Fantastic service, superb staff and delicious food

Staff are the friendliest around. Hard workers keeping the establishment super clean and serving customers as fast as possible quality is what comes to mind when visiting the Bumblebee. Shout out to the staff who's efforts aren't unnoticed and appreciated for making this a fine place to dine and relax.

The restaurant was very busy with 2 birthday parties and all tables were full, we had to wait for a table, queue about 15 mins to get served then wait 45 mins for food. Fortunately they had a well stocked kids area with colouring and books which is a nice idea. There were lots of tables that needed clearing. The food was pretty good although our steaks were abit too well done. What made it bearable though was Dave who I think was a manager. At one point he was the only person working in the restaurant, serving at the bar, seating people and clearing tables all at once all with a friendly smile. He had a laugh and joke with the customers, and kept checking on us and apologising for the wait. He needs a medal and some more staff!!

The food got send back a few times and they didn’t listen to the us, we waited over a hour and 15 minutes for our food and the staff we quite rude (rolling their eyes and not answering) the food and drink was so expensive and wasn’t worth it. My grandfather has the pie and it was a microwave one and was like a mess. The chicken burger was full of grease and was rock hard so sent it back and came out like it again! My uncle has the mixed grill and asked for the steak to be medium and it came with all blood on the plate so sent that back as he wasn’t happy at all!!! The apple pie was cold when asked for it warm and ordered the brownie and they gave us the chocolate fudge cake and was like a rock. The sticky toffee pudding didn’t taste of anything. We spent nearly £300 and it was not worth it at all. Wasn’t happy at all with my experience and was such a let down for my aunties 40th birthday meal! Never go again !!!

Had a lovely evening at the bumblebee Blackwood. Food was very tasty, especially the steak 🥩 on my partners mixed grill 😋 staff were very friendly even with all the stress they are clearly under staffed. Can’t wait to come back

Amazing food had gammon egg and chips with wings to start. friendly staff nothing is too much trouble. I would say the best marstons in the area. Will be back for definite and will recommend.

Lovely place to relax and unwind whether it's for food or drink. Staff are cheerful and a great all round laugh.

Had our Christmas get together at the Bumblebee last night !!!! We all had a great time with great staff. Dave was great, as was the service. Good value for money, we will be back. Thank you

Very busy, food very nice. Waited a bit longer than usual for food but worth it

Been here s few times before and always enjoyed our meal. However this time we were very disappointed. We were told our food would be ready in 30 mins but we waited 1 hour and 10 mins for our food to arrive. Kids were very hungry and restless. It wasn't busy, plenty of free tables. When the food arrived it wasn't good. The vegetable thai curry consisted of 4 mouthfuls of curry (tasted ok, but could have eaten 3 times the amount) and a dollop of rice. The ribs and chicken platter was tasteless with no garnish as advertised. Kids tomato pasta was only a few mouthfuls (much smaller portion than previous visit) and cold cooked floppy carrot sticks. We had no acknowledgement from staff after we had told them we weren't happy with our meals. A real shame.

Went straight to the bar ordered drinks and asked for table..there were loads of empty tables. Evenly got allocated a table..we ordered food whilst at the bar. Waited nearly an hour for food, whilst waiting saw one gentleman return his food. After 45 mins I went to the bar to enquire about our order. Barman checked and said they are just dishing it up. 10mins later asked another staff member about our order. When it eventually came we were so disappointed. Both ordered surf and turf with medium cooked steak. It was a grisly piece of paper steak and it was so difficult cut. It was literally raw in the middle and we had blood then spoil the rest of the food on the plate. Heard another lady enquiring about her order as she had waited an hour and a half. It wasn't busy busy so I don't understand the hold up. When the waitress came to collect the dishes she asked if the meal was ok. We told her how disappointed we were. She spoke to manager who refunded us for the steak. Not in a rush to go back, shame as it is local.

30/01 20:00 5* for the manager - he was on his own but provided excellent service, especially considering how busy it was because of a panto on in Blackwood. Compare this to the carnage that was the Sirhowy (that's why we came here) - he's a credit to Marstons, really impressed. Now Marstons can you step up and give him some backup please! Food was fine, difficult to judge atmosphere...

Really good food but unfortunately so many tables not cleared for the whole time we were there. Not enough staff

My first impression was how pleasant and refreshed the premises was, as the last time I visited (over 2 years ago) it was looking tired, worn and dilapidated. The new revamped premises was fresh, vibrant and welcoming. I ordered coffee and a meal and service at the bar was a somewhat slow initially, as the Deputy Manager who was staffing that area was clearly attending to other duties, but was friendly and pleasant to my queries. However, whilst the meal was nice, it was lacking in portion size and I would say it was quite small considering (hunters chicken dish). A vast improvement on the old premises and this was a plesant, welcoming visit.

