Had a wonderful experience visiting this pub! Staff were amazing and very helpful with during our visit. Chloe, Demi and Lydia were extra kind in helping us even during stressful and busy times☺️ Food was amazing and we will be coming back again!

You can either serve ok food quickly, or amazing food slowly..... when you're serving mediocre food and taking over an hour to get it to the table, as you are, don't expect customers to be happy or return! We had this experience a year or so ago here, then yesterday, gave it another go, hoping things may have improved...... they haven't, won't be returning! It's a shame, as the atmosphere and staff are pleasant enough, and it's local. Wouldn't recommend.

Came for a birthday meal, walked in to a queue of people at the bar, over heard staff saying there's only 2 in the kitchen and 2 out front, so if you're running a 30% off deal, wouldn't it be an idea to make sure there's the staff to run it?? Table's with dirty plates.....and cold food.....doubt we'll be back

Currently sat waiting for food, not nearly enough staff as have heard that there's only 2 in kitchen, and can only see 2 our front. If you're going to run a 30% off offer, wouldn't it be advisable to make sure you have the staff to cope. People queuing at the var for drinks. Tables with dirty plates all around.....is this really the impression you want to give??

Very poor service. Half of the menu was unavailable even though it was back holiday weekend. We waited for over 1 hour for our food and went advised of a wait time. When the food did arrive, it was cold, burnt, and the peas were inedible.

Bad food and not enough staff. We were told to find our own table. The FOH staff were working hard but couldn't keep ontop of all the tables. Our meals were a Rump steak, burger and fish and chips. The steak was cooked well but the sides were overcooked and/or burnt. The Mushrooms were obviously put in the fryer. There were no complaints on the burger. The fish and chips was horrid.The fish was low quality. The batter was too thin, pale and soggy. The portion size was as if it were a kids meal. Once the food was on the table the staff disappeared.

Amazing pub with good quality food and staff who always go the extra mile

We arrived at 1.20pm it was very busy and could hear people being told the food wait was around 1 hour. We wanted a drink anyway so decided we would wait for the food also. We had 2 of the lunch deal fish and chips, a mixed grill and the veggie burger. Despite the wait the food was lovely! Each of us enjoyed our meal and would definitely be back.

Our visit was very pleasant, it was very busy when we arrived but was seen too and seated within a very short time. Two different plates had items missing but this was dealt with immediately, with a smile and an apology . All staff were very pleasant and very efficient. Thank you the Bumblebee for a pleasant experience.

Absolutely terrible food. Took 30mins for soup to come which was Luke warm. Mains came and I was unable to eat as it was chewy and chips were cold. We were offered free desert but we paid nearly £80 for food which I considered to be a rip off. Staff all miserable not even a smile. I will never eat here again. If it was busy maybe I would understand but it was empty. Somebody else also sent their food back

Really friendly welcome, lovely and clean, great choice on the menu and fabulous tasting food. They offer Blue Light Discount too which is a bonus! Staff were also super helpful. I’ll be back ☺️

Exactly what you expect from a chain pub

Took our grandchildren out for a meal, and the food was very good. However, I had the sirloin offer and for a second time, nearly full of sinus and grizzle. Also asked for medium, but served medium rare. However what proved uncomfortable is that my wife has a genuine fear of dogs and the party that came in after and sat behind us, had two. We were told we could move to a different table in an area where dogs are not allowed. Within 10 mins, an adjacent table was occupied, and they had two dogs. Appreciate a demand to allow pets but there was no balance for those who do not want share dining out. My wife was anxious to leave, and marred our family visit, and you may need to clarify your application.

Great place to meet up with friends. The food was fantastic and we all had it the same time. Staff were amazing.

Had a lively Mothers Day evening meal here. The server was super helpful and happy. A really nice visit.

Never disappointed! All the staff are lovely, David is always really friendly with everyone who walks in. Great options for lager and neck oil which keeps us lot happy, fab chicken burger, mixed grill and the kebab is nice too. Thanks guys 🙌

Waited ages for our food over half an hour for starters then waited ages at bar to get served drinks i even seen the manager through glass in kitchen door and he just looked at me and walked off then when our mains turned up which was mega mix grill there was no chicken on there so had to complain by time chicken arrived our food was cold and the chicken hadn't been grilled like said it was microwaved to warm it through and all this on a very quiet day here absolutely disgusting service and experience

The food was great and came out pretty quickly considering it was really busy because of Mother’s Day weekend. I love that we can now order and pay on the app instead of waiting in the queue.

