Monks Yard in South Somerset

All servers were pleasant and accommodating. Food was very nice. A mistake with the order was rectified quickly. When it got busy in the restaurant it was a little noisy for some of our party but otherwise a lovely find.

I had the amazing roast pepper, tomato and coconut soup tody, I enjoyed every single mouthful. I can't recommend the the food more highly. You won't be disappointed

Very good. Well set up for wheelchair access. The disabled parking bays are sensibly located and ramps and access to the cafe and the disabled loo all work well. Coffee good too!

I have recently organised my dad 80th birthday party and felt compelled to say what an excellent event it was. The organisation by Monks Yard, particularly Gina, was incredible. Everything we asked for was delivered above expectations, and the cake, wow. Catering for nut free, gluten free and veggies was not a problem and even asks on the day were delivered. Thank you for making such an important day one to be remembered.

We had a beautiful lunch here today, en route to Bristol airport. We all enjoyed our choices and would whole heartedly recommend this spot! Everything was delicious and all home made. The staff were just lovely too.

Absolutely amazing - We had our wedding at this venue yesterday and it was so lovely. The food was top tier and we are so happy with how the entire day turned out. The entire staff were so precise and delicate, we are truly blessed to have had our wedding here. If anyone is thinking about booking an event here I would definitely give the venue a call or pop down when it's open to have a look around. Very affordable and we will be visiting Monks Yard often to enjoy all that the venue/cafe has to offer! A big thank you to the whole team🎉🎊

Here right now, welcomed straight away. Serving staff efficient and friendly. Nachos seemed home made and were great. Lots of outside space with sunshades. Toilets clean.

First time visiting here, had the most amazing lunch, ploughman's, and the milkshake to die for.

Very busy cafe along the main trunk road to Devon/Dorset. Medium size carpark, fairly easy to find. Large restaurant that's always busy serving tasty fresh food. Well recommended. We sat outside because it was lovely and sunny. Inside was very busy to get there early to make sure you get a table.

Nice location with outside seating. Staff very friendly & helpful. Great tea & cake. A couple of Gluten Free cake options and GF bread available, pity their chips aren't. Worth visiting the shops on site too and take in the amazing tree on the front lawn.

Very warm welcome from the two ladies behind the counter. Had the best bacon butty I’ve ever had. Proper bread, loads of properly cooked bacon and brown sauce. My friend had a danish pastry which she loved, but she was very jealous of my butty. Plenty of tea delivered to the table. Reasonable price. Very satisfied. Thank you all.

They had just closed when we arrived, but they welcomed us in, and we had fantastic tea and cake at a reasonable price. Fantastic friendly staff, so we'll be back soon. What a difference from the café across the road!

Popped in for coffee and cake before looking around the outlets at Monks Yard and Jordans Courtyard. It was warm enough to sit outside on the tables on the grass. Very pleasant.

Lovely pit stop off the A303, very friendly cafe, lots of parking. Food was delicious, and sublime carrot cake!

Didnt eat coffee great, hot chocolate to cold fot my wife, even having asked for a hot hot chocolate.

Overpriced. Lunch menu proposing £14 for a fish finger butty! Wonder what Michelin star sides that comes with?! We finished our coffee, cut our losses and went elsewhere.

We had a family lunch in a private room. The staff were super friendly and thoughtful, and the food was good, and plentiful. All in all, we had a great day. Mondays are very busy, probably because most other eateries in Somerset are closed...

Buzzing atmosphere and good quality food but slghtly expensive for what it is. We had to wait a long time for our drinks, even though our food came quickly. Also a horrible smell around the toilets - possibly some sort of sewer issue.

Used to like it here until they tried to poison me today with a regular sandwich when a gluten free was ordered and reiterated multiple times to the lady who took the order. She even checked it with the kitchen twice and still managed to not put it on the ticket! Have had to rush home to be near a toilet and take my medication but she has probably ruined my month now with my reactions to Wheat! Incompetence could badly affect someone if they are not careful!

Met my Dad here for a morning cuppa. I had probably the best cheese scone I have ever tasted. Lovely staff, very welcoming

Came here for a birthday lunch and we were so impressed! The paninis were absolutely delicious and the drinks were nice and hot. I think we’ve found our new favourite cafe!

The conference facilities are good - well laid out with good acoustics and layout. The food was ok, good quality but not exciting. The location is easy to find. There is ample free car parking on site. I recommend Monks Yard as a good conference venue.

First visit, and it won't be the last. Brilliant experience. Well worth the slight detour from the A303 and the awful services that road has to offer.