The first time I've been to The Bumblebee & had to write a bad review. We ordered our food at 2.30pm & sat down with our drinks expecting to have our food brought to our table about 20-25 mins later but we had to go to the bar 'twice' to ask when our food was going to be served. The first time of going to the bar was after waiting for 30 minutes & the second time after 45 minutes! Not happy with the service & although the waitress apologised, we should've been offered a refund or free drink atleast! The food was nice but I have had better service & food in The Otter which is only 4-5 miles away in Newbridge. I would recommend going to The Otter as I won't be going to The Bumblebee again. 4/10.

Good food well cooked and nicely presented. Waitress was a little uncertain whos' steak was who's though my brother and i ordered different prep so we had to guess. Bonus that they accepted my bluelight cars 20% discount. Would recommend

Edit: even more disappointed to have been asked to reply via email and had no response. Repeat customer, wad very disappointed this visit. Ordered via the table app; breaded mushrooms were unfortunately soggy with oil, not just mushroom juice. Cheddar, potatoe and leek pie had large chunk of cold potato in center. Also as a side note, the pie was listed as "vegetarian " and came served with a delicious beef gravy. This was clear on the menu, just found it odd! Still ate the food, as had already paid via the app, but was overall disappointed, and left feeling queasy from the oiled starter.

Lovely meal with very pleasant staff and served quickly

Always have had good food and brilliant service every time we've been here. Dog friendly, with a nice dog area, dog treats, water bowls and even a dog menu! I highly reccomend the Bumble Bee to everyone.

Pub has a lovely atmosphere not too loud. Staff abit rushed looked like they were a man down, but didn't make a difference food was still super quick out the kitchen and was delicious. We will definitely be coming back.

Once again a friendly welcome, good food and a super helpful manager. I drop a point because seems to be under staffed. One person behind the bar who was also helping serve. She was really professional though.

The fish looked very big but it was all batter very little fish

The Quality of food was very poor and basic, value for money was nowhere near. The Costs have gone up, and quality has gone down since our last visit. Cutlery was dirty on arrival, and so were the drinking glasses where there were no straws available for the soft drinks. Very disappointed and felt ripped off with paying the final bill for the quality and volume of food that we had.

Very impressed with today's visit. From the friendly greeting when we came in to the friendly goodbye when we left truly was a fantastic afternoon. Food was brought out, excellent presentation and definitely excellent quality for money x very cheerful and polite waitress definitely a credit to your restaurant. Wouldnt hesitate in coming again, very good atmosphere, very clean service was superb really couldnt have had a better afternoon

What a terrible experience . We booked Christmas lunch for today ( months ago). We were really looking forward to it . After 50 minutes of waiting our starters still had not arrived. We asked the waitress what was going on . The manager told us they didn't have enough soup bowls. The waitress then informed us there were 3 more people in front of us still waiting to be served . We asked for our money back , our whole experience was ruined. Thank you Bumblebee. IF I could have given 0 star's then I would have .

How disappointing, had the roast Sunday lunch and it seemed that it was pre-sliced and warmed (the meat) maybe in a microwave?? Veg was OK, tasty but the mashed potato, although very nice, not enough to feed a mouse. It must have been put on with a dessert spoon and the gravy wasn't too bad although it worried me as there seemed to be a bit of a dried rim where the gravy had been? Normally?previously, the food has been hot, tasty and well worth going again but this time, so very disappointed.

The kids area has been removed and it has become more dog-friendly than kid-friendly, which was a little disappointing (my son loved the grabber machine and the play area). The staff were friendly and the food was delicious though.

We arrived for our booking at 13:00 hours. We could see that Dave (manager) was working hard to cover for the staff shortages. It would have been beneficial if the delays had been explained from the onset.

Poor Xmas meal. We had an awful Christmas meal as all the food was either overcooked and nearly burnt or soggy. The only redeeming feature was the prawn cocktail. Last year all nine of us enjoyed a wonderful meal that was cooked to perfection unlike this meal.

Fabulous place to eat, extremely friendly staff, great choice of food which is always enjoyable and a lovely selection of drinks.