Booked a table.for mothers day celebration and on arrival were told that it was only a basic menue on which consisted of very limited options even though we had one.of there leaflets posted through our door stating chicken platter and ultimate.ribs and that all your favourite classics are still avaliable.Iwas very disappointed to be told.this.on arrival as this was going to be.a special suprise for my wife.We left.without eating and will book with.a more.realible establishment next year. Would not recommend.

Simple pub grub cooked well and lovely staff

As soon as we entered, there was a member of staff ready to seat us all at our prebooked tables. The duty manager came over and spoke to us, he was really friendly, polite and professional. We had our drinks brought to us before ordering food. At the bar we placed our food orders with ease and friendly service from the other staff. As there was 9 of us, we all had our food brought out at the same time. Once food was served, it was all absolutely delicious and all our meals were served to us withing 30 minutes, outstanding!

We ordered on the app but my partner was brought a full alcohol cider so had to take it back to the bar (good job he checked as he was driving!) when he came back he said that they are telling people that there is a 45min wait on food but we weren't told that. Other tables were served before us so after 50mins I had to chase up our order. The food was OK. We ordered desert as by now there were only a few tables and it still took another 45mins! I again had to chase this up at the bar. When desert came it looked like it had been thrown at the plate! Very poor.

Worst meal I've ever had! Was told half hour wait on arrival, waited over an hour in the end. Wrong order was delivered on one meal and everything else came out burnt. Rip off

The staff were very welcoming, explained with clear language the process to order but offered both options using the app or at the bar. It was very clean. The food was ordered didn’t have wait long very enjoyable!

We had the Sunday dinner it was awful

Food was mega tasty had starters main and dessert. We had a lovley waiter caller Dave he couldn't do enough for us. Food was cooked perfect . And the price was brilliant

Met up with a good friend for an impromptu night out. Hadn't booked but wasn't a problem, and were shown to a table. The pub is nicely furnished and cosy, and was pleasantly busy. The Manager came over to us and was very friendly and welcoming and offered to to get our drinks while we perused the menu. He also reminded us that there was a discount currently on offer, which he didn't need to! We ordered main courses which we received really quickly and were delicious fair play! The Manager was very attentive and pleasant all evening and we are looking forward to returning next month!

Always a friendly welcome, and the staff ask at the table if everything is satisfactory, the manager is friendly and helful too and says thankyou when we are leaving.

We booked a table for 5 for 1.45 today 2/3/2025. When we arrived we were told they were 30mins behind. 3.pm we had to ask where our mains were, twice we were told they were 10 mins away. Eventually they arrived, congealing gravy and quite cold, waitress not sure which was vegan and which were vegetarian meals. Very poor service and no care taken of us as customers. Not coming back anytime soon Margaret Parry

Another delicious meal at the bumblebee. Staff there are so friendly even with the amount of pressure they are under. Understaffed isnt the word but they still seem to keep smiling and doing the best they can. Marstons as a company should be recognising the amazing staff you have here.

We went out for my mums birthday meal and a lovely young lady Ruby was on my receipt I believe it was her first day and she was amazing! Keep up the good work! Also there was a gentleman who I think may have been the manager who was also very lovely will definitely return

My 3rd visit to The Bumblebee this evening. Definitely a 5* visit again. Restaurant was very busy when we came in, had to wait a few minutes to be served but was greeted with an apology for waiting and a very welcoming smile . Considering the restaurant was busy we dodnt have to wait long and when the food arrived it was piping hot. Really enjoyable meal lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff. Will definitely call again xxx definitely worthy of a 5*+ review

Food piping hot & delicious. Battered fish cooked to perfection Explained mum found tea goes cold too quick & asked for pot to be pre warmed cup to filled with hot water & 2nd cup to empty hot water into - all done & mum much happier with her hot cup of tea 👍

Went for lunch today with my granddaughter we had a lovely welcome from young man behind the bar the service was excellent an so was the food nothing was too much trouble from the staff would definitely recommend to anyone an will certainly go there again thank you for the lovely warm welcome

I would live to thank Dave,the waitress and chief for the great service and food Sunday evening, for my birthday. Dave was very welcoming and chatty, good repour with all of my family and all the other customers. Food came out hot and very tasty. ANOTHER GREAT MEAL HERE.

Mid week family meal at the bumble bee. The manager and staff were lovely. Due to staff illness there was a little wait for food. The food was lovely and hot not Luke warm like some places.