Big shout out for the new autumn menu - you don't get more seasonal than Maple Roasted Pumpkin Salad with a Maple and Hazelnut Latte chaser! The super-abundant ploughman's is my preferred go-to - so much tasty salad along with the cheese and ham - and our seven-strong party were equally thrilled by the paninis (Buffalo Chicken, and Bacon-Brie-Cranberry). There was a great buzz in the cafe while we were there, and lots of energy. The staff were friendly and delightful, as always, and the food arrived quickly despite it being a busy lunchtime. Plenty of parking, and one member of our group was grateful for the copious disability parking right by the cafe.

Had breakfast here this morning on back of other reviews. Was excellent. Really good quality food, well cooked and good service. Coffee was best I’ve had in a long time and wife had pot of tea which gave her four cups of tea. Lovely setting and really nice cafe. Would add my recommendation to others and would definitely call again if in area

Really delicious food, with menu changes for the seasons which makes it a nice place to return to. The paninis are always a fantastic staple. Great atmosphere, staff and lovely little shop on site too. Busy at peak times!

Great afternoon tea for my friends birthday

The staff are sooo lovely here! Can’t believe how friendly everyone is. We stopped by on the way home from Cornwall and this seemed to be the only place where the kitchen didn’t close at 2pm - and good for them, because they’re getting all the business that their competitors are missing out on for closing early. I ordered their chicken gyros and it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the ham and cheese panini but he said they were a bit too heavy on the mustard. Portion sizes were decent - both came with a nice serving of salad. Would totally visit this place again if we’re in the area!

I had to order a breakfast meal because the breakfast menu stopped at 11:30, a bit late, when my breakfast came the bacon was fairly fatty and too much grease on it for me, another thing I noticed was that 3 out of the 20 tables was used for hot desking, one coffee in maybe 2 or 3 hours taking up 3 tables, why should they be allowed to do that

Really lovely venue, especially if you can sit outside. Looks to have facilities for thise with access needs and pushchairs etc. Lovely friendly customer service. Only missing a fifth star as I couldn't see any gluten free options in the treats, but didn't ask either to be fair (wasn't eating this time, but I always look).

I had a very nice wrapp. Freshly made and plenty on the plate. I also had a lovely homemade cake . Service fast enough. The only thing is the ceiling being hight it resonates a lot, so not ideal when the place is full as it can be quite noisy. Big car park. I would recommend to book in advance as it was practically full a Wednesday at 12.

This is a lovely place with beautiful friendly staff. Comfortable and relaxing with very good outside seating front and back. Excellent clean toilets Only problem was the food; dry tasteless vegetarian sausages, hard dry bacon (I like it succulent), thick gloopy sauce in the baked beans. Hash browns and mushrooms very good though!

Lovely convenient place to stop whilst travelling from A358 or A303. Excellent home prepared food. It can be quite busy and a bit if a wait but we think its worth it. Lovely old building around a courtyard, nicely modernised inside. Stopped here a few times.

Friends suggested lunch here today. We didn't know what to expect. As soon as we entered this restaurant we felt relaxed and welcome. A beautiful old building, with lovely art on the walls. The staff were great. The menu suited every taste. Two of us had pork and apple burgers with coleslaw and fries. My husband had ham, egg and chips. My friend Paula had the tart of the day, which was mushroom and Stilton, with a salad, and extra fries. All local produce, and home made. I only live 15 minutes away, so feel like I have lost out on this beautiful venue for far too long. It also has a few other companies in the Yard. A fab gift shop, with very unusual products. Also, a yarn shop. Which is beautiful. They do have some felting products, crochet, embroidery kits, Tilda fabric. Also a venue for workshops etc. I also give them my 2022 award for the the best toilets.

Warm friendly place to meet friends and have coffee or lunch. Will adjust the menu to your specific requirement. Very wholesome and fresh food served with a smile. Small shop in the grounds with a very reasonable selection of gifts and plants. Love it here.

Lovely. I went inside the shops. I did not use the café but it looked nice. Shops were good. The Lace Knittery fantastic, beautifully set out, lovely choice of yarns, knitters heaven! Bought yarn and patterns and stitch savers. The other shop sold very top class decor for the home and flowers/plants. I bought a bouquet of English Garden Flowers for £15. My daughter had just given her first talk about her photography. I wanted somethin- special as congratulatory gift! Both shops, really nice to me. I worry I talk too much. I'm not shy! But both owners were really nice!

Hidden gem of a cafe just a short distance from the A303 at Horton. Pleasant surroundings. Comfortable eating area. Friendly and helpful staff. Good quality food and drink. Prompt hot drinks service. Good range of tea, coffee and cakes (made locally). Plenty of breakfast items on plates or in sandwiches. Totally recommendable.

Got my drinks order wrong, and the sandwich was so hard I could not eat the meat inside. I got an refund . But I will not be going back again!