Turned up at 2:30 today to be told there were no tables available until 4pm yet the lady behind the bar had sat 2 people in front of us straight away and there were times available to book today on their website at the same time we had turned up. Make that make sense. The couple in front of us were told that it would be 45 mins to an hour wait, which I understand if it's busy but there were tables available and other people were found a table before us. How can you treat people differently to others. Please explain that to us bumble bee because it makes no sense. UPDATE Thanks Mr Lewis for commenting back to me. I would like to first comment on the fact that we were NOT told by the lady at the bar that the couple in front of us had the last table. We were told that there was no tables until 4PM, although there were 1 or 2 tables that were dirty and could have been cleaned for us to be able to have the chance to dine or have a drink at your establishment. I find what you had stated to be not the truth and for you to place a request upon my review to be removed because 'we didn't dine or drink at your restaurant' is unfair. How could we when we didn't have the chance to? Your website clearly stated that there were bookings available to be made 2:45pm onwards, therefore how can your website state that when you have 'no tables available' is beyond me. I find this response to be rather confusing and not all the truth. Me and my family used to dine at your restaurant a lot as we always had a very happy and nice meal or 2 there, however this experience has put me off wanting to dine at your establishment again. I hope you see this comment and find out the truth, rather than give some form of answer which doesn't speak any truth in it. We understand that places are busier than ever, especially with it being Christmas yet it left me and my mother baffled by how there was clearly room for 2 more paying customers. I hope to get a reply from you, yet I don't expect one really.

Amazing food abousoutley brilliant service from staff. My husband is disabled and their help was brilliant.

We went lunchtime on the first day of a 20% price reduction. Because of this they were extra busy. They could have done with more staff, but they managed with what they had. The wait for the food was a bit longer than normal, it's normally so quick. Despite all this I enjoyed my lunch and the staff were great, as usual.

We love the laid back atmosphere at this venue. The Staff are so welcoming and the place itself is very inviting. It's also very easy for us to get to so it's always our first choice to go. Stay who you are as it's a pleasure to drink and dine with the family.😁

What a fantastic evening out we have had tonight with the family at the Bumblebee. The food was fantastic, hot and delicious. Plenty of it and left full and satisfied. The manager is absolutely brilliant, funny and friendly with good banter and an excellent manner. We were hosted like as if we were the only customers (although we were not) and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic - will definitely come back. As for the person who complained about fictional flees (what an idiot), glad you've sent him away with a flea in his ear, because he doesn't deserve your hospitality. You are a great asset to Marstons.... Keep up the good work....

Had a fantastic evening celebrating my niece's Birthday. The staff were all awesome, especially the Manager. The food was piping hot and very enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this place. Keep up the good work all. The place is definitely on the up

What a fab start to Christmas festivities x 1st Christmas dinner of the year. And they did not disappoint. Loads of food. Went home with a doggy bag. All the food was lovely, but the pigs in blankets and the cauliflower cheese were really nice x staff were wonderful x thank you for a lovely afternoon x

After a small confusion with the app , I managed to have my meal . The manager was very apologetic of the situation and was resolved professionally and quickly. I will be definitely going back there. Popped in for a few drinks with family, there was 2 lovely girls at the bar - Chloe and Demi. These pair worked their socks off for the entire time we were there. It was clear there was staffing issues, people were queuing out of the door - just waiting for a drink! The girls remained calm, kept smiling and did their absolute best to get to us as quickly as they could - well done girls! They were smiling and welcoming, courteous, professional and happy to help even though they were clearly under enormous amounts of pressure! Staffing needs addressing - Chloe and Demi are a credit!

We have just left here after having a Fabulous meal. We both had mixed grills ( mega & standard) and the presentation of both meals was lovely. It was very busy there as we left but the staff still happy and helpful. We haven't been to the bumble bee for many years but looking forward to coming back soon 😀

Lovely place to eat and connect with friends! We had 3 tables split between 30 people, the lady Chloe who dealt with us was absolutely amazing, so respectful and so helpful. The servers who had to deal with 30 rowdy people were brilliant honestly hats off to them and of course compliments to the chefs for cooking that many meals in such manner with all done how they were asked to be. Amazing prices too. Between the whole team I am so impressed by how they managed to deal with all of us and got everything so perfect. Looking forward to coming back in December for the Christmas meal. Thank you very much.

Great value food, friendly staff

We had a party of 30 booked in and they were amazing I have been to a few marsons and the bumble bee is by far the best of them food is spot on every time and the staff are amazing I can honestly say this was the best run and best food and the organisation of getting 30 people sorted was just amazing thank you so much chloe and all the staff we will be back thank you so much

Booked well in advance, extremely disappointed with the amount of time we were there. I booked for 5.30 thinking it won’t be so busy but we ordered our food at 5.45 our starter can out fairly quickly but we waited 1hr15 mins for our main course. Staff were lovely but obviously nowhere near enough people working I only saw 2 ladies working both apologised for the wait but it was for an 18th family meal so disappointed for the waiting time

Came here tonight to meet some friends and have something to eat. Dave and Lauren were working and were the most gracious hosts I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. It seemed as though they were quite short staffed as I only ever saw them two walking around the restaurant the entire evening, yet despite this, they both had smiles on their faces and nothing seemed too much trouble. Dave has a wicked sense of humour also. Food was also nice and reasonably priced. Will come again, thanks.