There was 11in our party to celebrate our granddaughter 18th birthday. We was allowed to put balloons up and bring in a birthday cake which the lovely staff brought out with lighted candles . The manager greeted us upon arrival with a lovely smile and chatted to us to make us feel welcome . All the staff was lovely and the lady who brought our food was smiling and telling us our plates were hot so not to touch them . She chatted with us as she brought our food out which I thought was lovely. I think her name was Alyson. Highly recommend as the food was delicious and the staff was all friendly

The restaurant was very busy with 2 birthday parties and all tables were full, we had to wait for a table, queue about 15 mins to get served then wait 45 mins for food. Fortunately they had a well stocked kids area with colouring and books which is a nice idea. There were lots of tables that needed clearing. The food was pretty good although our steaks were abit too well done. What made it bearable though was Dave who I think was a manager. At one point he was the only person working in the restaurant, serving at the bar, seating people and clearing tables all at once all with a friendly smile. He had a laugh and joke with the customers, and kept checking on us and apologising for the wait. He needs a medal and some more staff!!

Staff are the friendliest around. Hard workers keeping the establishment super clean and serving customers as fast as possible quality is what comes to mind when visiting the Bumblebee. Shout out to the staff who's efforts aren't unnoticed and appreciated for making this a fine place to dine and relax.

Had a lovely evening at the bumblebee Blackwood. Food was very tasty, especially the steak 🥩 on my partners mixed grill 😋 staff were very friendly even with all the stress they are clearly under staffed. Can’t wait to come back

The food got send back a few times and they didn’t listen to the us, we waited over a hour and 15 minutes for our food and the staff we quite rude (rolling their eyes and not answering) the food and drink was so expensive and wasn’t worth it. My grandfather has the pie and it was a microwave one and was like a mess. The chicken burger was full of grease and was rock hard so sent it back and came out like it again! My uncle has the mixed grill and asked for the steak to be medium and it came with all blood on the plate so sent that back as he wasn’t happy at all!!! The apple pie was cold when asked for it warm and ordered the brownie and they gave us the chocolate fudge cake and was like a rock. The sticky toffee pudding didn’t taste of anything. We spent nearly £300 and it was not worth it at all. Wasn’t happy at all with my experience and was such a let down for my aunties 40th birthday meal! Never go again !!!

Lovely place to relax and unwind whether it's for food or drink. Staff are cheerful and a great all round laugh.

Very busy, food very nice. Waited a bit longer than usual for food but worth it

Been here s few times before and always enjoyed our meal. However this time we were very disappointed. We were told our food would be ready in 30 mins but we waited 1 hour and 10 mins for our food to arrive. Kids were very hungry and restless. It wasn't busy, plenty of free tables. When the food arrived it wasn't good. The vegetable thai curry consisted of 4 mouthfuls of curry (tasted ok, but could have eaten 3 times the amount) and a dollop of rice. The ribs and chicken platter was tasteless with no garnish as advertised. Kids tomato pasta was only a few mouthfuls (much smaller portion than previous visit) and cold cooked floppy carrot sticks. We had no acknowledgement from staff after we had told them we weren't happy with our meals. A real shame.

Went straight to the bar ordered drinks and asked for table..there were loads of empty tables. Evenly got allocated a table..we ordered food whilst at the bar. Waited nearly an hour for food, whilst waiting saw one gentleman return his food. After 45 mins I went to the bar to enquire about our order. Barman checked and said they are just dishing it up. 10mins later asked another staff member about our order. When it eventually came we were so disappointed. Both ordered surf and turf with medium cooked steak. It was a grisly piece of paper steak and it was so difficult cut. It was literally raw in the middle and we had blood then spoil the rest of the food on the plate. Heard another lady enquiring about her order as she had waited an hour and a half. It wasn't busy busy so I don't understand the hold up. When the waitress came to collect the dishes she asked if the meal was ok. We told her how disappointed we were. She spoke to manager who refunded us for the steak. Not in a rush to go back, shame as it is local.

30/01 20:00 5* for the manager - he was on his own but provided excellent service, especially considering how busy it was because of a panto on in Blackwood. Compare this to the carnage that was the Sirhowy (that's why we came here) - he's a credit to Marstons, really impressed. Now Marstons can you step up and give him some backup please! Food was fine, difficult to judge atmosphere...

