brilliant experience, food was amazing and didnt take too long, they catered really well for the disabled guest we had with us ensuring we was in a quieter area. Will deffo be coming back. Thank you 😊

Had a beef dinner. Food was freezing cold. Yorkshire pudding put on top with hardly any gravy over the whole dinner. Asked for more gravy which again was stone cold. Boyfriends meal was also incorrect. But the Sunday dinner was horrendous. Never ever will I be returning

Amazing food and excellent service - very clean inside also ! However confusion on menu as gammon stated it comes with onion rings but it didn’t.

Dave was under pressure but more than made up a very short wait by giving excellent service and food. All of the staff were very friendly. Dogs also had a warm welcome

Sunday lunch roast dinner is highly recommended. Very good quality food , tasty and good portion sizes . Despite a 45 minute delay from ordering to serving our meals, it was well worth waiting for.

Me and my partner went to the bumble bee on Saturday and couldn’t be more disappointed, we had 1hr wait for food and once the food arrived the presentation and taste of the food was terrible, the worst part is there was hair on my plate which I didn’t realise until I’d pretty much finished my meal, I will not be returning

Despite a tricky start (no record of our booking even though we had confirmation on our phone) and the possibility of not being able to eat, we were finally given tables. The food was actually very good and served fairly promptly. Well done the kitchen!...

The bar staff were very welcoming, we were told there was a 40 min wait for food which was ok for us as we were not in a rush (but appreciated being informed). The bar and restaurant area was lovely and clean. The food was good quality for a pub meal, overall a good experience (improvement on the last time we ate there which was over a year ago)

"Food poor" Hunter's chicken- really wanted mixed grill not available. items missing on menu, no Straw's for children drinks not to hard just to get the basics right, come on guy's it was a special day out for the family. Prepared to fail, 😔 will not be back

Food was absolutely top notch, probably the best meal my friend and I have ever had. We both had burger & fries, then I had sherry trifle cheesecake, and my friend had sticky toffee pudding and custard. All absolutely delicious! The only thing that marred our experience was the lack of staff which meant service was slow. I'm not blaming them in the least - they were rushed off their feet but remained calm and professional throughout. With only two taking all drink and food orders, plus showing people to their tables, plus one extra person who was bringing food out, I think the owners need to reevaluate whatever staffing policy they have in place, because they will end up losing both custom and good staff if they don't

Great evening with friends. Large group, but the staff managed to get all our meals out together. Food was good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Genuinely impressed by the improvements.

The festive food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I did feel that there should have been more of them but that is no fault of theirs and I won't mark them down because of it.

The steak and onion rings were very tough and could not cut them because of that. The service was very very poor, nobody cleared our plates and they were still on our table when we left. Nobody came and asked us if we wanted dessert. It was unacceptable and very expensive and the worst meals we have ever had. WILL NOT come back.

Our vist started with a warming welcome at the front door,servie was outstanding and the food was excellent even with the wait on that we were informed about due to it being busy at Christmas time overall a lovely experience ill definitely be coming back

There were 3 of us in the party and 2 of us had the Christmas menu and had a vegan choice. All of our meals were absolutely delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

We went for some food for my daughters birthday, she is coeliac so upon arrival we asked for a gluten free menu which was provided (not told to download app or go to a website, which drives me crazy). Food was really good, my daughter enjoyed her gluten free selection and dessert. We will definitely go again.