It was absolutely lovely from start to finish, staff were welcoming and friendly! Food was delicious apart from one short dark hair on my plate but that I just picked off as it was on the edging of the plate not in the food thankfully, probably just a little more care when handling food from kitchen to table next time please, but overall a really lovely experience so thank you! Avoid if you like food not cooked and cold 😔 It is a shame as staff was nice, helpful, polite and understanding but sadly you need a new chef!!! the food was disgusting.

We had a very warm welcome from Dave, the atmosphere was comfortable and the food was lovely! Just want to add how hard it is to get amazing customer service these days (after covid) but Dave was an exception. He was accommodation, friendly and funny. A delight to be served by.

Lovely food, did wait a while for food to come out but that's how you know it's cooked fresh, steak was perfectly cooked I asked for medium rare and that's what it was, will definitely go back again.

Food very sparse, not worth the money

Popped in here last night with my partner after shopping at the next door retail park. We were just after something cheap and cheerful, and were pleasantly surprised to get something a significant cut above this! The Bumble Bee is lovely and warm and welcoming, and the menu was substantial and caters for even the fussiest of eaters (of which my partner is one!). She had the steak and ale pie which she described as "Gorgeous" and I had the Mac and Cheese with optional peri-peri chicken which was really creamy, cheesy and tasty! The staff were really friendly as well, so what's not to like - we'll be back! :)

Arrived and stood waiting in bar area for attention, barman told me the table to got to. Ordered drinks and waitress put tray on table waiting for us to remove the drinks, instead of her serving them to us. Ordered meal and starters came within 10mins, main meal arrived 30 mins later. Ordered fish and chips with bread and butter, didn't get the bread and butter. Didn't raise this with the waitress as I wasn't bothered. But the waitress should have been on top of it as it wasn't that busy. Didn't have desserts. Service was mediocre.

Visited yesterday, which was quite busy, but the meal was still excellent, always great service in The Bumblebee!

Very friendly staff, fast service and great food that tasted like proper home cooked food - couldn't ask for more and will definitely be back.

Sign on door saying unable to do anything grilled which was disappointing. Food took a long time to come out although they were not very busy. Staff not overly friendly. Shame really,don't think we will be back. Lots of other pubs to choose from.

I've been here before as fairly newish to the area and it was nice, second time around I took my parents for a nice meal and unfortunately I'll not return. No real welcome on arrival and no grilled food available. Service was slow considering it was pretty quiet. Food coming out was slow too. Food was OK but not great. The let down for me was the state of the ladies bathroom ...toilets were dirty and dusty and pretty low standards so it's put me off returning. Staff could of been a bit more friendly

Having been there 3 times since beginning of September we have all been very impressed with the meals we have had. Great choice on the menu. Staff go above and beyond with helpfulness and politeness. Clean interior and bathroom. Only criticism we do have is there has only been 1 member behind the bar to serve and take orders. He us the most polite and friendly person but he is rushed and there has been a wait just to inform him we have arrived for a reservation. The last occasion we had 3 elderly family members with us, with one using sticks and the wait was uncomfortable for them to be seated. Pleasantness of the experience is easy to overlook that slight inconvenience. Will be attending again!!!

Bad food, order was wrong, alright service and terrible food

Was a lovely friendly place to bring my three daughters for my daughters 1st birthday... everyone was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble even when I had to order a second mac and cheese and my one daughter could have it plain... The young lady came out and double checked which I thought was a nice touch. I'll 100% be bring us back again

18 sept 2024. Jacket potato was rubbish, looked as if it was 2 days old and reheated and the chips was far from fresh.

Staff were very welcoming, very cleanly presented in all areas, beer garden was great 😃😃

Really fancied a Sunday lunch outafter a hard week so I booked a table Saturday night for Sunday which was easy, no hassle, popped down, a lovely roast chicken dinner and two Cowboy burger meals, and back home in time for family visiting! Food was delicious (except squashy roasties), will not hesitate to come back soon!

OK, nothing complicated here just like my order. Not a busy Saturday afternoon, 1st time here just myself & my wife we strolled in after shopping. We were greeted by the most wonderful bar maid (truly lovely) beer & lime & soda £7.25. Now here's our food order: Piri piri chicken tuna baguette & Tuna melt baguette that's it!! 50 minutes later here it comes....2 x baguettes complete with piri chicken & tuna which only filled 1/2 the baguette, this accompanied by the saddest looking 3 day old chips (now think they were returns & redipped). The moment of departure was 1/2 way through & believe me it was food seagulls would turn their noses up at, appeared a mid length hair!! omg nothing short of disgusting, we will never waste our hard earned cash ever again at this establishment! Marstons you should be ashamed!! I've given 2 stars for the service of the overworked barmaid.

Me and my boyfriend came down the food was amazing the place was calming and the staff was amazing with us, there was lots of choices and our drinks were made very fast and didn’t have to wait for our food long at all