My first impression was how pleasant and refreshed the premises was, as the last time I visited (over 2 years ago) it was looking tired, worn and dilapidated. The new revamped premises was fresh, vibrant and welcoming. I ordered coffee and a meal and service at the bar was a somewhat slow initially, as the Deputy Manager who was staffing that area was clearly attending to other duties, but was friendly and pleasant to my queries. However, whilst the meal was nice, it was lacking in portion size and I would say it was quite small considering (hunters chicken dish). A vast improvement on the old premises and this was a plesant, welcoming visit.

Really good food but unfortunately so many tables not cleared for the whole time we were there. Not enough staff

The first time I've been to The Bumblebee & had to write a bad review. We ordered our food at 2.30pm & sat down with our drinks expecting to have our food brought to our table about 20-25 mins later but we had to go to the bar 'twice' to ask when our food was going to be served. The first time of going to the bar was after waiting for 30 minutes & the second time after 45 minutes! Not happy with the service & although the waitress apologised, we should've been offered a refund or free drink atleast! The food was nice but I have had better service & food in The Otter which is only 4-5 miles away in Newbridge. I would recommend going to The Otter as I won't be going to The Bumblebee again. 4/10.

Good food well cooked and nicely presented. Waitress was a little uncertain whos' steak was who's though my brother and i ordered different prep so we had to guess. Bonus that they accepted my bluelight cars 20% discount. Would recommend

Edit: even more disappointed to have been asked to reply via email and had no response. Repeat customer, wad very disappointed this visit. Ordered via the table app; breaded mushrooms were unfortunately soggy with oil, not just mushroom juice. Cheddar, potatoe and leek pie had large chunk of cold potato in center. Also as a side note, the pie was listed as "vegetarian " and came served with a delicious beef gravy. This was clear on the menu, just found it odd! Still ate the food, as had already paid via the app, but was overall disappointed, and left feeling queasy from the oiled starter.

Lovely meal with very pleasant staff and served quickly

Always have had good food and brilliant service every time we've been here. Dog friendly, with a nice dog area, dog treats, water bowls and even a dog menu! I highly reccomend the Bumble Bee to everyone.

Pub has a lovely atmosphere not too loud. Staff abit rushed looked like they were a man down, but didn't make a difference food was still super quick out the kitchen and was delicious. We will definitely be coming back.

Once again a friendly welcome, good food and a super helpful manager. I drop a point because seems to be under staffed. One person behind the bar who was also helping serve. She was really professional though.

The fish looked very big but it was all batter very little fish

The Quality of food was very poor and basic, value for money was nowhere near. The Costs have gone up, and quality has gone down since our last visit. Cutlery was dirty on arrival, and so were the drinking glasses where there were no straws available for the soft drinks. Very disappointed and felt ripped off with paying the final bill for the quality and volume of food that we had.

Very impressed with today's visit. From the friendly greeting when we came in to the friendly goodbye when we left truly was a fantastic afternoon. Food was brought out, excellent presentation and definitely excellent quality for money x very cheerful and polite waitress definitely a credit to your restaurant. Wouldnt hesitate in coming again, very good atmosphere, very clean service was superb really couldnt have had a better afternoon

What a terrible experience . We booked Christmas lunch for today ( months ago). We were really looking forward to it . After 50 minutes of waiting our starters still had not arrived. We asked the waitress what was going on . The manager told us they didn't have enough soup bowls. The waitress then informed us there were 3 more people in front of us still waiting to be served . We asked for our money back , our whole experience was ruined. Thank you Bumblebee. IF I could have given 0 star's then I would have .

How disappointing, had the roast Sunday lunch and it seemed that it was pre-sliced and warmed (the meat) maybe in a microwave?? Veg was OK, tasty but the mashed potato, although very nice, not enough to feed a mouse. It must have been put on with a dessert spoon and the gravy wasn't too bad although it worried me as there seemed to be a bit of a dried rim where the gravy had been? Normally?previously, the food has been hot, tasty and well worth going again but this time, so very disappointed.

The kids area has been removed and it has become more dog-friendly than kid-friendly, which was a little disappointing (my son loved the grabber machine and the play area). The staff were friendly and the food was delicious though.

We arrived for our booking at 13:00 hours. We could see that Dave (manager) was working hard to cover for the staff shortages. It would have been beneficial if the delays had been explained from the onset.

Poor Xmas meal. We had an awful Christmas meal as all the food was either overcooked and nearly burnt or soggy. The only redeeming feature was the prawn cocktail. Last year all nine of us enjoyed a wonderful meal that was cooked to perfection unlike this meal.

That was how part of my steak looked. Don't have to say anymore. Never again.
